@@naubolos8426 they sort of have done this in the comics, the lost dimension features both this design and nuwho's silurian design. essentially they're different subspecies of silurian, with these being the "scholar caste" and the nuwho silurians being the "warrior caste"
@@hollownora2818 To be honest I think that is a terrible idea and the type of unrealistic thing I hate in DW (especially NuHu). The Old DW Silurians and the new versions don't at all look like the same species at all. Honestly the design for them in NuHu is just a bad idea period that sends the wrong message about them... that to emphasise with them they need human faces.
Same I also enjoyed this one, I always liked the Silurians and Sea Devils. I actually got the dvd collection “Beneath the Surface” about ten or so years ago. It was my first time watching the old who and it’s what got me into rewatching the old episodes. As such these monsters are special to me because of this.
You obviously haven't seen much old school Doctor Who then. In the late 60s and throughout the 70s, almost every Doctor Who story killed off everyone except the Doctor and his companions. The Daleks' Master Plan, Tomb of the Cybermen, Seeds of Death, Ark in Space, Genesis of the Daleks, Revenge of the Cybermen, Planet of Evil, Pyramids of Mars, Seeds of Doom, Robots of Death, and Horror of Fang Rock are some really good examples.

That is why they look different. The doctor even mentions this “I met your people a long time ago, a different branch of Homoreptilia of course but still the same” and tells them how they were sadly attacked by the humans but then he begs the Silurians not to take revenge upon the humans. I also like the Samurai armour look for the Seadevils which was an awesome choice so I say well done to the costume designers as they improved the costumes on both creatures, despite having a very limited budget. I like the edition of the Silurians third eye 👁 lighting up when they speak similar to a Daleks dome lights. This makes up for the fact that the mouth doesn’t move and it helps to distinguish which Silurian is talking. It's just the deranged rantings of a suicide cult.
Yo did anyone notice at 1:16 2 of the sea devils bumped each other by accident
There is barely any plot in this until Part Four, such a missed opportunity. I just did a review if anyone wants to check it out.
That Silurian looks like it's had a stroke the side of it's face is not moveing poor thing.
Gah, that modulated high-pitched voice on the Silurians is hurting my ears.
Maybe that's the nostalgia talking. I like the writing more though.
Unpopular opinion, but I like, the new silurians. Though I’m glad they’re keeping much of the classic look of the Sea Devils!
I like that in an effort to kind of bridge the gap, they had the new Silurians wear masks that were reminiscent of the original design.
I find them very lazily designed to be frank. And completely miss the whole point of the original message behind them.
The Silurians were creepy
Now that is a Silurian, dammit!
I like the Sea Devils Armour
I found this story/episodes scary as a kid now I just laugh especially the absurd sea monster and that stupid woman karate kicking it, I almost died of laughter
That karate scene was bloody awful.
No. They were Silurians.
clumsy Silurians at 1:15
2:38
I thought it was a frog.
These were one of the monsters that I actually felt sorry for.....😟😎
Tip for sci-fi writers; Godwinning in your story usually never works.
There should have been another way...
I think we're in the minority with that opinion I'm afraid. I love the new designs, but I suppose they could just be a different sub-species of silurian, like the difference between the two species of silurian in this clip.
They could re-design these species and have them in the new series, that would be cool.
Its stated in the new series the new ones are a different branch so they do address the new look.
They're Sea Devils not another species of Silurian.
Silurian Security...
Well...it sounds sciencey-er. I guessed it didn't make sense but I'd rather have that than calling them after the wrong era.
Noooooooo! Tegan has the best pantyhosed legs in the universe! Don't let her leave!
Lizbian. I like that. :)
What good episode gets bad rep
Do the Sea Devils have any dialogue in this ep?
A little bit. But just the basic giving/receiving of orders stuff.
@@sadako24 ah I see
Actually it's quite funny to see this mistake, made me smile.
So bad, it makes Jodie's era look good.
Convention cosplay.
