This is absolutely a great video. Ubiquiti most certainly doesn't make clear the differences in these cameras on their website. Im getting ready to install surveillance cameras around my new home and this video really helped me decide which cameras to put where. From this video I was able to decide which camera I wanted in each location and I ordered the cameras as Im watching this video. \
Excellent video and comparison of these 3 cameras - I've been trying to decide which ones to get and this was very helpful. I think based on this I might mix and max based on location. Thank you!
I'm currently running 1 AI Pro, 1 AI bullet, G4 Doorbell Pro POE, and 5 G5 Bullets with one of them monitoring the garage. After my fence is erected. I'll plan on expanding the system in the future.
Have you had a chance to look at the 2K AI Bullet ? The plastic UI use sometimes can discolour, like most do, but it doesn't deteriorate and remains solid long term. I've had a couple of G3 bullets in full sun for a few years. The plastic did discolour a bit, but was always solid and not physically deteriorated. As a note, all Protect cameras in the G4 and G5 range with a microphone do the audio detection. I have G5 Flex's that do it. It depends how you have it configured in the Protect UI as to how long it needs to go for. In the Protect UI it shows it as an alarm symbol now, not sure if that was the same 3 months ago. If it goes for long enough to just not be a nuisance alarm or a quick test it works reliably and very well. I am guessing you didn't let your alarm go for long enough that first time when it went off. I had to let mine go for about 10 seconds before it would pick it up each time. Your smoke alarm uses the temporal tones that the Protect system picks up. I am in Australia and never had an issue with it detecting the smoke alarm testing, but I do have to let it run for at least 10 seconds. I think the issue may be you are not letting the alarms go off long enough
Thank you for watching. I can say on the smoke alarm, but I had the burglar alarm running for over 20 seconds, and it didn't pick that up. I can't say first hand on the cameras deteriorating over time, but the Access Points definitely become more brittle over the years in the sun, we have found this on-sites with outdoor APs we installed 6-7 years ago, but it isn't really a problem unless you need to move them. The Access Points still function well.
@@home.network.solutions I think UI have improved their plastics recently, but I still prefer to mount the access points in a slightly sheltered location. I recently got the G5 Pro with the Vision Enhancer, and they are a brilliant camera. I didn't need the advanced features of the AI Pro, so I am really happy with the G5 Pro. The G3 Bullets use to discolour badly, but they never actually crumbled, so maybe a good retrobrite would fix them lol. But yeah, I think the more modern plastics are definitely better. UI cameras are just so many steps higher up in quality over Reolink and even HikVision, and a lot more secure too
I have a question. Can you use face and/or animal recognition of the AI Pro to inform the Unify system that it doesn’t need to send notifications in the app? For example, when I’m working in my garden, it could recognize that it’s me and not send a gazillion messages every time I move, like my G4 Pro does. The same goes for our dogs/ chickens in the garden.
Do you have motion detection activated? It is normally preferable to just have people and vehicle only if you want to keep the notifications down. I do not believe you can reverse the notifications settings as you are suggesting
Is camera IR emission visible (glow red) if it is turned on in the night? In other words is it based on 850nm or 940nm LEDs? Minimum distance to get IR LEDs visible? Did you test that quite important feature? Thanks.
Good question. Yes all cameras were on at the same time so there would be more IR being emitted. I did try with cameras on individually but the difference was minimal. There were also 3 other non Ubiquiti cameras emitting IR.
Don't buy this stuff if you live in the UK. The returns process is done by sending stuff to the Netherlands. Your products get customs charges for returns! This stuff is garbage! I was offered instore credits to cover the customs charges! I will not be buying more items to send to the Netherlands! Very poor customer service.
There are lots of UK based suppliers with a simple UK based returns process. I’d be interested to know why you think the cameras are ‘garbage’ and what you are using instead.
Great comparison. Better than the other ubiquiti focussed channels
Thank you for watching! Glad it was helpful.

Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching 🙏
Great comparison! I think this cemented my choice of the G5 Pro over the bullet.
Twice the resolution, larger sensor and optical zoom, other than price its a no brainer.
Thanks. Yeah there is definitely quite a difference and if you have the budget it’s the better choice. Thanks for watching!

Really nice video, just wish I had your healthcare system.
Thanks for watching 🙏
Can’t help you on the healthcare front I’m afraid
Awesome comparison, thank you!
Thank you! And thanks for watching 🙏

Hi,
which of the cameras had IR-illumination turned on during the night-time images? Or did they all?
Thanks great video, really helpful 👌👍
Thank and thanks for watching 🙏

The US doesn't have a "standard" sound for smoke alarms. I've heard ones that sound just like yours, though.
Another viewer commented that the smoke alarm needs to run for at least 10 seconds so maybe this was the issue. Thanks for watching.

Does the standard g5 bullet do person or facial recognition?
It does do person recognition but not facial recognition
For the nighttime review did you individually switch off the other cameras infrareds or were all three admitting infrared light at the same time?
