Mate I won't lie I wasn't massively sold on the looks of the Trident when it first released, but seeing yours in black and with a bit of work done has really changed my mind. The bike looks absolutely LUSH with even just what you've done so far. Brilliant.
I really like this bike. I can see why you bought it. I bet the engine is really tractable. The quick shifter is the only mod I would want. Along with the protective film for the dash. That's a great idea for a tenner.
Looking forward to seeing maintenance costs and reliability over time. Never really been into Triumphs, but, this and the Tiger 660 are very appealing prospects (read: seems like Triumph has done their marketing homework).
Loving your Trident videos - had mine for a week, same colour and same extras as you apart from the mirrors. The Quickshifter is a lovely piece of kit, heated grips are good, comms for the Sat Nav and USB. I liked your idea of blacking out the white backing on the number plate, did that this morning and I'm looking at the bolts for the passenger peg removal now. Thanks and keep up the great work! A few more miles to go and I'll be run in... Edit: I've also fitted the TEC levers today, great service from the boys & girls in the North. Two days to arrive, less than 30 cautious minutes to fit. Very good quality and big improvement to functionality!
Mirror protector:✔️, I'm using round bar-end mirrors, just got the seat uprated with better foam underpinning & neat lining/sewing. Definitely great run-thru, ta Bob🤙😊👍
Thanks for the mention on the dash protector AND the coupon code! I was pretty worried about finding a dash protector and I couldn't find one in the states. Just order a couple today. Great video, THANK YOU!
Great video! Your product descriptions are very informative. If I may make one suggestion? Back in my motocross days when riding in adverse weather conditions. I would wrap the brake/clutch levers with medium/heavy grit skateboard tape. Not only will this enhance riding ability, It’ll also cover up those cheesy logos. Thanks, and happy riding!!
I ordered mine with a non-refunable $750 deposit here in 'Merica. It will arrive at the end of April. After break in I am going to get rid of those pillon pegs as you did Mr. Moto Robert. Looks so much cleaner. I ordered Sapphire Black and I am going to the dealer tomorrow to see one in that color that they are delivering this weekend. Bloody Hell !!! I will put some vinyl tape under the seat to help keep the chit off of the underside. Should be a fun, little coffee house runner for me.
Thank you. I tried to find the size for the mirror plugs everywhere. I am really glad you talked about the size and the fact that they are both clockwise!
Thanks for the info MotoBob and I think the mirrors will have to be a must buy. I bought the Trident with the red radiator guards which I couldn't live with so I painted them a Matt black along with the 2 x exhaust covers and I am now so happy with the look of the bike. I would add a photo to this comment but I do not know how.
You nailed the mods, I'm with you on all of them. Also that matte black looks so good. It would be nice if the my triumph app used the stock Google maps to get some of the built in functionality. It's only software, so it's just an upgrade away if triumph ever want to make it happen.
Got my Speedo angels tft screen cover and a tank protector too. Excellent products clear instructions ,comes with all the cloths squeegy blade etc . went on easy and the tank one is almost invisible so doesn't spoil the look of the tank. thanks for the recommendation.
Put a deposit on a trident this morning. Really exited to go ride it. Been looking for one for nearly a year now. These mods are all sounding pretty cool. I come from cruisers where even the standard equipment here would be extra or unavailable. I might have to check out that bluetooth connectivity option and quick shifter
Still waiting for mine to arrive in Greece. Silver paint scheme. Thanks for the Monimoto idea. I’ve bought one and thought it wouldn’t fit under there. Great video as always.
Found the heated grips to be excellent. Much cleaner look than having Oxford grips and the control unit, they get pretty hot I only been able to use it on lowest setting . Like how it comes up on dash too
Just subbed. Ordered tft screen cover and a tank protector as the triumph one is big thick and expensive . Thanks for the link. Those blanking plugs are bit pricey.
@@4RMS7TRONG yeah but it don’t want a 500lb+ bike that costs over $15k 🤦♂️, and I want something sporty. a small windscreen on naked bike is just enough to help with short highway travel
@@4RMS7TRONG they make them for literally every naked bike for a reason. Not to mention a $40-$100 windscreen is waaaay cheaper than upgrading to a tourer
Send a message to Powerbronze and see what they have planned. I got their small screen for the Street Triple, subtle and unobtrusive, but just gives you that bit of extra protection.
I’m very tempted to buying one of these. And I was going to go for the same colour scheme 😂. I’ve seen some negatives about the Bluetooth connectivity, might take a trip to the dealers and see if they can show it to me working.
Bluetooth works fine for me if you follow the connection instructions properly. Had a few messages from other owners who had problems but tried my fix and it worked :) You have to pair from the bike to the phone and wait for the pairing message to pop up on your phone. Connecting from your phone to the bike in bluetooth settings seems to cause problems
Nice review, nice subtle changes. I love to get away from all tech when I get on my bike - too many distractions. All the shit that is in my car, I definitely don’t want on a bike. I just want to ride - definitely not answer phones or listen to music. Isn’t that why you have good sounding pipes
It took me ages to find the blanking plugs for the 'old' mirror sockets but I did eventually. They're by Evermoto. M10 Blanking Plug. (I'm sure other manufacturers/distributor do them, but these are the ones I found if anyone else is struggling to find them.
Thanks for this video. Very good! New subscriber here. I ordered one of these almost as soon as they began taking orders. Sadly, thanks to the pandemic, I now have no idea when I can take my training and tests. As a result, I’ve cancelled it. It’s senseless having it sat there for months when I can’t ride it. But I will certainly revisit once I can get some test dates later this year. I went for the same factory accessories as you, except the quick shifter. I was thinking of adding that afterwards. I also added the flyscreen, as it tidies up the back of the clock.
Three things i would change, Proper rear mudguard ,Triumphs now throw crud everywhere instead of oil. Proper front mudguard {not long enough}. Plus get rid of the scaffolding for rear pegs {seen you done that}.
This Triumph looks great , so much more like the original Steet Triple. Only thing is the single headlight ,is there a conversion kit to twin round headlights. 😎👍

Nice description of your add-ons so far Bob. The quickshifter and heated grips are in my view the most desirable of the higher priced extras which I'd definitely spec if I was buying a Trident. I find the Triumph heated grips perfectly adequate, they're the same as I have on the Speedmaster and on a Tiger 900 before that. One thing that several people have mentioned which I find a bit odd - luggage. Clearly the Trident is not designed as a tourer or luggage carrier and even if fittings are available from Triumph or aftermarket, surely it would ruin the appearance of this great looking bike. Why would you buy a Trident if you need to carry a lot of stuff for touring or whatever? Similarly for pillions. There are far better bikes for these purposes from Triumph or other makes.
Honestly I don’t get it either. I’ve had so many comments saying “will it take a windscreen?” or top box or saddle bags. It’s just the worst choice of bike for that sort of thing! Tiger 850 Sport would be a much better bet if you’re trying to keep it fairly cheap but want to tour.
Amazing video really hope i can get one of these for myself (with similar mods tbh). Now i know we have seen this bike before and there are pictures everywhere but i think i would be a bit better if we could see something like before and after the mods in the video(just a quick photo etc).
