You guys are one of my favorite bands ever. Willow is a masterpiece and your music captures the extremely dark, sludgy, chaotic state of mind serious mental health issues represent like severe depression leading to potential suicide, self loathing and hatred, and just the general horrific nature of your own mind working to destroy you. It's why you've always been one of my favorite bands ever to listen to because your music is incredibly cathartic and helps ease those dark feelings. So thank you guys for another masterpiece.
This song is a work of art. It's an engulfing wall of sound that sounds structureless, but every single part is intricate and intentional. Every part of this song invokes a feeling that is entirely unique. Absolutely insane.
Pretty much exactly how I thought you'd go with this one 😂 I like to call this kind of stuff 'insanity-core' because it's just psychotic sounding. A schizophrenic ballad even. I think its time you got around to The Colour Clear. It is the more metalcore stuff and so many people have asked you to suss it now. Maybe someone should album tier it 🤔
Actually it makes a lot of sense when you read the stuff they posted on Instagram: "... One of our most progressive pieces to date, with some of our most meticulous, unorthodox and visceral writing. Currently a standalone, Scapegoat is not a part of any EP or album. It is our first song to share of the sort." I fell in love with Reflections back in the "Color Clear" days, I like the heavier Willow stuff as well though. But for me it's not that "accessible" like The Color Clear. HOWEVER, Scapegoat is so unbelievably heavy that it's for sure a piece of art! It's like a good glass of wine or whisky for me: not for every day but sometimes it's treat 😁
i will admit i'm not a fan of the mix all that much, there is just so much overwhelming low end that it drowns everything else out. But this is with 9 string guitars so it's understandable being a lot harder to produce this
If you want something disgustingly heavy Ion Dissonance just re-released their second (and in my opinion best) album Solace - a stand out tune is She's Strychnine
They are opening for Tool coming up. I dig Elder. Definitely think drew should venture into other genres besides metalcore. Post metal, Doom, Funeral Doom, etc.
Yoooo Drew if you're ever pondering on something to check out, if you haven't already and also fancy a dive back a bit, you should really check out Reflections album The Color Clear from 2015! Far more "metalcore" sounding, could be the middle ground you referenced at the end! I know myself and many others hold The Color Clear very close as a timeless classic. Some songs hit so deep on an emotive level while also having face melting heavy sections. I know Reflections fans will back me up here and like I said, might be a shout if you're ever needing something to check out (again if you haven't already)! Second to that, good video! I agree in a sense it's a bit mental. I did however feel the same way with Willow to begin with after The Color Clear but I eventually warmed up and appreciate it now 😂😂
Dunno why people call it thall, it definetely is more like ridiculously low tuned chaotic mathy deathcore. I wish they would add more groove like in Willow to the future songs
Really think the metalcore thing is closer to what they used to be way back when lol. Definitely makes no sense now but I can agree with your description. Almost so chaotic that it reminds me of old IWABO or even Seeyounexttuesday but with actual structure deep within
Production is Buster/10, but I enjoy new Darko more, this one sounds to random to me, but objectively I give this song 9/10 for production, drum work and those syths.
Buster's mixes usually are crystal clear. This is muddier but not in a bad way I think. Only thing is the vocals could be a tiny bit louder (like 0,2 - 0,4 db louder)
Drew, i still think you should venture into other genres.. Post metal (ISIS, Cult of Luna) Doom (Yob, Windhand) and Funeral Doom (Shape of Despair, The Howling Void, Loss) etc. Metalcore is an amazing genere but don't sleep on the other's.
I appreciate that you at least ATTEMPT to give the viewers some of music video experience. You don't just accept defeat by the whatever dumb shit UA-cam has in place to punish sharing cool content (the purpose of UA-cam, in case anyone forgot/didn't realize/weren't there for those days) and roll over like most other reactors do. Also, "it feels like a mess"... if you're comparing it to the average song. This isn't an average song. I'd compare it to thall or some other whacky genres pushing the envelope more than the others.
I absolutely love their first four albums: The Fantasy Effect, Exi(s)t, The Color Clear, and Willow. Since then they've released the Silhouette EP and this track. TBH after Willow I feel they've gone a bit overboard with trying to push the boundary of their sound to the point that it's too hard to follow or latch on to anything for me. I like what I hear but it's just falling a bit flat compared to everything else they've done because I can't keep up with it. Which is odd because I love old BTBAM, like Colors, etc. where people would probably have the same complaint, but it's a different flavor of that here for me. I'm kinda disappointed but if this trend continues then I probably won't be listening to the rest of what they will release (which I did see a mention of December 20), I'll have to stick to those same 4 albums for the foreseeable future. Also still hoping you'll check out The Color Clear like others mentioned!
Might want to read their description of the song, that was the point. It’s a standalone and experimental. Been a fan since the first album but I definitely do prefer how heavy they got by Willow, it’s all great but we all have different preferences
Super weird that you are a Vildhjarta and HLB fan but this seemed to not resonate with you... I can't imagine not fucking loving everything about this song. Maybe you just need to do some acid
🖤 - thank you so much for checking out the song!!

