You’re correct. That’s the first time James has played the riff all the way through without the chokes in many years. So basically, he played it like it is on the album which is so cool
I remember seeing them in 1989 and how blazing fast they were. They would play hours long sets. It's good to see that they can still play these old tunes with proficiency and speed.
Your reactions are similar to mine. Shit just puts a grin on my face even after all these years. We need to enjoy these guys while they’re still performing cause bands like this just don’t come around often.
I saw them play Fight Fire With Fire back in 2018 in Salt Lake City. Feeling the heat from the flames is always great. Which shows are you going to? St. Louis or Detroit? Can you imagine standing in front of James and Kirk as they are harmonizing guitars? I love Kirk's guitar squeal at the end of the song. He is always on point with that and it sounds like the album recording. Love it!
This was at the SoFi Stadium in LA. Saw both days. My first ever experience of a live show, much less any type of live musical performance, was when I saw them for the black album tour. I was an introverted shy fucker still in high school. I was on cloud 9 for days after that show. I never lost my love for them, but I did stray for the Load through St. Anger albums. I just couldn't get into them no matter how hard I tried. I progressively started feeling the magic again once Death Magnetic came out, but connected again fully for the new album (I love it!) and I had not seen them live for I don't even know how many years. So with all that, I was damn nervous about seeing them live again. It is impossible to match that first experience, of course, but they couldn't have gotten any closer than what they achieved for me at these two LA shows. They crushed it in every way possible. I am extremely grateful I was able to see them for this tour. The new tracks are amazing live! It was definitely a magical weekend for this long time fan.
Metallica in their 40s: "We don't know how much longer we can keep doing this." Metallica in their 60s: "We were so young and stupid back in the 2000s!"
I saw fight fire with fire back when I saw them in 2017 and when I saw them again at MetLife I was absolutely blessed that neither of my encore songs were ffwf I got battery night 1 with the bridge section and blackened night 2 and I lost my mind when I realized it was blackened part way through the intro 😭 (my highlight of the weekend has to be hearing the live debut of my 2 favorite songs on the album (ik what are the odds of that I got shadows follow and too far gone!) but getting to hear Orion and king nothing stole the weekend completely I never in my life thought I’d hear king nothing live and I can’t even begin to describe to you how I reacted when James said “Mr Hammett” and Kirk started the intro because I was expecting until it sleeps)
I have been listening to that version of Chasing Light non stop. I cannot get over how good it is. The voice is unreal, uncanny. Its almost frightening how real it seems. And the thrashy styled alterations to the structure and riffage of the song is incredible. I like the song anyway, but the "Lightning" version is incredible.
And they are playing it faster than the album just like in the good old days!!! This is not a Sunday Brunch band trying to play their Thrash roots song anymore... This is THE THRASH BAND playing the song AGAIN! These guys are back in the game FINALLY!
Regarding how long they can go, it was the same discussion when Hardwired was released. They are "only" 60 now, with todays standards doesnt mean much more than being 40 if we take care of our bodies, and its very clear that they all do that. I wouldnt worry too much, but just make sure to go see them!
its funny how many times in the last like 20 years I heard people say "Metallica cant play fast anymore" and its like, they play almost everything faster live lol
great song and nice reaction. i saw them 4 times in august and they did not play this!! i have seen them play this a lot before as i have seen them 70 times.
Not that it sounds bad, but why is it, that when Lars plays something differently then he did on the album, everyone hates him, but Kirks improvising almost all of his solos and some of them barely sounding like they did on the album, nobody bats an eye or says taht he sucks or gives him hate. (and i repeat, its not that i dont like Kirks solo playing, i just find it weird that Lars aint alllowed to improvise or play differently, but Kirk can practically do a complete different solo during a song and no one cares about that)
At some point it became hip to bash on Lars, whether it was deserved or not. As a result, people never stopped doing it, and look for any little thing to criticize him for it.
Metallica is to old , Lars sucks , kirk can't solo , Robert can't do vocals ....yet it's a sold out concert lol I was there and fuck this video is not justice there all still kicking ass
@@joeltallic5503 I think after 50 years of playing Lars can handle that song without any after show effects. He's one of the best in business despite what pimple faced fheads say.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who noticed. That was such a cool moment. Het still got it
I'm so happy this is the first comment haha I had to replay the intro a few times to enjoy it again and again
Lars casually doong his best double bass work in the past 20 years
I WAS THERE, BABY!!!!!! You best believe i was HEADBANGING!!!!!!
Me too!! Edge of the pit baby!!!
They played Fight Fire With Fire live in Amsterdam at the first no repeat weekend😄
Dudes are 60 years old and still crushing it
I was up front in that show both nights. It was my 14th show and was fucking amazing! I got Lars' stick after this song too!! :)
They played Fight Fire With Fire already a couple times during their M72 tour. Usually its either Blackened or Fight Fire With Fire!
The pyro matching the riff towards the end of the song was a pretty cool touch

Awesome 👍👍 sounds so good almost 40years later.
Holy cow, Lars doing double kick after the solo was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I started watching you from The Flash reactions, awesome to see Metallica on here too!

Hello again from TURKEY brodher. Love you 🤘
This was at SoFi stadium in Los Angeles, August 27th. I was there.
The delay was in Arizona, not Los Angeles.
That performance was fucking awesome
Bro, react to chasing light with ride the lightning style. Its amazing how the AI can play James voice in the 80's

ABSOLFUKINLUTLY AMAZING!!!🤘🍻🔥🥁🎸💕🙏🍻👍👊
You’re seeing them in November? I can’t find them anywhere near us.
Damage Inc was played in Copenhagen last year. It is my all time favorite track. I lost my shit!

Don't agree sorry. 60 is a lot when you have already played thousands of live. Your body is hurt.
Last weeks shows with the delay were in Phoenix, the date/location here is correct
wish they played this when I saw them in Montreal
also yeah it is weird to hear them play the intro more like the record
damn the harmony part was on point
It's in LA
Have you seen if holy wars was on and justice for all?
I see myself
I just love their faster live version, than the original slower studio version. 🤘👍👏

Exactly! I was there as well and they killed it!!!! 🤘🤘
Which November shows? I’ll be in Detroit!
That’s where I’ll be!
Do they play Metal Militia?
Not yet on this tour, they played it a few times last year
Omg Lars is improving! Love to see it.
He's always been good. People just bag him cause it's cool to apparently.
It’s edited

you know at some point they'll have to play escape
Yeah, during the tour in support of the 50th anniversary of RTL. 😂
