I upgraded my ssd to 2tb, and yes, i agree with you it is pointless unless you have a big library of roms. I usually play two to four games at the same time, and you don't need 2tb ssd for that, even with big size ssd i usually play a game, finish it, uninstall it and download the new one. The 512 ssd will motivate you to finish the game and move to a new one.
I have a 2tb ssd installed and I filled it with games and I'm finding so far I'm playing a lot more games than I would've. Only I'm not finishing many as I keep hopping around. But I love the fact that I can jump between any game for whatever I'm in the mood for without having to download and install all the time. Also I had a bad experience with sleep mode. I have the jsaux case which I love but the top part covers the vent and my ally woke up without me knowing and cooked my baby for hours as I also had it on the charger so it wouldn't die. Turned it off and let it cool overnight. Somehow it's fine.
I came here to thank you for opening my eye and not having to upgrade the SSD and I am so happy to see so many people thank you for that opinion of yours. I have seen tons of videos about the Ally and you are the only one who made so much sense with that one point!! Thank you so much

I love your take on not upgrading the storage. The second I got mine last week I've been looking into upgrading storage to the max I can find. But I think you're right about the limitations almost being a feature, limiting your options just enough to encourage you playing games in the sea of infinite choice we have nowadays. I'll stick to base storage now, thanks for the advice! I love your personality, you seem super excited and passionate about the love of games, it absolutely rubs off on the viewer :)
The 42W gpu power consumption is real consumption from the SPPT and FPPT settings, the base clock is 30w but it can boost up to 53w when plugged in, you want to use a charger with PD 65w or above.
@@Geekceptionand one more thing to make it easier to get into hibernate, you can open the start/search bar and type in "power" and you should see an option called "edit power plan", click on it, in the opened window go up^ one folder, so back into "power options", on the left side you will see an option called "Choose what the power buttons do", from there you can set up the hibernate as default action for the power button instead of the default sleep mode.
Such a great video. All the points you made were fantastic. I literally just bought the device to play the PlayStation games that i haven't had access to in a few generations. I've been really impressed.
The point made on the storage and not chucking on so many games is perfect. It can get a bit intimidating having so many and you can end up accomplishing nothing

One of the tricks I want to share is to enable turbo mode (30/43/53) using jsaux 603 dock. I found a solution to flash latest bios (method available on jsaux blog) of the jsaux dock which unlocked the turbo mode using this dock with original Asus charger that comes with the Ally
5:19 totally agree with you. I have PC that installed with 4TB Storage exclusively for game only. And I’m barely touch any games because not only I have little free time but also exhausted from work. And to sit on my gaming chair too tiring for my back and neck 😂.
Great video! I have HellDivers 2, COD Warzone, God of War, X Defiant, Halo Infinite and Netflix on my 500gb. I play Halo and God of War when I’m offline and the rest when connected to WiFi. However, I recently was playing X Defiant off hotspot with no lag, so yeah. Great content and thanks for sharing!

I got 2tb because of sports games taking up soooo much room. 2k, fifa, madden are each almost 100gb. Then blaco ops 3 for zombies and that's almost the full ssd, so larger ssd makes me feel i can play anything at any time. Not constantly worried about moving files and storage running out so quickly
Hibernate. Change it in the settings. Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Power Options>Choose what the power buttons do>Change the power button from sleep to hibernate. Do note that it sometimes doesn't work on some games.

