@@bnr32jason I have played my Vita from over 100 miles away and It was still lightyears ahead of the mobile remoteplay. Still I would rather move to PC than buy a remoteplay only handheld.
@@guilhermegoldman that's fine, I wouldn't mind spending a couple hundred bucks to be able to play my PS5 on a dedicated device anywhere on my property.
Personally when I want to do remote play, I use the PSPlay app and a Razor Kishi controller. Best $50 I spent for the 3-4 times a year I use the feature.
The PSPlay remote play app for Android works so much better for me. It has both custom resolution and bitrate options that lets me dial in a much smoother experience when streaming away from home. You have to set up port forwarding but it's easy if you have a decent router.
I use the official app and frankly it’s as good as playing local most of the time. I imagine Bob didn’t have his PS5 on an Ethernet cable. PS5 likes to skip frames when it’s only on wifi where Xbox drops video quality. Because of that, Xbox does better on shaky connections but even on strong connections, it can still feel like you’re playing a 720p UA-cam video.
Some routers will do it automatically, but my new one didn't. Still, it was easy and totally worth it. I'd say it was even more reliable once I set it manually.
It's also a paid app which should be a big no no, just because Sony can't write a adequate remote play app. Chiaki is free but requires python script to setup 😅
I think the Q will really only appeal to people that want to play but only have one TV. So if someone else wants to watch tv or something, they could. That is really specific though…
This was pretty much one of the major things shown in the marketing with the Wii U when it was first reveled. I remember in the E3 trailer for the system, it showed someone playing a game on the system, and someone else wanted to watch TV and they just continued playing on the Gamepad.
I think they know it’s gonna be niche, it’s kinda Sony’s MO to just test the waters and see how it goes rather than going all in on something like Microsoft and Nintendo like to do. Probably won’t have to sell much to get R&D money back.
The Project Q is an example of something that will likely fail due to its restrictions. Basically why buy something that only has one use, when instead you can go for something that has a primary purpose that also allows you to use it for other things. The steam deck is a good example of this since its primary use is obviously to play your steam games while on the go, but you can also access the linux desktop and run your own things, which you can also add to steam. Same for the Rog Ally, same for any android based emulation device. Controllers can be used on multiple systems as well so i don't mind the price they charge for them, the project Q will likely be quite expensive and likely still usable as a controller similar to the ps5 controller on pc and such, but it would be the dumbest controller you can use. 🙄
@@That0neDud indeed, assuming it has the capability to emulate, or if you can somehow set it up as a secondary monitor for that purpose and emulate from the tv. 🤔 Hackers will find a way im sure, followed with a Cease and Desist because sony doesnt like fun.
i don't think it will given ps5 game streaming got introduced the other day, likely in preparation for this q lite, so if like xcloud will allow u to just sub to ps plus and then play everything, it's an easy success, hopefully they also allow it to be an app to be played on any device, which the leak of it being android based implies as well
I’m guessing the overhaul is on its way. They just announced the PS+ premium subscribers are getting the streaming option for included games to test, which bids well with the issue for streaming. Although, I don’t see how they will address in-home streaming issues with the QLite.
I don’t expect an overhaul. I think they’ll add PS5 machines to the backend for non-remote play streaming. But I doubt they’ll ever make a dedicated app for it on mobile or anything and stick to remote play. Sony would rather make you buy a console. And realistically, most people don’t really use XCloud regularly. I say this as someone who likes game streaming. But, most other people just try it and then go like “cool” and never again.
Today was an awful day, lot of issues, then it hit me “i need to watch some Wulff Den videos” it always helps clear my head and it’s always super interesting and entertaining. Thank you so much Bob for doing what you do, it means more than you’ll ever know
@@TheMysteryDriver Where are you getting this information from? I own a Switch and I take it everywhere i go. Do you also think that most owners of a Steam Deck don't take it with them on the go even when they own a PC?
@@mikearonicheese If you think about it, the idea of "most Switch usage is at home" makes sense - most people live at their home (lol) more than they are travelling, so thinking that most of Switch usage is at home makes a lot of sense. That doesn't mean that using it on the go is a non-existent use case, just that the more common case is using it at home.
The app PS Play on Android works way better than the official PS Remote. It works with almost any controller (I use a Chinese GameSir X2) and has some cool tweaks, like resolution, HDR+, button mapping, dead zone tunning and lots more.
I have both as well. Ps play though to get the remote play working where evere you are out side of your home, you need to set the port forward up. Other then that, I love it.
I'd be very interested to see how you could integrate remote play with a device like the xreal air glasses, especially with xreals new Beam adapter which adds more AR functionality to the glasses.
