Also Anaconda by all accounts isn't a well-liked coaster, so why would you remove a beloved coaster over the one that's not so beloved under ideal circumstances (ideal circumstances being Volcano being able to reopen)? Plus the land that Anaconda uses has great potential.
There once was a time that Anaconda was the latest and greatest, I mean cmon, the dive into the lake followed by a corkscrew over said lake, is pretty awesome. It was near the top of my bucket list after flipping through GUIDE TO RIDE about 50 times. It’s still a must-ride in my book and I hope I get there before it’s gone!!!
I don't think they're going to remove Anaconda soon. After removing Shockwave, RMCing Hurler, and removing a fan favorite in Volcano, they really can't afford to lose more coasters if they want to compete with Busch Gardens. I think they would be more likely to replace Volcano and then just add another new coaster without removing one.
A pretzel loop on a flying coaster going through anaconda’s tunnel would be very intense. The thought of that excites me. I always thought Kings Dominion was one of the more top tier Cedar Fair parks but since I305, I feel like it just fell. It’s my home park but now I prefer to always travel to a new park like Kings Island. Never been yet. Cedar Point is always top priority though.
Still not sure why they thought a 300 foot drop directly into a turn was a good idea, but at least there is nothing else like it. I hope they repeat history with something 1-of-a-kind
Same, I used to always make the extra hours drive to go to Kings Dominion over Busch Gardens, but not in the last 5 years or so , I just go to Busch Gardens.

my opinion on this is the exact same for grizzly. close it for a season, take it down, rebuild it with all modern electronics, track, trains, and everything else that needs to be updated. being that we lost volcano, I don't think we would be super happy with another legendary coaster being removed. This is my home park, and while this ride is headache fuel after the second reride, that can be fixed with restraints like what dominator has. this is one of my favorite rides in the park, and I would really hate to see it go. Or maybe even weaken the mid course
With the new theming going on, it would certainly make the most sense to relocate Anaconda to where Volcano used to be. I’m sure it would cost some money and be a hassle, but it would mesh well with Tumbili, Arachnidia (formerly Scrambler) and Reptilian (formerly Avalanche).
Anaconda has to be the most awkward coaster I've ridden. It's been about 20 years since I rode it, so maybe I'm not remembering well. What stuck with me though was how many sections of the ride featured heavily banked turns, but were so slow that there wasn't enough positive g-force to actually push you in the direction of the bank, so it felt like I was just sort of hanging on my side for long stretches of the ride. I had a better experience on Shockwave of all things.
Idk how dumb this sounds but I have a feeling in the next coming years one of the old rides is gonna go then all the parks are gonna start to take out a lot of old rides
The Rebel Yell/ Racer 75 better stay, along with the Scooby-Doo/ Woodstock Express, and of course the Grizzly. I grew up on those and would hate to see these amazing Woodies gone for yet another gimmick ride.
Honestly I think volcanoes replacement has to be something as unique as the coaster was so I think it S&S axis coaster would be a perfect fit and they could claim to have the first one too
Anaconda is acually underated. In my opinion is a good coaster. Kings dominion cant get rid of thie coaster right now they need to replace volcano first. Also they have that room behind imtimadator 305 that they can expand with.
I feel like that plot will eventually host two rides. A Power Splash exactly where you placed it, with a station where Anaconda's is now, along with another coaster over the west part of the lake, with a station near Backlot's helix. As for what that second coaster would be, I think either a Vekoma Bermuda Blitz like Lech Coaster, or a top-class family coaster along the lines of Firechaser Express, Verbolten, or Cobra's Curse. The park has some family coasters, but none of that quality. And yes, I realize that those are from 3 different manufacturers, but that just gives Cedar Fair options on who to go with. That sort of coaster is also probably the best financial investment the park could make as well. Families drive ticket sales. I feel like as a part of these changes, they should also find a way to update I305's plaza so it isn't a complete dead-end. Having that path loop back around to these rides would increase access to I305 and maybe improve ridership.
That Vekoma Family Suspended you mentioned might work on Shockwave's plot of land if it hasn't been filled up by now. That being said, another ride to consider for Anaconda's plot would be an S&S Air Launch - their prototype failed under Paramount's ownership, but Cedar Fair would do better with the real thing without the prototype's mechanical flaws.
Anoconda was the first upside down roller coaster i’ve ever rode. just last sunday (day after christmas) I rode dominator ngl kings dominon has some rlly rlly fun and good rides
I think a B&M Dive would work great there. Crowd Pleaser, Fills a gap in the lineup, over the water would make it thrilling and it could be themed around water/aquatic animals.
