With the unveiling of the new BMW 2 Series, I have completely lost my confidence in Bimmer to make a good looking car. Along with the controversial changes to the M3 and M4, and speculation of what the X8 SUV could look like, it's gonna be a while till they make a good looking car. But why? What's motivated the german automaker to change their formula so boldly?

I think the Funniest part about this is that I remember a meme a few years ago of bmw grills and how they keep getting bigger and bigger, and the final one was a very over exaggerated grill, and it litterally looks like this lol
I remember that meme!!!! It really does look just like this!

Maybe that's where bmw found their inspiration, seen the meme and were like ah yes, this is brilliant!

“It has SEVEN radiators” *every mechanic immediately hates this car*
Surely every mechanic is gonna LOVE this car. Ch-ching on those repair bills!
sadly that's really not uncommon nowadays..
@@meady200 I can hear it now "so yeah looks like 4 of your 7 radiators have shit themselves on you, and we need to replace them all for the car to run properly, each one costs right around $2000 for the parts and then labor will be about $6000 because it's a BMW so bottom line is it's totaled just buy a new one"
R+R radiator A-B-C-E and replace radiator D; labor 7.5 hours😂 Techs learn how to remove just one of them, without removing the bumper and sneaking out the faulty one in a quarter of the time, lol. I'm sure after a couple of months repairing them, these would be easy money to most.
I think the most challenging part, for those without the proper tools, would be bleeding the system after they opened it.

The grill has a dual function - the placement helps the rad to evacuate air more quickly and the aesthetics help me evacuate my bowels more frequently
The aesthetics of this thing have really saved me money!
You have me in the first half not gonna lie
@@-nightraider-1169 I thought this was serious until the second part 😂
Balls in yo jaws💀
The idea of the larger grill being functional is wrecked by the fact that the center of the grill (crash bar) is a solid, there is no airflow. It is 4 separate grills making 2 in appearance. When you paint that to match, you realize that the grill is no bigger (if not only slightly bigger) than any previous models.
I also believe that it not having the exterior trim around the grill makes it stand out more, it almost looks like it is floating. I struggle to think of a BMW that did not have an outer plate whether it be painted/chrome/black.
They could have just painted the crash bar to match the car and it would bring back what past generations looked like.
Exactly. BMW just wanted to stir up some controversy to get some press coverage. None of this is really necessary and I think a lot of people will get an aftermarket bumper cover ASAP.
Exactly.
Exactly.
Exactly.
Exactly This, and if you put such a signature like Grill in front of a car you can't crush it with a Numberplate, which takes away the entire Design element. They could have done something like Alfa and put the Grill on the side. And on the M4 GT3 Racing car without a Number Plate the openings also are quite smaller as the design suggests. I think it's for Racing, the Guys in front of you will be so disgusted by the Grill, they'll let you pass to not vomit. :-P
I would say the dual round headlights has also been a part of their design for a long time.
Not really the new 2 series two door doesn’t have them
@@Tomoyo0827 lights haven’t been 2x2 in a long time but the resemblance has always been there - still is albeit in a much more restrained amount. 2-series coupe being the exception now.
Video is misleading. There are many aspects of the bmw design language.
Twin headlights
Kink in the C pillar
L shaped tail lights
General powerful design of the rear end
Short front overhang
BMW has abandoned all these in various models
@@ZhaustEzine powerful design of the end is still there though and it looks nice and they also kind of have their twin round headlights
@@Tomoyo0827 bmw isnt bmw anymore
What I think invalidates the aerodynamic argument, is that the grill has a quite large beam running through the centre of it for the license plate and parking sensors. You can even see it in some of the shots in this video. This means that BMW could have very easily split the grill up into a top and bottom part, like on it's older models, while making both a little bit larger(instead of almost grotesquely larger) to meet the necessary airflow.
Radiators don't require airflow. The heat is exchanged at the surface through contact with air. That air only has to be removed for new air to replace it due to atmospheric pressure. The reason for not having a front shroud is to keep a low pressure region from forming in front of the radiator.
@@briand8090 Removing the air and replacing is airflow. If you are reading this on a PC, it likely has fans blowing over one or more radiators. The faster the air flows, the more it can remove heat from the radiator. This is just a styling choice, and like many it seems bizarre at first but may catch on. Or it may not. But the OP is right, the tall chipmunk teeth look is not a must have.
Could not agree more. And it is a really odd choice to go with huge grills when the industry is moving to electric. The new BMW i4 has huge pig nose FAKE grills.
Yeah don't think about it too much. This video is mostly apologetics to a hideous design that everyone already knows is hideous.
What i was thinking. There was one comarison foto in this video and the new design is at max 20% larger than the old one, they could have easily kept the old design. My guess is that its for the chinese market, they like those designs
When the car is shown with the bumper off, you can clearly see the horizontal bumper beam blocking off the middle of the radiators anyway.. So there really isn't any reason the grille couldnt have been broken up in the same place. Theoretically the air hitting that middle spot in the grille is really just hitting the bumper beam.
They could have also colored it to match the car, and just installed inconspicuous vents instead of making the extra space part of the grill! Well unless that's actually what you mean.. Idk
Damn I was just about to make the same comment.
Ahhh interesting
I've been saying that it was the fact it crossed the bumper line that makes it look weird ever since I noticed that fact. I'm so glad that there's finally a popular video stating this fact. Thank you Donut!
Edit: This is one of my most liked comments ever, thank you Donut community, you all help make this channel such a chill place and a haven from the toxicity of too many other channels.
It looks cool, like the front of a vented turbine.
Agree - the problem is there is no front bumper line on this and a lot of other cars these days, in what I see as a hideous trend. Just looks wrong, like something's missing. In some cases like something's actually missing, like a car that had it's front facia ripped off in a crash.

