I actually sought out this video.... I'm 24. A size 4. I don't mind showing skin. I still own bikinis. But I'm just tired of the straps and the strings and the adjusting and the maintenance of bikini season. I'm finding that sometimes modest swimwear makes me feel more confident. I can run and jump and play and just be myself without the worry of falling out, being stared at, or being uncomfortable. There are very very few youtube reviews of modest swimwear. I apologize if her ads are annoying (I haven't seen any). But this content is actually really helpful for me.

What's fascinating about this girl is that she implies that her views are an alternative to the liberal mainstream while acting just as fake and manufactured as mainstream celebrities and TV hosts, something young people of all political persuasions are rejecting en masse. (I assume young women are the audience she is trying to cater to). If you are trying to attract an audience that actually enjoys your content act like a regular person and don't buy ads. If you make good content your channel will grow organically and people will stay around for longer.

So I was actually interested in this one. I am not “a conservative” but I do dress modestly and have had trouble finding swimsuits I was comfortable in. But it was hard to see the actual swimsuit because Abby was so far away from the camera and there was a towel covering half of it, the modeling part wasn’t really modeling anything. As someone who dresses modestly (not to make a statement but because that’s what I’m comfortable in) it makes me wonder whether this is serious or if this is just to get a rise out of people.
I thinks it's serious. My mom made me dress this modestly as a kid. It really sucked. It made me feel even more embarrassed about my body because it sent the message, "you should be ashamed of your body." Why else would I need to cover it up? If anything, telling a little girl to cover up is sexualizing the kid.

Edit: I also watch a lot of lord of the rings, star trek, and doctor who clips and listen to rock, a little rap, and a pinch of metal. Sometimes I listen to classical or folk music. Whatever I listen to, it must be fairly clean. Because of my gender, location, and time, UA-cam regularly gives me adds for anime role play games in JAPANESE about being the concubine of an emperor. Idk what UA-cam thinks I am.
What is the purpose of dressing "modestly" in this way, when she is still concerned about looking "cute," "pretty," "attractive," and have a "flattering" style. Literally I don't understand the goal of being modest if you're still wanting to dress in a way that appeals to others (including your husband.) Someone explain how that's not contradictory. I don’t understand how being modest yet still wanting to look flattering doesn’t make sense to you. Being modest doesn’t have to be ugly. No one wants to look frumpy. You seem to think that if she wants to be modest, she must think that is bad to look cute and flattering. That isn’t the case. It isn’t bad to be flattering, she isn’t worried about that. But over sexualizing your body by wearing provocative clothing is, and that is what she and others who strive for modesty want to avoid.
Hopefully I can explain why two adjectives that are essentially antonyms of one another cannot both describe the same thing. It's because they mean opposite things. Something that is modest by dictionary definition is humble and simple. Specifically when referring to clothing, modest means "not emphasizing the figure" and dressing in a way that "avoids attraction." Flattering, on the other hand, means "enhancing someone's appearance" and "helping to enhance attractiveness." So that word attractive literally comes up in definitions of both words (you can look it up) except one is saying to avoid it and the other is encouraging it. So that's basically what doesn't make sense to me.

What's fascinating about this girl is that she implies that her views are an alternative to the liberal mainstream while acting just as fake and manufactured as mainstream celebrities and TV hosts, something young people of all political persuasions are rejecting en masse. So I was actually interested in this one. I am not “a conservative” but I do dress modestly and have had trouble finding swimsuits I was comfortable in. But it was hard to see the actual swimsuit because Abby was so far away from the camera and there was a towel covering half of it, the modeling part wasn’t really modeling anything.
As someone who dresses modestly (not to make a statement but because that’s what I’m comfortable in) it makes me wonder whether this is serious or if this is just to get a rise out of people.

What is the purpose of dressing "modestly" in this way, when she is still concerned about looking "cute," "pretty," "attractive," and have a "flattering" style. Literally I don't understand the goal of being modest if you're still wanting to dress in a way that appeals to others (including your husband.) Someone explain how that's not contradictory. I don’t understand how being modest yet still wanting to look flattering doesn’t make sense to you. Being modest doesn’t have to be ugly. No one wants to look frumpy. You seem to think that if she wants to be modest, she must think that is bad to look cute and flattering. That isn’t the case. It isn’t bad to be flattering, she isn’t worried about that. But over sexualizing your body by wearing provocative clothing is, and that is what she and others who strive for modesty want to avoid.
Hopefully I can explain why two adjectives that are essentially antonyms of one another cannot both describe the same thing. It's because they mean opposite things. Something that is modest by dictionary definition is humble and simple. Specifically when referring to clothing, modest means "not emphasizing the figure" and dressing in a way that "avoids attraction." Flattering, on the other hand, means "enhancing someone's appearance" and "helping to enhance attractiveness." So that word attractive literally comes up in definitions of both words (you can look it up) except one is saying to avoid it and the other is encouraging it. So that's basically what doesn't make sense to me.

Okay, so like everyone else, I raged and avoided these videos due to those obnoxious, never-ending ads. I finally decided to see just how awful she is. To be honest, I don't think she's _quite_ as bad as I initially assumed (that's really not saying much), but she still preaches some damaging/detrimental ideas to impressionable young girls (this video was pretty harmless, but some others are preachy and rude). *However,* I'm definitely going to stick around for the comments. I grew up too fast and never had a childhood. Is it bad of me to want to give my children what I couldn’t have? Yeah sure when they are 16, it’s natural to start wanting to express yourself in your own way, and as long as she wasn’t going in something illegal, naked, or something I think she would regret later, I don’t care if she would get a bikini. Even though I wouldn’t care, I would still never suggest it. I say this because I would rather have my child come to me and tell me they want to start expressing themselves that way, rather than them not having thoughts like that and then me putting the idea into they’re head. Children should be able to be children. I think that is something many I’d us agree on, no matter our background or political ideas... just look at the outrage over Netflix releasing “cuties”.
