I'm pretty sure Amiami shipped overseas since long time ago, just had to use the JP website. It's not too bad if you get multiple fumos in the same batch and can wait for surface shipping.
Here in the touhou corner of the internet, these's fumos, and then theres cookie. But now there's just fumo, only fumo. Your crying wallet is temporary (supposedly.)
I really wanna buy one, but I don't think 110$ a week aint gonna help me get a legit one. My main issue is that I rather buy a bootleg for 30$ then go "1000$ or nothing" on a fucking fumo, like hey I can have money. But I am broke, and I dislike how almost no one talks how fucking expensive they can be, it's tf2 golden frying pan levels of expensive.
Sometimes people re-sell legit fumos for $45-$80 (I’ve seen ≈$135 as the maximum for a normal fumo) on MFC. May be pre-owned but it’s better than getting scalped.. You just gotta be on the look-out because people buy them quickly.
Me as a person that already spent around $700$ in fumos, I don’t regret, but yeah, those little plushies are really expensive, i mean, I recommend u just buy one if u really wanted, but let’s be real, u don’t need all of those to be happy, and choose the bootleg, are better in price and in some other aspects, but if u really wanted and YOU HAVE THE ENOUGH MONEY TO SPENT, go for it, just remember, be responsible with ur money.

Making a Mega dekai fumo is now a personal dream of mine. Puppy Sakuya in modern SRT chibi style and a Armored Gensokyo Nine ball Cirno sounds awesome too
I swear I’ve seen fumos of so many different characters, but it’s a shame there’s no Faust fumos, I want the one who says she knows everything in Fumo form darn it
I know absolutely nothing about Tohou, yet the art and creations of the community seemingly always leak into my recommendations. I'm not into bullet hell games or much anime in general, but these disinterested and/or smug chibi plushies are too lovable to ignore.
0:33 wait a minute i know that guy Great video! I can confirm that Gift total cost is around $65 per fumo but that was before the fumo base price hike about a year ago. Honestly, I am curious as to where the money goes for official fumos. Who designs the fumos? How much of the money do they get? It's interesting to look at the Fumo Economy in terms of supporting custom/bootleg artists (the distinction between custom vs bootleg is another can of worms). Unfortunately they don't have the characters I want... I think that Fumos are a great example of the spirit of Touhou, where doujin culture allows for little things to have a big impact.
Ay man it all starts with just even the smallest of sparks. Btw before I even knew touhou way back then I always thought that fumo was the actual name of the cirno plush not what that type of plush was called so when I eventually found out what touhou was and checked it out cirno was just fumo to me.
I don't think a lot of Touhou fans really want Touhou to be known by the mainstream, and would much rather prefer it to stay niche. To some people, Touhou is like their little bubble of comfort, and they don't want to risk potentially attracting the wrong crowd towards it, that subreddit is probably a perfect example of this.
I got my first Fumo as a bit of wish fulfillment for my middle school self because I had wanted one for over ten years. Getting one just felt so good. Now I have seven with three more on preorder. My wallet hurts but I love those silly girls, and the community is amazing.
I have a severe form of crippling depression due to the amount of debt that I’ve accumulated over the past few years, it gets worse as each month pasts. It’s fine because I’m doing this for Yuyuko. I am currently sipping on chinese tea, good grief.
A note on international shipping: If you plan on buying multiple items it's worth looking at the specific limitations provided by the shipper to see what the total allotment of weight and cubic area is for one shipment. Most of the Japanese airmail carriers have a restriction of 30kg (72lbs ish) and somewhere around 1m x 1m cubed give or take. If you look at any available weight / volume metrics provided for the products you're buying you can figure out exactly how much stuff can cram into one shipment. The transfer providers like Tenso (That runs Buyee) usually offer holding and combining parcels for a small fee per item. It's possible to order many things from several different places and have them all packed into one box so that a lot of money can be saved on the expensive shipping. You can get 6-8 fumo sized objects in one box and pay one fee.
You don't need a proxy to buy fumos from amiami and the new preorder windows are good but yes they are expensive as fuck and the aftermarket sucks. I own 25 fumos and I have like 10 more on preorder.
