Being born in 80s Soviet Union I can't believe that acrylics already existed. If Im not mistaken, the gels and acrylics on tips were introduced only in late 90s or early 2000s. The paper forms were introduced around 15 years ago. I can believe how far the nail industry has evolved!
Lol....sculpted acrylics existed in the 60s. Tips were released in the late 70s. UV gel became a thing in the mid 80s but really didn't catch on until the early to mid 90s.
I remember colouring on the floor while my mom got her French manicures. I swear as soon as you started building that wide tip with the GIANT tub of OPI, I could smell the monomer and polish.
I think the reason that this style appeals to a lot of people, even still, is because of how clean it looks. With all the new tools, technology, colours, and accessories nails got pretty wild! After decades of tiger/zebra print, glitter, neon and nail art, it’s refreshing to see a clean, classic, acrylic French!

I loved this video! It's so fun to hear all the little details, from the drill getting caught in the hair to all the authentic products! I love how excited you are telling it all, sooooo fun!
I was born in 1988 , was always fascinated by long press ons and stickers. I went to a private catholic school in the Caribbean, my friend's sister at the time, who was about 8yrs old got her nails done for her birthday like this and I was so jealous that her mom would allow her to get "fake nails" and come to school. I assumed they were press-ons. Idk. She had to remove it soon because it wasn't allowed. This was fun and intriguing thank you. I was hoping that old drill was working still!
Almost in tears watching this! My mom used to get her nails done like this & watching this brought back all the sounds & smells from when she would take me to the salon. She was really strict with me & I remember when she allowed me to get my first professional (basic) manicure. I thought I was so chic hanging out getting my nails done with the ladies in the salon. She hasn't done her nails like this in a long time because of arthritis in her hands; but, this video brought back so many happy memories to me!
The 80’s ARE coming back! My youngest daughter is graduating high school this year and all the boys have permed mullets... I kid you not! This was so fun to watch, thank you for the time travel!
I wish you could do a 90s video too! Would be so awesome! With all of your knowledge it would be amazing to see all the change of trends throughout the years. 💗 Such a great video, thank you xx
Would be amazing if you made a video where you took each finger and made each nail a style from one of the almost 4 decades you've been doing this. So an 80's nail, 90's nail, 2k's nail, 2010's nail, and a nail from today in the 20's.
There is nothing i love more than watching people on a nostalgia-trip through time! I have no affinity with the 80's whatsoever, but just seeing people so excited gets me excited, too!
Love love love this! The 80's was an era where one truly could describe the decade as ICONIC and MEAN IT. EVERYTHING was a vibe and a statement/moment. True nostalgia here... And note to Camera Man... the music in this is LEGIT! Bobbing my head the whole time.
Oh my gosh how fun! I still to this day wear the old school square nails. You nailed it thanks for all the wonderful videos I enjoy them so much! You looked amazing and camera man also nailed the music 🎶 I remember my high school graduation pictures Glamour Shots I wore the black leather jacket off my shoulders and my Puffy bangs.

I LOVE a pink and white nail tbh! I think it's so classic and elegant and could never be dated at all! Never been a fan of a square nail on my nails/fingers personally. I love oval, but oval pink and white french all the way! Looks gorgeous, Suzie!
I can’t tell you how many times my hair got stuck in my drill in my 17 yrs as a manicurist but the loved every minute of it. Absolutely the best time of my life .80s and 90s nails were amazing.

