    I've put my Savage 10T into the LSS XL Gen 2 chassis along with their rifle stock & a Timney trigger. Love these guys gear.

    The Olive Drab option is only by special order and adds an extra $20 and 2 weeks to the cost. I was qouted 4 weeks but it arrived in 2. It is beautiful and very functional. I also bought the long top rail. Now I am going through some things trying to find the right height Vortex scope rings. Why Vortex? That's because you must coordinate (my riflescope is a Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP).

    I just got the LSS chassis for a Savage Axis .308 Winchester/ 7.62x51 NATO, with a Fab Defence shock absorbing adjustable but stock and the Magpul MOE + grip and a Harris bipod. Topped with a ffp 4-16x50

    Great video! I found that the Accurate AICS compatible mags were a good cost effective option. I believe I got my 10 round .308 for around $70

      flyinb45 Magpul is releasing 5rd Polymer PMAGS for like 30 bucks soon. Much better as you don't really need 10rd Mags for a rifle of this means. Unless you're killing a lot of people at once ;)

    I have the LSS on my Savage 10 FCP. Easy drop in, very please. After having the Magpul stock, I chose the MDT stock because it's more of a sturdy stock.

    Super review. It would have nice to have had a weight for that system there just as an example. It gives us an option here in the UK if you don't want a straight pull AR.

    Another option on that pistol drip issue is cutting off the dovetail. I wanted to use my Mako AGR-43, so I cut it off - straight across to remove the dovetail with a dremel, unless you have a band saw. But it works and looks great. No problem.

    Thanks for this review. I think this chassis might be a good option for me since my wife wants to shoot with me and we have over 1 ft difference in height between us. Chassis that support as much change to length of pull as this one are not so common.

    Good review. I have been waiting for it, and hating it at the same time. Been thinking of buying this chassis for my rem 700 varmint and now this makes me want it even more, just to get rid of the cheap stock which throws my shots around with the bipod attached. Curse you.

  • @edwardwells5864
    @edwardwells5864 5 років тому

    Good review! But you know what I would really like to see that I rarely see on the net? Do a vid where you start with a off the shelf gun such as a Savage 10 FP in 308 and what it does at the range group wise. Then drop it in a chassis that you review and show the improvement in consistency that you achieved down range with the groups. That would make for a much more impressive and informative video in my humble opinion. As a shooter....I wanna see what I am getting for my efforts and if its really worth the bang for the buck. Surely in your collection you have a rifle you started bone stock with, then added a trigger, then added a stock or chassis, then added a barrel to, that you documented the build over time, and then show the results each step in the build improved the rifles capability. Just a suggestion...

    John,
    I wonder if some grip tape in that area in front of the mag well would help it "grip" on a slick barricade? Might want to try that and see how it works. Thanks for the great reviews!!

    At the 2:25 mark of the video. You have a picatinny rail mounted to side of the LSS chassis. How did you mount that rail?

  • @MOAONAABE
    @MOAONAABE 8 років тому

    mossberg has the MVP LC in 7.62 uses FAL, Pmag, AR_10 and mossberg mags at a fraction of the price. the Pmags are the dealbreaker when your using a LR308 and the mags are the same. MVP varment, predator. their flex MVP uses a stock system copmpatable with all their flex shotguns. quick changes, and you an use a shotgun stock for range shooting with a recoil pad. I have the M4 collapsable stock on my MVP flex 7.62, and the stocks are about 50 on ebay.

  • @dghboy315
    @dghboy315 10 років тому +2

    I noticed that the stock mounts farther behind the pistol grip than some other chassis systems. Would you anticipate any problems for smaller stature shooters (women) who need shorter lengths of pull? I was concerned that if a folding stock adapter was added a 5'2" shooter (my wife) would not be able to collapse the butt stock enough for their short LOP. Could you publish LOP data?

    • @8541tactical
      @8541tactical  10 років тому

      I would not run a folding adapter if I was putting a small shooter on it.

    For the MDT do they make a hand rail assembly that fits this system??? In one of the trailers you have it looks like there is one that comes with it. Which is that? Be awesome to hear back from you. Your very knowledgable and thanks for all the helpful information. Thanks

    How does the trigger reach on this chassis compare with other ones you have used? I am using the Bell and Carlson M40 style stock you featured on your "Budget Precision" build, and while the LOP is fine, the reach to the trigger from the pistol grip is further than I find comfortable. Can you recommend any other stock/chassis system with a shorter reach to the trigger?

    Sorry if I missed it, but what is the weight penalty over a Hogue over moulded?

    • @imbored742
      @imbored742 9 років тому

      That's dependent on the particular stock and grip you choose. As stated in the video the base unit weighs in at 1.6lbs. Adding in the stock and pistol grip as configured in the review adds about 1lb, pushing the total chassis weight to ~2.6lbs, roughly the same as if not lighter than a Hogue overmold stock.

      I believe it will, but I would suggest contacting MDT directly to confirm.

    How much did it cost you to build that hole system together??

    • @usamachinist
      @usamachinist 9 років тому

      Aaron Ritchey You're looking at around 1200. dollars minimum! I think you can pickup a Remington 700 or Savage rifle for 600. dollars, might be a bit more for the rifle. He mentioned $570. for everything but the rifled action!

      Straight out A2 M16/AR15 stock. I only added a Fulton Arms adjustable butt plate. No cheek riser.

    So you don't really keep buying a new Atlas every time you build one of these chassis' do you? You're not buying a whole new 700 every time.

      No. The big advantage of a QD bipod is that I can throw it on whatever I pull out of the safe. In fact I am about to screw some Magpul rails to the inside of the safe door so I can clip the bipods in when not in use.
