Karyn killed it with the Running Man, Roger Rabbit, The Alf, and all the other cool dances of the 80’s. Dancing has to be the secret to the fountain of youth. I saw her show a few weeks ago and she looks and sounds great.
Dude.... Y'all need to stop throwing the word "underrated" out like if people don't know or respect these artists. Karyn was one of the IT girls of her time. NOBODY underrated her. Just because she isn't Whitney or Mariah doesn't make her underrated. And no, Janet and Karyn are not the same so go somewhere with that "two words" nonsense.
@@JudyGurlThat is the per usual analysis on it, but it really is "The Sophomore." She left Face and Reid for Jam and Lewis to ride the tail end of the Rhythm Nation wave....which subsequently gave time to devote to another budding young songstress....named Toni Braxton. Karyn was an in-between' (what I call-Not quite Whitney, but definitely better than Janet). She could have competed with them if she kept the consistent formula. It's never a good idea to change your sound so abrupt after only one album. Michael struck gold with Off the Wall, he didn't take that risk on Thriller. Face and Reid constructed the blueprint of Bobby Brown and Karyn White in 88.' If you listen to Don't Be Cruel' and Karyn White' back to back, you will notice they likely were recorded around the same time. Both of those projects were their biggest success.
This was a top 6 smash back in '88 and #1 on the dance charts. Still gets fairly good air time on the R&B/old school stations. Still has the beats to make you dance 18 years later. :)
I love this song.. hell i love all her music.. she is one of the best.. i wish she would come back out wit an album.... i know all the words to every song she has...... me, my sister and my cousins used to jam to this song at sleep overs..
I heard this on the radio today almost stopped my car and started dancing int he street! Lol. I was like 2 when this was released..but I remember the song so vividly!
my first concert in the the states was Karyn White, Levert and EU. Wow, this brings back memories. I used to sing this song in my basement and had my own video, lol! Big ups to the old school music...
Damn this cut reminds me of being stationed at ft.ord california back in 1988. My roommate from virginia would have his stereo system blasting in the room with this cut on as we were getting suited & booted to hit the club. Man those were the days. Music back then had so much substance, creativity, passion, soul, vibe, funk ect. I just don't see or hear any of this in today's music. I know times change & so do people, but we old schoolers know there is a BIG difference. I wish we can all go back.
I love this song!!! I dedicated this to my secret crush back in the day, he never knew it. I even made up a dance routine for it, I just knew that I was going to perform it in a show at school. My cuz makes fun of me everytime this songs come on. Ahhh the memories!
Instant Crush !!!!! She was/is HOTTTTT !!!!! She goes in...The Roger Rabbit, The Whap, The Running man..etc all in those high heel boots !!!!!! Thats talent !!!!
My thoughts Exactly Samson!!! And she does her own version of Janet Jackson's infamous "Miss You Much" chair dance. Karyn is so underrated. I had an instant crush on her with this song. I was 12 years old back then!! Jammin!!!
man i love karyn white;; i wish she'd come out with another album. so underrated., i could cry. that's okay i'm still a HUGE fan of hers and i know all of her songs though i'm 17;; i'd choose old school R&B over today's R&B anyday.
I LIVE (forget "love" ...LOL!) for Karyn White! She started from the bottom...and TURNT HER WAY TO THE TOP! She is one of the BEST R&B singers of her time!
Some of these artists should be featured in a 'where are they now' documentary....thanks for sharing KarynWhite and I hope all is well with you wherever you are!
Artists like this never get any recognition for their work as African-Americans and Africans far and wide we need to start supporting our brothers and sisters in the music industry along with the superhero industry as well like marvel comic and DC comic 💪
I had no idea she was this beautiful; now I can't stop watching the video. They were all killing it! lol Song is good, too--I heard it on a '80s Throwback mix' on Radio a while ago and didn't know who sang it.
Big time! Most so-called "artists" today couldn't hold a candle to the great artists of the 80s and 90s! Sooooo glad this was during my time. Good ol' days for sure!
I used to rock to this so hard! I had to be in or right outta High School 89 or early 90s first hearing this but was a jam for a long time! Wow where did the years go and this is still ❤🔥When I saw it, I clicked so fast and still new every single word!❤🔥❤🔥

This was the very first music video whose dance moves I tried to imitate at the age of 11. LOL I tried to dress fancy too. :-) Oh wow, this one really brings back such fun memories! I really began to admire Karyn White musically from that point on and I have to say her 1989 songs were just as good as those from her follow-up album in 1991. This was one of the earliest Karyn White songs though I really liked. :-) #KARYNWHITESECRETRENDEZVOUS
desde los 90's que la escuche ,nunca supe quien la cantaba..... hasta el dia de hoy, que por pura casualidad la encontre. por largos anos la tuve en mi mente, una pequena tonadita

As horrible as things are now, I am so damn fortunate to have lived through the entire 80s. Funny thing, I knew back then the time was pretty special.
my first concert in the the states was Karyn White, Levert and EU. Wow, this brings back memories. I used to sing this song in my basement and had my own video, lol! Big ups to the old school music...
I so luv Miss White. This diva made you feel good and had a message and fun in her music. I pray all the time that good music like this comes back.
I love the line of synthesizers! What a fun and purely joyful road trip back to the 1980s. That video just made my day.
I love, love, LOVED this song when it was popular! I think it reached like #6 on the pop charts... Where is Karyn White now??? A great talent!!!!
Saw her in concert 11/192023 in City Winery Atlanta. Still beautiful and preformed a high energy show.
Busting out 80's dance moves so fun. She was great.
