They look almost the same but tastes better. **this recipe is the alternative if you do not have honey available. 🍯🙂 I highly suggest to use honey if you have. 😉
Sounds like a nice tea to have, I bet adding some thin slices a ginger would go nice with it too when preserving it for use as tea later. I've heard for those who want to avoid sugar you can use glycerin which is usually found quite cheap from the pharmacy section at least it is in north america like 250ml is maybe 3 dollars. Basically like making a lemon tincture/extract with glycerin.
I've done this and it. makes great lemonade. But I also put 2 cups of it (after it has set for a week) a cup to 2 cups of water, 1/4 cup of sugar (because there is already sugar in the lemon mix) then add 1/8th to 1/4 gallon of vanilla bean ice cream all in the blender and blend. I also add a half cup of vanilla protein powder and..... Caravella, an Italian lemon liquor. You'll get a frothy head (which tastes great) so I put it in the freezer just to where it is about to freeze and then spoon stir the froth into the main body. Either let it freeze completely or drink it cold. Warning! This is super habit forming if you're a lemon lover like I am. LOVE this stuff.
I’m sorry your one is bitter. I never had the same thing with this recipe. The white part of the lemon called pith is bitter but sugar should over power that unpleasant taste. In fact, everytime i make lemon tea from the preserved lemons, I also eat the sliced preserved lemons after finishing my tea because they are no longer bitter. You will see how i make my lemon tea at the end of the video. Thank you for watching.❤️
Did you use Meyer lemons? There is less pith and the Meyer is much milder than traditional lemons. Also, if you live in Central or South America, the so-called "regular lemons" are NOT like Europe, North América, or Australia. They have a far more aggressive pith!!! Totally unsuitable for everything that I'd normally use the entire lemon or orange for!! (Coleslaw, marmalade, cakes, etc)
@Elizabeth Ezell yes, you can. Keep the temperature within 50°F to 70°F. in a clean, dry, dark and cool cupboard. After opening, transfer it to the fridge.
Hi. I haven’t tried using green lemons. I’m thinking the result “might” be bitter. If you will ever try it, could you please share the result to us. We’re all keen to know. THANK YOU from the rest of us!
They need fridge, but they last for many years. I fermented fresh orange peels with honey, ginger, and sugar. I never keep them in fridge. It is about 2 years now, they are still good. The longer you keep, they will produce alcohol flavor, but they never go bad. I regret that I added honey. I have severe pollen allergy, so each time I eat honey, I have a lot of runny nose and keep sneezing. That's why I consume them so slowly. For fermented whole lemons, they even last longer than my orange peels.
@@HomemadewithloveNZbyMrsNeat No Im sorry Mrs Neat, Burt Munro was not an Aussy, he was a New Zealander. And yes, every day he pissed on his lemon tree. To be sure, he asked his young neighbour to do the same whilst he was away in the USA.
@Saloni Chawda. Preserved lemons requires 1:1 ratio of sugar to lemons. You may lose the preserving effect of sugar if u put less than the required amount. Thanks for your comment.
Greetings from Mexico also can we substitute sugar for honey?
Hi @masterxk Good question. Yes, definitely, you can. 😊
Cheers!
@@HomemadewithloveNZbyMrsNeat thanks you very much, also how looks like when using honey? thanks and happy harvesting

How long can they be preserved while unopened?
Surely with salt will last longer but with sugar wonder how long will it last without refrigeration.
Does this have probiotic benefits, like lemons preserved with salt?
Thank you soo much for sharing!!😁😍😷
Sweet
we tried this with green sweet lemon but it turned really bitter. is it good or bad to use?
Thx for the recipe, i already made it, but the taste is so bitter although i already throw the seed, do u know why??

Can it be kept in plastic airtight container?
Yes u can do that. Make sure its clean and dry. But it will not last for too long like the the one in the sterilised jars.
can i store this in room temperature?
Yes you can. But once opened, it needs to be in the fridge to make it last longer.
@@HomemadewithloveNZbyMrsNeat thank you for sharing ~
I preserve the lemons with raw honey a d also with salt
hello, may i know how many jars did you use for 4 lemons? and what are the sizes of the jar?
I managed to make 3 jars. The jars are 300ml. Thank you for asking.
How long will these last in frig or Cubard ??
I'm planning on doing this today, hope you see this and respond thank you
Hi @@elizabethezell8749, generally last for atleast 6 months if done properly.
Thank you for asking.

Watching now 🥰that sure was alot of salt in those 🍋 lemons not good for the high blood pressure 🤔
It’s sugar not salt. This is just right when you’re preserving. @katherine Harris
@@HomemadewithloveNZbyMrsNeat a ha guss I should have paid attention 🥰🤣🤣🤣sugar ok💕🥰

WTF? you made NO mention of the liquid you added to the jar??
@agentames no liquid was added
In the movie, "World's Fastest Indian" with Anthony Hoppkins, he waters his lemon tree every morning by peeing at its bases. LOL. He was Australian