If this device becomes a PS+ premium streaming device, the pricing could actually be very competitive. Instead of treating it like an accessory, they could market it as an alternative platform and sell it at a loss. Instead of being a 300$+ price, they could sell it in the 100-200$ range. Then of course, they would be able to gain money on subscription sales and such. I doubt they'd do this, but you never know.
Honestly I know even if I’m not interested in the topic for your video I’m going to enjoy it anyway. You do a great job filming, editing, and presenting your videos in a great way!
Getting Chiaki to work is extremely easy.. how the hell did you not figure that out? Just log into a special link they provide and then copy and paste the code in the link after log in. Did you do like zero research?!? Theres so many resources and UA-cam tutorials. No need to use a script wtf?
Chiaki on deck is pretty good, I knocked it before because the quality dropped drastically but after connecting Ethernet to ps5 it’s pretty much flawless only thing I can’t figure out is trying to connect over different networks
I still have problems to this day with a Chiaki app. I’ve tried everything from Wi-Fi 6 to ethernet to changing the bit rate, but I can’t get a consistently good experience like I can with XCloud. I know there are some people who don’t have issues with that app on steam deck, but even I, who works in IT, cannot troubleshoot this thing to get it to work consistently.
yeah using chiaki over different networks is the only thing I'm missing. I wish sony would just make an official remote play program for linux so I could easily use it outside the house
I use remote play to my note 20 ultra with a clip for an extra dual sense controller I had. Works great at home for me! Only annoyance is that you can't adjust the aspect ratio. Since the note is so tall it gives black bars on each side when in landscape
S22 ultra and s23 ultra are basically the same screen size too and specs. I cracked my screen on my s22u and the price to fix it is ridiculous compared to the note 20. I'm back on the note 20 , best phone for gamepass or any gaming cause the screen is perfect.
It depends. Sony can just as well create their own streaming technology for lower latency and higher bitrate, similar to WiiU. Or at least some low level optimization. Currently the low bitrate it’s really annoying even in great connections. Besides that the dualsense functionalities are also really important for native games.
I bought a first generation iPad Pro 12.9” for $175, a PS5 controller for $30 during a GameStop sale, and hooked up PS4 remote play. Pair it with a fancy stand that folds up and lets you attach it to the wall in places where you tend to sit a lot, and you’ve got a way better Project Q. I rocked all of Elden Ring and Bloodborne on it.
You mentioned that you need to use an official controller on Remote Play, but I actually managed to use a GameSir X2 bluetooth to play PS5 remotely on my iPhone. It didn’t work on my first try, though. I have to open the app and connect to the PS5 first and then turn the controller on. If I turn the controller on before connecting to the console, an error message appears, but it doesn’t mention anything about the controller, so it might be just a bug.
Only thing I'll add is screen size. Project Q has an 8-inch screen. Phones are smaller, especially when you stream a 16:9 rectangle on the phone's wider aspect ratio screen. To me, this feels like easily the biggest selling point of the Q, and I'm a little surprised Sony isn't working this angle more. For me, PS streaming via the Chiaki app on Steam Deck is getting the job done. Surprisingly steady quality in my home.
Sony announces projest Q and says gaming with streaming is still in the future. Meanwhile Xbox users have been playing games like Arkham Knight, Shadow of War, FIFA, and Forza on their phones. For 3 years.
I've used Remote Play a ton. On a 5G connection in the suburbs on an iPhone 12 Pro Max, I get high quality streaming with only a small noticeable input delay. I wouldn't recommend playing R6 Siege in a moving bus or car, but if you sit down somewhere stationary and you happen to have a good 5G connection, Remote Play is rather seemless. Unfortunately my Intel mac has a really buggy WiFi adapter and it freaks out whenever a nearby Apple device is woken up, which causes issues while playing over LAN. This is a Mac or Apple-specific issue tho, it has something to do with the AWDL interface that Apple likes to use to talk to other devices which clouds the WLAN.
As someone who has gone through multiple Dualsense controllers due to drift, Project Q is DOA unless they implement the Dualsense Edge analog replacement function. I also find it ironic that Sony purchased Gaikai - one of the first game streaming companies in the industry; and still struggles with their approach to streaming (both local or server)
Two things. Maybe they can make a Project Q work like a normal, extra controller for the PS5 without remote play. That might help justify the price. The other is that PS+ remote play is not available in all regions. Either the pricing or the network infrastructure still is just not working for whatever reason.
