By running a strap or rope over the top of the black outer fly you will cause it to leak. Nothing should touch the outer fly. You can also use a silicon tent fly waterproofing spray all over these materials. I use the swag canvass spray and tent waterproof spray once a year. I do agree that they are a bit noisy in a bit of wind. You do need to make sure all the clips and straps are firm. I also upgraded to the self-inflating mat after 6 weeks on the road in it. The ply floor and self inflation mat is much better. Also i run a couple of sheets of builders foil insulation under the mat to keep a bit of warmth in cold weather.
Just wondering what is the floor in your rrt made from. The whole set up looks a bit flimsy, hope it doesn't leak again. Watch a couple of your cape york videos keep up the good work.
Hey mate thanks for the comment! The floor of the inner tent is some type of canvas with a plywood topper. This is the way it comes from drifta. I'm looking at putting a condensation matt in but definitely not my favourite design..
Hi mate what’s your overall opinion on the drifta roof top tent? How does it compare to a motop ? I’m in the market for one but unsure what to get. Cheers
I put a eye in bottom of the tent ran power up to 3 cig sockets two where duel usb one just cig so can run heated blanket why I charge my phone and have light on all at same time
@@holliday4x419 check out Rob Richmond from Drifta his UA-cam videos shows how he did it mines same same as that works perfect specially when you got two ppl up there both can charge phones and have light on and heated blanket in colder weather

It's really gunna come down to your personal needs, how much you use it and stuff like that. I am planning to do a full review on it after I've lived in it for 100 days. I will say for now though if you do alot of beach camping it suffers from wind. You can leave a small amount of bedding in but nothing compared to other brands. It is super light and thin but you're sacrificing alot in order to get that. If you want to give me a bit more info on what you'll use it for ect I'll try suggest a good tent
@@holliday4x419 mainly using it for weekend trips but will have a few big trips planned eventually. It will be coming on and off the car in-between trips so weight is a consideration. Keeping bedding in would also be nice. Any issues with the drifta leaking or not sealing properly when closed ? Thanks again mate
@@brodielegg9844 well I don't think you'll beat Drifta for the weight factor. Never had mine leak when closed but have had some condensation issues and water coming in through the top zip on extreme weather. Personally I would look at something that's the motop shape that's just better built and easier to pack up and down. I'll be looking at something like the Darche or 23Zero next.

FYI the carpet goes face down with the floor insert to protect the tent floor
Where did you get the replacement tent from? can't find it on any of the sites.
What roof rack size is that infront
8 months on, how did you find the Wildlands RTT after the tighter replacement tent was fitted?
Did it improve things to the point you found it good?

Yeh 3 definitely wouldn't hurt. I might have to run a double so I can run my fan but happy with it for now 👍
