@ATLSTLCurls Yeah, just have some fun,it costs you nothing and cheers other people up also.I remember once at a subway store I started dancing to Michael Jackson's-BAD-song when it came over the radio. LOL. The clerks working there were laughing and smiling.
Yup, You actually had to go OUT with your friends to socialize and go to the record and video stores to get your media. The only people I knew with car-phones were Real Estate agents (my friend's dad) LOL. Fun times. Listening to all this great music takes me back to those times. Half a century old now but no regrets.
💃That body and that voice. Sheena Easton is a true talent. Noticed that no one in this music video has no plastic surgery, no lip injections, no Brazilian butt lifts🍑no over the top breast implants. The 1980’s it was a magical time in pop culture and in music.
Top Scottish Girl, From my Hometown and born same month/Hospital as myself, Definitely the Greatest Talent to come from. Bellshill, She is that Good even the Legend Prince wrote music for Her
The pop girls in 1988-1990 were not playing around they were all in top peak form. Sheena, Madonna, Janet, Whitney, Mariah, Paula, Martika, Tiffany , Debbie, and icons like Donna Summer, Cher and Tina having huge hits as well. It must have been a glorious time to be alive.
Sheena, you are always amazing! I miss this era of music - back then, everything you heard on the radio was something you liked ❤❤😊😊 Much love to you Sheena!
People who weren't alive or were too old to enjoy this music, will never understand cruising around town with their significant other at night without a care in the world! Music has always been and will always be the ultimate escape!! Cherish it!!
My mom was sort of in the too old category but she had a very youthful spirit and she loved cleaning the house to this type of music and she loved to dance ,every now and then she would listen to rap like L Cool J at the time.
Classic Babyface and LA Reid production and a big hit for Sheena on both pop and RnB charts. She completely changed her image and sound from lite rock pop ballads to funky pop RnB while her baby went from riding the morning train to being invited inside of her sugar walls.
I almost mistakenly thought that Teena Marie sang this. Sheena Easton’s voice is that good. This song cropped up on my playlist at work a couple of nights ago. It reminded me of how blessed I was as a kid growing up in the 80’s.
When I hear these songs again, it makes me sad. I think about all the songs and people who around / alive back then compared with what’s around now (who weren’t even alive back then). I much prefer the songs and people of that time. I miss those days. Take me back.
I saw Ms. Easton in Paso Robles, Ca. in 1989!! I was 14. Everyone was leaving the fair\concert so I went front row and she sang this song to me!! Twas amazing...🥰
This is why you have UA-cam general....Listen to the song a million times. If pleases you....A couple of times in a decade is good enough.for me....Rock n Roll
One of the first songs written and produced by LaFace Records co-founders Babyface and L.A. Reid. However, the "shoo-bee-doo-wop" backing vocals seemed a bit dated by 1989.
Went to see the great Miss Sheena Easton at Morongo Casino last night and just discovered this song, OMG I've been missing out. My favorite song right now.
Talk about hitting a home run! Easton's vocal here is throaty, rich and passionate! Combine that with a slick recording job and some hot playing, and you've got yourself a classic. Simply fantastic!
+Frank Johansen I think this is when Artist formerly known as Prince took her under his wing and turned her into a mermaid!I remember the first time I saw this video...I was mesmerized. It took me a while to connect her with her fist phase 20 years later when I saw her on YT.
There were so many hot pop/R&B singers in that era… Sheena Easton, Jody Watley, Karyn White… the list goes on…. It was just an overload of sultry, talented women in that era…
What a great time for Soul, Pop, and Rock music, especially for avid music lovers. The ethnic/racial diversity of artists that just made good music across all urban/popular music platforms during this period was so refreshing.
She had EXCEPTIONAL vocal ability, her live singing is the same as recorded. I loved this whole album, the LA & Babyface formula worked for everyone they touched & pulled out a persons best,!❤❤❤
This song was the her comeback song of her career. This song came out in 1989and had not had a solo hit on the charts since 1986.( Do it for love). She was credited on Prince , You got the look in 1987.
Have you checked out her Disco cover songs album yet? Fabulous? She sings covers of songs by Thelma Houston, Donna Summer, Diana Ross, etc. It was finally released in the US as a digital album in August 2021. It was only available as an import CD before. I was thrilled when I found out that I could buy it.
@@rainymoon9848 Remember the publicity for the project as a TV documentary was shown in conjunction in promotion but unfortunately didn't provide that deserved comeback hit it should've done though some radio and clubs supported it

My 3 favorites female pop songs from 1989 ‘Straight Up’ by Paula Abdul, ‘This Time I know It’s for Real’ by Donna Summer & of course ‘The Lover in Me’ by the lovely Sheena Easton sadly her last huge hit!!!

Female artists in the 80s knew how to be sexy without being raunchy and self demeaning.
Folks, this is what a 10 looks like!
to all my Gen-X brothers sisters, we lived through the greatest decade.
I’m with ya on that.
Hell yes we did, being a teen back then was nothing short of awesome 💪💪👍👍

She was doing commercial spots for Jack Lalaine Gyms at the time, too.
No tats, or piercings in her face either.

That woman could sing and this song was amazing.
I heard this playing in a store while shopping and had to listen to it today. Still a great song and a video!
Man...That girl was on FIRE.

Yup the 80s were fantastic!
Man she looks so beautiful in this video especially with the red dress and red hair I do miss the 80's.

Je ne connaissais pas Sheena. En France, c'est une artiste marginale. Incompréhensible !!
Ooh! Sheena Easton - there's only one Sheena Easton. Good God.
Babyface killed the production on this song, the start of his 90s hits runs

I could definitely hear Karyn White in the background!!! ❤
What a gorgeous woman! Miss those 80s.
I have this on 45. Back when you could but five singles and they were all different genres.
Id die for those earrings! Short dress, but she pulls it off beautifully.
It's a terrible shame this song isn't played more these days in the great canon of 80s bops!

Billboard's #41 hit of '89. Sheena hit #2 pop, #5 soul, in Billboard. Love her long, curly hair, right, gang? God bless!