PlayStation needs to just cancel this one and make it a ps vita 2 instead with compatibility for the old ps vita carts maybe even the old school ejectable UMD slot from the psp 1000 for the luls i want to see REAL competition on how these companies are helping us use our purchases from our old consoles still be able to be playable. Xbox is leading this industry currently. imagine Nintendo dropped a New Nintendo 3ds XL HD with 1080p OLED screens a New Processor New OS and a GBA slot. ALL of these companies should be making creative ways for us to use our old physical games currently. That holiday season would look like the ps2 launch. They need to think about what's going to increase the longevity of the games and physical media we already own. I would RATHER buy a HD remastered CONSOLE from Nintendo that natively upscales games to the current popular resolutions BASED ON THEIR OWN QUALITY ASSURANCE, than a HD remaster of a old game, imagine if they relaunch and upgrade these old consoles like every 5 years we just get a console war year lol every company launches HD versions of old consoles. imagine a NES HD with online that USES your own game carts. Or a gamecube Or a Ps2. like SHIIIIIT
I play an hour or so of remote play with the ps5 a day. Here's my set up and it works flawlessly for me on the Steam Deck: Chiaki4Deck, wired PS5, connected to the 5ghz wifi band... on the app itself choose vaapi as the encoder and use a bit rate of 30,000 and a resolution of 720p. Works for me, not sure if it'll work for everyone but I've beaten whole ass games this way lol.
The only thing I can say about project Q is the fact that it may incorporate all the haptics that you cannot get in any of the other devices. My PlayStation backbone seems to fail as you mention connecting to remote play and it’s quite frustrating. I think the project Q will be some thing for Sony to really Quality control before they get it out to the market.
I used to have HUGE issues with remote play with iPhone 14Pro and a Backbone... until I hardwired my PS5 into the router. Now it runs 60FPS no problem anywhere in my house. I get about 1 unstable network notification an hour and it seems to always resolve itself in 3 seconds. I wouldn't recommend remote play for anything that you are being competitive in - or games where response time is EVERYTHING (SF and the like). But I played pretty much all of Hogwarts Legacy in remote play and it was a good experience.
I'm using chiaki on the Ally with native controls and it's honestly pretty damn impressive. Haven't done it yet but you can port forward as well so you can play remote, PS5 just needs to be in sleep mode back at home. but i mostly use it to play from bed :)
Great product been using it for awhile but it’s too expensive and not the best build quality. Could get a cheaper dual sense controller on discount and a cheap phone mount. This is convenient though for on the go public transport stuff.
As someone who plays both Xbox and PS via remote play and XCloud on a regular basis, it’s unfortunate that he has such a negative experience with PS remote play. I’m guessing he didn’t connect his PS5 to Ethernet and was on wifi. Xbox likes to drop quality to keep the stream going while PS likes to skip frames. Also: 1. PS remote play doesn’t require a code on official app 2. On same network or good wifi and the PS in Ethernet, PS remote works best. Almost the as good as local play. 3. Xbox works best on shaky internet since it’ll drop quality and not frames. But looks like playing a 480p video. Worse on same network + Ethernet because (I think) Xbox hits there servers even on same network. 4. Azure backend is irrelevant for remote play on PS since that’s not really used since there is no cloud servers with remote play. My internet can cut out on the same network and keep playing.
Remote play works surprisingly well. I play it at my GFs place through wifi, in hotels across the world, even on the bus through cell data. On the bus the connection fades in and out. But in all other scenarios is almost perfect. And the backbone works and feels fantastic. There is a TINY delay. So I wouldn’t play twitchy games like COD. I use for it for RPGs like Wrath of the Righteous.
This would be the best streaming handheld on the market if it wasn't so limited. I don't really care what it looks like because it will be extremely comfortable to hold and has a great screen. As someone who almost always streams to avoid hogging the good TV, I would buy this in a second if it also worked with PC streaming.
I’ve been using my steam deck to stream my ps5 and series x. And it works friggin great actually surprisingly good. Completely obsoletes the project q for me.
The backbone for xbox also works with the official PS remote play app, I did not like the sticks on the backbone and I ended up using PS play with a Gamesir X2 Pro which is primarily designed for Gamepass....
@@Otacon1105 yeah, I meant to say that the Gamesir is certified for gamepass, but it actually quite good for PSplay because you can even make the whole screen be the touchpad with that app, and also lets you choose codec, bitrate and resolution. For me it works better that the official playstation app, but you have to configure your router and all but other than that it is superior, and a little more seamless that chiaki
I played most of Crisis Core Reunion through remote play because it was out around Christmas, so the living room tv wasn’t easily available every second with family around. Even got the platinum on it. Remote play works best when you’re on the same network as your ps5, but even then it does still act goofy at times. Any time I’ve ever used it on either cellular or different Wi-Fi it just doesn’t work right. I have the backbone for iPhone and it’s definitely nice, although now that I have a steam deck I’m planning on only using it through chiaki for remote play stuff.
I sold my Backbone. I thought it was super cool but I found that I almost never had a situation to use it because of the necessary wifi connection. Ideally I’d wanna play it on long car rides, but it always just made more sense to play my Switch.
