the less rounds of swiss actually makes sense: 5 rounds for 32 players is to get a distinct 1st place with 4 rounds you cannot get a distinct 1st place 'fairly' but top 8 is still the 8 players that did the best in 4 rounds
You'd be surprised how friendly players are in the OCG. Most of the people I just met end up being long lasting friends. Probably because I just give away some of my cards.
dont forget that japan is ocg, but ocg isnt just japan only. tournamnet structure in japan is exclusively and vastly different from what every other country is used to, based on their limitations and prizing available
as a tcg player having to play ocg in Tokyo starting from this year myself this video was super useful! I saw there's plenty of free tournaments during the week days too, at least in Tokyo: are they really giving out prizes at free ones as well?
Yeah, playing in the OCG is on my bucket list along with playing in Europe maybe in the future as i get my health in order but one thing i have been doing the past few years to steal wins is to use decks from the OCG at TCG tourneys with some mods for maxx c, and it has gotten me some wins a lot of the time
Where can I get those YCS Japan Tearlaments sleeves? I have tried searching for them online, I can't find any, only some other Tearlaments sleeves, but not these ones.
For the one store that I participated in one of a few tournaments. It was intense and fun. I got fourth place and my bujin deck at the time went 2:1 against dracoslayer. I was actually really close to winning the match. Which would have put me in third. Of course there was one sided matches. But of all the things. The dracoslayer guy who was fat. Didn't make it to first if recall correctly. Which was a shame because we both had a very good Yu-Gi-Oh. But i was happy at fourth. At the time the rules of Yu-Gi-Oh where hard for me. For years i had no one to really play with and before the store. Some very unhealthy friends manipulating me. I of course knew things. I wasn't actually bad at the game. But i genuinely had no faith. That fourth place for me. Will forever be important because it really showed how strong of a duelist i actually was. When people talk about the difference when it comes to ocg vs tcg. It mainly comes down to sales. Its the unfortunate truth. Tcg is sales oriented. But tcg players want what ocg players have. The latest card sets, communication, fair prices, and a higher stardard of quality control. Maxx c aside (because different banlist foster different competive environments). The issue i when i read ocg players on Reddit, is that they seem dismissive to this. Sure, we may have things they want. And you know what. Happy to share, but at the same time. Admit that konami does treat the ocg differently from ocg. Proof is in the card pool. We all have our hands in it.
From my experience, I haven't seen OCG players denying KONAMI treats better the OCG than TCG, quite opposite. If anything, they only raise issue with the TCG players when they are treated for fools, or overtly condescendingly, due to the differences in competitive gameplay. Granted the regional split, that's because Mr. Head of the TCG, Kevin Tewart, wants the Japanese several meters away from his work area. Look no further than Master Duel to see the difference in treatment, starting with it being OCG-compliant despite being a global game
It's a stretch and if this isn't allowed to ask here I'm sorry! Does anyone know any OCG content creators? As a TCG player it's hard to locate those channels since I only see, well, TCG content on this platform
I have a question regarding the usage of tcg cards in the ocg. Can you use them in official tournaments or in unofficials only? Also, when the tcg came out did you have a discussion with ocg players about the new list?
Hi I am a OCG player in Seoul , South Korea. Unfortunately, for my OCG local tournament, we can’t use English TCG cards or Japanese cards , but only allowed to use Korean OCG cards for any tournament👍🏻
Bro the tease, ain't no way you play Rescue-Ace and give no impressions about post-DUNE gameplay. I'm curious, what were the Gem-Knights and RDA in ED for?
this was something that slipped my mind! in the unofficial tournaments most of them allow you to use Foreign cards aslong as you have a translation of some sort if you're asked for one
Awesome result! Love R-ace, playing in the tcg and can’t wait for the ocg support to hit in DUNE Can you explain the gem-knight cards in the Ed and Red dragon archfiend? haven’t seen them played yet 7:00
Way more competition for other card games. In the west we realistically have Yu-Gi-Oh, magic or Pokémon to play. Decks also average 300 in Yu-Gi-Oh minimum meaning konami know most players won't leave because they've sunk alot of money into playing at a competitive level
OCG prize support is not that great when you're talking about official tournaments. You get tournament packs, which only contain 2 cards, one of which could potentially be a super. If you get first place, you get a promotional pack containing a parallel rare version of two of those supers. Prize support for yugioh day, the day new sets drop, is much better. You can get deck boxes and playmats.
@@peternishimura I guess that's better if you prefer getting playable cards. But getting 400 bucks for winning a 32 person tournament sounds way better to me, because then you can just buy the cards you want.
This is soo fresh, because every time I hear/read about OCG from TCG perspective, what they do just taking about Maxx C.
To be fair, that is the most important difference
I mean Maxx C is like the most broken card in yugioh, so it's a pretty relevant difference
Master duel also have maxx c
And probsbly how OCG csrd quality / rarity distribution is better than TCG, especislly price of the csrds overall.
Maxx C isn't broken @@jadegrace1312

Biggest thing that helped me playing in japan was hand gestures. Made communicating way easy
I'm already excited about the stories you will tell on stream any minute now

This was cool and insightful

I just moved in Japan, do you have any shop you recommend for playing? And any tips to register to tournament there? Thank you !!😊
Thanks for the info! I'm hoping to head to Japan next year, what are your top suggestions for things to do while there?

This is why free simulators will forever be the true backbone of YGO, as opposed to nostalgia/addiction.

Nope. In our SEA OCG we can't use TCG or Chinese/Korean cards either
I love your videos Vlad! I hope you uploaded more.
When is the new Endymion 2023 deck profile?
If I want to lose to Maxx "C" all I have to do is start master duel!
Or a better simulator.
Just play Floowandereeze, problem solved.

Thanks for giving some insight in the ocg tournament scene!
Did u buy different ocg sleeves - are some of those for sale?

i dont know why but this video gives me Bo Burnham vibes
How was rush duels?
Loved this
I wonder how much does your deck cost if you bought the ocg ver. Should be around 150 dollar right?
Time to go to Japan 😂 seems like a very fun place

Is that a catepiller on your lip?
his name is Terrence
So you were able to play English printed card at an ocg tournament nice
Did you Play with Tcg cards?
Do you have to play ocg cards or can you use tcg copies?
In unofficial tournaments you can probably just use any cards you have access to.
Usually in OCG official tournament, you can only play with OCG cards. Because OCG is cheaper, I think he can build a fresh deck easier.
this was something that slipped my mind! in the unofficial tournaments most of them allow you to use Foreign cards aslong as you have a translation of some sort if you're asked for one
literally no one cares about the language of the cards in ocg, dweller for example was super cheap in english a while back so some people used it
@@redreboot483 Uhh no lol. English cards are illegal to use in the official OCG tournaments.
Did they let you play with english cards or did you have to pick up OCG copies of your whole deck before the events?
You can play tcg cards on the “unofficial” events.
But ocg card so much cheap
Awesome result! Love R-ace, playing in the tcg and can’t wait for the ocg support to hit in DUNE
