As a Sikh i would like to say that the reason behind Guru Gobind Singh Ji developing the brotherhood of Khalsa wasn't to 'take revenge's but to protect the community and other minority communities of the time. You did mentioned that he destroyed Kashi Vishwanath Temple and something similar was also done by his father. They did so to crush the Maratha Revolt. But unlike his father why did he built a Mosque there ? Many temples have been destroyed in history like Somnath temple was looted and destroyed many times but Mosque was never built upon it and that is why people were able to rebuild it. I don't really think Mughal rulers were that keen in conversions I mean if you want to rule that large part of land you have to live in harmony with locals. But Afghan rulers were different unlike Mughals they were savages. Wherever they went they forcefully tried to convert and Kashmir is the best example of it. 11:43 A little bit of correction. Aurangjeb didn't captured Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He invited him for negotiations but he house arrested him in Agra.
Re correction, Aurangzeb Invited him to his court to improve relations, however Shivajis Ego was hurt at the court since he was placed amongst the lower ranks in the assembly. due to this Shivaji stormed off the assembly and this was considered blasphemy and hence put under house arrest. If Aurangzeb wanted he could have hanged or beheaded but he didn't. However instead of asking for negotiation he devised to ran off hiding in fruit baskets.

Sambhaji was also restored as a Mughal mansabdar with 5,000 horses. Shivaji at that time sent Sambhaji, with general Prataprao Gujar, to serve with the Mughal viceroy in Aurangabad, Prince Mu'azzam. Sambhaji was also granted territory in Berar for revenue collection.Aurangzeb also permitted Shivaji to attack Bijapur, ruled by the decaying Adil Shahi dynasty. So yeah peace was an option...but No...Shivaji chose to rebel Again broke the peace treaty, which led to Marathas breaking up the Indian subcontinent and paved the way to the British empire to take over. I studied in a sikh school, and I studied elementary level sikh religion during my time there. There were immeasureable amount of atrocities inflicted on Indians during Aurangzeb's time. Murder, rape, pillage, and other unspeakable crimes were common sights. In fact, these horrors were so common, that our sikh brothers took up arms and picked up weapons just to protect common people-- and unfortunately, many of them died horrible deaths while fighting or after capture. I wholeheartedly agree that muslims today shouldn't be asked to pay for atrocities that these invaders inflicted. This invader mentality belongs to only a few in extremes. We also must ensure that we do not underplay the horrors that our ancestors had to live through under the Mughal empire.
Aurangzeb hated Hinduism because he believed it is a religion which teaches caste discrimination . Hinduism is a religion which teaches God created Brahmins from his head and Shudras from his feet. Even Br Ambedkar hated Hinduism.

Amazing video but a few corrections...... Guru Gobind Singh did not militarize the sikhs because he wanted to avenge his father. On the contrary, when Kashmiri Pandits came to the 9th guru it was the 8 year old Gobind Rai who encouraged his father to give his life for the hindus.. The formation of the khalsa and the militarization of the sikhs was only to save helpless people from the cruelties of mughals as well as anyone who used their power to terrorize the weak.

King Ashok spread Buddhism. But there is no evidence that he destroyed Hindu temples and punished hindu civilians. Hence his action cannot be compared with that of Aurangzeb.
In history You don't give proof for negative claim. You only give proof for positive claim. Eg If I say Ashoka was not Christian , I don't have to give proof. But If you want to deny this claim and say that Ashoka was Christian, then you will have to give proof. Similarly if you want to claim that Ashoka destroyed temples, then you will have to give proof.

Most of the archaeological excavation is done in the modern times which makes us aware of maurya empire and others. That means even until the time of end of mughal empire people had no idea of who Ashoka was. Maybe they had heard some oral folktales which had survived. One should not glorify Ashoka just because he wasn't a Muslim. He could have been cruel too.