I mean u could hv used it to play Cod Mobile, Minecraft, and diablo. Also u hv a phone so im pretty sure u hv 4g lte to 5g which is enough to stream and just connect ur ps5 to ethernet. I use it for moonlight+sunshine and i can play my pc anywhere as long as i hv 5g on my phone
Probably better off ditching the streaming and use the PlayStation games natively on the Steam Deck. Although admittedly I've heard The Last of Us has some issues, maybe even other playstation 'exclusive' games tol. Days Gone, Uncharted Collection, God if War are there on the Steam store I that as much.
Mind you I’ve only played on my iPad Pro and with a generic HORI game pad on my own house set up, but I have found it SUPER-responsive and great for doing “a little thinking in my office with the porcelain chair. I’m very interested in the Backbone as most seem to really like it, and even though I’d probably be considered a PS Fanboy, the Q just feels like a “who is this for?” Situation. With everyone having a cell phone these days and $100 for a backbone with cheaper options, I don’t see this being needed unless they open up its capabilities.
Just set up remote play on my steam deck and it’s not hard just 4 copy and paste and it works well. The sound did crackle at times but I was playing Doom Eternal and no issues
the PSPlay Android app works really well when I use my G Cloud for streaming Playstation games. Works better than the PSRemote app and controls natively work on the device
The most important thing is to get a high speed WiFi for both ends. Like WiFi 6, or 5. I use Chiaki with my Steam Deck. PS5 connected physically to the WIFI6 router. The Deck supports WiFi5 and playing through remote play with this setup feels like PS5 games run natively on the Deck.
Yaas!!!! I've already bagged up both my Switch and Steam Deck and plan to smash both with a sledgehammer! Who needs that junk when the Q is on the way!! The Q stands for "PerQfect"!!
Wait, am I misunderstanding something? I have the Playstation Remote Play app, and I am able to play just fine with a 3rd party controller (GameSir X2) plugged into my iPhone? It doesn't ask or force me to use the Dualsense at all?
Hello there, i just received my backbone ps5 gen2 controller for my Razer Edge 5g but i cant get the TouchSync to work on games (tried Genshin impact and Honkai rail). By any chance did yours work?
I cant connect to remote play app outside my home wifi on a mobile network. my mobile network in the UK "EE" suuposed to be only have NAT type 3 and my console is on NAT type 2 so conflicting. Managed to change NAT type on mobile by running VPN but then it is turning PS5 one I can even get notification on PS5 that I am connected remotely but then remote play app say connection is slow. I am getting 90MB download on an average testing on few different websites. I wonder same will happen on PRoject Q?
The title of this video is exactly what I was thinking when my friend was disappointely explaining to me what Project Q actually was...I always forget the WiiU aspect of only going so far with it too! lol...
I just stream to my laptop or phone usually if i want to play in bed or something, but the main problem with remote play is no ability to throttle download speeds, i have gigabit internet and good wifi coverage though the whole house, but as soon as i want to download a game or update, remote play implodes. It's also annoying that the mic and all the video streaming apps don't work in remote play. Even at the best of times the bitrate on remote play seems shockingly low, it's about on par with game pass, which is crazy considering game pass is streaming from servers.
I tried remote play with my PS4 wired directly into my router from my desktop computer that was also wired to the router and just a few feet away and got a heavily compressed image with a horrible delay. I put Chiaki on my phone and laptop and can play anywhere in the house wirelessly with a barely noticeable delay and a picture almost as good as a screen connected directly to the PS4 via HDMI, plus I can use whatever controller I want
I feel like the Backbone is perfect if you are very desperate to play a game on the go, but you’re willing to sacrifice having a perfect experience with it Like, I am probably not going to try and play some high intensity mission in red dead redemption two, but it might be nice to be able to pick up the poker game that I left off
Just try BSP-D3. This is attachable bt controller that has dualshock4 mode, type c charging, full set of buttons(+ additional in the back) and cost only 10-15 bucks. Yeah, a bit cheap plastic, but overall this is a great device to try out all remote play stuff with you phone, especially for the price. Really confused that nobody talks about it.
