- In this video I take a look at the brand new Unifi G5 PTZ camera from Ubiquiti networks. This is the second PTZ camera in the Unifi protect lineup and I have to say after using it for a couple months it has become one of my favorite.

Nice to see a PTZ at a lower price, but 2k with 4MP is not the standard today! Hope they will bring more in the future.

Again really good review! And if i'm correct everything out of the standard field of view will not get recognized or picked up by the camera? Like for example; you're default starting point is to the left and when i'm approaching from the right side the camera will turn when i walk in the image and start following me. It doesn't include motion sensors behind the default field of view to immediatly turn to the other side and start tracking. But for this price really nice camera. And i also hope they will sell it in black (actually i hope so with all the camera's of the G5 generation because it would make it a better option for the customers also to choose)

For the wall mount, do the mounting holes match the g4/g5 bullet cam's mounting points? I'm hoping I don't have to drill new holes on my stucco wall.
Thank you! If this were on the exterior corner of a carport facing the street, would the person tracking cause the camera to rotate backward or does it stop at some point?

Yeah I need that for trespassers in my yard. And it’s already sold out, so if you needed it now it’s a waiting game. Just like the 10g Sfp+ from ubiquity, I finally got one after like a year of being out of stock.
I’ll buy a AI version of the G5 PTZ for $599 but it’s needs at-least 3-5x optical zoom.

Thanks for the review. When I saw the specs a few months ago, it didn't wow me, and this video has confirmed it. 2k and 2x zoom are a completely joke in today's standard. The night color? Forget it. Ummmm probably a g5 pro ptz at some point for 4k and 10x zoom?
How far left/right does the camera turn? It looks all 360 degrees? Can you set what angle is the default centre? I would want to mount this in a location where the default straight ahead is at a right angle to how it’s mounted

Anyone know if the mounting holes match up with some of the other G4 and G5 cameras? Was hoping to swap a G4 bullet I have with the new PTZ and was gonna ask the better half to install it haha.

Sucks that there's no patrol mode. Hopefully it gets added. Any idea how person tracking works if there's multiple people on opposite side of the field of view?
We are in the Ai era, why they have in white color? DOes it come with the Ai features that the rest Ai cameras have?
It kind of looks like the drone from Oblivion. Especially with the ceiling mount version.

What is that 'patrolling' you spoke about? (is that some sort of 'scanning the perimeter' thing?) And indeed please make black models... since I have everything black/antraciet at my house lol... roof, drains, windows, overhangs... Greetings from the Dutch part of Belgium 😊

Well I’m a little disappointed,but for $400 Canadian it’s pretty impressive. I would have happily paid a few hundred dollars more if it had at least 10 times optical zoom though .
I’m kind of in disbelief it’s 2K also . UniFi , the 80’s called and they want their camera back .

Well same with the g5 pro I wasn’t super happy with the night vision then poof a firmware update fixed it

That "color nightvision" is a complete joke. I have a couple of Tapo cameras that cost a fraction of this thing, the C325WB has full color nightvision without any kind of spotlight. It's just full color in pitch black darkness. My C520WS also has person tracking, it has the patrol feature and costs a quarter of the price of this G5. Sure, it's "consumer grade", but if you are using it at home, you don't need industrial grade cameras.
But is out of stock 😂.
Personally don't like the look of it, don't think would look good on my house, a G5 ultra turret is more discreet.
Why so big on top, shame the design sucks.

While it’s nice to have it is a big fail! Ubiquity put out a PTZ from 5 years ago. You can tell management is from Apple
