      He already has one in the AHL, while playing for the Chicago Wolves he got an assist, scored a goal (with a hilarious celebration), and then got into a fight with basically the entire other team for his celebration after the goal - leading to him being ejected.

      The goalie dropped his stick, which is equivalent to throwing your stick, so correct call. Just because you feel something is wrong by your emotions doesn't make it wrong per the rulebook (which is was matters, the rulebook, not your feels). Then the goalie poke-checked Tkachuk's skates and not the puck. I'm not a Tkachuk fan, I actually dislike him more than I like him, and the way he executed that PS looked overall clumsy (going in with too much speed, looking at the puck too much, not executing well) but I can kinda understand being annoyed with getting tripped/poke-checked in the skates, it can be quite a dangerous play.

Some of the best highlight saves have a goalie dropping their stick in order to make a blocker save (because you can move your blocker faster when you don't have a stick in your hand). What's worse, it wasn't a breakaway in any case, it was a 2-on-1. Penalty shots require five things, two of which are: the infraction must be from behind, and the player must have an unimpeded breakaway. Neither happened.
      It's crazy that people are defending the officiating and then saying "learn the rules" when the rules are really clear that this isn't a penalty.

      @mcinqb3 11 місяців тому

      IMO (opinion, not fact like others claim vehemently), Kooch (Kochetkov, the goalie), went for a poke check where he thought the puck was going, in that Tkachuk (the shooter) was skating in from his right and he assumed would try to deke around and shoot backhand around him. Tkachuk was looking down and when he happened to look up, Kooch was already laying on the ice in front of him. He then lost possession of the puck, tried to miss Kooch by skating around him, stepped over Kooch's stick and then his foot lands right at Kooch's glove and he falls over it. IMO, nothing the goalie did was done to intentionally trip Tkachuk...he was doing what all goalies do, get in the way of any path the shooter has to the goal. It's not his fault IMO that Tkachuk wasn't watching where he was going in time. People need to realize this happened in a split second...it seems like he was blocking the right and anticipating the left in case Tkachuk tried to go that way. I don't know how it SHOULD have been called, but as a Canes fan, I honestly can see it going either way, and I wouldn't have been able to argue too much had either result occurred. Same with the penalty call itself. Different people have different opinions. That's life.

As for Tripp Tracy (the color commentator), I am surprised that a man who got his only professional hockey shot and has spent virtually his entire career with the same organization would think a split second penalty should go in his team's favor. This isn't a national sports coverage team or an ESPN team, this is the hometown broadcast crew, and the color commentator at that....he's not the play-by-play announcer who generally has to retain some lack of bias. His job is to provide information about the hometown team and give his opinion about the plays that happen in the game. Also, the man was a goalie whose style has ALWAYS been to "attack"...he LIKES that kind of play and played like that himself at Harvard University.