For me it works really well. I work out of town every week and I only bring my Switch with me. But now I can play my PS5 games from anywhere!! I dont know what was wrong with your connectivity issues but for me it ran pretty smooth I use android and even during a Thunderstorm yesterday I had a pretty good experience I played games like Returnal, Spiderman PS4, and even FFXIV Online pretty well and my wifi isnt that great back home and it can be a toss up when I stay at Airbnbs or hotels. I leave my PS5 on rest mode so I dont have to turn it on constantly so maybe that helps with it turning off randomly or not turning on from the app. Project Q is a super weird choice for Playstation I agree especially when you have a phone which alos has touch controls from the app too! Theres many ways to play using Remote Play. Hopwfully that helps but yeaa sorry PS Remote play wasnt working well for you
I often use remote play for my PS5 on my PC so I can play over discord and share my game screen, feels great. Only issue ever is that it sometimes freezes for 4 seconds or so every 10 - 20 minutes. I don't know how to stop this issue though
I don't have a PS5 and I don't plan on getting one or the project Q. But I love my Backbone controller. The only problem I see is how how the phone gets in the summer. I play Genshin Impact and I cannot play for long because it gets too hot. So I think that's why a Project Q is superior over a phone + controller. It has air vents.
I’ve used an 8bitdo SN30+ with my iPhone and iPad for remote play. With my old ps4 pro it was a bit of a mess. Ps5 I’ve had a lot more luck remote playing within my apartment. So idk. But my 8bitdo controller seems to work just fine
Honestly I just 3d printed a mount for my phone and dualsense like you did. It's so much better than my steam deck for remote play. If is free it's worth it, but I wouldn't invest real money on P.Q.
Wild how different people have massively different experience. I use Chiaki on my steam deck and I had very small audio hiccups occasionally. and I can play this bad boy at work with work wifi ( so 3 separate VPNs) and it's still a decent experience. Maybe chiaki just works better that than native app.
The PS remote play app works great on my iPad Pro. Can’t remember if it required a code when I first set it up, but I haven’t had to enter one since. Easy to connect a PS5 controller too. Don’t notice much lag at all
Exactly this is overpriced for something you can already do using your phone. Like for real though what is Sony smoking. $300 for what is basically 2 dualsense halves glued to an I pad, not to mention it can't even play its own games it's streaming only. So you can't even play it on the go unless you have a wifi connection and a ps5 with you. What a dumb idea by sony
@@dayoldbread1696 $300 would be a ridiculous price. I was considering it if they priced it below $200, but then I found out about the iPad app. I really only need remote play when my kids are hogging the tv and the only game I want to be able to play outside of the house is Diablo 4. It’s way cheaper to just buy a second copy of the game for PC to play on my steam deck
The joy stick placement is pretty important to PlayStation fans. I use a PS4 controller on my Switch for that reason. The D-pad is also in a better place for a lot of games too. Especially 2D platformers.
is the controller restriction for only certain platforms? I use my Joycons on my iPad with the official PS remote play app. I have not come across being forced to use a PS4 or PS5 controller.
Going on Sony's idea. I totally want something like this for PC gaming BUT it has to have Alt Display Port connecting both the local 7" touch screen and built-in controller over that single Type-C in connection. It's basically a tethered steamdeck without any APU or battery connected directly to your host PC or xbox yada (assuming it has hdmi adapter). The point here is no custom SOC, no streaming nonsense. It would be much cheaper than owning an Ally or steamdeck.
Im sat in bed with my girlfriend who sleeps early, I wanted to play my ps5 so used remote play on my iPad with my DualSense which was janky. A quick google led me to project Q and I can’t wait. Not every consumer is so into games and tech like you guys.
I am a motor coach bus driver and I'm on the road quite a bit. If this project Q turns out to be something more than just what it initially claims to be then I would love to not have to pack my PS5 everytime I hit the road.
It took a minute to setup chiaki on my steam deck. And even after that it had a lot of audio cracking issues. But those were resolved by tweaking the audio bit-rate. So now it all actually works. You can use the touch screen as the touch pad just like the project Q I assume. So I think yes you can use the third-party app and joystick but they are all janky. So I think Sony realized there is a market for this if it all works seamlessly.
always fun to watch these videos. I was able to get PS Remote Play working on ROG Ally using the devices controller (not external) BUT it only work in the menu. Once you load a game, controls stopped working. Im hoping they update it to allow "3rd" party controllers since there are 3rd party PS5 controllers out there.
It’s interesting that you’re having problems with the PlayStation app now, because I also have been having problems with it recently. But when Persona 5 came out on the PS4, I broke my leg and was able to play that entire game on my Vita using RemotePlay, and it was fantastic. Not sure what has happened since then to make the experience terrible.
Vita's remoteplay compared to the mobile app is the difference between being able to play RDR online from over 100 miles away to having a hard time messing with your settings while starting at your console with both It and the phone on the same 5g connection! I find the app to be simply unserviceable.
Try the gamevice flex if you liked the razor kishi that gamepad lets you play an you don't have to take the case off your phone it adjust itself to whatever size case you have on your phone an it's a headphone jack as well as pass thru charging it's like a upgraded razor kishi V1
I hate how most handhelds botch the screen. Imagine how dumbfounding Project Q would have been with an OLED screen, something that all beefy handhelds actually lack.
