At first, I thought he ws gonna go through all of those recipes for the roof material to illustrate that it was an unreasonable amount of steps at this point. Then he just started doing it, and I was shocked.
Create Trains are so much cooler than shulker boxes for mass item transportation. Imagine a train network on a technical server connecting all the farms
I do not have to imagine it, some friends and I did that. It is extremely cool and we were pleasantly surprised to see that trains are not a big source of lag, the farms on the other side... The secret to succes was writing a document defining a standard for cargo train lengths, interface locations, min/max signal distance and naming to name a few. We also had a shared folder with schematics for things like two way T intersections. This allowed everybody to build their stuff without having to worry about trains not picking up cargo or intersection deadlocks.
For the ore washing filters, you should be able to add a tag to deny "Can be washed". It should help to make that process easier without having to blacklist blocks :) Nice episode again Ilmango!
For the washer filter. You might want to look into attribute filters if the recipe is enabled in the modpack. They differ from the regular filters in that it's more about, "capabilities" or "properties" of an item than the specific item. Things like which mod an item is from, if it's a tool etc. The one you'd be interested in would be the "Can be washed" property, a blacklist filter for that would prevent the funnel from accepting any washable items, and pickup only the results.
IRL trains, as we know them as opposed to older wooden track & cart versions, only really started once the industrial revolution had started & steel was in large supply. You're going to need a stupid amount of steel, but that's the fun of the Create mod. Making the assembly line to allow you to make the cool projects. Even if that cool project is just a way to get to your summer vacation home in good time, it's still worth it.
Something important to know is that the train track placement algorithm is really finnicky wirh slopes and will tell you that you can't place tracks when you actually can, if you do some weird setups, and the tracks connect and count as valid after
I guess you need to hit the mines of hematite. No Polar Express in the future? These trains seem cool to move tons of chests of inventory, not to mention animals. Yakety Yak Polar Express?
If you create a boring machine at a certain height above the ground, that destroys in a, say, 25 x 25 shape all the terrain in front of it. Then: let it automatically make a: 5-7 blocks of platform (you probably will need non-gravity blocks) in lower middle of it. Perhaps add 1-2 layers on the bottom for looks in a, respectively, 3-1 or 5-3 pattern. Then you have a platform that is hovering above the ground, somewhere near ground level, or underground (in case of mountains or hills) on this platform you could then easily lay your train tracks, and if it is wide enough you should also be able to build supports if necessary. If it is not possible to do so with non-gravity blocks then you could also just pick a suitable height at which there is always ground below and make like an “ n “ shape (or just lay the tracks on the bottom of the square but this will make it look less good when) and fill up the entire body of the “ n “ with blocks you get from running the machine. At a lower ground level you will be getting plenty of blocks, but at a level above ground you would have to probably enlarge the drilling area ( or turn it into another shape instead of a square). If you can do the floating platform or if the drilling area is large enough it might also be possible to let the sides of the dug out walls collapse, (with a flying machine maybe?) but only if it does not mess up whatever is in the middle to support the train tracks. If the centre of your machine is somewhere above ground level you will also be mining interesting blocks. Finally, you could also just process some of your own blocks into non-gravity blocks and attach those as storage to the drill and let those be placed automatically, and if you build the minecart tracks for the drilling machine already near the centre of the drill a platform would be needed anyway.
This series is absolutely top notch. But about the mod pack I'd really like to see the Nether and End having the same "realism" treatment and becoming accessible, with the same ultra slow progression curve
Waiting for ilmango to replace the windmill with a nuclear powered turbine generator. I know it’s not in the game but I know ilmango will figure it out.
not too far off given how nuclear reactors essentially are steam engines, you can set up a huge steam engine in create and use similarly dangerous means of powering the burners automatically
The platform of the train can be one block lower so it doesn't look that retarded. If you hold slabs instead of full blocks in the offhand, it will fill the space below the tracks more nicely. Also, use ctrl when placing tracks, it makes both curves and slopes smoother.
This mod is awesome, the one thing that could really push it to the next level would be a finite water/water physics mod. There are a few for the current versions of the game that I'm sure could be tweaked to work with the drinking mechanic. One step closer to the ultimate survival game.
Good to know! So far I just rode them into the seat, but that didn't work properly all the time. Is there another trick for getting them out of the seat? Right clicking the seat works, but is unreliable too
Hey Mango, Really enjoying this series. Have been watching every episode on releaseday. Just wondering since you mentioned it in one of the first episodes and I quite enjoyed that one aswell: Are you planning on returning to the skyblock series eventually? If yes, will it be in the near future?
I have been wondering if you could put drills on both sides of the mining machine so it could possibly break the obsidian on its way back up if it gets stuck.
hey ilmango, your ATFC playlist is missing all the episode from 18 onwards. Might be that you've just been too busy to take care of it, but I figured I'd mention it in case it simply slipped your mind.
the elytra is cool, but is way too op and has made most roads obsolete, which i think is in itself a bad thing. i have a vanilla world since 1.8 and when i startet it i made sure to have some kind of road between my different places, of course it was an ice road in the nether connecting every portal, i still try to maintain it but after the elytra it is more tedious to do so, not because i got lazy of it, but because i am not really using it. before the elytra i remenber using that ice road all the time while in my world, so expanding it was never a chore, was a time saver. in fact, since that was also before shulkers i also had a railroad in the middle of the ice road and i could put minecarts there with stuff, all rails reached a place were they unloaded into an storage system... and sure, shulkers have made the transport easier now, but is easier better? because i was quite fond of my take on the issue, only now is simply more convenient to just carry everything on you in shulkers. but well, i suppose that is what minecraft vanilla is these days, a race to make the game as easy as possible so that nobody has to do anything interesting.
i dont really get the need to go back to that. the start was great because of all the limitations and having to think outside the box. by the end he basically won and got everything. what else was there to do? slab over the entire world and turn it into a regular survival world? would just be copy pasting regular farms at that point
My create train heart is crying a bit on the inside since you didnt hold Ctrl while making your tracks to smooth them out, but I suppose it doesn't have too much of a practical disadvantage other than looking janky. Although I'm not sure, the train might go faster if the tracks are smooth and have a long curve over hills or around corners etc.
I don't know about elevations, but short curves do affect the maximum speed and thus should be avoided. But let's be real: Even if they didn't, large curves look so much better anyway
Create feels like the right balance between content-intense mecha tech mods that go way over the top with machinery and automation, and the humble/simple pseudo-medieval aesthetic and dynamic of the base game.
