Thanks!!! Just got the bundle, didn't have a clue!! Great video, keep them coming!!
Exciting!!! Thanks, will do!
So far it works great fishing from the bank
Thanks man this is 50x better than the trash video that Garmin made.
Wow, thanks! Glad it helped!
Thanks! This is the best and easiest tutorial video on how to adjust the Livescope transducer while icefishing. Just what I was looking for! Nice and simple with pics.
Glad it was helpful 👍👍
Great video just got the ice bundle...very informative...keep them coming
Will do! Thanks!
Thank You
Great job of teaching how to use the livescope
Thanks!
Would be nice to see how to use the screen on the scope. Moving to the transducer part is very obvious.
What specifically are you looking for?
Thanks
No problem
Love the simple explanation, I wish I had the 4K so buy one though
👍 They are awesome tools!
Great video, not sure if you've tried this for the ice in your fresh hole, giggity, but if you reverse the auger it rids the ice down under the top ice :-)
Yes! Super helpful tip! Thanks
Alex, how do you deal with the tilt built in for the trolling motor (on the transducer mount)? Some are adding PVC as a spacer. It supposedly makes the bait return show up better
I don't use the hardware that comes with it, I use Summit Fishing Equipment stuff. I would go with this to mount it to your trolling motor, plus it also allows you to use perspective mode too! at.fish/SummitTrollingMtrMount
Such a helpful video - great job! Thanks for making it. Quick question - for the Summit pole, are you using the 18-36" version or the 24-60" one? thanks!
I prefer the 24-60" one
Thanks Alex! I was referencing the bottom transducer. My boat has been in the shop so I went to a dock and screwed in my fishing specialty pole. I even calibrated to 95 % by turning the pole. I was still getting some clutter but easily distinguished fish out to 40 feet. I was surprised however when I threw stones out in front of the transducer I didn’t see them fall on the screen. Was rate of decent too fast for Livescope to pick up? Also noted on this video your handle points at the fish. I swear most folks have the handle pointing back away from the fish. Just curious. Thanks!
Weird you couldn't see the stones, could be the transducer wasn't aimed quite perfectly enough for them to enter it's cone angle, or gain too low. It reacts pretty fast, you should have seen it otherwise. I think the handle pointing is preference by the user, I like mine pointing where the transducer is pointing 👍
Would you be willing to make an in depth view with a good starting point for all the settings for livescope?
Yes I can! Coming soon 👍
Hi, your set up looks great, what do you have all your settings on? Thanks
Thanks! Great question, I will be putting together a video walking through the settings that I have and some tips on how to get the cleanest screen that I've found. Should be sometime within the next week (I want to do it while on the water so it is easier to see the differences).
@@AlexTimm thanks, that would be great to get some tips on that from you. You got yours looking crisp 😊
Hey Alex I caved and bought my first Garmin livescope bundle today. I’ll be using the 106sv with the 34 transducer. Currently I’m looking for a video how you dial in your settings. Did you make a walk through video?
CONGRATS man! Yes, and I think you commented on it (Dialed In thumbnail). I'm potentially going to be doing an updated one this year, but everything on that video is still accurate. 👍
@@AlexTimm that would be awesome! Especially for us Garmin beginners. With the great deals I’m betting will see a lot more livescope users out on the ice this season
What is the price for that unit? Does it come all ready or you have to buy all separate?
Its weird everytime I adjust my livescope ducer to down view mode my garmin screen doesn't switch to down view mode. I have to enter manually to switch it to downview mode. I have a 93sv screen and I did leave it on AUTO and still won't change the view for me. Any tips?
Is that the summit transducer pole ? I have the summit pole but I haven't found the part to hold it above the hole. Does summit make that part ?
Yes it is the Summit pole, and yes they do make it, here is a link to it: t.ly/HOCN
Can u use this ice bundle in summer for kayak open water? Does the screen waterproof in case I flip on the water?
You absolutely can use it year round! It is not submersible but won't be ruined from water splashing on it with the right connectors
@@AlexTimm thanks!
Why did it seem when in FWD mode and you were looking around, in the upper right hand corner the direction (w/ boat) appeared to be showing a different direction than where you were pointing it? If…..that question made any sense.
Good question, it is because I have the icon in the top corner set to have North facing up
Where did you get the mount set up for your transducer?

