Yu-Peng Chen has produced so many beautiful and incredible pieces, but I honestly think this is his greatest work so far. It's not the first time he's mixed traditional instruments with techno/rock elements; like Azhdaha's theme, another amazing piece from him. But I think what sets Polumnia Omnia apart is how much more weight it holds. How he uses multiple styles of music, all of which symbolises Scaramouche's story. How the leitmotifs of his background are played throughout, and of course, the lyrics of the choir and the singing. Switching between Latin when singing about his new godly form, but Japanese when singing about his past. Yu-Peng Chen is no doubt a brilliant composer, for being able to fully empathise and ground himself in the setting, background, environment, atmosphere he's writing for, and convey all these wordless feelings through music.
In my opinion, Scaramouche boss theme music is so far the best BGM ever created for Genshin. Especially when seemingly very different genres of music could somehow be combined, and achieve an epic result.
My favorite is Azhdaha's theme but I must admit that I impressed how hoyo-mix merged like four different genres (three classics, one modern) into one great song.
This version is fire!!! I love both versions. The one where Yu-Peng Chen sings sounds to me like a lonely man with towering ambitions, a smaller entity wrapped in an enormous energy, hands reaching up to heavens in both defiance and longing. Almost like a child, lost, wanting desperately to belong somewhere and he'll conquer and crush anything to achieve it. This version with this amazing Italian opera singer gives me the feeling of loud proclamation and formidable danger. It's more... mature. Scaramouche becoming more than what he was yet his core being still shines through in brief yet unmistakable moments of anguish and abandonment. Both are valid, both are cannon. I love both!!! And I think the version in game is perfect as is and this version for the music album is perfect as well!!
Tried my hand at a translation, 5 years of Latin don't fail me Polumnia Omnia - The hymn of everything You oppose the heavenly things At last it pushes death on your land Alas! They are knowing of what is in their very eyes [JPN: “Why did you throw me away on the 5th night?”] The wise and courageous (men) run through things that are forbidden by heavenly law (the wise men are allured by the wickedness) Of slow death and distant, the inevitable(fate) takes a step (the slow death of the inevitable takes a step) The everlasting land itself owes nothing Believe in nothing that is meaningless edicts (Beware! notice! these meaningless edicts) Tyranny Tyranny Tyranny [JPN: “Why did you throw me away on the 5th night?”] Alas! The wise men have fastened that worthless image to a throne (Alas! Let them praise, admire, exalt those images) The distant inevitable takes a step (and the invevitable takes a step) I wish I’d never been born
I found this at other comment. I want to add that japanese have tradition to name their child after 7th night, so scaramouche is basically saying "why did you throw me away before you even give me a name"
@@racool911 I feel like the Beelzebub part is taking things a bit too far, and is more likely just a coincidence, considering 1. Beelzebub is one of the most well known demons from the Ars Goethia or that Beelzebub is literally mentioned in the bible 2.The Raiden Shogun, is also named Baal, which is the shortening of Baalzebub, and as you can guess, that's another name for Beelzebub
@@SchwarzieKun Beelzebub is Ei’s “god” name and Baal is Makoto’s. So a lot of Ei and Scaramouche is referenced from Bohemian Rhapsody. Baal was just the assumed and more common name shared among the two twin gods since Makoto was the actual archon and therefore, more fitting to go with her name and not many Inazumans knew about the two different gods, assuming that only one was ruling Inazuma, so they didn’t notice the shift in gods. Therefore, Ei inherited the name Baal (kind of) from her sister since no one knew about Makoto’s death (one god ruling Inazuma assumption). The Raiden Shogun (puppet) also inherited the name since Ei built a puppet to rule for her and therefore, another switch is rulers occurred. So really, all three beings are named “Baal” in the sense of whoever is the person seen by the people of Inazuma, although they do have their own respective names.
It's unbelievable. How much effort and soul Yu-Peng Chen put into this masterpiece, composing it and even giving it his voice in the game himself. How much emotion and meaning Hsiang Liu, the lyricist of this song, put into their work, giving us the opportunity to experience feelings and thoughts of our favorite character. How many talented people from different cultures and musical directions came together to perform it. How many fans united their love for the character and knowledge to translate the lyrics, to find and parse every detail and reference that was so lovingly invested in this composition as well as in the whole character of Scaramouche. And how much support the fans gave to HoYoverse, without which we could not have enjoyed it. Thank you all so much ♡
The blend of Inazuman/Japanese, electro, opera, and orchestra already make this an incredible piece in-game, but the live vocals and special effects really bring this piece to a whole other level! Amazing work by everyone involved!
To me, its like a mix of inazuma and shez-(cryo region). Both childe's and signora's theme was very shez-(cryo region)-ian. While scaramouche, a puppet from inuzuma, will always be part of inuzuma. Even when he became a fatui, then a citizen of sumeru, his origins will always follow him, no matter where he goes.

