Matt, remember. It isn’t a crash, it’s a rapid unplanned disassembly.
Smellfish 😆 lmao
Did you also watch how NOT to land an orbit rocket booster by SpaceX?
Davin Schalkham-Wallace yes, I have
@@844SteamFan one of my favorite YT vids of all time
Davin Schalkham-Wallace seconding this. Some of the early explosions are timed with the music which makes it even funnier imo
The reaction of not having enough electric charge is pure gold.
I’ve had this happen so many times
“Put the whiskey down, Matt”
I always end on the other side
Putting everything on simplest rockets, cuz maybe, just maybe i will need it somewhere
then my little rocket become 500 parts monstrosity
every
single
time
Why cant I operate this monstrosity I call a "space craft"
He has a fair reaction
Try setting the reaction wheels to “SAS only”, then you can keep SAS on and it’ll help fight the flipping.
This usually works really well for me when I do rovers
That's what I do
Yes listen to this guy, this little trick has saved countless rovers of mine from various engineering flaws
After so many years it is obvious. Also You can setup controls in docking mode to control directions with arrows and inclination with WSAD.
Yeah, thats what i do for minimus rovers to make them drivable
"Please put the whiskey down"
“Why are you in the shower”
"Just leave me be"
whiskey makes everything better
What if his boss sees this
Tesla tequila
If you never sat in the shower dressed like a mad scientist crying while drinking whiskey, you've never played Kerbal Space Program.
30 minutes in my flight I was gonna send a space station module to the Mun. Forgot the probe module.
MEGA OOF
Same in sfs

Ouch
Hi matt, just wanted to say that i love your content. I think It's kinda funny bc i mostly watch velocity lake even though I don't play planet coaster, guess I just think you're funny. Just wanted to say thanks for giving me a laugh
Yes cube.. Exact same 🔥🔥
Yup
He could do a commentary of a black screen and we would watch
@@thatguywhowouldnotsharehis2062 Matt's screen reviews
Wholesome
Set the reaction wheels to SAS only, then the sas will hold the attitude, without being influenced by the control inputs you make.
Life saver for my minmus rover- it at least kept it upright, when I was bouncing
I didnt thought of that, So thanks, you made my rover missions easier
it's officially almost 3am and I'm laughing at Matt suffering in the shower because he made the exact same blunder I did earlier today
You’re showering at 3 am?
Earlier that day?!
YOU DUTCH OVEN YOUR CATS??!!!
You're a racoon?
"Just leave me be..."
That was a modern day whisky review! ^.^
"Put the whiskey down"
I laughed more then I should. Love you Matt xD
me: sees matt have a mental breakdown
also me: *IS THAT A BOTTLE OF JACK DANIELS OLD No.7?*
It sure is!
19:28 Whiskey review is back baby!
I can already tell this definitely, definitely won’t crash.
Stronk Soviet engineering, of course.
The rover flipping over *immediately* and destroying the robotic arm is extremely relatable
I have to really like a UA-camr to subscribe, but you tell great stories, explain things really well, inspire me in ksp, and make me laugh. Keep it up Matt. Subscribed
I wish they would have added first person on kerbal EVAs. It would look amazing if you were able to see from the kerbal's perspective.
There is a mod for that.
“I wanted to have some sort of, realistic layer”
Video Title: The Fast and flip-rious Rover
Edit: no he changed the video name reeeeeee
Ha I found the original name
The shower scene had me busting out.... the reason I can't stop watching this channel, the humor around KSP! Glad to know I am not the only one to retreat into the shower fully clothed with a bottle of whiskey during my games!
*Matt* : Behold ... my turtle
I kid you not, I was sitting there hoping he was gonna strap the rover to a rocket and launch it... and he did. My god, I am so happy.
How else did you expect he is gonna put it on Duna?
@@samyak5386 the warp??
@@on_top. he doesn't use cheats in his videos, the movie was the only exception