French is my fav, if im paying to have my nails/toes done its always French because i can paint my nails any color at home but i cant make gorgeous french nails to save my life 🤣
I started getting my nails done in the early 90's. My nail tech had an awesome technique of filing my nails to make a beautiful narrow subtle C curve. Very natural looking. She did most of the work with hand files. She was in her late 40's then and had been doing nails a LONG time. She retired a few years after we met. I've never seen anyone else with her technique. She truly was masterful in her art.
Suzie! You haven't changed you have gotten even more beautiful. I sure miss the 80s. Everything was so simple then not like now. The nail salons were so cool especially the designs I used to get the pink and white I loved wide French or curved nails. I had big hair and every color scrunchy to match my outfits, big hoops was a must. I loved this video, I was born in 1980 and honestly I love the shape of your nails lol. I love crisp straight corners. The music was so great, thank you cameraman. I remember the 80s being so good very carefree. Miss it.
Omg that Bing cherries reminds me of loreal 's cherries in the snow from the 80's. The 80's were the best!! Thank you for sharing this great video.
This was the best vid ever. 80’s is the best era. I was a 86 baby and I love all things 80’s. Love the music in this video.
I'm 63 and I loved the sguare shape and the "moscow" color from opi. Opi was the only polish I'd use and then the gel finish! Wow!! Thanks for a trip to memory lane
I loved this video! It's so fun to hear all the little details, from the drill getting caught in the hair to all the authentic products! I love how excited you are telling it all, sooooo fun!
Thank you for a walk down your memory lane
That's so cool that you still have all of those things to show us!!! Thank you!
Desperately Seeking Suzie! Brilliant video, thanks for the memories!
its so obvious you two love what you do, and we love to watch you
I was born in 1988 , was always fascinated by long press ons and stickers.
I love the old photos!!! 🥰
The 80’s ARE coming back! My youngest daughter is graduating high school this year and all the boys have permed mullets... I kid you not! This was so fun to watch, thank you for the time travel!
Please make a 90's, 00's, 10's! I'd love to see the evolution of products and trends. The editing and music are also a bonus!
I absolutely loved watching this video! I was born in 1987 and seeing how things were done in the decade I was born in was amazing.
I wish you could do a 90s video too! Would be so awesome! With all of your knowledge it would be amazing to see all the change of trends throughout the years. 💗
Such a great video, thank you xx
I loved living in the 80s. Life was much simpler back then. Thank you for bringing back some good memories.
Would be amazing if you made a video where you took each finger and made each nail a style from one of the almost 4 decades you've been doing this. So an 80's nail, 90's nail, 2k's nail, 2010's nail, and a nail from today in the 20's.
Omg that’s a great idea! I hope she does it
There is nothing i love more than watching people on a nostalgia-trip through time! I have no affinity with the 80's whatsoever, but just seeing people so excited gets me excited, too!
I love the 80s music, aesthetics, technology, etc so this video was a real treat! The musical montage, mwah ✨
Seeing the unpinched form and how it affected shaping the nail was really helpful for me
Absolutely loved this episode!! I remember getting my nails done in the 80's and the colors were so vibrant. I'm a new nail tech and can't help but want to do my nails 80's style 😁 You're awesome! (Cameraman too!)
This is such a delightful video, both for Suzie’s storytelling and her enthusiasm. And those gloves!
As soon as your outfit changed I was like “ohhh yeaaaa!”
Watching this feels like an honor, thank you!
I love the editing so much it’s perfect! The way you present is perfect too. Excellent nail channel 👏
I just love watching her she brings a smile to my face every time.
Wow, you brought back some fond memories. I started getting acrylic pink and white in 1986! Love my manicurist. Now I need to look through my 1989 wedding photos to see what my nails looks liked. 😂
The nostalgia of those photographs warmed my heart!
im a 00's kid and i learned so much from this video! can we see a 90's nail next 👀
I'm so happy acrylic has come this far. The millions of colors available are amazing.
The 80s was such an epic time. I'm a 96 baby, but everything is so nostalgic from that period. Long live the 80s!
Oh my gosh I’m 54 and I loved the 80s. Simpler and fun times. I always did my own nails. Just with polish. Pink with black polka dots. I loved a dark brown color as well. Even though it wasn’t popular.
I'm completely stuck in the 80s so this video is perfect for me! 😍
I agree- 80s was a magical time
Oh my gosh! Your salon was the most beautiful salon - I started going in 1990, and they looked so similar in style - but no where near as chic! And I have to say - I love 80s/90s nails, you did them so beautifully ❤
As a Cosmetologist since the 80's..... I Love the 80's.... then and now!!! Beautiful nails!!
Remember when the gel's came out and the lamps were HUGE & HOT HOT HOT!!! Good times!!!
This video brought me right back to my youth! Love the 80's vibe and those French manicured nails! That cherry bing nail polish was soooo my vibe! Thank you Suzie! 🥰
This is reminding me of going to the nail salon with my mom when I was a little girl!! 😆I remember getting my nails done very similar to that in the 90’s too!
OMG great memories I was 15 in 1980 and wore my nails like this all through High School , it really was the best decade
Susie, these nails you did are PERFECT! I had those exact nails for years. I had the hardest time perfecting my smile line back when I started as a nail tech. They are still my favorite to this day. I’m from New York, and trust me, girls are still rocking this look, in New Jersey too! Watch Jersey Shore! Snooki nails! Loved this video!
I am super sick with a fever and everything. I’m camped out on the sofa binge watching your videos because you’re so comforting like a favorite auntie. ❤
When Suzie hasn’t aged from eighties to now🤭🤭
Thank you for this amazing throwback! I went to school in 1993 and I remember doing nails this way and I sometimes catch myself going back to old habits! They look stunning! Thank you Suzie!! You rock
Wait, I actually love these. Let's bring them back
1980s best time of my life!! Nails,Big hair, lots of makeup, jewelry, music!! Thank you so much for this awesome video!!💅
French is my fav, if im paying to have my nails/toes done its always French because i can paint my nails any color at home but i cant make gorgeous french nails to save my life 🤣
I love French nails too. They’re always my go-to for special occasions; they’re so classic and clean-looking.
i was born in the 80's and still a fan of square french nails now:-) Very cute video. Thank you suzie
I wonder .... if you’re gonna set a new trend with this video 😁🤗
Love this! I graduated in 87. We had the big hair and I always had pink and white all the time. I still love it so much!!
Those 80s nails are actually prettier than most of today's styles 💅🏼❣️
I started getting my nails done in the early 90's. My nail tech had an awesome technique of filing my nails to make a beautiful narrow subtle C curve. Very natural looking. She did most of the work with hand files. She was in her late 40's then and had been doing nails a LONG time. She retired a few years after we met. I've never seen anyone else with her technique. She truly was masterful in her art.
Omg you look so good in a leather jacket, Suzie! 😄😎
My father still has his rolodex, landline with a cord and a flip phone 😆 this might be my favorite videos that you made
