The title is slightly misleading. I came here looking for how to remove the entire dash, but you're only showing removing the dashboard cover. You do an outstanding job of describing and showing what this takes, but the video doesn't include removing the dashboard. Great job with the video.
I watch many of these informational videos to learn how to repair items on my vehicles myself. In my opinion this the best one I have ever watched. No annoying music in the background ( yes I heard your radio) just honest straightforward common sense information by a real person who has been there,.. done that. Thank you, I found this 2 years after you posted this and it helped me so much. By the way, just before the 3 minute mark the cow in the background is priceless. again, great job!
Finally a nicely done video! Seems like most guys who make videos like this couldn't explain their way out of a wet paper bag. Very nicely done and explained, step by step! Thanks!
Like the gentleman below, I was in a similar situation - cracked dashboard from previous owner and freakin' out about diving into the dash.... Thank you thank you thank you - you're calm voice and perfect sequence of steps enabled me to deal with it. Thank you tons for the vid.
Got the same problem with my 1995. I’ve had it since it was new. Today it’s got 475,000 miles on same 5.7 engine with zero oil leaks and no excessive oil usage. The leather seats are toast because of normal wear due to the high mileage and age. The dash has been shaking, rattling as I’m rolling on a daily basis. For now I’ll keep it as is because it’s not bothering me but I’m glad to have viewed your informative video on your slightly redesigned year model. Maybe in the future I’ll do a lower cost restoration and attend to the dashboard. Thanks for your video and your discussion about an icon of a vehicle because more people can realize how much it boosted, even began today’s SUV craze.
Excellent instructions! Just bought an '00 2500 Suburban and the dash was making that rattling noise all the way home. Glad the fix is simple. I'll be knocking that out tomorrow. Thanks!
Fine presentation, you talked me through something I was hesitant about. I am now moving on to replace the fresh air door actuator. Good work: clear, concise, no foolish music perfect pace.
Well done. I hate taking interior trim apart without knowing how it is attached - seems like I always guess wrong and end up breaking a few fasteners off! Need to do some wiring and cleaning and it'll be a whole lot easier with this cover out of the way. Plus, now I can repaint the dash to cover some scratches. Thanks! Good video.
this was a really methodical and straightforward video. thank you! it was very easy to follow your work. I've been suffering from the same "rattling/squeaking" noise and its driving me insane. I look forward to tackling this project today.
The best darn video. No kerning around just getting to the and telling us what size screws you are working with and how and where to find the release clips
I was impressed! I was going to pay someone because of the unknown but this job looks pretty easy. UA-cam has saved me so much money with all the do it yourself videos! That’s bruh!
Excellent video work... i need to find a new dash for my old 2001 silverado, since mine is broken everywhere and complete junk... i will watch this again before i go to my junkyard...This job could have been a real pain for sure without a good instructional video...back in the day i used to have to figure out jobs like this on my own and you always end up snapping or breaking something... thanks for this...
Great job! No doubt the most common response you've probably gotten is that you are direct and to the point. Too many videos are ruined by unnecessary chatter. Video is just the right length for my attention span. I'm probably looking at replacing my evaporator core. I think I might try it myself after watching your video.
You did a fantastic job on this video! I didn't need to remove all of my dash, just the front cluster trim so that I could get to the panels above the ashtray to install an aftermarket USB/AUX port for my stereo's rear connections. Thank you for the instructional expertise you put into this.
Thanks a million! I've been driving with a carpet cover over my dash for years... now it's time for a new dash cover and panel. You've probably save me a thousand bucks.
The video was very informative and you made it interesting to watch. The best part is when you said that we could our finger nails to pull off the cover, lol. My Dash Board is cracked and this has inspired me to replace it. Keep them coming.
Wow! That looked easy to do. Thanks man. I’m going through my Tahoe and removing all the shit that doesn’t have to be there. All the ducting for the front portion of the floor is gone. I removed the seats and replaced them with manual buckets. The air back sensor is gone now and the floor is now clean. I have standard lap belts now. That shoulder harness just got in the way. On Star is on its way out as well. I’m going to change out the stereo too. God, the ceiling has way too many vent openings for the air conditioner. The ports in the front of the dash are good enough. I’m leaning down my interior. The electric panel on the door is constantly rattling loose. Every time I close the door it pops out of alignment. I’ll look for some door panels in better shape. This body style is the coolest I think. I’m switching over to LED lights inside and out. I’ve got a ways to go. My work is definitely cut out for me.
Great instructional video it helped me a lot. Thank You! My dialogue sensor had fallen out of the dash cover and I tried every other way I could think of to get it back up. I knew I had to take the dash cover off and I had never done it and this was easy to follow and very to the point.
I have watched several times was able to change out a few dashes on my own. This is the best video i have seen so far for the job. Only correction I would add is its only 2000 (new body) 2007. The old body trucks are night to remove dash
Perfect video showing how to pull the dash out of my 2005 GMC Yukon so I could replace the ambient light sensor which was not allowing my daytime running lights to activate instead of my headlights. Luckily my dash was only secured by clips which slip out towards the passenger compartment so I did not have to worry about breaking them off.
Thanks for the video on how to remove the dash cover dude. Just came back from the beach to find that a 6" x 6' branch that decided to test the strength of my windshield and dash, windshield and dash lost! It left a 6" hole through windshield and through top of my dash. Also, my dash started squeaking last year but all I did was push some black styrofoam in each corner. Dash hasn't squeaked since! Again, thanks for the great how-to sir👍
awesome video!!!! I really needed this in the worst way!!! You were easy to understand and really made this look easy!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!!! I have two major cracks, splitting my dash in thirds! Now I can fix mine. You rock!!!!
Thank you, I have a 2007 and I had that same rattle at the same point on the drivers side from day one but I thought it was something in the steering column. I haven't taken it apart yet but I'm sure you hit the nail on the head. 14 years later it is worse and I finally started to think "dash". Wow, thank you.
Excellent Video GR! My 2001 Silverado dash has begun to disintegrate Your video took the mystery out of how to go about replacing the dashboard or IP top. Retired from GM 19 years ago and installed IP's but but didn't build them. So now I need to find a deal on the replacement part. Thank for your video!
awesome video thank you i just bought a 2003 chevy from this guy and suprise when i turned on defrost after i bought it the worst urine smell came out of vent mouse made a nest in defrost vent very easy to take apart appreciate it Mark i was able to get nest out and working on smell now 😄👍👍
Its got the rattle, and a wavey thing going on by the windshield. And the windshield guys did a number on it so I figured Im going to need to wrap it, paint it. Wish black pleather would cover it like what I want to do with my headliner.
Thank you. This gives me the courage to remove my dash pad. I have to replace that light sensor. There's another video showing a guy replacing the sensor through the stereo deck opening. I tried that but my hands and arms are too big so i think I'm going to do what you just did in the video.
Thanks for making this video! I need to replace one of the A/C actuators in my ‘03 Sierra and this is the best step by step video! I’ve had the same dash rattle for awhile and I’ll be fixing that as well. Thanks! You saved me at least $400.
Thanks for sharing this. I've had the dash out before but it's been a few years ago and this was a good video to show the details. I'm going to try replacing the remote entry receiver and it is right in the middle above the radio. Problem is the sun cooks all the plastic and it gets brittle and chalky. The remote entry receiver is really bad about the ears breaking off so I will have to use zip ties or something to hold one on. The replacement I bought off of Ebay is like a piece of chalk. Hoping the actual circuit board and components are still good. If I remember correctly the parts that are broken on your dash are broken on mine also. I haven't had the rattle, but I will now know away to fix it if I'm in there. Thanks again!
Excellent video. It is easier and safer to remove the vents by dropping the glove compartment past the right-side retaining clip and reaching up and pulling.
Dame man it freaks me out to replace my dash , but mine is cracked , I will try my best to replce it , my mom got this truck for me before she past away , and it means a lot to me , I just hope i dont break anything , thank you for the video ,