If steam deck and rog ally put top of the line screens in them, that would drive prices up to the point where most people, would say "yeah. That's cool. But that's way too expensive for a handheld" They are currently using off the shelf screens, because that is what's most cost effective. They could design and manufacture a screen for it, like Nintendo does (I think?) But that would drive the price up even more. I'd love to have a better screen on my steam deck just as much as anybody else. But you have to factor in the price increase that would come along with it. Steam deck is already likely being sold at a loss at 400, and they get their money by selling you games. Which is probably why they didn't jump to put a more expensive screen in it
@@leftovernoiseOLED screens are not THAT much more expensive at a factory level. The problem is that Nintendo currently has the 7" OLED screen production absolutely cornered so there's nothing easily available for these other companies. Release a Steam Deck OLED version for $100 more and tons of people would buy it.
@@leftovernoisealso, Valve could have done a lot better with their choice of LCD screens. They basically picked an absolute bargain basement screen. Had they spent another $5 each on the screen, we could have got an IPS LCD screen with MUCH better color and contrast ratio.

@@bnr32jason They absolutely could have done better. But I'm sure they had a price point the penny pinchers required them to hit. And I'm sure they had reasons for picking the screen they did. I think Linus Tech Tips titled this well with "Sony Unveils the Wii-U". The Wii-U didn't sell well, but I still use mine to this day. I think the Wii-U had it well because it was £250, whereas the Project Q is "between $199 and $299" and also requires a PS5. It's an odd one, but I'm excited to see how it goes.

Some routers will do it automatically, but my new one didn't. Still, it was easy and totally worth it. I'd say it was even more reliable once I set it manually.
I run it off an nvidia shield hooked up to a projector in a different room so I'm not hogging the tv
It's also a paid app which should be a big no no, just because Sony can't write a adequate remote play app. Chiaki is free but requires python script to setup 😅
I want to try the PS play app, but I'm scared to do the port forwarding
I think the Q will really only appeal to people that want to play but only have one TV. So if someone else wants to watch tv or something, they could. That is really specific though…
This was pretty much one of the major things shown in the marketing with the Wii U when it was first reveled. I remember in the E3 trailer for the system, it showed someone playing a game on the system, and someone else wanted to watch TV and they just continued playing on the Gamepad.
But they can just get a Backbone for cheaper.
Yes but, how probably is that someone who can afford the Q can't afford a better TV for the same price
I think they know it’s gonna be niche, it’s kinda Sony’s MO to just test the waters and see how it goes rather than going all in on something like Microsoft and Nintendo like to do.
Probably won’t have to sell much to get R&D money back.
And it's far more expensive than a relatable 2nd HDMI display.
It would be a cool controller for wii u emulation
@@That0neDud indeed, assuming it has the capability to emulate, or if you can somehow set it up as a secondary monitor for that purpose and emulate from the tv. 🤔
Hackers will find a way im sure, followed with a Cease and Desist because sony doesnt like fun.
Hes pretending it has only has one use, its not fact.
steam deck and the rog ally don't have all the games I want to play. Like Sony exclusives that aren't on steam.
i don't think it will given ps5 game streaming got introduced the other day, likely in preparation for this q lite, so if like xcloud will allow u to just sub to ps plus and then play everything, it's an easy success, hopefully they also allow it to be an app to be played on any device, which the leak of it being android based implies as well
I’m guessing the overhaul is on its way. They just announced the PS+ premium subscribers are getting the streaming option for included games to test, which bids well with the issue for streaming. Although, I don’t see how they will address in-home streaming issues with the QLite.
I really hope they do that because I tried the app for my ps4 and it suck and made me a bit disappointed
@@lucapeyrefitte6899 I just saw the option to stream PS5 games pop up on my system yesterday. Haven't tested it though.
@@lucapeyrefitte6899 it's crazy how the Vita stands alone as the single bearable remoteplay experience well over 10 years after It lauched!
Thank you so much Bob for doing what you do, it means more than you’ll ever know
❤ Hope things went better:>
This is just the Wii U concept all over again....and we all know how that turned out. Good job, Sony.
Maybe Sony handheld team lost their colective shit once the Vita flopped so hard! Lol
They know that most people use their switch in handheld mode at home and not on the go. Wii U was ahead of its time and the range sucked.
That doesn't mean that using it on the go is a non-existent use case, just that the more common case is using it at home.
the Wii U was better and cheaper
The app PS Play on Android works way better than the official PS Remote. It works with almost any controller (I use a Chinese GameSir X2) and has some cool tweaks, like resolution, HDR+, button mapping, dead zone tunning and lots more.
I have both as well. Ps play though to get the remote play working where evere you are out side of your home, you need to set the port forward up. Other then that, I love it.
