    like this follow up of this rifle. Building a Tika, Bergara, and a Savage 110 now. All different calibers.

    I built this same set up in 270 for my wife, she was having trouble getting a stock that fit her really well, this chassis is the way to go. Light weight and completely modifiable. The folding hinge in the butt stock is rad too, makes it easy for packing.

      Thanks. Should be a good shooter. I'm hoping I don't have to handload to get the accuracy I want. I already bought all the factory ammo, so that would be annoying.

    Nice build. You can adjust Tikka trigger less than one pound, just shave attachment bolt to allow adjusting screw get out little bit more and secure it. I'm running my at 11...12 ounces for year now, no issue so far.

    Been considering the hnt26 but this is looking like a good cheaper option.

      yeah it's a valid choice. You might also check out Ultradyne Chassis. Not certain if they make a tikka option yet, but it's worth looking into.

    The MDT LSS is such a nice chassis, I built one with Tikka T3x action and the skeleton MDT stock with adjustable cheek and pull in Win Mag 300. I used a Proof Carbon 24 inch barrel and a Fat Bastard brake. I put an Arken ARES ETR 4.5x30x50 (poor man's scope, I could not afford the Night Force), Atlas bipod. It weighs half of the Tikka T3x Lite barrel that came with it. I prefer the 5 round detachable box magazine from MDT from the original 3 round box. I feel more recoil than with the heavier barrel using the same brake.

      The Tikka factory trigger breaks so sharp at 2.5 pounds, I added a M*arbo spring now breaks at 1.5 pound, incredibly sharp and light. It surprises me everytime.

    Tikka’s usually like to be torqued to 45 in/lbs. if it doesn’t shoot great try the lower setting.

    Nice looking rifle think I'd go with 6.5 PRC. or 7-08. Not sure who makes brownells scopes or much about them honestly. Was a Nikon user till they stopped making scopes. Vortex is now the scope I use. Can't wait till you take this to the range want to see accuracy for this set up.

    When we talk about weight I kinda giggle a bit because 11-13 pounds is right around where powerful double rifles used to take dangerous game are at. That setup looks nice.

    What’s your barrel length? I’m looking at this chassis or the LSS XL for a 6.5 creedmoor with 18” barrel. I think the standard LSS should work fine for mine. What do you think?

    • @PrecisionRifleNetwork
      @PrecisionRifleNetwork  9 місяців тому

      Yes standard works well with shorter barrels. Mine was 24-26”. I can’t remember off the top of my head.

    So where is the "ultralight rifle" at? 10+ lbs is nearly double what an ultralight rifle actually is.

    • @PrecisionRifleNetwork
      @PrecisionRifleNetwork  6 місяців тому

      Each to their own. Definitions vary. I think most would agree that a sub-10lb rifle is pretty lightweight.

      @@PrecisionRifleNetwork thanks. You mentioned earlier in the video that the chassis/butstock/grip weighed 2.8 pounds and with the rifle all put together weighed over 10. Just wondering what added so much weight? I’m considering changing my current oryx chassis to a lighter one but not the mdt hnt. Thanks

    • @jacobharris1185
      @jacobharris1185 Рік тому +1

      @rpk5250 I've been looking a lot at similar pieces to do a build. It just adds up quick. 2.8 pounds then a barreled action can easily be 5 pounds depending on the components. Not sure with this carbon fiber barrel, still maybe close to that. So you're getting close to 8 pounds already. Forget the scope power/ size he said but it is probably over 20oz + mount. He said the bipod and arca added 1 pound also.

      Thanks for the good scope option for my build since they’re VERY similar...I just got the exact same LSS chassis and stock as your build but I’m going with ARC Nucleus action, ARC rings and bought the trigger from them too...it’s my first DIY build and I thank you for the heads up on the scope rings 👍🏻