Well, my experience buying a fumo was very positive except for one thing in particular, I was scouting for the Futo Fumo for the entirety of 2023 and finally last month it went back on sale on amiami, I didn't have the money at the moment and it took me quite a while to get it actually (starving myself for a week), but the orders stayed open for almost 2 weeks along with the other fumo re-releases, my only gripe is the cost, the shipping took 2 days as soon as the order was confirmed. DHL made me pay ANOTHER 30 EUROS for Customs Clearance, making the total money spent on it 85 euros. The Fumo itself is fine, only problem that I can notice is that one leg is slightly bigger than the other but I stil love her a lot
4:40 punderfull? good video but the research and stuff pertaining to amiami is severely outdated... price wise (at least for me, on the east coast of the US) the price has been a max of 50 w/ shipping, they changed it a while back so that every single fumo is made to order so there isn't much of an issue with their website dying, you don't need to use proxy anymore, and they've re-released a bunch of "old and rare" fumos. I get your points but there are definitely sometimes when you can 100% tell the difference between bootlegs and regulars in terms of quality; still, bootlegs have gotten quite good, are marginally less expensive, and you don't have to wait a whole ass year to get them so I can agree with you there.
Anyone besides me remember an episode of "Arthur" centered around Woogles? This is that episode NOW. Feeling old yet? 3:20: Forest of Illusion. (Lotsa Super Mario World 1 sounds here in general, too.) :D 3:59: lol @ Selena Gomez-head Reimu on Thanos 10:09: Dat flute remix of U.N. Owen. Freedom eagles. "The fumo scalper as a Touhou character" -Wouldn't that be Marisa, stealer of precious things?
Sorry to correct you about ONE critical thing: there is *no such a thing* as "bootleg" fumos. Why? Because first, nobody ever said that Gift is official at creating plushies for the franchise. Second, all the other sellers don't advertise their plushies as "FumoFumo", even less pretend that those are manufactured by Gift, but as "Touhou plushie" produced by whatever company. Which means that they are just as legit as Gift, and quite possibly much more fair when it comes to availability and whatever. As for the difference in quality? Sorry, but it DOES exist. I own both "bootleg" (I really hate that word) and Gift versions of Alice and Flandre. It's subtle, but the Gift fumo is higher quality: better fabric, finer details, the general shape and joints are more accurate. ANd more importantly, the Gift fumo will most certainly be able to sit without falling on the side. Does it warrant the difference in price? Yes, definitely. But there's one "detail" that you forgot regarding Gift fumos. If you look at its tag, it's written "Made in China". Yes, China! And then Gift sells them from Japan and make you pay those absurd shipping fees with the shipping companies taking their generous toll, while they could just have the factories distribute straight from China! My advice: if you're not too picky regarding the quality of the plushie, go for a WishToys plushie. They're manufactured in the EU, very good quality (though not as good as Gift), and you get it for nearly half the price, all expenses combined. And they do manufacture the unholy Tsukasa. Very last note: thanks to Touhou fumos, many other franchises started selling their own fumos. And honestly, when you see the quality of many of those, you get more and more convinced that the 35 bucks base price from Gift is actually very, very fair. You simply get a big loss from their poor distribution.
the deep fried fumo heart me internally as someone that wants to purchase a fumo but is too frugal and lazy to get a good price on a good one (impossible challenge)
Because some people want to pony up for the official stuff. Plus, there’s also the idea that the people helming gift are older bubble-era types that really don’t want to expand and take the risk of collapsing their demand. It’s something that has been occasionally getting commented on, and it help explains some of the weird business practices you will see with Japanese companies.
You know what is interesting? There's actually a Nendoroid Plus for Reimu and Marisa. I happened to own bootleg versions of them. They are nearly forgotten due to the existence of Fumo dolls. They came out around the time when fumos for the two characters also came out. Their size is similar to the medium sized fumo that's only recently released. Oh, I beg to differ on the keychain ones that was ignored. Apparently, it was ignored on the first batch. Subsequent ones seems to sell out. I know that, cause I was on the first batch of buyers. After that, I missed all the subsequent sales. There's one thing i suspect. A possibility i find is that some bootleg fumos are possibly rejects. Given original fumos are also made in China. And now, we have an Azur Lane (and Hatsune Miku) fumo by GIFT. But they don't outsell Touhou ones, ironically. Until the actual fans find out about it....late. Like with me for GIFT-Fate Stay Night plushies. 😂
I still can't help but find it amusing that the reason those little dinguses even existed in the first place was because of freaking Sakuya, my no.1 favorite Touhou character. I knew Inu-Sakuya was a thing, but I never thought that version of her in particular would become the progenitor of this entire fumo subculture. Wow... way to go, SK. Since I've never purchased any fumos to this day, I should probably be proud of myself for dodging-- or, rather, grazing the bullet hell that is the desire for fumo, thus my wallet and my bank account never have to scream in anguish from having to pay for these plushies.