I tried the app and within a day or two someone was trying to hack my psn account, so I haven't trusted it since.
To get the true experience you do have to cut the controller in half
You should have gone with the PSPlay app for your trip instead. Way better than the native PS Remote app.
Murdered Kojima's name 😭😂
I'd be very interested to see how you could integrate remote play with a device like the xreal air glasses, especially with xreals new Beam adapter which adds more AR functionality to the glasses.
If this device becomes a PS+ premium streaming device, the pricing could actually be very competitive. Instead of treating it like an accessory, they could market it as an alternative platform and sell it at a loss. Instead of being a 300$+ price, they could sell it in the 100-200$ range. Then of course, they would be able to gain money on subscription sales and such. I doubt they'd do this, but you never know.
Why not support the Vita?! It was the main reason why I wouldn't upgrade to a PS5 but now I'm just looking into buying a PC.
Honestly I know even if I’m not interested in the topic for your video I’m going to enjoy it anyway. You do a great job filming, editing, and presenting your videos in a great way!
Yeah couldn't give a shit about project q, but watching Bob throw a bunch of interesting things on screen makes my goblin brain happy.
I call it Backbone. I’ve had mine since it released and love it. The project Q makes as much sense as the N Gage
I always use chiaki on my deck and it’s great. I’m not sure why he had to run a Java script for it cuz I never had to do any of that.
@@562.anthony2 you May need to do different methods because it’s on android, probably had to find the true user ID like we do but a different way
I heard chiaki can work outside of your home network by port forwarding
yeah using chiaki over different networks is the only thing I'm missing.
Oh you can go into developer mode and emulate a diffrent screen sizes
3:56 I've never been more annoyed in behalf of a dog lol. Dude, go away! I'm eating! 😂🐕
It depends.
Sony can just as well create their own streaming technology for lower latency and higher bitrate, similar to WiiU.
Or at least some low level optimization.
Currently the low bitrate it’s really annoying even in great connections.
Besides that the dualsense functionalities are also really important for native games.
I’m using PSPlay on my Retroid Pocket 3+ and am having no problems. Got through a few dungeons in Diablo 4 and it’s great
I bought a first generation iPad Pro 12.9” for $175, a PS5 controller for $30 during a GameStop sale, and hooked up PS4 remote play.
Same I use the deck or my phone with some joycons
Well, technically you could use a tablet
At this point just turn on a tv! Smh
That’s exactly why I’m probably buying it, if it doesn’t cost a fortune
Bob has to be TRYING to pronounce “Hideo” that poorly 😂😂😂
I finally figured out your voice lmao 😂😂😂. You sound like squidward finally cleared up his sinuses.
Good video anyway
As someone who has gone through multiple Dualsense controllers due to drift, Project Q is DOA unless they implement the Dualsense Edge analog replacement function.
I also find it ironic that Sony purchased Gaikai - one of the first game streaming companies in the industry; and still struggles with their approach to streaming (both local or server)
So it's a Wii U gamepad... wow
Two things. Maybe they can make a Project Q work like a normal, extra controller for the PS5 without remote play. That might help justify the price. The other is that PS+ remote play is not available in all regions. Either the pricing or the network infrastructure still is just not working for whatever reason.
It wakes up over remote play if you put it in rest mode and allow it to in settings
I think the project Q will be some thing for Sony to really Quality control before they get it out to the market.
you can get haptics streaming from your pc instead of your ps5
Or you can use tails :)
Also:
1. PS remote play doesn’t require a code on official app
‘We already have Project Q at home’
Project Q at home:
The backbone for xbox also works with the official PS remote play app, I did not like the sticks on the backbone and I ended up using PS play with a Gamesir X2 Pro which is primarily designed for Gamepass....
Idk how to tell you this but these controllers are not “primarily designed” for anything. They’re just controllers. Just use what works for you.
Ps remote play was amazing for going through CC:R missions.
Don't ya got offline games??? I emulate ps1 and ps2 games on mine.
@@lexkek5625 i stream it from my pc to my phone
Just buy a $5 phone holder to your PS controller, that crap is everywhere.
Project Q sounds like the concept was pitched after reading an inflight magazine
Chiaki is fantastic on the Steam Deck. I’ve played through all of God of War Ragnarok with it
I've been using my deck with Chiaki for streaming and it's been great.
Me too. Pretty fun when the tv is in use.
Same. Idk why he’s talking about running a Java script cuz I’ve never had to do that
@@562.anthony2 yeah really strange for him to say that. Their is just a web page that will show you it.