I would have put in an order a long time ago if the i4 didn’t have this mess for a nose
I love it
Nolan was halfway there, the issue is partially that the grille extends below the crash structure, but it's also that the top of the nostrils extend above the inner corners of the headlights by and protrude well in front of them. This really emphasizes the "pig nose" aesthetic" of this design feature. If the were on the same plane as the headlights fore and aft, and sat level or below the inner corner of the headlights, the atrocity would be reduced.

I can't take the 'performance' argument seriously, there are far too many 800+hp 335i's with the old grille and far less radiators and intercoolers, that work just fine every single day in the Florida heat. All BMW is doing by adding all those rads, is increasing complexity so it breaks more often and you have to spend more to maintain it, because it now requires a specialist to work on it.
Nah, it's ugly because the designer failed and no one up top cared enough about what the car looks like to say anything about it, the M3 went from being an affordable sportscar to a REALLY expensive high end sports car with very little more than you got from previous generations except it was vastly more complex and cost SO much more to service, and it's ugly too. They needed to learn this lesson, they've spent many years of continuing to increase the price of the M3 while giving marginal improvements because we all still wanted one, now that they made it look like that, very few people actually want them, and now BMW has to innovate and fix the problem, they needed this reality check, the years of consistent adoration from fans made them feel like they could do no wrong, well it turns out they could.
All agreed, but what are you talking about. 800hp 335s? 😂
Stock 335i's didn't work fine from the factory, much less tuned and under the Florida sun. Also BMW at the very least has to make sure their cars run at the right temperatures in factory spec.
Performance and luxury ... not just performance i guess ... no idea what they were thinking
There's literally a bumper beam/license plate and black plastic covering the spot behind the grille where more bumper could/should be. The grille isn't even actually that large. Just ugly. You are 100% correct
@@TobyMacNewsboys well, I exaggerated for effect lol I know a couple but they are very heavily modified and barely a 335 anymore
7:50 Keeping the grille above the crash structure is certainly one thing. I was positive you were reading my mind up until this, but the only lines I see being crossed are literally the lines! They're horizontal! Instead of the vertical lines in the grilles of all other BMWs. These are the two defining design principals being broken.
The horizontal grill lines is a very good point. I never thought of it like that.

Yeah, and I’m not buying the excuse that this was done under the guise of performance, rather than styling.
When you factor in the crash bumper bisecting the grilles; it doesn’t appear to gain that much more surface area over the F80.
While it may have increased somewhat, I doubt it’s enough to make a large or noticeable difference. I’d really like to see some engineering documentation that backs this up.
Additionally, the F80 with DCT had a ton of radiators and coolers. 6 or 7 if I’m not mistaken.
I think BMW is trying to push back against the criticism by using engineering as a defense.
True, the i4 and the iX also have the same shape of „grill“ in the front, even though it‘s not for cooling but, in fact, just styling.

@@konstantinlaberl11 But this video is from 18 hours ago. So that's an invalid arguement to say that the grill is only on the M3 and M4.