A tip on flippy rovers for everyone: Play around with wheel friction settings (to those who can't find it - I believe you need to have "advanced tweakables" enabled - or whatever they're called). In my experience, it's better to have low friction and have the vehicle slide around a bit than have it flip all the time xD Also, a vehicle with the wheel base wide and short will be less prone to flipping but more likely spin out of control. Narrow and long will give you the opposite effect so you need to find the sweet spot.
And as for Matt and his video - really cool, as usual. The rover design is really nice to look at :D
The escape velocity of Phobos is 24 mph and Deimos’ is 13 mph. I could run on Deimos and be launched into space
The remains of the decoupler actually looks really good, almost Star Wars-y looking engine. Also it can stand on the surface which is a plus. Also nice!
Here's a tip (pun intended) if you right click on the reaction wheels, you can select "Pilot only", "SAS only", or "Both"(standard). If you set it to SAS only, it won't start rotating when you press forward, but it will try to keep the vessel pointing in the correct direction.
I can just hear AGAIN in my head throughout the surface expidition.
I just embrace the fact, that it will flip and add wheels on the roof. Now, it could still land on the sides, so I also add a telescoping piston on each side. When extended it will topple over to one of the two good sides. The ruggedized wheels have a higher impact tolerance than max speed, so there really is no failure scenario. Have fun racing carefree across any surface.
Ah, yes, my favorite DLC... Graking Bround.

Literally my favourite ksp UA-camr.
Hey Matt!
Quick tip if you want to get rid of those dark lines showing when you zoom in.
Disable ambient occlusion in TUFX
U can do it temporarily by clicking the icon in game and selecting "edit" or by removing the "ambient occlusion" settings in the config file you are using
Some Kerbal: speed and ridiculous stuff that should not be possible in KSP?
Matt: Y E S
Woah 22 likes thats the most I've ever had thank yo
Everyone's talking about the whiskey in the shower. That was funny, but what really got a chuckle out of me was "He knows no dear. He knows no danger. Some say he knows nothing at all."
The greatest ssto mission: Landing on the sun!
A place where no heat shield can survive
Thanks for all the great content Matt! Loved into the warp btw, got into iggy pop from that trailer lol

You can modify max speed and torque of the wheels to balance your rover movements and not flipping It, also you can block accel and torque. I found this settings so fucking useful to drive Rovers without crash them.
For duna Windows, I just use a folded post-it note because its just something I always have. Kudos to the redditor who shared this!
"Like an air raid siren"
That's just a preview of the next season of 2020.
Uh oh
Into the warp was great! Your videos always really get me itching to give KSP a try.
I one circumnavigated Duna in a curiosity rover recreation I did. I think I quicksaved every minute of the mission, as unless it was in a flat, if the rover hit a bump a millimeter high it would fly into the air at 10m/s. The rover worked perfectly on Kerbin, I guess Duna’s gravity just likes to bully rovers.
(mental breakdown)
Matt, Matt..
*Please put the whiskey down*
(Hahaha)
Hey Matt I really love your videos, they inspire me to do cool stuff in KSP even though I'm not very good at it :) have a good day
I don't think "hopefully" is a word an egineer should ever say.
It's probably fine
"Yeah, I'll just eyeball it"
i mean, i dont even play KSP or know whats going on half the time, but i think all your series are cool and would love to see outpost creation series on ever stellar body, especially the spooky, distant, and difficult ones
Very creative design!
A bit of feedback from a recent subscriber - I only recently started playing KSP, so I don't have a lot of the knowledge that you might take for granted. If you're struggling for stuff to say at different times in the video, talk about what parts you used for the current operation. Your description of how to effectively orbit on this video was really useful and I could have learned even more by knowing specifically which engines were firing and why you selected them. Thanks for these videos, they've really kick started my foray into KSP.
Hey Matt, if you set the SAS wheels on the probe-cores to SAS only, it won’t do frontflips but will still stabilize.
this looks so nice!!!
Awesome video Matt
I can't wait to build this later! 😁
Matt's work story is the closes thing to social interaction I've had all week.
This is the kind of video I'm here for tbh. Sure, your full length movies are awesome too.
But these smaller kinds of missions with a loose, chill attitude and lots of goofing around, occasional rl memes... Thats the real good stuff
HEY! This came out 4 days before my birthday! It's a coincidence that it's one of my favorite videos, behind strange cats
Glad to see those Thuds in action
I wish you do more Duna series
(This is why your vids helped)
This is the first video i watched after getting my new phone
Awesome!
Edwin Robert which phone?
Yes Matt we watched it and i loved it. Respect
I loaded KSP as you were doing the crashing montages, fits far too well.
Thank you so much. You are the reason I know about KSP .
I find RCS is the key to accurate manoeuvres. I do a lot of rendezvous reliant missions, so most of my craft have RCS anyway, but I typically put a couple of forward and backward thrusters at least on my craft so that I don't need to spin right the way round if I overshoot by a fraction of a m/s. You can adjust each axis accurately in turn even without a full setup, and your command pods typically have enough monopropellant storage on their own.
19:04 made my day!
I just notice the shroud of the engine had disappeared!
After Matt said...
YES SHOWER MATT HAS RETURNED! I love this running joke
Hi Matt great content as always. Just want to add that to prevent a rover to flip, you con use atmo engine oriented to the sky and set gyros on SAS only + antiradial lock. This will give you a kind off autostabilization system ;-)
Seems a bit more unique than a lot of your recent videos, keep it up!
Niiiice! It would perfectly match the demo of Occupy Mars!
I love the content! Keep up the great work!
The alarm story started me thinking it may of been the dock yard siren but then the hospital maybe a little to far to hear it go off
It's 2:30 in the morning and I saw this...I was about to sleep...but nope...Matt Lowne KSP is more important than my sleep!😅
Loved "Into The Warp" Matt! Thank you for always making such great content!
19:15 lmao, i lost it. I too have a similar reaction before using alt + f12
Matt: Definitly don`t crash it.
Me: It´s going to crash!
I love this man so much
when you got upset and went into the shower, that was very funny and also very much relatable
17:32 Jebediah casually exiting the rover ;)
Great as usual
The longer and wider your rover is the more stable it will be and having your center of mass more centralized or towards the front will also help
some classic matt lowne-ing here just if u had remembered senceible kerbals
this vid is flippin' crazy
I loved into the warp. Please keep up the movies.

