This is a beautifully poignant moment, made all the more so as most of the cast knew Michael Toma (whom played Mr. Crandall) had terminal cancer. He passed away a few weeks after this was filmed. The emotion on Valerie Landsburg face perhaps says more than a 100o words could. A touching gesture from all concerned to someone whom was obviously held in high regard.

You can see he’s taking it all in. It can be hard to accept moments of love and kindness sometimes esp when you are vulnerable as he was with his illness and he made it a point to take it all in. Beautiful man.

The raw emotion in their eyes and his chokes me up and what makes this song is the true love and passion they put into it for their ailing friend and he passed 3 weeks after this was aired.

I missed this episode when it first came out but the emotions it brings up knowing that Michael Thoma is leaving the show due to failing health is palpable. When I finally saw the episode it put a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. What a glorious way tp pay respect and say goodbye. No wonder this show was so popular around the world.

The tragic beauty of this song is that "Mr. Crandall" (Michael Toma was, at this stage at the losing end of his battle with cancer and passed away 3 weeks later!
The cast and crew knew that he was dying and this was their final tribute to Michael Toma as a friend and colleague.
    Get's me every time!!

This song gets to me everytime I hear it. Sadly I lost my mum 17 years ago from a brain tumour and unfortunately just recently my dad has been diagnosed with two inoperable brain tumours and stage 4 lung cancer. I know it's going to make me cry everytime I hear it but it's such a beautiful song and so close to my heart. You can see the emotion in Michael Thoma's and it makes me think about what my dad is going through.

What an amazing and love-filled farewell not only to a character but the actor who played him. I know he felt the immense outpouring of emotion felt by everyone who watches this, and I can't help but think he's close by each time someone even now watches again. This song was such a beautiful gift.