These things are everywhere in my hometown - Munich. I think all the huffing and puffing is a bit much, but I have to admit - I don't like them either. If you can believe it - they look even worse here. In most of Europe - you are required to have a front license plate - and these are the long and skinny sort. They are placed in the middle of the grill - at the approximate height of were a bumper would be - cutting the kidneys in half and extending over their sides. Its a disaster. The rumor in town is that the design, while functional - was a nod to the Chinese market, which associates large grills with powerful motors. Audi has been selling like crazy in that market, and BMW views China as its key to growth - so they catered to that norm. The mules I spot around town (often) have all covered the grills - but appear to have larger, longer grills across the entire line from the silhouette under the plastic covering. (and nearly all of them lately are electric as well.)
We here in China are all pretty grossed out, so if that’s their goal it probably didn’t work
yeah wtf. The Chinese aren't like this neither. BMW missed this one for sure.
I won't understand why people call it kidney. To me it appears like a pig nose, or a nose. But not a kidney
Once again, capitalism wins and a beautiful design is lost to it. Wonderful.
Im from munich too and i more or less live in the BMW area. I actually like the Grill design. I see them like 3 times a week and it grew on me. Also saw the M4 CSL today and the shape just looks awesome.
I thought the grill was the issue till I saw an m4 in person and now I just think it's the whole car.
Even with the teardown of the front elements, there’s a horizontal bumper strut that separates the radiator in the upper half from the oil coolers in the lower half, so it’s a conscious design decision to make a kidney grill that spans the entire height of the front of the car.
The same idea is seen in other, newer BMW designs, so it’s just gonna get weirder from here I’m afraid…
The horizontal component is moat likely the actual bumper core. It's a requirement for the US and most other markets.
@@briand8090 Yeah, that's what I meant, which means there's no reason to have the kidney grill span over that since that section doesn't require ventilation. You can kinda even imagine what the grill could possibly look like if it follows typical design conventions to an upper and lower intake manifold as opposed to the huge honkers it currently sports.
Also, in countries where you have to have a licence plate on the front it goes right across the middle of the grille where that bumper is 😆 It looks even more stupid then.

Another rule they crossed is the leafs in the BMW grill are always vertically. In the new M3 and M4 they are horizontally and that also makes it not feel like BMW anymore.
I came here to mention it, that's correct.
Well, some of the leafs go horizontal in the older cars from before the 80’s, but the difference there is the leafs are small, there are a lot of them, so the difference isn’t as noticeable. With these ones, the leafs are horizontal, but they’re also BIG.
Electric BMWs also has this kind of grille. So i really believed its not a proposed design for aeros etc. It just looked hideous!
@@Has7DCT In electric cars the grill is not really necessary so why they still have to make it so over sized one might wonder.
That would make a huge difference.
As a person who sold BMWs, I must say. you're joking right? Keep it up and you'll be changing your name to Beaver Motor Works.
Nolan, you make an excellent point with the "Kidney" shape grille going below the bumper... however it also looks like the "Kidney" is missing the chrome outline (or some color of outline). In all the models that you had referenced in the video, there was some outline that separated the "Kidney" shape grille from the main color of the car itself. Without that line to separate the grille from the hood/bumper it also adds to the change that seems hard to swallow. Thoughts?
Personally the lack of chrome outline didn't matter that much to me, I honestly accept it on the sportier models (iirc the M3/4 from a couple years back). If say the 7 or 8 series lack the chrome then that's a bigger miss in my eyes in comparison to M series not having it, since they're more luxury than sport. But still definitely not as big of an issue as... whatever this abomination is. Lol
All the other models also have the slats vertical, though with these grilles I don’t know if it would have helped.

Maybe they just need to make some ugly cars now so later they can sell more cars just by changing this grill design.
I would like to see a modern-retro classic 2000e BMW with a modern power train, and subtle changes, that might save them.
That's true! It negates his entire argument about optimizing radiator position. I was thinking wow Nolan you nailed it, why didn't anyone else say this? But you are right. Imo it came from the Vision iNext SUV that debuted as a concept car in 2018...the first time this grill design was ever seen as far as I know. Which goes to show it has absolutely nothing to do with performance since EVs don't need grills at all.
They could have just kept the front styling of the G20 3 Series.
The car was designed for AWD.. the entirety of that front end doesn’t benefit anything for the RWD version because it doesn’t need the extra cooling… they could’ve even made it smaller for the RWD versions too, or used the G20’s front end.
At least most of it is actually open to the radiator, everything except where the relatively slim bumper structure is. Unlike a lot of other cars on the hideous huge whale-shark grille bandwagon that have 80% of it blocked off, only a small actual opening to the radiator. Had they moved the bumper to the outside, where it belongs to actually serve it's purpose of protecting the bodywork, it would look far better, with the same area available for cooling air.
The thing that really draws me away from the new m3 and m4 grill is the shape of it. On the older bmws with the kidney grill you can clearly see they are all smoothly rounded. But with these new larger grills, the corners are all angled and kinda jagged. And that just doesnt speak the same lingo as other bmws
BMW's design is evolving! Just backwards...

