if you select the turbo mode, then add custom profile, the fan curve on turbo mode will apply to custom profile. Same if you select first silent or balance mode then create custom profile. So you can go up to 30w in custom profile using turbo mode fan curve.
Why not run only GH then? I’m also not fan of having two apps for the same thing due to ram consumption and potential conflicts. Is it because with GH you can’t have keyboard shortcuts with the macro keys?
One problem i have with G Helper is that it seems like it's overwriting the deadzones. Which isn't a problem in Windows. But is with gaming. I want to be able to use the anti-deadzones for shooters but can't seem to be able to do so with G Helper.

Great video! I have one question though. Does the fan rpm affect battery that much? I don’t mind find noise in armoury crate but if I can save battery life I would.
Hey, I don't think frame generation is going to work as well on iGPU's like we have have in the 7840U's / Z1 Extreme. The main issue is just not having enough overhead/raw power to utilize it properly. I could be wrong (and hope I am), but I don't think it's something that will be of much use for current gen handhelds. I think VRR without FG will almost always provide a better experience, especially with the latency that's added with FG.
@@filt3rless It's been already tested on Ally and it works okay. No one promised crystal clear quality, you would get some artifacts in small details, but the motion is much smoother, getting from 40 to 60 fps is a game changer. I think this my favorite video by far! This is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks a million man, ur just amazing and analyzing and teaching :) A few questions please :) 1) armory crate is not installed for me. So when I install it now, I don’t need to worry about each game configuration, I just keep it on global performance mode and use G helper to change power modes yes? 2) the shortcuts of g helper only work on game pad mode, and when I switch to desktop mode it’ll use my joystick as mouse but i can’t use the short cuts for power changing and xbox right? what I plan to do is have my Ally auto login once I switch it on and run steam big picture automatically. This is the closest I can get to steam OS experience, then I can use armory crate button to get the interface to just select game pad mode and voila I can use xbox button and power mode changing while only on steam big picture; am I thinking right 🤣?
Thanks man! Glad the video helped :) And for your questions: 1. Yes, you can just install it and even completely ignore the game library side. Just open command center and make sure it's on Performance mode when plugged in and unplugged. 2. Yeah, to get the joystick click to change power settings and the xbox button you'll want to be in Gamepad mode. Auto mode is actually trying to use custom game profile mappings and will completely ignore anything you've setup in "Control Mode" which is for Gamepad mode. And when you're in Desktop mode it's a completely different set of controls so no shortcuts you set for Control Mode will work. But it gives you a nice set of controls for navigating around on the desktop. And that plan should work well, and it is really close to Steam OS that way. As long as you leave it in Gamepad mode, it should just stay there and you'd be good to go while using big picture 👍
Are you 100% sure the "apply custom fan curve" checkbox is for using Armory Crate's curves? My testing shows this is actually the box you need to tick to use GHelpers curves?
If you leave it unchecked it will use stock fan curves which is a lot quitter than a manual fan curves because that stupid mandatory 75% at 69c thing with manual fan curves
Even if you drop the G-Helper curves down to the lowest possible setting, it’ll still ramp the fans up. It’s definitely using the AC manual mode fan curves and is way quieter when unchecked.
If you close the armory crate services through ghelper will that stop the power plan being initiated theough acse? I been using ghelper for a while and always close the acse services
Yeah, if you disable the services it'll stop it from running. This was mainly just to show how you can use it and still have command center and the Armoury Crate features including custom game profiles. The only issue you could run into is if you dock the system and use an external controller. Some games will pickup the embedded controller and not let you use the external controller. That's where having the command center to quickly Disable Embedded Controller would come in handy.
@@filt3rless even with acse services disabled through ghelper, you can still access command center via hotkey. That was why I asked. Well that and controller/auto/desktop for the sticks still works the same as if acse wasn't disabled

I only use G-Helper on the Ally, my Asus G14 and Asus G15 laptops. I don't like Armoury Crate as it almost feels like bloatware with all the "extra" stuff. So yes you can 100% just use G-Helper :)
@filt3rless I've been using G-helper for a while and I like it. I think I could do better, but I don't know how to undervolt. I tried Armoury crate and myAsus for a week and it felt almost the same, but that was when plugged in. On battery, Armoury crate was using a lot more juice. I reverted to using G-helper again, great app.
I like the fan curve trick though I assume it’s the same as leaving HC on Performance and limiting TDP per game? Is there a way to have it switched to my 12W silent automatically (for Moonlight/Chiaki), if I stay on Performance (G-Helper Balanced) it’s on 17W, if you use AC’s Silent mode it’s not picking the 12W setting from GHelper
I haven't used HC much, but it sounds like it's doing the same thing. Essentially it's getting us the quieter fans no matter the watt level when using Silent / Balanced in G-Helper. Anything over 20W and I use Turbo in G-Helper for the more aggressive fan curve to keep temps down. You could create a custom profile in Armoury Crate called 12W. The last one to apply the power setting is the one that it'll use. So if you have G-Helper set to 17W / Balanced, as soon as you toggle an AC profile it overrides G-Helper. So even though it'll still show 17W in G-Helper, AC is the one it's using. Same goes if you're using any profile on Armoury Crate like Turbo. If you toggle a G-Helper profile it's now using G-Helper again regardless of what AC shows. It'll always use the last one toggled which is the main reason to have AC setup to use the same profile so it won't override G-Helper. What I'd recommend is setting up the shortcut like I showed in the video for quickly toggling profiles in G-Helper. Then you can just use G-Helper to quickly get to 12W. I'd imagine you can go even lower than 12W when running moonlight. Hope the info helps.
Hey, you can select eco which I sometimes have it on. However since there isn’t a dGPU it doesn’t do anything. The program was originally built for laptops which is why those options are there.

