The throttle may be harsh or too slow...

In this episode we're gonna see the Bafang Configuration Tool: what cable to use, which OS, which driver and how to use it the proper way.

Very useful information. I have a Code 30 (Communication Error) on my new BBS02 750/48 volt motor. We have thoroughly examined all connections for bad wiring or bent pins & now feel it is a Controller error. Is one of the settings in the program something I should be looking for or do you think the Controller is simply faulty? (I do not have the program cable or readings from the Controller yet.) Thank you.
hello, how low do the speed limit of the throthle handle go? is it possible to set it for 6km max speed?
Just installed BBS02b today. Default PAS settings are horrible for me personally. Put pedal assist to start really low powers(current%): 6, 9, 13, 19, 27, 38, 53, 73, 100, all at 100% speed limit.
Now just need to find 52V firmware for my 52V battery, 48V firmware installed currently. Hopefully I find correct one.
Time 6:48 u say that the current will push the motor untill it reaches the current limit. Can set it to reach it to reach miles per hour or km/h.
So after it reaches a set limit if current or speed the motor cuts off?
Is it the same for the throttle?
Is it possible to change your speed without having a throttle? If so, how can I do it in the program?

my cable is different than this because the connectors aredifferent. When i connected to the laptop, there are two lights, 1 is green and the other one is Red. It looks like it is not supported. what should you do? i saw the driver on device manager and they are properly installed

Hey. Is the programming cable connected to the monitor cable. I tried to disconnect that monitor cable but it's so hard stuck.. U seemed to be able to disconnected that cable very easily
it is a woterproof connector, so it's hard to unplug... just try harder, but hold it from the plastic sockets, not the wires

If ypur running it full blast it will get to hot and shut your bike down to prevent any permanent damage done
with this settings, is it possible to program my 250w bafang engine(rks engine) to 500w ? we have restricted in Turkey on this engine.
unfortunately this tool does not change the max watt output of the motor (like for the Tongsheng for instance)
it's just for reprogramming the various motor features
if you have the 250W version, that's not gonna change
this is a diffused misconception, in fact even if you can make a Bafang motor "quiter" with this tool, lowering current and speed for the ass. levels, this does not make the motor "legal" in places where it was not before...

How do you feel about the tongsheng motor after a while? From what I heard the tsdz2 is not as durable as the bbs02, do you second that?
I'm from Brazil, and here parts cost a lot (stupid taxes and undervalued currency) and are hard to find, so I was looking for a very durable build, that I would not need to rely on local sellers nor aliexpress too much. I don't care too much about performance, I'm looking for durability and quality, what do you recommend to a guy like me?

My builds are too young to allow a precise answer
The 500W Tongsheng build so far had more than 1000 km and I already bought the nylon gear replacement (it's the most common piece that needs to be replaced) but still no issues nor replacements so far
The 500W Bafang is near 2000 km while the 750W a few hundreds. Still no issues
Someone says Tongsheng is less durable, I don't know if it's true. What I can say is that the Tongsheng is used by my girlfriend by the city, while my Bafang builds have been stressed more off road, with higher speed, so I expect them to die first 😅
I'll let you know when I'll have more news on durability ✌️
Luke, I guess that the nylon gear is in a way a good indication of durability, at least is cheap and an easy replacement. Do you know about any common defects in the bbs01 or the bbs02?

Hello Juan, I have installed Bafang & Tongsheng motor kits & from my experience they both can be reliable or can be improved on. A lot has to do with who does the installation & how the rider uses the motor, changes gears or relies on the throttle only. Having dealt with both motor kits & customers with varying degrees of success I would suggest this - If you wish to have a more Moped like experience where the motor is doing most of the work then get the Bafang but if you prefer to have a more bicycle /hybrid experience than get the Tongsheng. The Bafang can have weak Controllers & the Tongsheng can blow through the Blue drive gear. Either kit can be reliable but those are the 2 main weak points.

Where is the torque tab? Seen it on other videos but not yours..what do you have to do to get the torque tab up?
There's no such a thing as a torque tab for BBS* series Bafang kit configuration tool.
I never worked with one before, but are you sure you're not referring to the Bafang Ultra configuration tool? That's a completely different topic
I keep losing connection after i click "Read Flash". Tabs get greyed out. 🤦♂️what could possibly cause that? Please help. Thanks.
I'm sorry I cannot troubleshoot your issue, but it can be anything from a failing usb port, to a broken cable, to a bended pin up to a problem on the motor's controller

I've noticed that my 48volt battery shows 92% charged when it's fresh off the charger. Is it possible that the BBS02 thinks I'm running a 52volt battery....48 and 52 are curiously 8% apart in voltage. Is there a setting to tell the controller which battery you have?

@@LukeLorusso hmmmm .....I don't remember seeing a calibration feature in the display menus.
@@XBKLYN I don't know much about your display, but what I know is that is its responsibility to calculate and show you the percentage.
The motor's controller will just either work or not, depending on min-max voltage settings.
That's why I'm pointing at the display. Can it be that yours is made only for 52v batteries?
@@LukeLorusso according to the specs it's a 36/48 volt-compatible display (BC351).....I see your point about the display's responsibility for interpreting the data that it's given so I'll look again into the menus for a voltage select option. Thank you.

@@roy1299 yeah, unless you make a modification replacing the controller with one from an old BBSXX: this would allow you to connect custom batteries and the regular set of display, sensors etc...
but at this point, I would simply go for a cheaper BBSXX 😅

Il motore raggiunge già la sua massima erogazione all'assistenza più elevata.
Riprogrammare il motore significa cambiare il suo comportamento, tipo tempo di reazione, differenza fra un'assistenza ed un'altra, intervallo d'azione dell'acceleratore...
non c'è un "massimo", ma innumerevoli configurazioni diverse!

Ciao, non ho una risposta: dipende da cosa vuoi ottenere: io ad esempio non ho toccato quei valori per nessuno dei miei motori Bafang, perchè credo siano correttamente impostati
@@LukeLorusso Vedo che tutti abbassano di un pochino quei valori per sicurezza, almeno sui motori da 500/750w per una durata maggiore della batteria, ora io non so' se sul 250w conviene farlo, magari faro' delle prove. Grazie
@@cippalippa5368 dunque, il Low Battery Protection, se l'obiettivo è aumentare la durata della batteria sul lungo periodo, andrebbe alzato; altrimenti abbassandolo si rischia di consumare la batteria più del suo minimo (e quindi di ridurre la sua durata di vita)...
Il Current Limit servirebbe a limitare il consumo in Ampere del motore (in realtà del controller, ma il risultato è quello).
Ora, pur comprendendone l'utilità, ritengo non necessario modificare questi valori su motori da 500 o 750W; ancor meno su uno da 250W.
Ovviamente, è nella libertà di ognuno fare ciò che si vuole, ma se vuoi il mio parere quelli li non li cambierei

Bafang are junk. They have a laughable 90 day warranty compared to a Rubee that has a two year warranty.
I have had no problems what so ever and they are super simple for any type of upkeep that needs to be done