Great video! I also have tried so hard to like the new grille on the M3/M4. I just cant. Ive given it time enough, but I just cant. The rear and side of the M3 looks awesome though. I will never understand that nose!
Looks like the new sonata
The car kinda looks like the new mustang to me if you fix the grill
The side and rear view of the M4 is even worse
the side of the m3 looks disgusting, that rear door gap and wheel arch surfacing looks like a badly made bodykit, the reflections don't even line up. It's shameful for s brand like bmw to have such poor design quality.
Tbh it grew on me over time, but I can still only enjoy it from a few angles…
To answer the question at the end of the video: no performance definitely doesn't make up for an ugly car. A beautifully designed car inspires passion and love for everything automotive. No one hung a countach poster on the wall because it was so mechanically adept. Pagani had been so successful because of their emotional appeal, from magnificent styling to their soul-stirring engine notes.
Totally agree - people buy these cars as status symbols, as toys, as something to make themselves feel happy. An appealing aesthetic is an important part of that along with good performance and being fun to drive. The only people who don't care about how a vehicle look are those buying it as an appliance, as something to serve a functional need and nothing else. Hence why so many delivery trucks are sort of ugly, they aren't bought for anyone's enjoyment, they're to do a job. This is the opposite extreme, this car is meant to make someone happy, and looking good helps with that.
@@quillmaurer6563 exactly, like, what if the multipla was quicker than an RS3? It wouldn't have made it any better
I am the complete opposite. If these cars were wrapped in cardboard but handled and performed the same way I would still be into them. Aesthetics have never done anything for me. I am not looking at the grill or anything on the outside while I am driving it, I just care about comfort, and performance when it comes to vehicles like this. I am the type of person to not care what anyone else thinks about me or my things though. Nothing wrong with wanting to "look cool" or whatever you want "attractive" vehicles for though.
You don't even need to try and justify this ugly design with performance gains, because there's a ton of race cars and street cars that are much faster than those ugly BMWs and they don't look like shit.
@@marconesme Is 911 GT2 RS faster than this m3/m4? YES. Is that car more ugly than those pieces of shit? NO. More ugly design does not equal to better performance.
I read somewhere that the reason for the giant 4 Series (and now M3) grille was basically China. Large grille = status symbol over there, so they designed their new cars to sell in China. Back in the day OEMs used to make different specs for different markets but now we’re stuck with this all over the world it seems
thank you for being my voice on this, literally i have the same feelings
I feel like the bumper reinforcement is still blocking air and connecting the bumper in front of it wouldn’t of made a difference. If u painted the plate body color it would look normal 🤣
This, I was almost tempted to throw it into photoshop and cover up just that centre portion (which is blocked by the crash bar anyway so not changing overall intake capacity or aerodynamics) with body coloured plastic, but then towards the end of the video he showed others have done that already.
So it's not the case of "IT JUST NEEDS MOAR AIR", it's a case of: They did it on purpose
Thank you, airflow is not a good excuse for this fugly bumper design
Would explain why it looks better with a front plate on it, fast isn't enough... hence I own a 2 tonne Lexus
Hey Theo how are you man

Appears that you’re the only one that likes the Lexus LC. Sales are abysmal. Also, never seen a man driving one here in New Orleans. It’s like the housewife sporty car option in NOLA.
2 things: first, for the most part, the stock versions almost ALWAYS have a chrome lining, that was the first thing that caught my eye.
Second, I understand why they crossed the line, as you said, it was always to keep the most important parts safe, right? Well, with darn near ALL the radiators moved closer to the front, in a front end wreck, they're getting demolished no matter what you do. So I get both sides of the argument, but hey, everyone has their tastes right?
The lack of a proper front bumper is the main problem I see with this and a lot of other cars these days. They have a bumper inside, but the whole idea of a bumper is to protect the car, and to protect the bodywork it would need to be outside said bodywork. This car would be so much better both functionally and aesthetically if it had a proper front bumper.
The most important parts to keep safe are the occupants, everything in front of them is crumple zone.
man i think it look incredble : it's one of the only and rare BMW that has a diffrent disgn than the other BMW

As much as I think it's an ugly grille, and the surrounding features aren't cohesive, why not go with it, but kick the plate to the side, like Alfa do (but on the opposite side, as beemer have already ripped off the Giulia enough)
@@TCL_Dasler How have BMW ripped off the Giulia? That's kinda like saying a person's penis are ripped of his dad's penis.

