Dude. Have been waiting for some solid anti ship missile content. It's a surprisingly uncovered topic.

Wasn't Moskva said to have been struck by one or two Ukranian "Neptune" missiles? I like to think that one or two " 'Poons" would have blasted the superstructure more than the post strike imagery showed. The Neptune is said to be an evolution of a Soviet design. (which is probably a Harpoon rip-off as much as they could do)

HELLO fools, if a 40 year old Slava class cruiser with obsolete Top Steer, Big Net surveillance radars. Can't provide initial Detection and Cueing Information to a equally Obsolete single Top Dome firecontrol radar, nor ar the Bass Tilt firecontrol radars lit off for terminal defense. Then what 😳 is anybody bragging about? 😅 uss stark hit by 2 Exocet missiles yet had 34 SM-1 MR, in the 40 missile Ready Service Ring????😂😅😊 IDIOTS of Gen Z! They POLLUTE UA-cam WITH THEIR EVER INCREASING STUPIDITY!

People call the harpoon missile obsolete. People don’t realize that yes the harpoon is not the best missile on paper. But it is reliable, well tested, relatively inexpensive, and can be produced at a larger scale than some newer more advanced missiles. Number of missiles matters a lot in ship verse ship warfare.

There is also the fact that the U.S. Navy has roughly 5,000 of them stockpiled. Even the most advanced anti ship missile defense systems can be overwhelmed with a saturation attack.

Sort of like "I'd USUALLY take 2 or 3 magazines of 22LR over a single round of 44"??
Or maybe Sherman tanks vs Tigers, or whatever?

I think the French Exocet is the missile that revolutionized anti-ship warfare. If Argentina had had more of them the Falklands War might have had a different outcome.

I agree with you the Exocet made front page news all over the world thanks to Argentina..

      Nonsense....
I don't know if the data you received about the two was thorough....but the briefing I gave to the Sultan of Brunei's mercenary generals when the Sultan considered the Exocet VS Harpoon was at the clearance level I was given to speak to them on the matter.
I can say this....Harpoon console has a universally modular data and control design....it's never in a fault/casualty mode for more than a second.
      Exocet can't make that claim.
....but what would I know...I just worked on them 🙄

Germans used the first anti-shit missile in WW2. The USA also had anti-ship missiles and radar guided ordinance R&D projects in WW2. Lots of militaries had the same idea, but different R&D programs

"Harpoon" and "Revolutionized" - Let me tell you something as a landlocked Central European self-proclaimed expert, thanks to DCS and Sea Power. Harpoon? Meh. And that word “revolutionized”? Not buying it.
How do I know? Well, let’s just say the Kirov in Sea Power turned my fleet into scrap metal while probably smirking provocatively. And in DCS, the so-called “invincible” cruiser Moskva turned my salvo into fireworks. So yes, my opinion is backed by extensive research and rigorous field testing. Totally bulletproof.
By the way, did you know we Czechs (beer, Jágr… don’t mix him up with Chechens) don’t have a navy but still boast a 100% success rate in naval battles? Yep, we destroyed the USSR. Or, well, ambushed them. Whatever-let’s just say we wiped the floor with those commies. Fun fact: when they invaded us in 1968, they sent tanks instead of ships because they were too scared to lose their precious navy (they sent that up to the Ukrainians, who don't have such cool stats, but... you know).
Now, I sometimes wonder: shouldn’t we train some tank experts instead? Seems more practical. But as economists say, past trends do not predict future outcomes. Economists, of course, speak only universal truths-unlike sociology, which, let’s be honest, doesn’t.
…And now I’m questioning whether I’ve ever written anything more pointless. Sadly, I have. But this might still make the Top 10. What’s my #1? A 5-page essay meticulously proving why Marxist economics is utter nonsense. Bulletproof, I tell you! Too bad it got rejected, so no one saw it.