Good video. i watched the first video you did on the Asus. i like your positive energy i just have 2 questions . 1 is playnite safe ? I would like to install it and use it and 2 how do you update playnite if it gets updates
@@danielcobbledick3339 yeah 100 % recommended, I get 100-120 fps with 15W in multiplayer matches but in warzone I get around 80-90 fps with 15W, put if you want 120 fps in warzone get turbo mode 30W. Of course I downloaded FSR 3 AMD to get this high Frame rates. But the battery life is not good enough in the Rog Ally, you need to be connected to the charger all the time as I play in bed.
Honestly I always upgrade my drives to 2TB having a really slow internet connection or no internet at all where you live makes it a good option when you go visit friends or family that have a fast connection to just download a bunch of games. If you have a fast connection then just uninstall and reinstall as you need but if you constantly bounce around between 10 or 20 games it's worth the upgrade or just get a couple of 1TB micro sd cards if your card reader doesn't burn out...
I actually play more games with upgraded ssd. I’ve only upgraded it into 1TB tho, but hoping for 2TB in the future. I have xsx, switch, ps5, iPad Pro, gaming laptop, then rog ally. Rog ally is currently my favourite device. As you can imagine my game library is huge, so many games I haven’t played, or played but want to occasionally revisit it/show case to my friends. Rog Ally with huge capacity actually perfect for that. My main console is ps5, to play AAA with adaptive trigger experiences. So that means some games (if I buy it twice) or it is on game pass, I could revisit or play it again with different experiences on ROG. Then games, good but not my priority, I can put them on ROG to remind me, and if they’re really good needs my proper attention I can move onto other platforms (some with sharing progress) especially some cute/indie titles can be played on touchscreen, or some games that I can do cross platform when I’m at my friends’ (so I don’t have to bring laptop or other devices). Another reason is ROG ally is really good for showcasing, with the launcher you recommend, people are just interested and want to try out the games I have all the time. And last, I even use it to carry lots of my media files, and some of work files, including some of my favourite purchased series and movies, this way the 1T is really great for me to use it as a proper laptop 💻
I've just upgraded to 2TB SSD and i have to say, it's not about the games i play but more about peace of mind. When I had just 512GB I was always worried about running out of memory, a 1TB MicroSD is as expensive as a 2TB SSD so it totally made sense to me
One thing you failed to mention was in desktop mode you don't need to touch screen to click and right click. The right bumper is left click the right trigger is right click
My best tip is to return the prototype Ally and get the Ally X with a working SD card slot. Anyway great video, please do one on the Ally X when you get your hands on one.
@@eternalrewind2190 yeah, search brought up nothing for me too. I think it might be possible with those apps that allow for macros etc but i'm sure how to do that, yet
Another thing I'd add is that it's possible to have a streamlined experience without Windows. BazziteOs allows us to install SteamOs (as close as we currently can). It can even be dual booted alongside Windows for the best of both worlds. With less than 15 seconds to switch over.
out of curiousity though, why do you like SteamOS on the Ally? for me I'd say I find the freedom of windows more alluring but it'll be nice to hear your pov!
Actually I haven't tried it personally, because I don't want to give up the flexibility of playing modded games on steam, use any launcher and have full control of setup. And sadly it doesn't increase battery life either. I will try it once I get a new nvme next month or after though! Do you plan on trying it? Please I need help in Google has not helped me. I stupidly listen to some advice to turn off the touch screen because it kept going from gamepad to desktop mode. Turns out I wasn't touching the screen it happened anyways. But the device shut down and now I cannot get into the device and use it. How the heck can I get into windows so I can re-enable it? I searched for hours on UA-cam with absolutely nothing
I agree with the 2tb take I have a 2tb ssd and honestly it’s not really needed at all, I have tons so that’s why I have it but otherwise it’s much better to just download 4-5 games at a time that you know you’ll be playing
I would agree about the storage thing if it weren't for the fact that some of these games these days can eat up the better part of 200 GB sometimes. I just like to have the option to bounce between some of my favorite games even if some of them I'm not playing all that often
Well I just saw this video today and man they’re are some great tips. However, me being a maximist as well already went ahead and bought a 2280 8tb ssd so kinda over killed it on storage and I can agree about the whole game thing here😂 to many games so I’m to overwhelmed on what to play. And to make matters worst I also bought a 1.5 tb ssd San disk for it.
Is anyone else having trouble with EA not recognizing the built in controller or a stand alone? For some reason it will switch back and forth mid game. One moment it will show as an xbox style controller then randomly show as a mouse and keyboard. Makes racing games impossible. Go to turn left or right and itll look left and right while steering slightly.

yeah no that does not sound normal. what kind of sound is it?
@@GeekceptionWhen I put it on 10watt, there is a very faint sound that is not similar to a fan, but when you bring your ear closer you can hear it.
interesting. check the rogally subrreddit, I think that will be a good place to see if anybody else has this same issue
@@Geekceptionthank you 🌹
@@Switcher44 you're welcome fam!

I heard that they put a copper heat shield around the card Reader on the new baches. Maybe this solved the problem
I searched for hours on UA-cam with absolutely nothing
do you have access to a mouse and keyboard? i found this video that might help you ua-cam.com/video/Dchs75NrekU/v-deo.html

thanks fam!
I agree with the 2tb take I have a 2tb ssd and honestly it’s not really needed at all, I have tons so that’s why I have it but otherwise it’s much better to just download 4-5 games at a time that you know you’ll be playing
What ROG Ally Tips have you found out?
Hibernate one
nice tips and guide .. now i hv steam deck . .hope i can change to ally .. i see ally more better than deck
Ehh your channel is lit brotha
I would agree about the storage thing if it weren't for the fact that some of these games these days can eat up the better part of 200 GB sometimes. I just like to have the option to bounce between some of my favorite games even if some of them I'm not playing all that often
Loving your vibe bro, and I don’t even own a Ally 😂
hahahaha, things I love to see. thank you!
Well I just saw this video today and man they’re are some great tips. However, me being a maximist as well already went ahead and bought a 2280 8tb ssd so kinda over killed it on storage and I can agree about the whole game thing here😂 to many games so I’m to overwhelmed on what to play. And to make matters worst I also bought a 1.5 tb ssd San disk for it.
where's the link?

Thanks friend
you're most welcome
my playnite theme isn't working i not sure why do u know?
not sure how to help, sorry
It’s ok thank you
Is anyone else having trouble with EA not recognizing the built in controller or a stand alone? For some reason it will switch back and forth mid game. One moment it will show as an xbox style controller then randomly show as a mouse and keyboard. Makes racing games impossible. Go to turn left or right and itll look left and right while steering slightly.
that is strange indeed. I suggest you check the rogally subrreddit to see if other people have experienced this before