I’d take a smooth ride over Anaconda. The first time I got on, it gave me a headache and I was out for the rest of the time. I spent my time on family rides while sitting out the few roller coasters we missed. Went back, avoided Anaconda, and had no headache so I was able to ride the other coasters I missed. Went back, decided to ride Anaconda at the end and it gave me a headache. So officially, that ride shakes my head too much to the point it gives me a headache... so definitely any smooth ride over Anaconda.
If a Vekoma family suspended is being considered, why isn't one of their more recent thrill suspended models? There's one in Europe which looks really good, and that could be a perfect contender for their lineup and allowing them to replace a thrill coaster with another thrill coaster.
Also Vekoma isn't just building their Family Suspended Coasters. Also their new "SLC", the Suspended Thrill Coaster, like, Hals über Kopf in Tripsdrill in Germany. I rode it a week after it opened. They are so much fun. Because they do not focus on inversions or speed like B&M suspended coaster, but on airtime on a suspended coaster. Which is really fun. And hard to explain.
I think you’re right about a family accessible coaster, Anaconda was a 48” ride and the only 48” ride at the park with inversions, so certainly something that families can ride together.
Watching this again, a MACK Extreme Spinner like Ride To Happiness would be great. A nice wonky roll out of the station over the water would be a great visual.
If I'm being honest. With them replacing 2 rides, I think they may get a company to smooth some of the track out. They might go with this if they get a chance to because it would probably be WAY cheaper. Although, almost no company's would be up for it.
Great stuff ! I have fond memories of this park. I know this would never happen because I don’t know of anyone who makes them anymore but I’d love to see a new age Ninja or the bat here. Over this lake something like that would be so great here
If Kings Dominion was to build a family suspended coaster from Vekoma, maybe that in turn could convince Cedar Fair to finally replace the current restraints found on Flying Ace Aerial Chase, Kiddy Hawk and Silver Streak at Kings Island, Carowinds and Canada's Wonderland respectively with those newer and more comfortable ones found on Freedom Flyer and Dragonflyer at Fun Spot America and Dollywood respectively.
I don’t see Cedar Fair working with Vekoma anytime soon because they have really never worked with them anyways, and they have been constantly removing old Vekomas like Firehawk and Stinger from the their parks recently that were maintenance nightmares. I know new Vekomas are better, but it is the same company, and Cedar Fair probably doesn’t have the best relationship with them after all the problems they have had with their rides. Also, the same can likely be said for RMC after all the problems Cedar Fair had/has with Steel Vengeance.
Anaconda was my first “big steel” roller coaster when I was a kid. I banged my head on those crappy restraints so much. It makes me sad to know that it will be gone soon, I am excited to see something new take its place though. BTW... that water is disgusting! No way anyone would want to get it on. Thanks for the awesome video, lots of love from Richmond VA!
Another B&M Launch Wing Coaster would be a fun and fitting tribute to Volcano. Thunderbird is so good. However, the leaked layout looks like a standard wing coaster with a lift hill. A forceful launch coaster with an eye-catching focal point would look cool where Anaconda's lift stands. Something like Full Throttle or Maxx Force?
I hope it’s more like Flying Wing Coaster or Falcon (wing coasters in China) because they don’t look that bad rather than Gatekeeper or x fligjt (i have ridden gatekeeper and i hate that coaster and x flight looks 10x worse)
I went on Anaconda this year and I gotta say it’s easily one of my favorites. It is my Arrow Killer (the only Arrow coaster I enjoy) and I hope to see it around when I make my Southern trip again in two years, but I might have to come back sooner
A B&M wing would definitely fit on volcano's plot of land, but who knows what could be put on the plot of anaconda, a flyer would be nice, or a mini hyper, but if they wanted to, they could try and clear out some more land like removing their toboggan and some stores and possibly squeezing in a b&m hyper, or possibly an invert
I wouldn't be surprised if they're going to build something similar to Anaconda. If they are going to build it on Anaconda's former plot, my money's personally on the Raptor: Cheap, thrilling, customizable, and the low capacity can be fixed with longer trains (plus, KD's moderate, yet not high popularity makes low capacity not the biggest deal). In my opinion, if a park removes a thrill ride, they should build another thrill ride of similar or greater caliber in its place, even if its not in the same location. However, a Flying coaster that goes entirely over water and dives into a tunnel would be spectacular. However, if they want to make use of that tunnel, they can't use a 4-seat wide model, for clearance reasons.