It looks like the VRM's, which control voltage and get pretty hot could have been the main cause. So over fan speed, lower power would be safer (even at lower fan speeds). This is a major issue with AC and Turbo mode as it goes up to 53 watts for 10 seconds, 43 watts for 2 minutes, causing things to really cook. So G-Helper let's you completely stop the boost and not hit 95c that happens in AC every time a game is launched. However, even with low power and max fans all the times I've heard of the SD Card reader failing still.
@@edvincentempron1346 Hey, glad it's working! Also as a small tip most options in the AMD control panel have to be enabled before starting a game for them to work. So if you wanted to try out RIS vs RSR or any other settings like Anti-Lag, V-Sync Always On, etc, you'd have to close out of the game each time, toggle the option, then open it back up. I personally like RIS the most and run it on all the time at 900p.
I did something even better, M1 is associated to ctrl shift F5 and will set the previous profile and M2 associated to ctrl shift alt F5 will set the next profile so it is much easier to switch between profiles now
I'm sure there is a way to go find the game files and delete them. However it's not something I tested. Depending on how AC is mapping to the game it could mess something up. I'm not saying it does, I just haven't tried it and an uninstall / re-install is a safe method that I know works.
@@filt3rless I'm actually having issues with some games showing like 24w when I set it to 13w in ghelper. I did what you said and kept it on Performance in AC in every game profile.
@@messiahmozgus Just to make sure you have it set to performance as well in command center? And for G-Helper, both the sliders will need to be the same as well as make sure the "Apply power limits" box is checked below those sliders. Then toggle G-Helper profiles to make sure it take effect.
I just want to go back to being able to access my command center and monitor my FPS and temperature while in game. I was able to do it just fine. Hey, there isn't anything I'd be willing to recommend like G-Helper out there. Hopefully Lenovo updates it to have better TDP control. They have been pushing frequent updates so I'd assume it'll keep getting better and better.
I personally avoid "best power efficiency" windows mode. It forces the display to turned off in a few minutes, and after a few more minutes you get logged out of windows and put to sleep. Causes havoc if you have apps running in the backgroud and putting the Ally to sleep has it's own problems. Also, you can't override this behavior, or at least I haven't found anything. This includes registry editing as well. Just a heads up if this applies to you.
Put them all in high performance, and disable cpu boost. Then there won't be an issue. Filterless is adamant that leaving cpu boost enabled is the right thing to do but it is unneccsasry.

@@filt3rless mine doesn't work even at 720p, coz i always use RIS for tipple A games.
@@filt3rless it works now, but need to turn on RIS first before running the game.
I did something even better, M1 is associated to ctrl shift F5 and will set the previous profile and M2 associated to ctrl shift alt F5 will set the next profile so it is much easier to switch between profiles now
Cant you just delete AC game profiles? The files are stored somewhere. I forget where. Shouldnt need a clean reinstall of AC...
@@filt3rless I sure did. I'm not new to AC or g helper. I guess I could do another clean install of AC.
I just want to go back to being able to access my command center and monitor my FPS and temperature while in game. I was able to do it just fine. I just recently bought my device not even 2 weeks ago and was able to do it even after updating just fine but open the device up today to find out that I can't do anything while playing a game. I'm willing to pay for someone to help me figure out what isn't functioning right or is, and preventing the screen overlay and button mapping. I should have to minimize my game to access command settings. Something major like this shouldn't take 6 months to resolve. Im just finding out that it's an issue that has persisted for 6 months and instead of fixing it as it is, thay have just added features 😂.
Anything like this with a legion go
Hey, there isn't anything I'd be willing to recommend like G-Helper out there.
Filterless is adamant that leaving cpu boost enabled is the right thing to do but it is unneccsasry.
i'll keep G-Helper for now and Armoury Disable Because i can disable dedicated GPU with one click on my G14
best video :)
I’m so sick of this console had a ton of problems since I bought it (I bought this month) trash battery and all this on Windows. and yesterday my right stick stopped working. I don’t really know what to do anymore with this console
Sucks for you. Mine has worked great since launch.
The thing is overheating as is, why would you want to have the fans to be quieter?
bring back the legion go. The problem with the dead zone has already been fixed. Without your videos there is nothing interesting about the legion on UA-cam.
That should tell you all you need to know about the Legion Go lol
Nice thing, but i rather stick with armory crate.