(sorry for bad english) hello matt, i just wanted to say, you make my sad days happy, i love watching how you do all that wacky stuff and go to other planets in ksp, even tho i suck at the game, :)
Matt being proud of his creations
Love youre video's!!
Lol looks like something right out of hitch hikers guide to the galaxy. ..... don’t forget your towel!
Best KSP rover design:)
What I usually do is set wheel controls to ijkl just like translation controls, and then I can use wasd to engage reaction wheels and adjust the attitude of the rover. With this I managed to drive some 20kms on Minmus without losing rover parts, just make sure that the wheels are mostly aligned with the direction of travel while you are in the air and the landing should be smoother.
Oh that is some fancy ancient rotary phone you've got there Matt.
You can make the rover more stable if you set the reaction wheels to 'SAS only ' and then activate SAS
For a stable rover you want the centre of gravity to be as low to the ground as possible and the wheel connection point to be as high as possible. The point is to minimise the rotational moment induced by any sideways force on the vehicle. I'd recommend:
- Flattening the bottom of the vehicle, so that...
- You can increase the height at which you connect the wheels whilst maintaining the same ground clearance, and...
- Putting all the heavy stuff like batteries, etc, on the floor of the vehicle where possible.
You also want the vehicle to be as wide as possible to prevent the centre of mass from moving over the wheels on the side that the vehicle is tipping, so if still unstable after the above:
- Increase the width of the vehicle (though to be fair it is pretty wide already.
If still not stable (and I can't remember if you need a mod for this):
- Reduce the friction coefficient of the wheels, and...
- Reduce the turning authority of the wheels, increasing your turning circle but reducing the chance of over-turning and tipping the vehicle, and...
- Throttle the power and/or torque going to the wheels in the VAB to make it easier to keep it below whatever maximum safe speed you end up with (which will probably always be below 20m/s or even 15m/s on Duna on account of the low gravity unless you really go all out on making something ultra-stable).
I recommend playing with a mod that neuters SAS/ reaction wheels, to learn how to make stuff that is passively stable :)
19:21 this is exactly as I felt the first time I did a dress mission and back on my way back with a perfect trajectory my decoupled kept spontaneously combusting and the heat shield would not be able to deploy it took me 3 hours just to get to that point
That whiskey reaction bit. Too good. I can't
If you set reaction wheels to SAS only you can haul ass across any surface and do some epic crater jumps with little to no danger. 30 m/s stable surface speed with no problems, the Mun is a blast!
It Saturday my dudes!
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
F***ing finally!!
When he was talking about the alarm I was so sure it was going to be that GoodSam app. It really does sound like an air raid siren!
When I need really accurate maneuvers I hold ctrl and tap shift. If you combine this with the thrust limiter then you can get really really precise.
15:58 This part cracked me up, I watched it 3 times, haha.
Your videos are amazing, I can't miss one
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Either you’re extremely short or those door nobs are really high on the door XD
My house was built in the 19th century, it was quite common to have the door handles much higher back then (compared to modern houses) to stop children being able to use them
Matt Lowne, did not know that but wow cool fact😂Keep up the amazing wrk Keith the videos :)
