@@Kageric I'm glad you like JP :) It's my favorite movie! If you haven't already watched it, I recommend JW's Camp Cretaceous series (which, despite being more for kids, feels much more like a proper continuation of JP than the JW movies). Also, if you wanna learn about real dinos (including birds), I highly recommend Darren Naish's "Dinosaurs: How They Lived and Evolved" (the best adult intro to the whole story of dinos) & "Dinopedia: A Brief Compendium of Dinosaur Lore" (the best adult guide to dinos & their cultural impact since the 1970s). P.S. To answer your questions/concerns: -27:15: Had it not been raining, then yes the T. rex would've been able to smell them. -51:45: JP's dinos ARE very outdated now, but were mostly accurate for their time (1993). Google "SD: Jurassic Park dinos then and now" to see what I mean.
When this came out I saw it 6 times in theaters as a kid, that's how epic it was. I had already loved dinosaurs but this...When CGI was new and blended beautifully with practical effects. Not completely depended on as it is now. I will never forget feeling the steps of the T-Rex as the water ripples...now that's chaos. One of the greatest cinematic experiences in history.
I was 13 when it came out and went to see it. The sounds in the theater and seeing them bring Dinosaurs to life was amazing. To this day, one of my favorite movies ever. Great Reaction!!
My most memorable cinema moment happened in 1993, when I was 10 and I saw this in the IMAX theater. Before the movie someone had inflated a bunch of beach balls and we were all knocking them around the audience, and then of course this epic movie followed... just a lot of fun at the movies!
So, the contingency plan you were mentioning toward the end was actually explained as the animals have an inability to produce a vital amino acid, meaning that without anyone there to feed it to them, they should die off. However, a few of the plants on the island end up having that amino acid or something, so we get sequels.
Fun Fact: After this movie there was an explosion of interest in paleontology; especially among girls. American paleontologist, Robert Bakker who advised for this movie, was interviewed about the effects of Jurassic Park. He said that prior to the movie, he would get about 10 students for his courses and they would all be men. After the movie, he would get around 40 students and half would be women. FYI I have my own little collection of fossils. Some of which I self collected including a whale vertebra.
I love that!! I'm sure if I had seen this earlier it may have sparked such an interest for me too! Also, that's so cool you have your own collection of fossils!
@@Kageric Thanks. Most of the other fossils I collected were mainly seashells still in their matrix. Clams, scallops and oysters. I also have petrified wood that I collected when I was living in Arizona. No I didn't steal them from the Petrified Forest National Park. There is this one place I wanted to go about 2 hours from my home that have trilobites, the problem is that gasoline price is high and the govt placed a lot of warnings like "No Phone Service", bring water and must have 4 wheel drive.
The jurassic franchise is one of my inspirations for dinosaurs being my top favorite real life animals. and I can model and animate dinosaurs in blender.
Hello Kageric!😊 Yes, this was the first film to really portray dinosaurs looking believable.🏆 The stories might not be the greatest in the sequels, but they still have something to offer the viewer.😉 Great reactions to the original Jurassic Park film, Kageric!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That was great fun 😁 I remember watching this as a kid and getting nightmares from the raptors in the kitchen and being scared there was one behind my wardrobe 😆
Jeff Goldblume is an expected actor in nearly every sci fi movies from the ‘80s and ‘90s - my cult classic is Buckaroo Banzai but he is also central in Independence Day.
Ohh so I have seen him in a movie before! Independence Day is one I watched years ago. I haven't seen Buckaroo Banzai though, may have to watch that some day.
When it comes to the music in this movie, you might not know the guy's name, you might not know his face, but the odds are you know more of his music than you think. Try looking up "John Williams" and look at the long list of movies that he has created music for. Some of those movies are "Star Wars episodes 1 through 9", "E.T. the Extra Terrestrial", " Jaws", the first 2 or 3 "Harry Potter" movies, "Hook ", " Close Encounters of the Third Kind", the "Indiana Jones" movies, and the list keeps going. There are other really good music composers out there that have created great music but none of them have the resume that John Williams has.
Hi, I'm glad you watched this film. This it is a great movie in my opinion. I watched it in the theatre went it come out , and it was magnificent see those dinosaurs on the big screen (and the CGI is still very good nowadays). I think my favourite moment in the movie is almost at the end, when the T-Rex growls and the banner with the text "When the Dinosaurs ruled the world" drops down: it's hilarious and glorious at the same time! I really liked your reaction. Thank you. :)
I love that!! I agree that the CGI holds up well! This film has a lot of wonderfully creative shots, and that shot with the banner at the end there had to be a highlight for me as well!
