yes I agree with everything on his list actually expect the X7 and 7 series which he showed at the end- I don't think they are ugly- I think luxury cars need big grilles and that those cars look extra luxurious with their larger grilles

In Germany, during the early oughts, BMW stood for Bangle Muss Weg (Bangle must go). He managed to really alienate a lot of people from the brand for a long time. Also, every iteration of every X model with an even number has been ugly. Same goes for every single GT series. I actually find the new M3/4 more tolerable than those hideous things.

I’m glad you pointed out the lights stolen from a Lexus. I had a coworker tell me they had a new Beamer and I never noticed it in the parking lot. This whole time, I though someone owned the new IS350.
Unlike a lot of these types of car channels, this guy actually knows what he's talking about, along with still giving his opinion! Great channel, I subscribed. (Also while writing this comment you mentioned Frank Stephenson which is cool 👍)
BMW has simply lost its way: churning out expensive, ugly and forgettable appliances for people who want to scream: "Please, please look at me, I own a BMW."
It worked, they surpassed merc with that strategy. But they lost the enthusiasts. Porsche managed to keep the gt and boxster/cayman cars relevant while introducing panamera and suvs for the lucrative nonenthusiast market.

You remind me of Jeremy Clarkson, when he was gonna award the ' Ugliest car of the year awards '. He actually mentioned the BMW Range of said era, especially the BMW X3.
The only thing is, although at very few times, Jeremy was sometimes very wrong, while this guy is on point. For example, the M5 E60s design. While that car had engine issues, the design was completely clean and looks great today. I ain't hating on Jeremy Clarkson. That is blasphemy. I am just saying that he kind of turned a 180 at times.
I was at a BMW dealership for routine maintenance and there was a 4 series on the showroom floor. That grille actually makes the Lexus fly catcher grille seem attractive in comparison.
100% agree with everything you said, the fact that Bangle left the car industry was the best for all concerned. I actually didn't buy the latest M3 because of that grille, I just couldn't bring myself to pay that kind of money for a car I would always have to approach from the back, which incidentally was nothing to write home to mom about either.
First time on the channel. I couldn’t agree with you more on the new BMW designs being ugly. I honestly lose sleep over the way BMW is heading with design. For example take the 2018 BMW X3 vs the 2022 X3 and you will clearly see they went from the classy/sporty look they are known for to a strange and try hard new model. For example they took away the fog lights and gave the front some boring odd shaped bumper. Then the tail lights look like energy swords from Halo video game. Fake vents and black inserts almost like lexus. Not to mention they took away the shift lever which had digital gear selections on it and a great ergonomic parking button design to now a simple tasteless shifter that looks like it came out of a Toyota. They are cutting corners and it shows. Very disappointing to say the least👎🏻
I'm a fan of BMW and German brands for awhile, I appreciate your commentary about the brand. Other reviewers would call out the whole brand for a few ugly models but you compare it to what BMW has done right like the 3.0 CSL Hommage, E38 7 series and E46 coupe. Honest opinion, they need to give the new designers the Chris Bangle treatment.
BMW's were great till 2000 year any model , reliable too. This video clip shows them after the year 2000 . It's the first car in the world, without an oil deep stick 2007 model lol
Things I have in my mind (Keep in mind this is my opinions): I think the Z4 looks good, not ugly. Also, I think the only Bangle design I'm sort of ok with is e60.

@@TopCarsTV You mean the E39 is aging like wine. The E60 has not aged well since it's debut just like the E9x gen. Even though the E60 M5s came with the cool V10, I honestly would not want to be seen in one, let alone driving it since it looks just as ugly as 17 years ago.
It's take some time like s class lots of people love older version but now everyone like s class . Some times people don't know what they actually need specially about design
I walk in the show room recently It's way different then we saw on screen It still feels exclusive and luxury. And the time I step inside It's just perfect. That's my comments of the 2021 S-class

2:38 ok I could see that but: Imagine you hit a person with that concept car! The body will maintain itself in the front or it will be swallowed by it! By contrast, you can see the production model was designed with accidents in mind in a way that by getting hit by the car your body will move upwards saving your ass in a accident (maybe) Its safer for you it's my point

