I have been using nutrogena once a week...And skin still gets red and itchy..so I have started buffering it...I do find some improvements...so it works.. I am 50...thanks for recommending..

Have a question- I'm searching out for a skin care routine for my mother (50+), she has normal skin, little wrinkles, black spots on the face (damaged skin). Which retinol serum is good for her? Also, she will be starting to use Recast VitC serum. Would retinol in eve & VitC at day, a good combination?

Is introducing Retinol to my skin a good option? If yes, then which one and also can it combined with VitC in day & Retinol at night?
1- she should consider using the retin a 0.25% and consult a dermatologist.
2- You could start with the retinol from minimalist at 3%. I am not a big fan of their vitc. I prefer Detoxie airless pumpless bottle. Retinol and vitc should be split.

For the last year, I had consistently used the St Botanica hyaluronic acid serum. About a week ago, I switched it to the retinol of the same brand, simply because I couldn't think of another. No major skin concerns, just want to know whether it's ok to continue, or look whether to look for an alternative brand/higher level of retinoids.

But I don't have to worry about photo damage or vitamin A is the only solution. Also I was slightly confused about AM vitamin C. Did you mean we apply Vitamin C in Am and these products in PM.? Which Vitamin C serum is good for AM and which sunscreen would you recommend?
Sure, apart from Vita you can use vitc or EGFs or ceramides.
Its best to split vitc and retinols in separate routines. since retinols are best in the evening move vitc to Am.

With VitC the retinol is for barrier strengthening and plays second to Vitc. The vit C they take direct 0.2% SAP which has a 45% Vitamin C content. So retinol would be well under that. retniol and vitc is a perfect pair as Vitamin C is known to stabilize retinol, increasing its effectiveness. together they create a barrier that protects the skin from skin damage and rapid aging...

@@sreyasaha5127 oh you absolutely can! and 40 is a good time to get started seriously on retinoids. Cost comparitive I would think Minimalist is great. If the retinol is within the first few ingredients in the Avene product then its worth a try. Retinaldehyde has more proven track record than HPR or granactive has.

As long as you are careful NOT to get it into your eyes! i use it pretty clos to you my eye area.
Hi Rubina..the vedio is very informative. I have just started using retinol serum (pixi), vitamon c serum (pilgrim)..alternate days for pigmentation and brightness. Its just been 2 weeks, and I have started having breakouts..I never had pimples and I have very dry skin. I dont think my skin is sensitive. Can you please suggest some remedy or is it okay to have minor breakouts in the beginning. Please guide.
Hi Shalu, if you have never had pimples then you should not have them because of the products. All these products can sometimes cause purging though.
Its best to stop and re introduce one by one. give 3 weeks between each product.
If you just starting retinol serum start slow- once a week for few weeks then move to twice...stay there and then more frequent. it would take about 2 to 3 months to start using alternate day.
Keep in mind both vitc and retinol also exfoliate. so if the skin feels there is too much exfoliation suddenly it can start producing more sebum...so you have to ease your skin into it.