@@FlynnMcTaggartfr, willow is such a masterpiece, they know how to make intense/heavy sound beautiful
What a beautiful legend you are, reacting to a beautiful masterpiece 🖤🖤🖤🖤 sending you many virtual kisses

you're usage of words here is incredibly on the nose given this bands lyrical content, love this comment so much.
The video is absolutely haunting😂
I don't know why this sounds good to me. It shouldn't make sense but its incredible musicianship to create such chaos but yet it is constructed well
-How many songs do you want in one?
-Yes
This has to be Deathcore soty for me. This is so unique, mindblowing yet sounds so good!
So happy you did this one. I can't stop watching this hellish visualizer.

prog-endcore lmao.
Reflections was my top artist on spotify last year and maybe this year too lol
A spooky ass song for a spooky ass day

I think this is the heaviest song ive ever heard, its absurdly heavy
Good Lord that opening was like 1,000 cinderblocks falling on my forehead
THIS is the 9 string reflections content we've been waiting for
dude reflections and darko us have released nothing but amazingness for a while now
This fkn rules. Top tier random brutality
Reflections is my Halloween celebration
Yea this song was crazy heavy drums are insane as well.
REFLECTIONS IS RFLXNS!!!! Jake is the GOAT! I love this song so much.
Watching this after coming home from a Halloween party drunk as fuck is surely a vibe
absolute insanity. it’s Help’s brother.
If you want something disgustingly heavy Ion Dissonance just re-released their second (and in my opinion best) album Solace - a stand out tune is She's Strychnine
Now you should do the album "Reflections of a Floating World" by Elder lol
They are opening for Tool coming up. I dig Elder. Definitely think drew should venture into other genres besides metalcore.
Post metal, Doom, Funeral Doom, etc.
Mental artillery assault is a great way to put it.
HELL YEAH

correct me if i am wrong, but isnt the vocalist the drummer too?
jake has/had been posting drummer vids. description in original video doesnt say any other names besides Jake and Patrick, besides the producer
Yep pretty dang sure Jake does both at this point
@@Weather_Nerd I'm pretty sure too. He is killing it on both
Drew, hello from Russia. Check that band: Solid Clock, track: Paimon. They are from Portugal or Brazil... I think this style like a: melodic thall???!
Better than the new darko tbh🤘🏻
Why does this remind me of Dead Vectors?
Production is Buster/10, but I enjoy new Darko more, this one sounds to random to me, but objectively I give this song 9/10 for production, drum work and those syths.
well, its not mixed and produced by Buster btw, its Simone Pietroforte (huge in the deathcore scene)
Nope, this was mixed by Simone Pietroforte, it's written in the description of their video
My point was mixing is 10/10. Buster is God talking about music mixing, and I know it was not him. I just rated it "Buster out of 10"
@@Gomcio ah okay lol no problem, yeah Buster is god tier
Buster's mixes usually are crystal clear. This is muddier but not in a bad way I think. Only thing is the vocals could be a tiny bit louder (like 0,2 - 0,4 db louder)
not for enjoy headbang 🤣
I enjoyed a good headbang lol
The guitars are tuned so low it’s like you can barely hear them
Drew, i still think you should venture into other genres.. Post metal (ISIS, Cult of Luna) Doom (Yob, Windhand) and Funeral Doom (Shape of Despair, The Howling Void, Loss) etc.
Metalcore is an amazing genere but don't sleep on the other's.
I love crazy music but some bands push it too far. You can’t even groove to this

This seems like a horrible song to listen to on acid. Especially with that video lol