I really wish BMW sitll existed. It is now a car company unrecognizable to those who loved the BMW from 20 years ago and prior. They have completely lost form, function, and "form equals function".
There are so many horrible looking BMW designs to chose from. You could have included the 6 series along with the 7. The back end of the 6 is similarly ugly. You could have included the M4 along with the M3, because it's also a mess. It's even worse of a mess, IMO. What about the i3 and the i8? They are horrible looking. The back end of the i8 looks like it's giving birth to a small 911. And you can't talk about fugly BMWs without mentioning the XM. It looks like it was designed by a crazy person. Even as a long-term BMW owner, I can't stand many BMW designs.
The 7 series is ugly, but not thaaaaaat ugly, as the new 4 series andt ix crap, whoever design those pieces of Shlt, actually need to quit and give up on anything car related, even driving.
Here in Czechia it is mandatory to have a bucket infront of your new BMW now. It was to expensive to clean all that vomit from the pavement. Its scientificaly proven by our ČLK (Czech Medical Doctor Asociation) That showing the front of modern BMW is the best way to induce the gag reflex. ;) True stuff.
I think the previous 7 (G11) and even the current G70 should've really earned their place here. Like in the Top 3. The current Z4, 3 coupe and M3-M4, X4, x7,1 series and 7 (ah well actually, let's just put it simply: current BMW's!!) are so so damn ugly they'd make you wanna hang Bangle's poster in your room. Instead of organizing the most beautiful funeral and swann song of thermal engined cars, BMW's given us cars known for their 'offensive design', bought by tasteless bounders. It's as if Munich wanted to give society a way to reckognize assholes from very far away on the roads. I don't know if I should hate my beloved brand for what it did to itself, or thank it so I can avoid its buyers...
I have owned a BMW 528i 1977, 518i 1988, dreamed and almost bought a 628i 1978. The sharknose style is the best design. A new BMW whith the ugliest front in history. I wouldnt be found dead with it. Even if I was presented whith the money of a new BMW cost they would have to pay me double the to even concider a purcase. Still i propably say NO. I understand why development has to go forward, but why that front? The sleak hungry nose of of early BMW´s is the most beautiful CSi 3.0 coupe, thats the way to go!
7:36 I disagree, I think it looks handsome and subtle, and its design was the base for all the generations that came after it. Call me crazy but I think many iconic designs came out of the Bangle era of BMW, especially the E63 M6 V10.
I own a 6 Series coupé (E63), love it, and it's really the design that drew me in ... The front end of the 7 Series (E65) is not okay though, but BMW fixed it with the facelift.

The current one is the result of: take an idea, then take it to extremes! But there is a limit, dictated by good taste. PS: by admission of the designers, a reference was also the Alfa of the 60s, with their perfect proportions
You forgot the old BMW Z4 the ugliest BMW coupe/cabrio of the last 15 years. GT3 and GT5 models of BMW were all very ugly too. I think each time BMW built these cars Mercedes was getting happier and happier.

And then there is the destruction of the interior. Gone are the wonderful orange backlight gages in the instrument cluster. Replaced by a nintendo crap screen. Confusing and shockingly useless.
After the year 2000 I switched to Jaguar for the same reason. Ugly is the least said, completely unreliable also. 2007 model had no oil deep stick lol!!!
I personally think the only way to get the new M4 without having a completely terrible design, is to buy or wrap it in pitch black. That way it's much harder to spot the grille in the first place. Hell, it almost looks pretty in that color.
Man, thanks for calling out the truth about BMW new designs. Most people seems to lie to themselves because BMW is German and German car is the holigrail of everything good. NOT!
Moral: If you mix futuristic design with a normal gorgeous car design , it becomes very ugly! This is why it has no class! And that’s why I would prefer vintage cars than futuristic cars as vintage cars are revolutionary and beautiful!
That’s a thing of taste, but from a design perspective it hasn’t much to do with beauty, i think it is more a product of Marketing analyzing than something someone really had a inspiration for. I know this could be said about most cars today, but this is the pinnacle for me.

MY UNPOPULAR OPINION: I think the facelift really upgraded the look of the BMW 7-Series E65. The sad-looking headlights are gone and instead of them, there are more smoother looking ones. The facelift had improved the rear of the car significantly. There are not some three random rear lights, but they took the E90 3-Series rear lights and put it there. And those fit there perfectly. Overall I think this car is really nice (but the E38 was still beeter looking). The F01 generation was much worse in my opinion, even worse than the pre-facelift E65.
I only ever saw the z4 as a production car and had always thought it was an average-looking car. Not ugly, but also not pretty. But after seeing the concept it looks as ugly as a naked mole rat
I think every manufacture should take this man(stype) as a one of their designer or a market statistic reader, as his taste was never wrong in my opinion
Great upload, I hadn't found your channel until now and I'm glad I have. Honest and refreshing; unlike BMW lately, the iX is an abomination of flab, and the 1 series, you are right, they've never got it right, worse now than ever. Mercedes must be laughing all the way to the bank these days
Sadly I actually prefer the 2001 7 series over the previous gen. It just looks bigger and more mean looking. Both will have hellish repair bills since it is a BMW though