I feel _inutile_ might be "useless" and not "uselessly" here? Then the line could kind of refer to Ei finding Scaramouche "useless". But I don't really have a Latin background 😅

Ok I need to mention this. When I looked at the lyrics and saw Japanese, I noticed this and needed to point it out. In Japanese, there are three types of letters we use. This is hiragana, katakana and kanji. There are two hiragana that we don't use anymore, which are ゐ and ゑ. I can't believe that genshin actually included ゑin the lyrics, as this hiragana is from thousands of years ago. Really smart considering scaramouche is also several hundred years old.

The japanese is ごやのすゑなぞながされ "Goyanosuwe nazonagasare" ゑ is archaic Japanese kana My best guess is that it's 「 五夜のすゑ、謎流されて」 "When the night's darkest hour passes, all mysteries go with it." or something like that. Feel free to correct me hahaha
I really love both the original soundtrack version sung by Yu-Peng Chen and this version sung by Paolo Andrea Di Pietro. They have very different voices, but both really beautiful.
♫♪ *Real talk:* the transition from Japanese instrumentals+vocals to Latin (around 1:07~1:22 and 2:34~2:49) is absolutely phenomenal. Two styles and motifs which theoretically might not have worked together works so unbelievably well here. My favourite battle theme for sure next to La Signora's 🔥
My interpretation of the Japanese verse “ごやのすゑなぞながされ” is “後夜の末、何ぞ流され.” Goya no sue = at the end of the night, just before the dawn Nazo = why Nagasare = being exiled If “goya no sue” symbolizes the hope (dawn) after despair (long night), this verse could mean “why am I exiled/thrown away when I thought I finally found a hope after all the despair?” which also kinda fits Scara’s lore.
"ごやのすゑなぞながされ" is "五夜の末、何ぞ流され" 五夜= Children's 5th day celebration In ancient Japan, the birth of a child was celebrated on odd-numbered days until the ninth day from the birthday. And on the 7th day, the child was named. It can be interpreted that the Scaramash that was swept away (thrown away) on the 5th day, which is just before the 7th day, was ``not given a name''. So this sentence becomes "Why did you throw it away without giving it a name?"
He sings why he was exiled on fifth night. This is because in Japan there was tradition of naming your children at 7th night after birth, and Scara is basically asking his mother why she had left him before she could even name him? This is such an amazing line that fits scaramouche sooo well. Buts its so sad 😭
The Bohemian Rhapsody reference, the Latin and Japanese lyrics, the music itself, the incredible voice of the singer, and the whole choir coming together... this video is a masterpiece, and this is probably the best music ever created for Genshin Impact.

The music in the game plays a very important role in the boss battles in the game as it can make the player feel explosive in each battle, genshin did a great job in this.
what i noticed is that in the official theme song you hear in the fight, when he’s singing the japanese part you can very clearly hear him say 「たつ」rather than 「のす」 because the sharpness of た stands out. so in the official song used in the boss fight he says something like 「荒野、立つうれなぞ流され」 or 「荒野、立つなれなぞ流され」 both which roughly translate to “in the wilderness, those standing will be washed away”. but in this video the singer says 「ごやのすゑなぞながられ」 which many people have said could roughly mean “why did you throw me away on the 5th night?” referencing how Scara was thrown away before he was named. i find it interesting that they changed the たつ to のす for this song, subsequently slightly changing the meaning. it’s like the song used in the boss fight is really meant for a boss fight because he’s telling us that if we’re standing he’ll wash us away, and the song here in the orchestra performance is more of a sad tale of his life where he’s narrating his sorrows god i love his character so much
It's incredible how Genshin contains a huge layer of all culture in the world from classic to modern. And allows each player to fall in love with different cultures carefully, connecting with pleasant memories of the game, and not about the school where they are forced to teach. And here, in the game, you yourself, thanks to your desire, absorb knowledge that is presented incredibly beautifully, like this soundtrack, for example. Thanks to all the employees of Hoyoverse for working together on such a wonderful project, attracting more and more wonderful people for cooperation, artists, singers, voice actors. @@JustSomeOtaku the orchestra is the Tokyo Philharmonic(see descriptions in this video) so yeah they are basically the Japanese folks 🤣 and I believe they also took the recording in Japan. The casts on this production are truly amazing. They collaborated well despite different nationalities and languages they know.

FOR REAL
Bro made my bones rattle
The freakin japanese flute indeed
in addition, the way that the flute part is a liiittle bit sub-par from the "battle in the mist" (just my personal taste, maybe also because it's had more supporting instrument and build-up) says quite a lot about him being replaced by/dumped for Raiden Shogun by Ei..

