*Quick trick to try if you have a unit that cannot update to get the Ghost Reject Feature:*
This will somewhat mimic what Ghost Reject does, tilt your transducer up 1 extra click from when it goes into forward mode. You may lose a little definition on the reverse range, but it will point the power a bit more forward. 👍

You know Alex, it's a shame that Garmin has a hard time just telling people the definition of each setting. Their webinars are good but lacking. Excellent explanation of ghost tree setting and fixes. Keep up the great work.

High great video, but I m not sur I understand , i am French and sometime i don’t understand the sense of the word, for me ghost three is a mirror of a piece of wood , or a bad return of the transducer , tell me if i understand, and when you see that of the screen, you need to have a inclinate bracket of summit, If I don’t have this bracket , do you want to explain to me if I need to put ghost reject on off ,or other setting to clear my screen , thank a lot, I asked you two questions on your last video ans you answered to me very well, thank to you again

Is the first image really the ghost tree or a different type of reflection showing the 3 beams. Ghost tree is typically an arc out at the same distance as depth. I think the 2 images have different causes or results.

I got the older garmin echomap plus 73sv. Am I able to get that ghost tree update? It haven't popped up on the active captain app. Or is it not compatible?

No unfortunately not, they stopped supporting the Echomap Plus line a couple years ago with updates

How many feet forward do you usually scan? Max ?

Livescope max that I've found to be ideal is 70 foot forward. If you are in shallow water that will go down though

I can reduce the ghost tree image but the dead spot bothers me more than the tree. Do these fixes help any with that?

Yes, try the angled shaft mount (Tip 3). And then turn your noise reject / ghost reject down and see how low you can have those without the ghost tree. Should help with the dead spot. Out of curiosity, how deep of water are you in when you have the issue?

Ghost tree is also in down view. Dead spot is much bigger issue than ghost tree. Ghost reject settings did not help me any. Problem much worse since Garmin released the Perspective View software update.

Thanks for the reply and watching! Interesting, I've never seen it in down view and the way the sonar acts it shouldn't work that way. Do you rotate your transducer to go to down view or do you just change the setting on your chart plotter? Yeah, I agree that seems like the update that made the problem the worst. As we learn more and figure out better ways to handle it I will be sure to keep sharing.