@@azertyytreza8947 I bet you drive on the public roads with no license plates at all.
Yes the car might be a really good driving experience, but there are other really good sport saloons that don't look awful. The Alfa Romeo Giulia is the first that comes to mind. Even though the Giulia is older, I'd rather have it than the BMW. Looks are important especially in a high-end car.

i agree

Bumper2bumper on the new m cars
Yes
It’s also due to the Chinese car market, they want the grill of the car to be more huge to act as a status symbol
First time i saw this car i was driving in front of a dealership where it was right on the center... I had to look back to make sure i wasn't looking as a monster and it was an actual car. It truly feels the designers on BMW are just testing to see much longer they can keep getting away with it
Nah, we’ve all missed the hidden reason motivating this grill. BMW didn’t just make the grill for cooling, they designed it knowing full well that a short production run, visually uniquely ICE with a manual will make their money back in maintenance as the new M3 becomes vehicle oddity and collector’s relic in an electric future.
You can enjoy that electric car future by yourself.
Thats an interesting take on things, I reckon you could have something there.
Personally I like the new design. It's aggressive and bold, so it looks like a performance car without being over the top like the new Civic type R.
Nolan: The BWM M3 grill looks like a pig's nose!
Me: The grill looks like the teeth of a beaver!
For me it is a pacifier grille
Took a few months since initial production, I've actually grown to love the design.
Same here
I dont understand the hate they haven't looked better they're so mean
Additionally, I think it needs that thin rim of chrome the other kidney grills have. Plus it's a bit too angular. Smooth it out. Alternatively- If they must keep to the current dimensions they could thin and smooth it out a bit to evoke those early models to look more on brand.
When Nolan was setting up the crash bar hypothesis I thought he was about to mention the chrome trim. Even if it was a black trim it’d work obviously, and be more of the times I guess.
Yes exactly, why does everything have to look like the freaking batmobile!!
And the slats.. they’re horizontal
Yes! In fact any outline would do. It would tidy the looks up quite significant.
When I think of a car, the first aspects of it that come to my mind are mechanical. If it doesn't look that good, *cough base 2022 WRX launch cough* the car can always be bought in black and it won't look as bad. Honestly, I'm just happy that they made an I6 with the option of choosing a manual transmission.
Same, I can get over the grille for a nice manual BMW M4
But that ugly grille makes no difference performance wise, there’s a horizontal strut dividing the radiator from the oil coolers.
I've seen the grill in person and in pictures and each and every time I cover my eyes, scream and run away. It just doesn't work. I've owned 2 mid 70s 2002, an M Roadster, 3 series sedan, and now a wagon. Each and every car just looked wonderful from nose to tail. The grill is where it starts and BMW really has missed the mark.
I think your point about crossing over the bumper line is spot on why they look so bad. For the record, the Lexus grill does the same thing and for me has always been hideous (can anyone say Koi fish?)
One other BMW design feature is the Hoffmeister kink of the side windows at the rear of the car. It has been there for decades! Let's hope BMW doesn't decide that side rear windows with humongous kinks looks nice...
Great video!
What I noticed about the design is the fact that the grill didn't have any chrome trim around the it where as of the other models they showed had the chrome trim
I actually think it looks fine??
@@Bald_MartinFN Chrome is typical in the standard spec BMWs but finished in black instead in M models (as well as standard models with the optional M spec).
Also on many models these grills are totally fake.
it's a matter of habit. Even we Germans found it very strange at first, but now it even looks good. bmw and mercedes change their designs because of the chinese because the chinese are the main consumer
2 years later, I think we can all agree it grew on us.
yep lmao
No it did not
If they continue with their plan to get rid of the new grille style and go back to the old style, as odd as it is, it will become a collector version. Just like any other quirky thing BMW has done, someone will want to have one in their lineup.
The answer is simple: "Chinese market." China LOVES luxury brands and big, ostentatious grilles garrishly advertise the car. All luxury brands have been moving this way for the past decade.

