Agreed, I thought it looked stiff like Living Legends but now I imagine that kind of torso-steady running when playing BattleTech. MechWarrior 4, Online and even 3 looked too rough on the pilots sometimes.
Mechs are not horses or camels. What made mechs impractical in the past was lack of AI to make a robot move properly. But AI can do wonder nowadays, and in 3050 for sure AI will not be a problem.
@@josepablolunasanchez1283 I honestly don't know much about the Battletech universe, but wouldn't AI break the whole idea of 'Mech Warriors? If AI exists, it WILL become better than humans, it is inevitable. What stops a "Great" House from fielding as many AI units as they want at that point? Nothing. If AI exists in Battletech, it will destroy the entire idea of 'Mech Warriors. Idk for sure, but I have been assuming that the Battletech universe is stuck on all analog technology. It's not AI, it's directly built circuitry that handles all the calculations. That's why incredibly old targeting systems are still used; it's really hard to further optimize a circuit that is already doing everything you want it to, and adding more would grow unrepairable complexity.
@@Ortorin AI is just like an autonomous car. Unless AI can model all environments and all mechwarriors, AI will never be better than humans. AI has the problem of buggy behavior when it finds corner cases. As for walking, the required AI will be like trying to keep a SpaceX rocket in good position to land. It does not need to be that complex. There are specific AIs for different purposes. For example, cats have extremely good neuron networks for motor skills, but poor ones for environmental awareness. This is why dogs rescue people and cats are being rescued depite being more agile than dogs.
This is pretty neat. MW3 had some features that should have made it into MW4, and then MW5 completely ignored everything that made both of those games so good.
I've only played MechWarrior 2 and 5; and to be honest; i wish i could get back to playing 2 over 5; as much as 5's really the only "guilty mech pleasure" game i can have at the moment.
I wonder if you could make textures to be charred by enemy fire. Check "Battletech fan" youtube channel, video about damage, for reference. I loved the animation. I loved the camera movement. The only great problem of this video is that it is too short.
It's been 11 years, Harpoon.
It's time.
Finally someone who got the walk animation correct so it doesn't look like the pilot is being shaken to death.

I loved the smooth transition from fast-walk to run. The subtle bouncing and the lengthening of stride coming together very realistically.

The way the chase camera is set up makes it look like actual gameplay.
Also, the growling missile lock like on real jet fighters is a nice touch.
Yeah, that was really cool
My favorite chassis in Mechwarrior 4
the timber wolf model looks awesome!
ahhhh mw3 sound effects. some of the best they had

I love the MW3 sound effects.
1:14 I remember that music from Mechwarrior 4
4 Mercenaries to be exact.
This makes me miss MW3 again. Great work!
it would be so cool if this was an actual game. but awesome job!
good old mechwarrior 3 audio
Long live clan wolf
Dude, If your comfortable with Mech Animations, I'm up for negotiating for the footage you already have :)
@PLHarpoon I imagine After Effects for the computer screens then texture projection to polys in 3DS?
@PLHarpoon They are good , but they could use a bigger burst
@k34up
Yup.
Like it?
Try twilight light, adds a more dramatic effect. Not just the color, but the sun angle too.
Mechwarrior belongs to Battletech franchise. It all started with a tabletop game. Search video "battletech catalog".
And UA-cam final say in 2021. You like mechs so watch this
sweet video, what program is this made in?
Verdammt gutes Video ;J Und auch noch mein lieblings MECH =)

You used FumeFX for those explosions?

Great job I want more ;)

The only great problem of this video is that it is too short.
1:19 Linux distro running
Very good work!
Awesome!
Amazing!!!
What could possibly be better? xD
I'd recognize your profile picture anywhere. You are a man of culture
What can be better? To have MORE of this animation.
Could definitely use better overall graphics