With the GTX, if the mechanics of Anaconda are in good condition they might go with that, as it would be a cheaper edition and just as popular, something parks will be looking for for their next editions. It's certainly more likely when you think about it from that perspective. While I don't know the exact cost of Phantom's Revenge I've heard it was quoted as being less than 1/4 the cost of the original Steel Phantom. And that conversion was done within 1 offseason so they could literally be announced simultaniously. And it gives them the opportunity to market it off nostalgia.
This is kind of random but I never realized they removed Crypt! I rode it last only about a year ago in October, R.i.p to all of those ride models that have been removed the past few years :(
I lowkey like Anaconda because I’m a sucker for old, atmospheric coasters, especially arrow ones. I hope they pay homage to it and maybe keep the long, overgrown, magical que
KD isn’t allowed to get the same coaster models that already exist a bgw and vice versa like Intamin Blitz, b&m hyper, b&m dive, b&m invert, etc, because of Virginia State Law
Compact fighter coaster for the dinosaurs alive plot, flying coaster for the lake, and custom wooden coaster for volcano plot. But the lake will likely be an expansion for the water park.
I think either a Vekoma of some sort or a Gerstlauer infinity with the light package would be a really cool addition, however it's more likely the lake will just be turned into a visual thing. A dude can dream, though lmao
You should take a look at a next gen Mack watercoaster. Only example atm is Krampus Expedition that is currently under construction at Nigloland in France
0:12 “especially at their premeir parks” CF’s premeir parks: Cedar Point, Valleyfair, Michigan’s Adventure, Dorney Park, World’s of Fun What’s goin on there??
I think Cedar Fair’s business model is a more “play it safe” type gig. Which is actually really smart. Cedar fair used to be pioneer products, but ever since intimidator 305, maverick, and top thrill dragster. They don’t want to have nightmares like this again. So as soon as Intamin proved themselves with these newer models in the US, and once the axis coaster shows some promise. THEN I think cedar fair will step in and buy one.
I am very interested in finally knowing they are going to do something with Kings Dominion. It is a Cedar Fair Park so its about time. Since they took Volcano away, it would be nice for a Wing Coaster!!!
Anaconda, while not the biggest mega looper is still a large scale attraction so replacing it with a tiny big dipper or power splash seems much too backwards. Why does no one ever mention Mack Rides hyper like DC Rivals? It's large scale, doesn't focus on inversions although it has them, and it is a much different roller coaster than Apollo's chariot, I 305 and even Pantheon.
I have an awesome idea for a video. You should make a video on the top 15 coasters with the best color schemes and the top 15 worst. That would make for an awesome video
Whatever they do, I hope they keep the underwater tunnel and re-connect the Congo section to the water park, bringing shortcut back to Drop Tower & Rebel Yell (it will always be Rebel Yell)
"Anaconda can't be around much longer." That's what I was thinking in the 90's. But it's hugely ironic that Anaconda has a dead middle section amidst a waste of steel- while Intimidator right next door has an aggressive starting section amidst minimal steel. Seriously- why not remove the dead section of Anaconda, and reconfigure the steel to reduce the intensity of Intimidator- fixing both coasters?
Replacing anaconda will be difficult just because of its location above the water. They will definitely hold off replacing it until absolutely necessary. Most likely after volcanoes replacement. Or it will just be taken down and the space will be used by something other then a rollercoaster.
This was my first actual thrill coaster that I rode back in like 2012, kinda sucks to see it go but I probably enjoy it a lot more saying I probably didn’t notice any head banging
Anaconda's only saving grace is it's site. Doing inversions over the lake and the underwater tunnel were the only cool thing. Do the worlds longest Infinity that interacts with the water, and you might have a Volcano style surprise hit. Hell, do it with a vertical launch tower as a tribute to Volcano, since I think the Infinity can do that and it would be a cool feature for a just over 100 foot first drop.
I still think the best selection is a S&S/Vekoma blitz coaster like Lech coaster in Poland. You can have a really nice drop with inversions and airtime while utilizing the water and land available.
I wonder if B&M will build a new inverted coaster here. I mean something similar to Raptor or Banshee would make an excellent replacement. I feel like there should be competition when it comes to inverts because it could be a small compact inverted so it will be different from Alpengiest (can't spell) Or if they want to ditch the inverted design, they could possibly build a B&M hyper here. It's a lot of space and I think it a floater air time machine with large drops that doesn't focus on intensity would be great too. Maybe a slightly more compact hyper so it will have floater but it will probably be the smallest hyper so I don't know
I don’t think I’ve ever heard or seen anyone point this out, but Anaconda wouldn’t be so much better without the mid course break run. Slowing the coaster down makes it more painful. I also remember when the shoulder restraints were taller, bashing your head from side to side, rather than just the neck. I definitely wouldn’t mind a suspended coaster there, but it should definitely some heart line roles to pay homage to Volcano.
