Beautiful bike and I'm so glad the reviews are mostly positive. Ordered my Trident at launch in silver ice / red... would have gone with the matte black but I was concerned over scuffs on the matte finish. Unfortunately it still being winter and being in Canada, I have to wait a few more weeks before delivery.
Good video! I picked up my bike last week and I agree with you on the suspension and throttle. I can confirm that the ride is firm and so is the seat but the handling is really good. The ride may become more compliant with time. As for the throttle, its perfect for me. Its not as jerky as some ride by wire throttles I've dealt with. The throttle allows for easy application in slow speed environments and has a nice roll on. I have fitted the triumph round bar ends for this bike and they work really well. They match the design of the round dash and headlight. I noticed that on the back of the mirrors, the housing has a ribbed surface. This ribbing at is also present on another rounded surface, the shock towers. This bike is very nicely designed and assembled. I'm still 'running in' my bike and I find it light, nimble, fast enough and easy to ride. This is without doubt the best motorcycling purchase I've ever made.
Fabulous video MB - not like the normal reviewers (one in particular YT'er who wobbles the handlebars and states the bike is 'flickable') you've covered all the angles in your usual style. Straightforward, thorough, engaging and informative. I've had a T120 since 2017 which I've modded to exactly where I want it and commute on it daily all year. Looking for a second bike for the winter commute and was tempted by the Tiger but now I've seen this ..... ?? Sincere thanks for making this and looking forward to future Trident vids.
Thanks Paul - either would make a good second bike to the T120. The Tiger 850 Sport looks like decent value, so demoing one of those and one of these might be a good starting point?
Motobob, are you in North Kent? I sometimes recognise some of the roads you ride on! If you fancy a ride out and comparison in the summer I'd be up for it. I have an '18 SV650.
I rode the trident the other day, rear suspension was a little choppy on certain roads surfaces, and the throttle response was so smooth and easy to use I couldn’t see an issue. Overall I found it to be pretty spot on in this price bracket. It’s a proper motorbike for riders all ages and temperament, if you get me, I appreciate it has the A2 license facility however it is so much more than a novice bike.... I really liked it... good update review Bob. Cheers.
I am guessing this bike is all about the corner ! Have a blast with it .. Less hp and using more of tha engine pulling the bike out of the corners just sounds like a blast to me .. I think this bike will be popular with a lot of seasoned riders who don't need 120 hp to have some fun .. Triumph knows how to define the word Roadster ... Over and over again, they bringing smiles to the open country road ..
True, we don't need 120 hp to have fun. I also don't need horrid copycat styling, 4 feet of clearance between the top of the rear tire and the bottom of the rear fender, a passenger perch with 8 feet of ground clearance, and as Mr. Perry mentioned "that awful swinging reg plate contraption:". A great engine and rolling chassis mated to putrid styling. I already have one of those - a second gen SV650.
Mt07 / xsr700 vs trident. They came out with a cool app here in the states to rent motorcycles from different owners in the surrounding area. Most bikes range from 40-70 bucks a day which is not bad at all.
It looks like the front exhaust downpipe has been blasted with road grit due to the short front guard, that doesn't look good for the life of the radiator!
There is a lowering kit now lowers it 20mm at rear & front is adjusted down 15mm for shorter riders.Tiger comes with a 20mm lower comfort seat but stock seat is higher at 830mm.
Running in: I kept it @ 4000 till 480kms, from then on 5000, but the saddle's off to my seat specialist for uprating - more support & 2 cm higher. First service round same time as you..... Being 1m70 & 73 kg I've put the preload up to click nr 3. C u around keep on safe (T)riding.....

I made a 20-mile test trip today, and the rear suspension is simply bad. Shame cause all the rest is spot on. Buying the bike to spend another £500 for the proper suspension is not a good thing

@@edmondgrieve4393 I have to give you two thumbs up. I loved my Speed Triple. I also really liked my SV 650. Give me the low end torque and power for a suburban ride and I'm happy : )
Tec bike parts seem to be thinking up some nice options, the number plate and light options at rear, and perhaps storage options ...and even a pillion delete: cowling

you did a great video where you compared Triumph Street Twin to speed twin, we loved it. we hope you do a comparison of Street Twin to the trident. thanks
Big choice to make regarding exhaust. Euro 5 has rendered 99% of stock exhausts as dyson’s.. its either warranty, or full sound experience. I know what id do
If it were mine, I would pop off the radiator side covers and spray them a dark charcoal grey in a satin finish. Otherwise it’s a great looking bike. Congratulations.