Fun fact from brazil: the import tax is 92% for anything costing more than 50 dollars (250 reais), around 25% for anything below, and shipping charges can break the 100 reais mark, which translating to dollars, is 20 So you know that deka satori? Its 15K reais Even those 25 dollar bootlegs are still silly priced for a brazillian like me also yes i got into touhou because of fumo memes how could you tell

17:12 madoka magica broo, youre a person of culture
2:35 InuSakuya was a really big thing back in the day because Yuyuko called Sakuya a "dog of the devil" back in PCB, and everyone ran with it hard
7:26 OH MY GOD THAT IS SO CUUUTE!
This is the perfect cosplay, Ran and Chen but actually correct!
"A community who can literally change the world"
Literally Pope Francis have a copy of Undertale, created by Toby Fox, a touhou fan, so it's true.
and then Toby follab with TouHou for a music piece
amazing video! very well researchead and funny i learned a lot of things about Fumos i never heard about! im glad i found your channel, keep up the great work
1:28 This is proof that I'm the only person to watch that video.
Still waiting for that Mystic Square Review you promised at the end of that.
11:32 No one in their sane mind would want to talk about this THING
I'm genuinely very happy that I got into Fumos. For me it became a Hobby that brought me so much fun over the years. This Hobby means a lot to me and it has changed my life in many great ways
Will anyone ever pay attention to Nendoroid plus?
never
You know what funny, bootleg inu sakuya also found in AliExpress
You hurt fumos, I hurt you.
Why I like fumo:
"It's smug appearance mocks me"
I'm pretty sure Amiami shipped overseas since long time ago, just had to use the JP website. It's not too bad if you get multiple fumos in the same batch and can wait for surface shipping.
Here in the touhou corner of the internet, these's fumos, and then theres cookie.
But now there's just fumo, only fumo.
Your crying wallet is temporary (supposedly.)
I get dark energy from the Suwako Fumo ngl something disturbing coming from that one
The current gift situation is like the p-bandai gunpla situation but 10 times worse WTF
There's no way Suwawako abused a Suwako fumo 😭
Frog on frog violence
17:37 is my reaction when I found cirno and marisa fumo pre-order in amiami already closed
Every Japanese Seller: "Nooooo, why do people buy bootlegs!!! Our OG products are the best ones!!!!!"
Also japanese sellers: Produces a batch once a year, do not sell overseas
Wow! Fantastic video,I, in behalf of my Fumos, I will speak for them:
Fumofumo,fumofumo.Fumofumo?Fumofumo,fumofumo?Fumo.
first touhou youtuber that i can genuinely enjoy watching & isn't a total pervert that makes me want to stop using the internet 🔥
well the thing you mentioned at 18:00 worked now interested in the touhou community and everything
thank you suwawako moririya for this video it helped me a lot on an actual essay i am turning into my actual english composition class (we had to write an ethnography essay on a subculture of our choosing and i chose the fumo subculture)
i hope i get a good grade!
It's Such a Shame that there's no Fumos of both Metal Gear Solid And Resident Evil Characters....
Can say it like somewhat collector stuff since most of them are limited during pre-order and unavailable after that mean they will be very rare to find and that when these dude who have multiple copy of them will start doing busniess and you know how that go.
16:59 watching this with my own Lily Fumo nearby. Maybe shes a bootleg, but i love her all the same
Watching this while owning an official deka fumo from Gift is both hilarious and sad because I’m broke…
I currently have 2 fumos
Quite fun(ky) to have but quite expensive
Making a Mega dekai fumo is now a personal dream of mine. Puppy Sakuya in modern SRT chibi style and a Armored Gensokyo Nine ball Cirno sounds awesome too
Fumofumos are so precious ᗜˬᗜ
I swear I’ve seen fumos of so many different characters, but it’s a shame there’s no Faust fumos, I want the one who says she knows everything in Fumo form darn it
Not just Fumo, there are plenty of plushies made by Gift that after years, they never want to re-stock it (like the Infinite Stratos plushies)
11:31 my smile dropped instantly.