I feel like they are removing more coasters than they are adding
Agreed
It’s honestly sad.
Oh yeah if your talkin bout KD

2023; if announced in 2022 open Anaconda's replacement

I know new Vekomas are better, but it is the same company, and Cedar Fair probably doesn’t have the best relationship with them after all the problems they have had with their rides. Also, the same can likely be said for RMC after all the problems Cedar Fair had/has with Steel Vengeance.
Man, back in the day, that was where the "King Cobra" looping coaster sat. Talk about lame.
I really hope they don’t demolish it. I love it.
If they add an Rmc Raptor VAs line up would legit be lethal and it already is technically
I'm not sure how likely it'd be, but a Gerstlauer spinning coaster could be a good fit. It'd be novel and thrilling yet still family friendly.
What if the KDFans wing coaster replaces Anaconda, and the Volcano replacement is undecided?
Omgggg that would be totally better than that wack layout replacing volcano cause anything is better than anaconda
I got excited when i read the title and thought it was actually being removed, then i watched the video
Just spitballin over here
Anaconda is Depressed,10 years later Anaconda has Coronavirus and can’t survive,Now it’s dead waiting to get buried.
I rode it last only about a year ago in October, R.i.p to all of those ride models that have been removed the past few years :(
i watch this channel too much. Im humming the theme song at work. LOL
I think a Mack hyper coaster, sounds weird, but I think will be awesoem
A Flyer over the lake is an opportunity you can't miss.
Kings Island should build a new wooden coaster and call it Daughter of Beast
Great Uncle through Marriage of Beast
I think either a Vekoma of some sort or a Gerstlauer infinity with the light package would be a really cool addition, however it's more likely the lake will just be turned into a visual thing. A dude can dream, though lmao
You should take a look at a next gen Mack watercoaster. Only example atm is Krampus Expedition that is currently under construction at Nigloland in France
Kings dominion is my home park I’ll take anything over Anaconda!
I live in Virginia....I’ve been to kings Dominion but not Busch Garden
@@johndang9228 been to both love Bush Gardens.
0:12 “especially at their premeir parks”
CF’s premeir parks: Cedar Point, Valleyfair, Michigan’s Adventure, Dorney Park, World’s of Fun
What’s goin on there??
The Mack Power Splash or whatever is an awesome way to tie in their lazy river area with the rest of the park
I really like the power splash idea, maybe the version with the vertical loop? 😎
They could go for a Gravity Group and I think they work with them because of that proposed layout at Dorney Park
Yeah but another woodie? Kinda doubt it
@@AirtimeThrills maybe Intamin has perfected the Prefab and made up with CF....one can dream
That’s true, I think that’s just me because I don’t like Grizzly and Racer 75 isn’t outstanding
@@noahconrad65 well they are classics so if they get a modern woodie,If could be good
It's still here. Don't know why though.
I’ve been screaming Mack Hyper for over a year now. I don’t care where it goes in the US
Yeah a Mack rides hyper would be good and would be called Stingray
I have an awesome idea for a video. You should make a video on the top 15 coasters with the best color schemes and the top 15 worst. That would make for an awesome video
Yeah I totally agree with you, great video!
A multi Mack Launch coaster would be great for this!
I remember when both Volcano and Anaconda opened at the park...... and how excited everybody was
0:14 those are my friends ahhh! That was during the music festival, and I was there too!!
You got my hopes up with the thumbnail, I thought they announced its removal already
You don’t know how long I was waiting for you to say b&m flyer 😂😂
The lift hill of anaconda sits where the old King Kobra shuttle loop was. How about putting the 3D spinner there and calling it Kobras Revenge?
Intimidator 305 is one of the best roller coasters I've been on!
wait, hear me out I know this will sound crazy but, Rebuild the Volcano and add a Vekoma Launched Flying coaster.
I feel like there should be competition when it comes to inverts because it could be a small compact inverted so it will be different from Alpengiest (can't spell)
Or if they want to ditch the inverted design, they could possibly build a B&M hyper here.
They could put a mean hyper or wing coaster by B&M there. Great plot of land (water) for that.