Hey when you compare your street twin with the trident, can you show us how the headlights perform in the dark? Curious to see how the trident LED setup fairs to the after market unit on your street twin.
I think SW Motech will figure out soon how to mount their SLC carrier onto this model.. The Legend Gear panniers are super cool especially on the Triumph classics
@@aunoates6617 there's nothing to support them though, so they'd be swinging around. and the tail is short so there's not much for them to grip onto. that said there are some accessory pillion rails so presumably there will be somewhere to mount some saddlebag supports if somebody fancies making them

Nice informative vid. What i don’t get is why is the usb charger under the seat? Doesn’t make sense to me... When I use my phone as satnav on my bike, I can charge it at the same time up front...
Yeah the Tiger 900 is better as it has a box to stash your phone in whilst connected to the dash for nav etc. but with this I guess you'd run a cable under the tank up to the bars? I mainly got it because it can be useful if you're out filming and a camera or something dies.
I get to borrow plenty of more powerful bikes, but there’s barely anywhere in the uk you can genuinely use them. As they say, it’s more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow

Great bike, great video. I’m thinking about getting one as a second bike to commute on & do weekend trips up to 200miles. Could you confirm the tank range over real world riding & not just spanking it everywhere? Cheers.
In general, do you prefer riding with a pack-sack or is it worth having seat luggage? I have a laptop and other crap I need to bring to work every day. Just wondering everyone's thoughts.
I'll take my Trident tomorrow. I took only the passenger handlebar ( I use the bike daily to bring my sons to school) and TPMS system because I think it is a good safety feature in discovering flat tyres. I really can't find a point in quick shifter and Bluetooth module. I never used a quick shifter equipped bike so I could be wrong but it seems to me quite useless in this type of bike where you don't search for a last second brake before a curve or shift gear in milliseconds. Talking about the Bluetooth module I think it could be quite distracting and offer nothing more of what you can do with an intercom. What you think about it?
Seems like lead times for delivery of this and other motorbikes is really crazy at the moment sadly. A friend cancelled his order for a new bike as basically he needed a bike to get to work and opted for second hand from same dealer. Tridents are very popular but seem worth waiting for if you have another bike to run in meantime
Is there enough of a sub frame to fit a Givi 56 litre top box with rack mount as I have on my CB500F at present. I've had a lot of large capacity bikes but I don't do any long distance rides anymore. Day trips and around town as a bike is better in peak hour and for parking. Plenty of power for my current needs. I've fitted a small after market bikini fairing for wind protection on freeway, wouldn't be without it. Lastly I have to wear glasses so I need a full-face with a swing up chin/visor section. I'm currently using an AGV carbon fibre helmet - expensive.
@@motobob Shame about that. Very hard to live without a top box as a storage place for shopping and helmet. Saves me having to lug the helmet around where it gets scrated. Triumph 800, CB500X, Tenere.
Not sure how much this will be requested but I'd love to see a comparison to the gsx s750. I'm trying to find my best option for a naked sport below 750cc (so I don't get bumped up to the next insurance class)
It’s so true about the Ground clearance!! I live in the Darjeeling Himalayas . One of the most remote parts of India. I used go have and Enfield and a Yamaha R3 and they did Ok. My ex Triumph street Triple and my present bike Ninja 1000 SX… it’s horrendous.. i always seem to scrape the big bumps and the pot holes :).
Can you get Triumph ECUs remapped ? I thought they were a bit secretive about their ECUs. Yeah there's Power Commander or something like that, but they're not cheap.
Yeah I'm looking into this too (for a potential speed 1200). I think they can be with tuneEcu, but not totally sure yet. I got my mt07 tuned through Woolwich racing software (by s-tec performance). Just don't fall for the invisible hilltop software I would say!