Same
7:29 & 8:19 I was half-expecting myself to not be in your video, but I was wrong, lol.
I know absolutely nothing about Tohou, yet the art and creations of the community seemingly always leak into my recommendations. I'm not into bullet hell games or much anime in general, but these disinterested and/or smug chibi plushies are too lovable to ignore.
0:33 wait a minute i know that guy
Great video!
Btw before I even knew touhou way back then I always thought that fumo was the actual name of the cirno plush not what that type of plush was called so when I eventually found out what touhou was and checked it out cirno was just fumo to me.
fumo the fairy :D
I don't think a lot of Touhou fans really want Touhou to be known by the mainstream, and would much rather prefer it to stay niche. To some people, Touhou is like their little bubble of comfort, and they don't want to risk potentially attracting the wrong crowd towards it, that subreddit is probably a perfect example of this.
We respect fumos in this house.
I got my first Fumo as a bit of wish fulfillment for my middle school self because I had wanted one for over ten years. Getting one just felt so good. Now I have seven with three more on preorder. My wallet hurts but I love those silly girls, and the community is amazing.
This video is kinda really outdated now because Amiami does Made2Order now instead of just normal preorders. So everybody who wants a fumo gets one.
I have a severe form of crippling depression due to the amount of debt that I’ve accumulated over the past few years, it gets worse as each month pasts. It’s fine because I’m doing this for Yuyuko. I am currently sipping on chinese tea, good grief.
A note on international shipping:
If you plan on buying multiple items it's worth looking at the specific limitations provided by the shipper to see what the total allotment of weight and cubic area is for one shipment.
I bought a real deka Satori off Buyee for less than $600, I don’t know where everyone else is looking.
Because people like suwawako is encouraging bootlegers instead of educationg people
"less than $600"
yeah. Normal, well-adjusted non-manchildren totally shill out a month or more worths of rent on a silly touhou plushie
You don't need a proxy to buy fumos from amiami and the new preorder windows are good but yes they are expensive as fuck and the aftermarket sucks. I own 25 fumos and I have like 10 more on preorder.
25 (well, 35) fumos… I need to see your collection 🙏
Well, my experience buying a fumo was very positive except for one thing in particular,
I was scouting for the Futo Fumo for the entirety of 2023 and finally last month it went back on sale on amiami,
I didn't have the money at the moment and it took me quite a while to get it actually (starving myself for a week), but the orders stayed open for almost 2 weeks along with the other fumo re-releases, my only gripe is the cost, the shipping took 2 days as soon as the order was confirmed.
DHL made me pay ANOTHER 30 EUROS for Customs Clearance, making the total money spent on it 85 euros.
The Fumo itself is fine, only problem that I can notice is that one leg is slightly bigger than the other but I stil love her a lot
4:54 Brasil Tax. Do the L, you choose between a plush or staying alive, it's your choice
(Lotsa Super Mario World 1 sounds here in general, too.) :D
3:59: lol @ Selena Gomez-head Reimu on Thanos
10:09: Dat flute remix of U.N.
14:18 that's literally me :D
Fumo
The marisa bootleg you have on the left earlier was actually decent looking
Ahhh, games in Touhou universe. I guess author of video still didnt see mods for Doom where Touhou can be total madness
jokes on them iam half japanese and i used to live in japan when i was young so i can order from japan to canada without needing a middle man
"It's likely you've seen a robot be stuffed into a fumo"
But wait if a fumo has a robot inside it, does that mean it can run Doom?
Yumemey's the very reason why I got into Fumos in the first place, and now I have 49 of them. All of them are normal Fumos though.
that one post called “I have an intense love for Okuu…”
Strange creatures to be honest.
more reasons to get yourself a fumo
and more reasons to consider your expenses
Fun fact from brazil: the import tax is 92% for anything costing more than 50 dollars (250 reais), around 25% for anything below, and shipping charges can break the 100 reais mark, which translating to dollars, is 20
So you know that deka satori? Its 15K reais
Even those 25 dollar bootlegs are still silly priced for a brazillian like me
also yes i got into touhou because of fumo memes how could you tell
Brasil tax is real 😢
