My school was wilding out with the science classes too. In 3rd grade we dissected frogs, rats. In middle school we open up pigs, dissected cow hearts, eyes, brains.

In my high school we dissected cats. I remember the upper class man doing it but when it got to my year they stopped. I don’t think anyone took any home though. But Bob is older than me so maybe it was that generation.
Yeah in our high school (Canada), people who took biology in the final years had to dissect a whole pig.
I have never heard of having to take anything home/boil anything on their own, but i wouldn’t put it past the North American schooling system lol

Ok so i thought I grew up in the country until Bob talks about how he grew up lmao. Like for reference my friends mom would give us deer jerky for lunch that she made at her house lol. I also grew in GA and we dissected frogs and cats. But nobody asked us to take the dead animal home and BOIL IT 😂. IDK WTF was going down at Morrow HS haha.

The fact that they’re not censoring those girls’ names makes me not wanna believe this story, but I do know that dissection is pretty common in schools. Iirc I’ve had sheep’s kidneys in my 5th grade class, and had to dissect squid in 6th grade science club. Dead cats are a totally believable assignment. :o

My cousin had to dissect a cat in nursing school. In high school we dissected sharks and a frog in biology and in anatomy and physiology, a fetal pig, sheep brain, and sheep eyes.

UPDATE: nevermind..
I live in Missouri and was in high school 2006-2010 and in our biology classes, we dissected frogs first, then fetal pigs (I.e. pretty much fully developed pig fetuses rather than a full grown pig) and then if you went up to AP Biology you dissected cats, but I went Chemistry rather than Biology so I never got to the cat dissection, so while I don’t believe it was happening, I cannot confirm or deny kids taking them home to boil them and remove their skin.
I took anatomy and physiology at Columbus State University in Columbus, GA and CAN CONFIRM that we did in fact dissect cats like Bob said. We did not have to take them home and boil them, but we did a full dissection of these cats.