Also I want to point out that ' revenge ' was never the purpose of formation of Khalsa. Guru Gobind Singh created and initiated the Khalsa as a warrior with a duty to protect the innocent from religious persecution or other inhumane practices( Khalsa is against the enemies of humanity not just Aurangzeb). Our ' non-revenge' policy is evident with the famous verse:ਇਨ ਪੁਤਰਨ ਕੇ ਸੀਸ ਪਰ ਵਾਰ ਦੀਏ ਸੁਤ ਚਾਰ, ਚਾਰ ਮੂਏ ਤੋ ਕਿਆ ਹੂਆ ਜੀਵਤ ਕਈ ਹਜਾਰ(in Gurmukhi) इन पुत्रन के शीश पर वार दिए सुत चार, चार मरे तो क्या हुआ, जीवित कई हजार(in Devnagri),In Putran Ke Sees Par Vaar Diye Sut Chaar, Chaar Muye To Kya Hua Jeevat Kayi Hazaar(in Latin script) which translates as: " I have sacrificed my four sons. So what if my four sons died, when thousands of Sikhs(sons like) are alive" . He never never discriminated between his own sons and his other Sikhs, so revenge is totally out of question. And, you also highly over simplified the Guru Teg Bahadur ji's history. In 1672, Guru Teg Bahadur traveled through Kashmir and the North-West Frontier, to meet the masses, as the persecution of non-Muslims reached new heights. It was in that time when non-muslims came for help to Guru Teg Bahadur. He challenged the authority that if they are able to convert the Guru to Islam the everyoone else will also happily convert to Islam. Guru Teg Bahadur left from his base at Makhowal to confront the persecution of Kashmiri Brahmins by Mughal officials but was arrested at Ropar and put to jail in Sirhind. Four months later, in November 1675, he was transferred to Delhi and asked to perform a miracle to prove his nearness to God or convert to Islam. The Guru declined and three of his colleagues, who had been arrested with him, were tortured to death in front of him: Bhai Mati Das was sawn into pieces, Bhai Dayal Das was thrown into a cauldron of boiling water, and Bhai Sati Das was burned alive. Thereafter, Tegh Bahadur was publicly beheaded in Chandni Chowk, a market square close to the Red Fort.

Historians like Ranabir Chakraborty, Romila Thapar and many more have stated Ashoka didn't announce Buddhism as state religion and secondly the "Dhamma" policy of Ashoka was not a process of spreading Buddhism but was a political move to unite diverse sub continent....In any reputed history book I've not read this , I may be wrong but I think the statement should be enquired once more ....but at last thank you once again for such an informative video in this era .

This tax is taken to protect the worshipping places of non-muslim and also because of it the muslim armies are obligated to protect the non-muslim and the non-muslim are also Won't be get drafted into the army. He changed the name of many ancient sacred Hindu cities like Mathura and Chattogram both became Islamabad, Varanasi became Muhammadabad. He didn't just ban music, he also banned the public celebration of many Hindu festivals like Diwali and Holi. He banned the construction of new temples, and old temples had their Shikharas dismantled. Not a single Hindu temple was allowed to be built in the capital city of Delhi during his reign. He closed down the Imperial Ateliers (kharkhanas) and stopped the funding of musicians; all the these talented people left the Royal courts in search for employment in princely states like Mewar. It was also during his reign that India's economic condition started to deteriorate with his extremely high taxes used to fund useless laws in the Deccan. Mohak also mentions that the Kashi Vishwanath Temple was destroyed because it was associated with Raja Man Singh but they may not be true. According to Aurangzeb's own Farman, he destroyed the Temple top stop Hindus from receiving any education and keeping in touch with their culture.

As a Sikh i would like to say that the reason behind Guru Gobind Singh Ji developing the brotherhood of Khalsa wasn't to 'take revenge's but to protect the community and other minority communities of the time. Revenge is not something the Guru seeks.

Islam, according to BR Ambedkar, could have never allowed a true Muslim to adopt India as his motherland. For that to happen, the establishment of Islamic rule was imperative.
This was a bleak possibility given that India was a Hindu majority nation. Therefore, he concluded that for a Musalman, India could never be his motherland. But Afghan rulers were different unlike Mughals they were savages. Wherever they went they forcefully tried to convert and Kashmir is the best example of it. Re correction, Aurangzeb Invited him to his court to improve relations, however Shivajis Ego was hurt at the court since he was placed amongst the lower ranks in the assembly. due to this Shivaji stormed off the assembly and this was considered blasphemy and hence put under house arrest. If Aurangzeb wanted he could have hanged or beheaded but he didn't. However instead of asking for negotiation he devised to ran off hiding in fruit baskets.

So yeah peace was an option...but No...Shivaji chose to rebel Again broke the peace treaty, which led to Marathas breaking up the Indian subcontinent and paved the way to the British empire to take over.

I studied in a sikh school, and I studied elementary level sikh religion during my time there.
There were immeasureable amount of atrocities inflicted on Indians during Aurangzeb's time. Murder, rape, pillage, and other unspeakable crimes were common sights. In fact, these horrors were so common, that our sikh brothers took up arms and picked up weapons just to protect common people-- and unfortunately, many of them died horrible deaths while fighting or after capture.
I wholeheartedly agree that muslims today shouldn't be asked to pay for atrocities that these invaders inflicted. This invader mentality belongs to only a few in extremes. We also must ensure that we do not underplay the horrors that our ancestors had to live through under the Mughal empire.
What about today's Muslims who considers Mughals as their forefathers and want to do the same?