I love everything about the bike so far except the exhaust note. Feels anemic, but maybe it'll grow on me. So far, how does it feel around town-and perhaps for short jaunts outside-compared to the Honda CB650R naked?
Sir i want to buy my first bigbike but i need to choose one kawasaki zx6r or Triumph trident 660. Any suggestions? Head turner and good looking put in your criteria😅 which better? Hope you answer my question.thx😁
Yes trident nice display, traction control, triple exhaust and good look But i bought mt07 because of reliability and cp2 For me traction control are not necessary for this range of bike and triple exhaust better than two exhaust but cannot compare to cp2 Lastly, i cannot imaging if i want to install side box and top box for trident Sorry for bad english 😅
Looks great. I’m getting mine next week. Are those the Machined Bar End Mirrors? I thought they were round and smaller. I’ve ordered mine with the Style Pack so hoping I get the smaller round ones. Congrats on the new bike👍
Appreciate the review - that would of been the colour I would of gone for with the big logo incl the bar end mirrors - at the start or the year it's was a toss up between the triumph trident and Moto Guzzi V7 Centenario which i'm still deciding on - as i'm a bit of a show off the Moto Guzzi edges it for me - nevertheless i'm looking to test ride the trident v.soon which may sway my decision further who knows.
Thanks for the review. I'd love to see a comparison with the CB650R !! I will but a motorbike in the coming months and I'm really in balance between both at the moment.... your opinion would be a great help !
How well does the head light work at night? Coming from a 2019 MT-03, low beam is ok, but when you need high beam, there almost no light in front of the bike making it almost useless
I rode one home from work 30+ miles including unlit country lanes and the headlight was better than my 1200 scrambler. I’m 6’2” and thought the bike was exceptional value for money. Plenty of power, filtering was a doddle, quick away from the traffic lights. A bit windy at motorway speeds, but a real winner I think.
Congratulation ! Look forward to your future videos on your Trident. Question, what tires are you running on your Street Twin nowadays. I have a 2017 Street Cup and looking for new tires. Stay healthy and ride safe
Rob, what’s your thoughts on the rear mudguard/hugger? Looks like bad weather will cause lots of spray on the rear light/tail area? Lovely looking and congrats on the new bike. Hope it does well for you..p.s. George at Tecbike parts is fitting some adjustable levers on their Trident
I reckon the coverage will be as good if not better than a regular tail section like the street triple? The hugger is super close to the wheel and fairly lengthy. I’ll need to do a test when it’s wet...
Not sure if you still check the messages on older videos. I have a Trident, and potentially can exchange it straight across for a 2017 Street Twin. Even though these are very different bikes, do you find after owning both that you tend to favor riding one over the other?
It looks great MB, cant wait to see more and hear what your longer term views on it are. Hope to see ya out and about sometime soon. (Lockdown permitting of course)
There seems to be loads of warning transfers on the top of the tank. I think they look really unsightly. (Check them out at 5.22 in the video). Is it possible to remove them easily?
It's been almost 6 months now after getting your new trident. Any updates on your thoughts about the bike, fuel efficiency, maintenance, reliability, issues?
Love the stock underbelly exhaust. I hate huge mufflers slapped on the side of bikes
Congratulations on the new bike . Nothing beats that “New Bike” feeling 👍

Nah I doubt it'll take a rack to be honest, but you never know what will be available aftermarket
A few others have mentioned it. Looks like incredible value for a quick bike. I'll try to get out on one!
Congrats!!
Being a little older than you, peg position matters. How do the hip and knee positions compare to an MT07, more or less cramped?
Pretty similar, and TEC bike parts mate some adjustable pegs so you can drop them a bit further if needs be
@@motobob cheers. Yeah, I've seen the vid. I'm ok if they're no higher. Need a test ride 😬
I’d love a comparison with the street twin 😄
Will do!
I agree! I’m trying to decide between the street twin and the Trident.
Beautiful bike!
It would be good to see a comparison against a 675 street triple rather than a 765
It’s so true about the Ground clearance!!
The only real question is, when can I pop over and have a quick zoom?
A bike that's still available new and similar in price is the KTM 790 Duke.
A comparison that people are yet to mention.