Also, the polumnia omnia in the game is sung by Yu-Peng Chen himself.
This summarised everything! This music is unforgettable and he's doing a great job ♥️
@@vi7276 YES when I found out I was over the moon 😭 this man is seriously unstoppable
Sadly i wish genshin has more if u listen to honkai music they've lot of amazing songs not just musical

In my opinion, Scaramouche boss theme music is so far the best BGM ever created for Genshin. Especially when seemingly very different genres of music could somehow be combined, and achieve an epic result.
if they ever manage to top this then i am more than fully convinced that yu-peng chen is a genius
@@koothic_jsignoras ost is better than scaras
Azdaha and apep
Signora raiden better
This is just so cool !
Curious fact
The version in game and in the Hoyo-mix sand dunes album are different versions
Tried my hand at a translation, 5 years of Latin don't fail me
Polumnia Omnia - The hymn of everything
You oppose the heavenly things
At last it pushes death on your land
Alas! They are knowing of what is in their very eyes
[JPN: “Why did you throw me away on the 5th night?”]
The wise and courageous (men) run through things that are forbidden by heavenly law (the wise men are allured by the wickedness)
Of slow death and distant, the inevitable(fate) takes a step
(the slow death of the inevitable takes a step)
The everlasting land itself owes nothing
Believe in nothing that is meaningless edicts
(Beware! notice! these meaningless edicts)
Tyranny
Tyranny
Tyranny
[JPN: “Why did you throw me away on the 5th night?”]
Alas! The wise men have fastened that worthless image to a throne
(Alas! Let them praise, admire, exalt those images)
The distant inevitable takes a step
(and the invevitable takes a step)
I wish I’d never been born
damn those lyrics actually make a lot of sense now
I found this at other comment.
I want to add that japanese have tradition to name their child after 7th night, so scaramouche is basically saying "why did you throw me away before you even give me a name"

The Queen reference at 3:06 is so on point with the Bohemian Rhapsody mv and the lyrics (numquam genitus desiderem, I wish I was never born) oh my-
There is a word “Scaramouch” in the Bohemian Rhapsody as well. Definitely, a reference.
@@sleepygummy7816 And "Beelzebub" too There are far more references than just that lmao. His character reveal was literally on the song's birthday
@@racool911 I feel like the Beelzebub part is taking things a bit too far, and is more likely just a coincidence, considering
1. Beelzebub is one of the most well known demons from the Ars Goethia or that Beelzebub is literally mentioned in the bible
2.The Raiden Shogun, is also named Baal, which is the shortening of Baalzebub, and as you can guess, that's another name for Beelzebub
@@lingshui_aiiyako I think Ei being named that is more likely a reference to the demon stuff rather than Bohemian Rhapsody tho

Inazuman opera right here
To me, its like a mix of inazuma and shez-(cryo region). Both childe's and signora's theme was very shez-(cryo region)-ian. While scaramouche, a puppet from inuzuma, will always be part of inuzuma. My interpretation of the Japanese verse “ごやのすゑなぞながされ” is “後夜の末、何ぞ流され.”
Goya no sue = at the end of the night, just before the dawn
Nazo = why
Nagasare = being exiled
If “goya no sue” symbolizes the hope (dawn) after despair (long night), this verse could mean “why am I exiled/thrown away when I thought I finally found a hope after all the despair?”
which also kinda fits Scara’s lore.
"ごやのすゑなぞながされ" is "五夜の末、何ぞ流され"
五夜= Children's 5th day celebration
In ancient Japan, the birth of a child was celebrated on odd-numbered days until the ninth day from the birthday. And on the 7th day, the child was named. It can be interpreted that the Scaramash that was swept away (thrown away) on the 5th day, which is just before the 7th day, was ``not given a name''. So this sentence becomes "Why did you throw it away without giving it a name?"
@@ばってん-e4y those little references and allusions do so much, thats an insane detail
He sings why he was exiled on fifth night.
This is because in Japan there was tradition of naming your children at 7th night after birth, and Scara is basically asking his mother why she had left him before she could even name him?
This is such an amazing line that fits scaramouche sooo well. Buts its so sad 😭
Thanks
The Bohemian Rhapsody reference, the Latin and Japanese lyrics, the music itself, the incredible voice of the singer, and the whole choir coming together... this video is a masterpiece, and this is probably the best music ever created for Genshin Impact.
Now this is a really great music to enjoy when fighting Scaramouche!