Amazing video but a few corrections...... Guru Gobind Singh did not militarize the sikhs because he wanted to avenge his father. On the contrary, when Kashmiri Pandits came to the 9th guru it was the 8 year old Gobind Rai who encouraged his father to give his life for the hindus.. The formation of the khalsa and the militarization of the sikhs was only to save helpless people from the cruelties of mughals as well as anyone who used their power to terrorize the weak.

Most of the archaeological excavation is done in the modern times which makes us aware of maurya empire and others. That means even until the time of end of mughal empire people had no idea of who Ashoka was. Maybe they had heard some oral folktales which had survived.

Also I want to point out that ' revenge ' was never the purpose of formation of Khalsa. Guru Gobind Singh created and initiated the Khalsa as a warrior with a duty to protect the innocent from religious persecution or other inhumane practices( Khalsa is against the enemies of humanity not just Aurangzeb). Our ' non-revenge' policy is evident with the famous verse:ਇਨ ਪੁਤਰਨ ਕੇ ਸੀਸ ਪਰ ਵਾਰ ਦੀਏ ਸੁਤ ਚਾਰ, ਚਾਰ ਮੂਏ ਤੋ ਕਿਆ ਹੂਆ ਜੀਵਤ ਕਈ ਹਜਾਰ(in Gurmukhi) इन पुत्रन के शीश पर वार दिए सुत चार, चार मरे तो क्या हुआ, जीवित कई हजार(in Devnagri),In Putran Ke Sees Par Vaar Diye Sut Chaar, Chaar Muye To Kya Hua Jeevat Kayi Hazaar(in Latin script) which translates as: " I have sacrificed my four sons. So what if my four sons died, when thousands of Sikhs(sons like) are alive" . He never never discriminated between his own sons and his other Sikhs, so revenge is totally out of question. And, you also highly over simplified the Guru Teg Bahadur ji's history. In 1672, Guru Teg Bahadur traveled through Kashmir and the North-West Frontier, to meet the masses, as the persecution of non-Muslims reached new heights. It was in that time when non-muslims came for help to Guru Teg Bahadur. He challenged the authority that if they are able to convert the Guru to Islam the everyoone else will also happily convert to Islam. Guru Teg Bahadur left from his base at Makhowal to confront the persecution of Kashmiri Brahmins by Mughal officials but was arrested at Ropar and put to jail in Sirhind. Four months later, in November 1675, he was transferred to Delhi and asked to perform a miracle to prove his nearness to God or convert to Islam. The Guru declined and three of his colleagues, who had been arrested with him, were tortured to death in front of him: Bhai Mati Das was sawn into pieces, Bhai Dayal Das was thrown into a cauldron of boiling water, and Bhai Sati Das was burned alive. Thereafter, Tegh Bahadur was publicly beheaded in Chandni Chowk, a market square close to the Red Fort.

One thing to say , did Ashoka really do forced conversions? Historians like Ranabir Chakraborty, Romila Thapar and many more have stated Ashoka didn't announce Buddhism as state religion and secondly the "Dhamma" policy of Ashoka was not a process of spreading Buddhism but was a political move to unite diverse sub continent....In any reputed history book I've not read this , I may be wrong but I think the statement should be enquired once more ....but at last thank you once again for such an informative video in this era .

This tax is taken to protect the worshipping places of non-muslim and also because of it the muslim armies are obligated to protect the non-muslim and the non-muslim are also Won't be get drafted into the army. This tax is not oppressive. Muslim pays Zakat which in many cases are more than the Jijya Tax which gets imposed upon the non-muslim so being a muslim actually is a disadvantage.
Some other things that were not mentioned: Aurangzeb's other highly discriminatory laws and slavery laws in the Fatwa e Alamgiri that he personally wrote. His wars in the Deccan killed more than 2 million innocent civilians. He changed the name of many ancient sacred Hindu cities like Mathura and Chattogram both became Islamabad, Varanasi became Muhammadabad. He didn't just ban music, he also banned the public celebration of many Hindu festivals like Diwali and Holi. He banned the construction of new temples, and old temples had their Shikharas dismantled. Not a single Hindu temple was allowed to be built in the capital city of Delhi during his reign. He closed down the Imperial Ateliers (kharkhanas) and stopped the funding of musicians; all the these talented people left the Royal courts in search for employment in princely states like Mewar. It was also during his reign that India's economic condition started to deteriorate with his extremely high taxes used to fund useless laws in the Deccan. Mohak also mentions that the Kashi Vishwanath Temple was destroyed because it was associated with Raja Man Singh but they may not be true. According to Aurangzeb's own Farman, he destroyed the Temple top stop Hindus from receiving any education and keeping in touch with their culture.
