Excellent video. Great tip in trying to buy as close to original as possible. I bought something that looked identical and found out the universal fit wasn't so universal so returned it to get another one with the slip on assembly like the one in your video. One thing I noticed with the new and even my old spout is there is some water dripping from the back of the spout. I took the old one apart and mounted just the plastic assembly to study where the back flow is coming from and discovered there is leakage around the plastic assembly. Oddly this happens even with the new assembly which has fresh O rings. So I wrapped plumbing tape around the plastic assembly covering the O rings and then wrapped plumbing tape around the copper pipe. It's a little tight so had to wiggle it in and voila. No more dripping from back. I also put duct tape to cover up the bottom half of the pipe cutting a notch in the tape for the pipe and added a rubber band so if there's any leakage inside this will wick the water away so it doesn't seep behind the walls causing water damage and mold.
Man someone help me out so I broke the spout on my place the plastic assembly SNAPPED so rushed to Home Depot to get a spout and I assembled it and it shot out and hit me in the DAMN KNEE I decided to put it together again and used a drill to tighten it and now it doesn’t shoot at me but it drips from the back when I pull the knob up did I miss a instruction should I have caulked the inside pipe? Or what or maybe my drill fucked it up mind u I did not put it that tight just semi tight
Your video was the only one I found that mentions cleaning up the supply pipe prior to slipping on the replacement spout. My new spout was very resistant when replacing. I was thinking either a wire brush or something. Thanks for including the details.
If you don’t have a caulk gun you can buy an inexpensive tube of silicone caulk at any home improvement store. Cut off the tip and carefully apply a bead around where the spout contacts the shower wall and you’ll be all set. Good luck!
I think I got that one at Lowes, but should be available at any hardware or big box store. They carry a few different varieties so you may need to check a couple stores.
@@jgrande1 If you can get it to seal off completely, that's better than having any kind of leak. I just tried to install one today and it was leaking from the inside. Then I found this and ordered it just to make sure any leak I have doesn't get behind the wall and cause damage to sheetrock: ua-cam.com/video/fJ8xr0gUcKM/v-deo.html

How would you fix a leaking pipe @ 1:48 ?
What should you do if the rubber o ring needs replacing?
My dad said to give you a like because it helped him
Thank you. This has helped me a lot
Ok nu faucet keeps getting pushed off can you help i dont feel the screw catching
Plain and simple, thanks
Thx this helped alot since I have exact same set
Do you turn the main water off?
No. Not necessary to turn off the water if just replacing the spout.
@@HomeSource oh thanks. There is a little bit of water dripping from the spout right now that's why I was wondering if the main valve should be off.
what size allen wrench did you use?
we have replaced a corroded faucet, and in the off position its still running. smh We was hoping it was an easy fix.
Very helpful. Thank you. I really appreciate it.
How do you rechaulk?

The pull up diverter has a washer in it that is worn out. Just needed a new washer.
Thanks 👍
Where you buy this ?
I think I got that one at Lowes, but should be available at any hardware or big box store. They carry a few different varieties so you may need to check a couple stores.
If done this way you can still swivel the spout left and right even with the screw tight. Not good with kids around.
It’s not suppose to completely seal off water
Hi. I'm about to replace my faucet for the reason described in the video. Why it's not supposed to be a perfect seal?

So you dont cover set screw hole below the faucet.
If that’s a DANCO brand, which it looks like, it’s a terrible design. I’ll never buy their garbage again.
Wrong! Not every spout is a slip on!