@@averagegenshinplayer1188 bro looks like a triple size burger
Yes. Since we don't need to do anything but evade until his barrier collapses, i can enjoy the music lol.
We saw this singer perform this track at the genshin concert in seoul, Korea. It was absolutely incredible and a moment I will never ever forget. His live voice really shook me and my friend, such a beautiful interpretation of the song 💕
🙏 thank you so much for coming to the concert and for your kind words, it really means a lot to me 😊
You have no idea how jealous I am! I'd pay double the ticket price to see him perform in the Düsseldorf concert 😔
@silis_pap8473 I went to the Düsseldorf one as well and trust me when I say there were many moments that I enjoyed even more than the concert in Korea!! But yes the scara bit with paolo definetly has a special place in my heart
@@crimsonrainsoughtflower2593 Yeah the Düsseldorf concert was actually amazing, even better than I anticipated!
@silis_pap8473 same !! Ngl i had lower expectations cause I was like ofc the Korea one will be better simply cause they're so experienced with traditional east Asian instruments and stuff BUT HONESTLY? Germany slayed the liyue part of the concert! It was so good I was so so so positively suprised and loved it a lot !! Korea had A LOT more sumeru tracks tho which I enjoyed a bit more because I personally like sumeru the most but all in all props to the German orchestra. And props to the fans cause the crowd was incredibly well behaved yet not afraid to show their excitement
I really hope hoyomix is nominated for the music award in the game awards.
I hear genshin cant nominated cuz still on going game. I dunno. I hope genshin can be nominated for the music
If i recall genshin will only be able to be nominated when its finished
Actually it was nominated in 2020.
@@easycloudld6873 nominated for best mobile game 2020. And best partner PS. And then best on going game on 2021, and then won the voice player 2022. Never nominated for the music or won best music or something.
@@gladiusbladeofthenorth9939 well we gotta wait 5 years then
The fact that in the end of the boss battle music, they putted in queen reference like bohemian Rhapsody, I like how the song bohemian Rhapsody is Related to scaramouche and now they're doing this reference which is actually making all the genshin fandomes saying "CANON! " good job hoyo❤
Scaramouche got his own live concerto. I hope Signora will get her next
Or Dottore
this is absolutely amzing your voice and everyone?!?! OMG this is delightful to hear i love this so much
You weren't slick with the Bohemian Rhapsody reference there at the end, and I absolutely love it 😂
(edit: forgot to say reference)
wait youre right, i just realize it after seeing your comment haha thats why i thought it seems familiar... i forgot that this is scaramouche's song XD
wait when?

the shakuhachi part always gets me fired up. the subtle homage to Queen is amazingly well-done, perfect transitional visuals
Actually the voice in the original song was from YU PENG CHEN himself…. We had some doubt about this and it is confirmed now in the cast of song… Just when you think this man cannot be better..
Saw him perform this live at the Yokohama concert on 11/25, his voice was so powerful and I was absolutely blown away 😭 Had goosebumps the entire time, loved it 💕
Thank you very much for coming! I loved so much singing in those concerts and the arrangements were so good! The added rock elements and Japanese instruments 🤩 In particular in the second chorus of Polumnia Omnia all soloist and whole orchestra were playing together and it had SO much energy😊
The music in the game plays a very important role in the boss battles in the game as it can make the player feel explosive in each battle, genshin did a great job in this.

Oh wow hey there! Can't believe you responded! Awesome Job on the Performance!!

what i noticed is that in the official theme song you hear in the fight, when he’s singing the japanese part you can very clearly hear him say 「たつ」rather than 「のす」 because the sharpness of た stands out. so in the official song used in the boss fight he says something like 「荒野、立つうれなぞ流され」 or 「荒野、立つなれなぞ流され」 both which roughly translate to “in the wilderness, those standing will be washed away”. but in this video the singer says 「ごやのすゑなぞながられ」 which many people have said could roughly mean “why did you throw me away on the 5th night?” referencing how Scara was thrown away before he was named. i find it interesting that they changed the たつ to のす for this song, subsequently slightly changing the meaning. it’s like the song used in the boss fight is really meant for a boss fight because he’s telling us that if we’re standing he’ll wash us away, and the song here in the orchestra performance is more of a sad tale of his life where he’s narrating his sorrows
god i love his character so much
It's incredible how Genshin contains a huge layer of all culture in the world from classic to modern. This is one of the best projects of the decade for sure.❤
I intentionally prolong my fight with this boss weekly just to vibe to this ost
GENSHIN NEVER FAILS TO DISAPPOINT THE GAMING COMMUNITY WITH HOW GARBAGE IT IS
I can just imagine the tension and adrenaline the musicians felt when they have to play their instruments under such terrible lighting. I can also imagine the focus of the flutist from Japan when his part came in. GOOSEPBUMPS
this is MV, often but not always they just lip synced to the official recording.
Another example would be during their 2nd anniv concert, some of their MV were recorded separately between the music and the video part and then edited later.
Again, this is not ALWAYS the case, but this MV seems to be one of those case.