Great Video Man!! Thanks a lot! Helped with changing out the air inlet/re circulation actuator. Didn't have to remove the passenger air bag. Saved a whole lot of time and unnecessary hassle! Thanks again!

I hot glued my clips back onto the board 5 years ago. Ive had the board out a few times and those clips are strong as nails on there and board goes in and out no problem. I broke all 6 of mine taking it out the first time but I think at least 2 were already broke from board buzzing. Had to pull back out twice more to change sensor and motor for recirc air door under defroster(15 minute job!).
I don't know what you fixed but it sounded good to me. Also the engine has that unmistakable Chevy rumble. Good job on the video and taking the time to explain the steps.
Wow, thank you very much for the video. This is NOT that bad. Another feather in GMs cap. There are some really NOT so great things about this truck/engine/etc. but then there are some REALLY great things about it (with regards to maintenance/repair)
Oh this is so great!! I should be able to remove mine and pull my bracelet out, it slipped down inside the dash where the VIN number is.. I'm going out right now to try it.
Thank you I'm putting in a new stereo and also for future reference I'm gonna replace the dash. This video is informative and very well edited. Keep up the great work. ☺️
I took my dash apart because I had the same noise as you but the noise was coming from the clip on the same side as yours whair the plastic from the dash separated from the clip and I had to epoxy it back because there wasn't enough bite to put the clip back. I tapped it in place and applied epoxy. Let dry for a solid fix.
Nice! Good job!
+Chaos Garage Thank you!! You also have nice work! Been watching your videos
Awesome, I appreciate that a bunch! I'll stay tuned to yours as well. I am checking some of the other ones out now.
+Chaos Garage Same to you!
Do you know if a 2500HD truck dash would bolt into a 2004 Suburban?
+Matt Read I honestly don't know for sure. But of I had to take a guess I would say it should

Did you get a dash cover or replace the original dash?
@@michaelbelfi1609 - I had to get a replacement dash at a junk yard. They don't make them anymore for my truck.

Not gonna lie I was like damn 12 mins of just talking but it was actually helpful haha
Here because my dash is cracked in several places, and needs to be replaced completely. I love how easy these trucks are to work on

Just used your guide to replace the antenna base on my 2000 Suburban. It was right on the money! Thanks!

Thank you, I need to get behind the factory radio to get the wiring for a couple add ons situated better, and this will allow me to do that.
Love this!! Really needed to see this. I’m about to start customizing my Tahoe and will be putting in a new dash
Loved the video, very articulate with detailed and easy to follow instructions, well done Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you.Going to try this out next week.I have an annoying rattle up in the same corner.
Thank you I'm putting in a new stereo and also for future reference I'm gonna replace the dash. This video is informative and very well edited. Keep up the great work. ☺️
Awesome video!! I successfully got my dash off and now to get the new Dash and install
I had the same problem in my 01 2500HD. I pulled the broken pieces and used JB Weld to reattach them.
Excellent video!..Good step by step instructions..Camera work etc.Awsome!!!
+Juan Amador Thank you!!
Thank you buddy, a 2002 avalanche has almost the same set up so my 2000 Silverado parts truck so, I'm about to swap it.
No problem 👍