Just put my name down on the waiting list can't wait perfect bike
Can you get Triumph ECUs remapped ? I thought they were a bit secretive about their ECUs. Yeah there's Power Commander or something like that, but they're not cheap.
Sorry yeah that’s what I meant. Would be an expensive job all round.
Yeah I'm looking into this too (for a potential speed 1200). I think they can be with tuneEcu, but not totally sure yet. I got my mt07 tuned through Woolwich racing software (by s-tec performance). Just don't fall for the invisible hilltop software I would say!
Actually I just checked, and tuneEcu do support the Trident 660, so you just need to find a shop who can remap for you, like cjs racing or similar...
Would make good UA-cam content for sure!
I love everything about the bike so far except the exhaust note. Feels anemic, but maybe it'll grow on me.
So far, how does it feel around town-and perhaps for short jaunts outside-compared to the Honda CB650R naked?
More torque than the Honda for sure. And a little lighter on its feet.
Sir i want to buy my first bigbike but i need to choose one kawasaki zx6r or Triumph trident 660. Any suggestions? Head turner and good looking put in your criteria😅 which better? Hope you answer my question.thx😁
Yes trident nice display, traction control, triple exhaust and good look
But i bought mt07 because of reliability and cp2
For me traction control are not necessary for this range of bike and triple exhaust better than two exhaust but cannot compare to cp2
Lastly, i cannot imaging if i want to install side box and top box for trident
Sorry for bad english 😅
No worries about bad English, you're well understand with what you wrote, mate :-)!
Would appreciate a comparison with the Speed Twin if possible.
Speed twin and this. I booked for life
Yeah I feel like swapping my Street Twin for a 1200 Scrambler would be my ultimate garage!
Good day sir. Can you make a comparison with the xsr700 ride safe always!
For sure it's on my list!
Looks great. I’m getting mine next week. Are those the Machined Bar End Mirrors? I thought they were round and smaller. I’ve ordered mine with the Style Pack so hoping I get the smaller round ones. Congrats on the new bike👍
No they’re off the street triple
At 4:55 is that exhaust already dented?? Center header
Nah mate see 10:30 it’s just where it bends and casts a harsh shadow in that light
Aprilia Tuono RS660 comparison to this would be a good video...
True! I’ll try to get hold of one
@@motobob Well if you need a Street Triple 765RS to compare with just ask mate...👌
@@Dius765RS MCN gave a huge thumbs up for the 765 over the Aprilia 660, and the Aprilia is going to murder the Trident, so ...
That’s a very nice bike too. I’d say it has the wow factor in that finish, whereas the Trident is a more engaging ride
I’ll give it a try soon
I rode one home from work 30+ miles including unlit country lanes and the headlight was better than my 1200 scrambler. I’m 6’2” and thought the bike was exceptional value for money. Plenty of power, filtering was a doddle, quick away from the traffic lights. A bit windy at motorway speeds, but a real winner I think.
Congratulation ! Look forward to your future videos on your Trident. Question, what tires are you running on your Street Twin nowadays. I have a 2017 Street Cup and looking for new tires.
Stay healthy and ride safe
Hey, what is that security bar you dropped down in front of the bikes before closing the garage? that's pretty clever.
Image4 Guardsman - link in the description!
@@motobob Cheers! That will work a fair bit better than my Master combination lock and wooden garage door!
Like it! Nice bike, might be my first after dirt...
Excellent video! What backpack, in the video, are you using? Please share a link. Keep up the fantastic reviews!!
Not sure if you still check the messages on older videos. I have a Trident, and potentially can exchange it straight across for a 2017 Street Twin. Even though these are very different bikes, do you find after owning both that you tend to favor riding one over the other?
Great commuter/daily 👌🏿👌🏿
It looks great MB, cant wait to see more and hear what your longer term views on it are.
Hope to see ya out and about sometime soon. (Lockdown permitting of course)
Cheers Gary!
G'Day Bob, hope you enjoy the new Trident. Very interested to hear what you have to say about it against the Street Twin when you get a chance.
60mpg possible on the motorway at 70. No faults at all
@@motobob That's pretty good! And thanks for the quick response! Cheers mate!
Comparison against CB650R please!
Will do as soon as I can!