I was waiting for a decent streaming option before giving up on my PS4 pro + Vita setup but instead project Q got me looking into PC prices! 🤣
Just set up remote play on my steam deck and it’s not hard just 4 copy and paste and it works well. The sound did crackle at times but I was playing Doom Eternal and no issues
I will be buying it. I actually really like it especially having an 8 inch screen
the PSPlay Android app works really well when I use my G Cloud for streaming Playstation games. Works better than the PSRemote app and controls natively work on the device
Steam Deck+Chiaki works perfectly for me. Takes some time to get setup, but its almost flawless for me.
Also you can control with Gyro and use the touchpad too. Super useful.
I feel like the Backbone is perfect if you are very desperate to play a game on the go, but you’re willing to sacrifice having a perfect experience with it
Like, I am probably not going to try and play some high intensity mission in red dead redemption two, but it might be nice to be able to pick up the poker game that I left off
Just try BSP-D3.
Hopwfully that helps but yeaa sorry PS Remote play wasnt working well for you
Same I play games at working using remote play and some joycons 😂
I often use remote play for my PS5 on my PC so I can play over discord and share my game screen, feels great. Only issue ever is that it sometimes freezes for 4 seconds or so every 10 - 20 minutes. I don't know how to stop this issue though
I gotta mention, it’s weird bc I use remote play with backbone but it’s not a PS5 specific one and works out fine
Yay! My 2 favorite things in a UA-camr video. Eating noises and their kids/pets.
I've been using a Razer Kishi v1 I bought used for £35 and Chiaki to fairly okay results.
Honestly I just 3d printed a mount for my phone and dualsense like you did. It's so much better than my steam deck for remote play. If is free it's worth it, but I wouldn't invest real money on P.Q.
I use the Psplay App on Android. Works like a Charm with any Controller but is like 6€.
5:11 Hy-dee-o Kojima...
😂😂😂
is the controller restriction for only certain platforms? I use my Joycons on my iPad with the official PS remote play app. I have not come across being forced to use a PS4 or PS5 controller.
Going on Sony's idea. I totally want something like this for PC gaming BUT it has to have Alt Display Port connecting both the local 7" touch screen and built-in controller over that single Type-C in connection. It's basically a tethered steamdeck without any APU or battery connected directly to your host PC or xbox yada (assuming it has hdmi adapter). The point here is no custom SOC, no streaming nonsense. It would be much cheaper than owning an Ally or steamdeck.
the only time i’ve found remote play actually playable is when i have my computer literally wired to my playstation via an ethernet cable
Im sat in bed with my girlfriend who sleeps early, I wanted to play my ps5 so used remote play on my iPad with my DualSense which was janky. A quick google led me to project Q and I can’t wait. Not every consumer is so into games and tech like you guys.
I’m pretty sure I read some where that the kishi v2 licensed tech from backbone. That’s why it’s so similar.
I don't know if it's an Android thing, but you can use any iOS supported controller with Sony Remote Play, no need for a DualShock 4 or DualSense.
So we need to break a leg to work
Vita's remoteplay compared to the mobile app is the difference between being able to play RDR online from over 100 miles away to having a hard time messing with your settings while starting at your console with both It and the phone on the same 5g connection!
Chiaki on the deck is literally perfect
I hate how most handhelds botch the screen. Imagine how dumbfounding Project Q would have been with an OLED screen, something that all beefy handhelds actually lack.
If steam deck and rog ally put top of the line screens in them, that would drive prices up to the point where most people, would say "yeah. That's cool. But that's way too expensive for a handheld"
They are currently using off the shelf screens, because that is what's most cost effective.
Getting a screen made to your specs can be VERY expensive if we're only talking about a few thousand units. Valve is the one that should have done OLED because they had the volume.
@@leftovernoise from middle+ creative to high-end gaming ranges, most laptops that have miniLED/OLED screens also offer a cheaper IPS screen for the same model. 16:9 OLED/AMOLED screens are not some ancient civilisations knowledge either.
With the money that people would pay for Chinese handhelds before Ally, I sure hope that companies either find the courage to introduce OLED models or invest in R&D for offering different screens on otherwise identical handhelds.
@@bnr32jason They absolutely could have done better. But I'm sure they had a price point the penny pinchers required them to hit. And I'm sure they had reasons for picking the screen they did. It's not really as simple as "just slam a better screen in it" without changing the price point and form factor
i havent done it in a few months so idk if it still works, but on ios i can get an xbox controller working on remote play if i turn it on after im connected to my ps5
I played Coffee Talk exclusively on the Gamepass cloud service. Saves moved from my console to my phone seamlessly and no noticeable lag even though it’s just a visual novel.
This is about how well remote play worked for me on the PSVita while I was directly next to the PS4 lol
Why playstation don't make a console like steam deck and can play ps5 games digital only?
Pretty simple, PS5 sales would tank
I love your optimism for Sony not getting in their own way Bob.