Hahaha yes!! I was mostly familiar with the Jurassic Park harmonica meme but I do recall seeing some others as well. I'm sure I'll enjoy the memes more now that I've watched this 🤣
It’s such a fun movie. Always good to just throw on and have a good time. I remember seeing it in theaters opening weekend and it was such a blast. Big excited crowds. I was a huge fan of the book before the movie, they are quite different but I really enjoy them both. And yeah, it takes quite a few liberties with Dino’s, especially the raptors, but it makes the movie much more suspenseful. I enjoy Jurassic park 2 & 3, but they are definitely diminishing returns. Still can be fun popcorn flicks though
It really is brilliant isn't it! Definitely one I can see myself watching again and again. It must've been so cool watching this when it released in theaters!!
Regarding Hammond's "infectious smile", as you put it: I haven't read the books, but apparently the character of Hammond (played by Richard Attenborough, brother of the famous biologist David Attenborough) was written as an evil, profit-driven, machiavellian man. Steven Spielberg intended to honor the source material in this way, but he found it impossible to make Richard Attenborough come off that way because of his naturally Santa-Clause-eque appearance and jolly demeanor. For that reason, Spielberg changed the script to make Hammond more of a likeable character.
Oh wow!! Well, I'm glad he ended up being rewritten because I really enjoyed Hammond's character as he is in the movie! It does make me curious to see how he's like when I read the book though!
loved your fallout reactions and I'm glad to see you reacting to other things! Since I finally got the chance to say it, I heard the T Rex breaking through the glass in the car was an accident, and that the kids reaction was genuine. Which is scary but kinda cool I guess. Love your reactions! I', excited to see what other thing you'll react to :)
Thank you so much, and thanks for tagging along with my other reactions too! I super appreciate it! That's interesting!! Yes, I can imagine that would've been very scary for the kids!
PLEASE react to the entire Jurassic franchise! To this day, it remains the longest-running dinosaur film franchise of all time. There are also a plethora of classic, vintage dinosaur films that I'd be more than happy to recommend to you as possible future reactions, if you're interested!
love your reactions, definitely wanna see you watch the whole series! if you thought the velociraptors were cute i can't wait to see what you think about the even cuter dinosaurs in the next film 😉😂
Also, the other two films are okay. Not great but not bad. The second has Jeff Goldblum's character and his daughter, and the third sees Doctor Grant return to Jurassic Park. The third one is probably my favorite, but I think you'll like both
Good observation about the dinosaurs all getting sick! In the second book, "The Lost World", some of the characters learn of a disease (Disease X, aka "DX") that had plagued the operation. I wont spoil anything else though just in case you want to read them. I'm just amazed you commented on it because almost *nobody* ever does.
I believe the second movie in this series, 'The Lost World', is loosely based on the novel of the same name by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (the creator of Sherlock Holmes).
You should definitely watch - The Lost World: Jurassic Park - Jurassic Park 3 - Jaws As far as the Jurassic series goes, - Jurassic Park - The Lost World - Fallen Kingdom - Dominion form a REMARKABLY cohesive and well thought-out overarching storyline. Jurassic Park sets up TLW The Lost World sets up Fallen Kingdom Fallen Kingdom sets up Dominion and, by the sounds of it, Dominion sets up the upcoming Jurassic Park/World 7. Jurassic Park 3 is a fun little side quest the doesn't really matter at all, but it's cool and very well made. Totally worth watching. Jurassic World 1 is basically just a bad remake of Jurassic Park, where the park is finally open, the main characters are annoying, and they've elected to go with a plot of "people were bored of dinosaurs, so now we're making absurdly dangerous super monsters that we can't control" - which is fucking stupid, because everyone LOVES regular zoos. No one is even tired of just going to see the penguins, so how THE FUCK are you gonna tell me people are "bored of dinosaurs". That's SO dumb. IMO, skipping Jurassic World 1 improves the other JW movies a LOT - It means we're introduced to MUCH better versions of Owen and Claire who aren't obnoxiously annoying, the supporting cast of characters aren't annoying, we're not just retreading a much dumber version of Jurassic Park, and the whole "selling genetically engineered monsters as weapons" plot gets brought to the forefront, instead of trying to pass off this "people got tired of normal dinosaurs" bullshit.
The point with electric fences is that they hurt, not that they seriously wound the animals trying to cross. A normal electric fence used for horses for example is weak enough that you can grip it. It HURTS, but you can hold it. But don't try it if you have a heart condition and / or a pacemaker of course.
Definitely read the novel! There are a few scenes that were cut for the movie. Although at least 2 of the missing scenes from the novel get worked into Jurassic Park 3. There might be more but it's been close to 30 years since I read it. Lol
So after this, let us see, the kids will need therapy for the rest of their lives, and the kid's parents are going to develop a "no more weekends with grandpa" policy for the kids. Hehe
All the dinosaurs come the Cretaceous Period, not the Jurassic, but "Cretaceous Park" doesn't sound as cool 😆 however they did make up for it in the excellent cartoon series "Camp Cretaceous". What the what? "Don't have enough mountains in Australia?" Are you sure you're Australian? 😎