I really wish BMW sitll existed. It is now a car company unrecognizable to those who loved the BMW from 20 years ago and prior. They have completely lost form, function, and "form equals function".
There are so many horrible looking BMW designs to chose from. You could have included the 6 series along with the 7. The back end of the 6 is similarly ugly. You could have included the M4 along with the M3, because it's also a mess. It's even worse of a mess, IMO. What about the i3 and the i8? They are horrible looking. The back end of the i8 looks like it's giving birth to a small 911. And you can't talk about fugly BMWs without mentioning the XM. It looks like it was designed by a crazy person. Even as a long-term BMW owner, I can't stand many BMW designs.
It's so sad to see what BMW does with his cars. Even I could have designed them better.

The 7 series is ugly, but not thaaaaaat ugly, as the new 4 series andt ix crap, whoever design those pieces of Shlt, actually need to quit and give up on anything car related, even driving.
Here in Czechia it is mandatory to have a bucket infront of your new BMW now. It was to expensive to clean all that vomit from the pavement. Its scientificaly proven by our ČLK (Czech Medical Doctor Asociation) That showing the front of modern BMW is the best way to induce the gag reflex. ;) True stuff.

I think the previous 7 (G11) and even the current G70 should've really earned their place here. Like in the Top 3. The current Z4, 3 coupe and M3-M4, X4, x7,1 series and 7 (ah well actually, let's just put it simply: current BMW's!!) are so so damn ugly they'd make you wanna hang Bangle's poster in your room. Instead of organizing the most beautiful funeral and swann song of thermal engined cars, BMW's given us cars known for their 'offensive design', bought by tasteless bounders. It's as if Munich wanted to give society a way to reckognize assholes from very far away on the roads. I don't know if I should hate my beloved brand for what it did to itself, or thank it so I can avoid its buyers...
I have owned a BMW 528i 1977, 518i 1988, dreamed and almost bought a 628i 1978. The sharknose style is the best design. A new BMW whith the ugliest front in history. I wouldnt be found dead with it. Even if I was presented whith the money of a new BMW cost they would have to pay me double the to even concider a purcase. Still i propably say NO. I understand why development has to go forward, but why that front? The sleak hungry nose of of early BMW´s is the most beautiful CSi 3.0 coupe, thats the way to go!

7:36 I disagree, I think it looks handsome and subtle, and its design was the base for all the generations that came after it. Call me crazy but I think many iconic designs came out of the Bangle era of BMW, especially the E63 M6 V10.
I own a 6 Series coupé (E63), love it, and it's really the design that drew me in ... The front end of the 7 Series (E65) is not okay though, but BMW fixed it with the facelift.
The E65 is one of my favourite 7 series generations

You forgot the old BMW Z4 the ugliest BMW coupe/cabrio of the last 15 years. GT3 and GT5 models of BMW were all very ugly too. I think each time BMW built these cars Mercedes was getting happier and happier.

I personally think the only way to get the new M4 without having a completely terrible design, is to buy or wrap it in pitch black. That way it's much harder to spot the grille in the first place. Hell, it almost looks pretty in that color.

Moral: If you mix futuristic design with a normal gorgeous car design , it becomes very ugly! This is why it has no class! And that’s why I would prefer vintage cars than futuristic cars as vintage cars are revolutionary and beautiful!

That’s a thing of taste, but from a design perspective it hasn’t much to do with beauty, i think it is more a product of Marketing analyzing than something someone really had a inspiration for.
I know this could be said about most cars today, but this is the pinnacle for me.

MY UNPOPULAR OPINION:
I think the facelift really upgraded the look of the BMW 7-Series E65. The sad-looking headlights are gone and instead of them, there are more smoother looking ones. The facelift had improved the rear of the car significantly. There are not some three random rear lights, but they took the E90 3-Series rear lights and put it there. And those fit there perfectly. Overall I think this car is really nice (but the E38 was still beeter looking). The F01 generation was much worse in my opinion, even worse than the pre-facelift E65.

I only ever saw the z4 as a production car and had always thought it was an average-looking car. Not ugly, but also not pretty. But after seeing the concept it looks as ugly as a naked mole rat
I think every manufacture should take this man(stype) as a one of their designer or a market statistic reader, as his taste was never wrong in my opinion

Sadly I actually prefer the 2001 7 series over the previous gen. It just looks bigger and more mean looking. Both will have hellish repair bills since it is a BMW though

Some truly hideous designs here. That said, didn't Bangle design the E92? I used to own one and I think it's a beautiful design.
The 2016 BMW 1 is really nice and look mean af. I know because I have it as a city car and my freinds too.
