***Please Note** this seems to be an audio issue with my camera. Many others are having great audio. I will get a new G5 pro and do a follow up video ( maybe compare it to the G5 bullet) **
Having installed the regular G5 Bullet camera on my current house, I was confident I was doing the same to my next house next year. That is...until I saw this video lol. That enhancer is a beast! The quality of the G5 Pro is way better than I expected and the quality with the 3x zoom that the G5 Bullet lacks is superb. Great video!
Thanks for this video. I have two Unifi cameras, a G4 Doorbell pro and a G5 Bullet i got while that product was still in EA. Both camera are in the front of my house, although they server different purposes. The G5 Bullet is mounted on the 2nd floor eve near the security light and not only covers my front yard but also the entire cul-de-sac street so i have footage of anyone approaching the house. The Bullet works well but the resolution could be better, especially at distance and the night resolution I would just describe as OK. So I'm thinking about the new G5 Pro + Enchancer to replace the Bullet (which I would repurpose to the side of my house). One product I wish Unifi would make would be a version of the Ring Floodlight Cam. For most home users, this is a direct replacement for the floodlight over many of our garages. This is such a successful product for Ring that there are five different versions of this product.
Already bought $14,400 worth of G5 Pros with vision enhancers for my big client after massive success on a 21 cam system for a school district where 12 were G4 Pros... glad you sign off on them!
There's a lot I like about the G5 Pro, but the audio quality is pretty disappointing for me. Thanks for the video. If nothing else, I had not realized that the optical zoom has four specific settings (0%, 33%, 66% and 100%). My imagination was that it was a continuous range of zoom levels, even though I have not read anything which implied that it was. However I understand that providing a continuous range of zoom levels is probably much more expensive to manufacture.
Glad it wasn't just me - how anyone could watch the side-by-side comparison and say the G5 is better when it's blurring all over the place. G4 looks far better.
Seems like putting the IR close to the camera is the WORST thing you can do, that’s what attracts spiders and other bugs, I use separate IR floodlights, that way the spiders and bugs mess around in front of it, so way less false motion notifications coming through. Not having it on all the time has to help a lot too though.
Great video Cody . I think the G5 pro may have a little more dynamic range than the G4 pro . Anyways , I have a G4 pro on the back of my garage , and when the led motion lights mounted on the garage come on and my camera switches back to daytime mode , I have to say the colour night vision is vastly improved over using the IR . I am going to add a motion light at the front of my house also , as my only concern is if the light is actually produced by the camera , it will draw attention to itself . Probably not a big deal in most cases . I’m wondering how much draw the G5 pro with the enhancer is Poe draw wise also? As for audio I turned all mine off ,so that wouldn’t be an issue for me if I started changing my cameras out . I’m not sure what the laws are in BC,but I can live without audio . But for now, I’m just adding more motion lights to my house
do i need an additional video recording device. how and where camera recod video. I don't see the SD Card support camera. also do i need a specific router or device that supports POE. i need only cat5 or 6 cable and normal ruoter?
I've had the G5 Pro for a few weeks now, with the enhancer. The enhancer makes this camera a beast at night. Well worth the extra cash. The audio, in my opinion, in your video has a problem. I don't have a G4 to compare but the audio is MUCH better on my unit than the example on this video. Could the mic be covered? Sensitivity not up max? Or the unit faulty? Enjoying the videos.
2nd G5 Pro with enhancer just arrived for the back garden. That makes 2x G5 Pros, 2x G5 Bullets, 1x G5 Dome for the shed so the wife can shout at me to come in and mind the kids 😀 and G5 Pro Doorbell. Apart from all the cost with NVR, now broke! But the tech is great, 3 days in and nabbed my first criminal, seriously 😀
Wow! another great video! This really helped me decide on where I will use G4 pro and where I will use G5 pro. The main question left is, what is the depth of AI detection for G4 and G5? any difference in what they detect and how?
I have a question. What are the main differences between the G4 Pro / G5 Pro and the AI Pro? IS the AI Pro worth the extra cost in a domestic situation or even small business?
Thanks Cody! I am not considering the G5 Pro with Vision Enhancer instead of the Google Cam with Floodlight that I was originally considering. Do you think the light the vision enhancer emits is a suitable replacement for a floodlight on a driveway? Thanks so much!
My issue with the vision extender is that by the time you add the cost of that onto the G5 Pro I may as well just buy an AI Pro which costs about the same and has the same quoted IR range.
Even with the enhancer, the PQ is pretty noisy, especially for a camera that costs $478 w/ the enhancer. I wonder if things have improved at all recently via firmware updates?
I thought that the audio issue was mine unit also unit I sent it back for RMA. The replacement was the same. Also, the AI Pro has the same issue. Any updates from your side?
Looks awesome but the price is ridiculous. The G5 Pro should already come with vision enhancer features at its base price. Unifi Protect software is great but hardware really needs to catch up to other manufacturers.
Does the enhancer provide adequate light for you to do something in your driveway at night? Can it replace a spotlight or other light? Thanks for all your great content.
Just a question with your testing methods. When testing both cameras with IR did you turn the other camera off so the IR of each camera didn't interfere with the testing?
When testing the night vision between the G4 and G5, did you have the other camera off while testing. So that you only had the ir illuminating from the camera being tested.
Hello. we thank you for good videos, a short question Is it possible to administer the Ubiquiti USW-PRO-24 in any software without a Dream Machine or similar hub for incoming internet. Am in the phase of learning how Ubiquiti works, and the only place I find to ask questions about Ubiquiti products is youtube. we thank you in advance and warm greetings from Sweden.
Yes. About 5w led. The problem is decreased image quality when the camera switches to color. So the floodlight should only be considered for the effect of the white light on people, not as a video aid. The IR on the enhancer is much better than the on-camera only LEDs.
Great. Thanks for this. One question. Is the spotlight blinding close up? Would someone be shocked at this coming on if they approached a door for instance?
Why would a company create a new generation of a product only to make it worse instead of improving it in many different aspects? It doesn't make sense at all.
seriously, the price of these cameras for this quality.... is the opposite of VFM. G4 was better than G5 and that's all. with that money you can buy 8MP cameras with AI, IR and Led and better microphone and Alarm In/Out. The G5 is acting like there is no mic. all these years and still my opinion about UniFi cameras hasn't changed.
I agree with the pricing of the cameras is really high, but in my opinion (and coming from a Lorex system with 4k cameras) the ease of use with protect and adding cameras is top notch. Also, with protect is so much easier to find footage that you need then any of the systems. The price was a reason that it took me so long to us unifi cameras. I have 4 bullets and about to upgrade my one of them to the g5 pro. Don't need all of them 4k
@@Shunopoliexactly, I upgraded from hikvision and it’s so much better. Notifications on the phone, detections that show the movement in the snapshot. It’s awesome!

Any idea if the enhancer will work with the AI Pro (it also has the USB-C accessory port) or if it will have its own version at some point?
How is just the extra IR performance of the enhancer? I don't want to use the light, an IR comparison with and without enhancer would be great.