I like it 👌 some people struggle with change I get that but it doesn't look bad and it's a performance boost that these cars have been needing for a long time when I worked at BMW dealer seemed most cars had issues related to overheating turbos melting and breaking different plastic components in the engine bay or warping aluminum parts
All of us waiting for the next Gen of the M4 to get rid of that grill 😂😂😂
Not me though, I like it
The clips of other people's fixes real highlights just how bad that grill is and how much better it could be.
Exactly, when the amateur/DIY designs look better than the original, you know you've messed up. But BMW are insistant that the feedback they get about their cars is all positive. Until people take their custom elsewhere, they will carry on like this unfortunately.
I like Money

This is the first time im seeing this vehicle and I freaking love it. it looks super stylish.
Loved the design-language animations showing how certain makes/models evolve while retaining their identity. I do however think that Donut missed an opportunity to save costs. The Land Rover Defender: show one image for three seconds.
Same with Lada.
I've said for the longest time that if BMW is hellbent on making their grills larger, they should take inspiration from the 507. That would actually look good
Cooling can't be used as an excuse, when you've still got the entire crash structure + license plate covering the middle of it. They should've just stuck with the classic kidney design. Thank god for the aftermarket, who's already fixed this design flaw.
don't forget the i4 M50 and the IX or the higher power M8 competition just to name a few.
M8 competition is higher power and doesn't have the ugly grill while the i4 M50 and IX are electric
2023 is almost over, and I'm absolutely in love with new M4
Personally I think the “nostrils” of the grill that continue on to the bonnet is what makes the front of the car so awkward looking, with out the dip between the two grills and a little less rounding off at the bottom would make it into a super aggressive looking machine
sounds like a similarity to an Evo X front.
I have to say I came here to say he exact same thing.. I believe that what Nolan says is true, but also the fact that the grill continues on to the hood (or bonnet) makes it so 🐷
Yep. I think the massive "lung grilles" can work, but certainly not the way its implemented here. This is as if they designed the car around the grille instead of the other way around.
Does anyone remember 2001 when BMW got a redesign of the rear end by designer Chris Bangle and they started calling the 2001 7-series the "Bangle-butt-bimmer"?

I wish it looked a bit like the new m5... that one is almost perfect.
there's so many of retro 80's classic cult who really love the design of a DMC DeLorean despite the meh performance. I think it says a lot about a car's design
But then you can get a 400 dollar LS crate engine in a junkyard and a ZF6 and you basically have a Corvette
The other design issue i can see with this grille is that kidney “nose” is crossing below the lower half of the bumper design, the mouth. Had they designed that grille so it would look like a “mouthpiece” and the side intakes into “dimples” or “cheeks”, it would be fine. Take a look at the toyota crown. Mahoosive front grille, but since it looks like “mouthpiece” (which encompass both “mouth” and “nose”), it looks alright.
Apparently for the M4/M3, BMW forgot what the concept of the “face”: eyes, nose, mouth, cheeks.
I think it gets prettier, the longer you look at it. I was the same as anyone else, I looked at the M4 like a son who walks in covered in poo. But then... we laugh and start kissing.
In a few years bmw is just going to be a grille, no engine, no seats, no wheels, just two massive grilles.

I have always said that the "problem" with the new gen, is that if you look at previous gens up to the F80s, they have always been really pretty cars that can go fast. this new one is not pretty, it looks aggressive and angry. I though I hated the looks of it, until I saw one in that deep blue gloss color and fell in love with it.
And then you also see the performance specially tuned x drive and you see they are a beast
look at it in pearl black and its like a widowmaker!
Yeah I also saw some irl and they are not as bad as in the pics. Something about going from 2d to 3d makes it. Same as with "stanced" cars: I like the looks in the pictures but in the wild they just look awkward and somehow wrong.
@@icanseeumad exactly! Although loving the F80 M3 with the comp package, the G80 in certain colors looks magnificent!
Highly disagree. This doesn’t look aggressive or angry
The last gen M3 and M4 had as many heat exchangers in the front. So saying it was required for cooling simply isn't true. Also you can clearly see the bumper crash structure splitting the grille area.
@ᴛᴀᴘ ᴍᴇ ᴀɴᴅ sᴇᴇ Lily Agree. I like the looks of all types of cars, but the front of this gen M3 and 4 is simply ugly to me. This seems to be a very common sentiment towards this design and BMW had heard the concerns well before the car's launch, and seemed not to care what their customers thought.
