I've watched this at least three times. I swear I haven't seen anyone who can manage to pull off the range This Old Tony does. From something that legit could be in an art house film festival, to the good natured snarkiness that is Lathe Leveling, to the satire of Origins all that AND I learn something every single time. Outstanding!! Absolute pleasure to watch a master at his craft. UPDATE: just rewatched this and it is so relaxing, interesting, cathartic a real pleasure of a watch! Thank you Tony for bringing 1000x better quality content than television ever will!

This is one of the first machining video i ever watched. When i first watched it, i didn’t even know what machining was, had never really questioned “how” things are made. Well, I just pulled my first bridgeport into the garage a few weeks ago, alongside my southbend heavy 10, 9a, 11” O series, Leblond… Let’s just say “fleet” of small lathes. (I have a problem with lathes) Coming back to watch it again for nostalgias sake, i realize that finding this video, and others like it, was one of the best things to ever happen to me. Behind marrying my wife of course, and adopting my dog.
I don’t recall the last time I enjoyed a video like that one. I used to wonder why my Dad would ask me to leave his “shop” when ever he was working on something very tedious. 53 yrs later and watching my you-tube hero’s and wishing I had a lathe & Bridgeport . . . . . . . . I understand. I wonder what he’d say if he saw a DRO and all the other digital tooling. Thanks Tony, I sure enjoyed it

Very clever way to pull off that head. Most of us would have just yanked it off of there and dropped it on our foot to cushion the landing.