That's what I used last year and am using again this year, it has held up very well!
How do you get that boat in the top right corner to show you where the ducer is pointing? Also ive never adjusted the ducer for down view, is it neccary?
I'll be putting out a video in the next couple weeks on it, but the way you get that icon is by calibrating your transducer. I would adjust the transducer physically as you will get better returns with the beams shooting out at the right angles
@@AlexTimm thank you Alex
Just bought a 93sv with LS. In process of installing. Made my own independent pole for the transducer. I’m completely confused with the positions of the transducer. Seen tons of videos stating the positions are completely diff on which side of the boat you have it? Why would this be diff than using it on a pole for ice fishing? Doesn’t make any since to me. The chartplotter can’t tell where the transducer is located??? Anybody able to clear this up for me?
Thanks
Matt
The transducer needs to be moved manually every time on how you want to use it. If you want it for vertical fishing move it to the down position and so on...the software can detect the position but it might not be optimized for what you want it to do at that time. If you have a hard time seeing your jig it's because it's not in the right position. Hope this helps
Matt, If you are using it on a pole it does not matter, and is the same way I use it, so I use it as shown in this video. To answer your question, if you are mounting the transducer on your trolling motor, the mounting bracket may work better to put it on one side or the other. Depending on what side (of the boat you could say) you have it when the trolling motor is facing forward, the transducer will be either naturally pointing forward or backward which is why there are two different orientations to make sure you can point it shooting forward even if it is mounted on the Starboard side. Hope that helps, if not let me know and I can try to clarify further 👍
did you catch anything ?
Can it see the weed lines
Absolutely! One of the best features is in and around the weeds, allows you to setup right inside, outside or on top of the weeds
Damn the garmin pole sucks...... do you really have to unbolt it and put in down position and bolt it back on? Or am I doing something wrong here? Please help
I agree! You should only have to loosen the bolt if you have it tightened down super hard, otherwise there should be a rubber washer that allows it to turn without undoing the bolt

Thanks for watching and commenting! Anything in particular regarding the setup you are looking for?
923 OR 8410 UNIT PLEASE ?
I am using the GPSMAP 8610xsv in this video as I can do the screen recording, so the 8410 will be similar 🙂. I am working on more videos to help out and will make sure to put in the description of each which units it applies to. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@AlexTimm
Hello. Thank you for your reply. I watch many videos because I am in hesitation best image budget ratio between echomap 102SV, 943XSV OR 8410XSV for fishing for catfish and pike perch in vertical boat in France
@@valeriecrovilles4028 Sounds good, a few questions that may help: Which transducer(s) are you planning on using? Do you ever want to network them together and have more than 1 screen on the boat? Do you want it surface mounted on a dash or going to use a cradle / gimbal mount?
@@AlexTimm can you screen mirror your livescope unit while away from your unit using the garmin helm app? This would be a killer feature. I'm running the UHD 93sv unit for livescope and this unit does not have that feature but would definitely consider upgrading if the gpsmap can do what I just mentioned.
@ZbassR2 Yes I can with this unit 👍Yeah, as long as you are in range of the Wi-Fi of the unit for the GPSMAP units it works and can be very helpful depending on your use case. I personally have used it most for screen recording for these types of videos.
actually the ducer info is wrong, to go forward for the best clarity and distance, you need to tilt/move the ducer tip up one click, and to do down view you need the top of the ducer flat or horizontal. Now being that said you can use down and forward mode in either position, but clarity and distance will be not the same.
That is correct for the lvs34 but not the lvs32 which is in this video. The info in the video is accurate
Looks like a summit fishing equipment pole.
Yes it is! Used it now for 2 ice seasons and this year out on the boat with the size D Ram ball mount and arms and it works great!
@@AlexTimm That’s what I have.
@@300zxdriver Awesome, how do you like it so far?
@@AlexTimm I like it. My only complaint is that you basically have to be stopped because the pole will swing backwards from the water pressure.
@@300zxdriver Ahh, yes with the Ram mount that they supply it is not very effective over 1-2 mph. I upgraded mine to the D size ball, arm and mounting bracket on the pontoon I fish most frequently out of for open water. We can go 10+ mph with it no problem the way I have it setup now. I'll be putting a video together on it so look for that, it might help you out. The pole itself is sturdy just the torque from the water pressure at speed like you say is the problem 👍
