I cant understand, they just need to program “alright, limits were exceeded. Was he touched around his read end in the last 5 seconds? If yes, no penalties”. I know nothing is as easy as it sounds, but I also can’t understand how difficult this is, the systems are all there..
@Matikkkii I think the biggest issue is that when you get forced into a barrier or off track, the guy that hits you 9 times out of 10 doesn't get a penalty
Have to say the mandatory stop with no need to change tyres or refuel feels almost like taking the Joker lap in Rallycross. The tactics seem to be identical and it really adds something different to the equation.
I like the pitstop... but there are mechanics in the game to make you NEED to pit. Why doesn't GT use them? We had a race like this couple weeks ago... GR4 Maggiore .. the short track. Why not add some tire wear or fuel burn?

Speaking of penalties PD should adapt the Sophy AI tech and apply it to the penalty system where circumstances leading to an incident are analysed then an appropriate penalty applied. Just like Steve at Remus where he got rear ended going into the corner… the AI could easily determine with the real time race info of each vehicle that the fault lay with the too late braking car behind, not the car penalised. Now that’d be a game changer!
I love the Atenza (the 6 as it’s called in the US) I’ve driven a 3rd gen since late 2015. I’d love to drive one like this, tuned for racing!! There were rumors Mazda were going to put a turbo inline 6 rwd system in the 6 which would have been insane... unfortunately they instead stopped selling sedans in the US altogether 😭😭😭
Really enjoyable race! I've learned so much about racing craft from you Steve, I'm going karting in July so hopefully will be able to put some of those tips into practice! Let's go SuperGT!
Bit of an oddball question but what do you think about the change to GT1 slots; giving them only 3 per race? Seems like quite a strong change to the detriment of most people in A to A+ just for the "benefit" of consolidating top split. Feel like there's a fair few ways they could've funnelled top split players into specific slots without limiting the options for everybody.
Best informative commentary as always ❤. RBR is my fav short track, when to pit was strategically important. I raced the non-meta successfully here. Dunno why 😂 I consistently got the 155 & lancer into the low 37s but for the life of me couldn’t get the atenza outta the 39s 😮
I can't really understand why they can't implement a better penalty system. Basically if a mistake is made and you LOST time, you shouldn't get a penalty, period. And if YOU got hit, also shouldn't get a penalty.
Is the Atenza the most dominant right now because of 4WD and the grip with the new physics? I find most others aside from the NSX and Silvia that if you get on the power even a little early the tail end starts to slip. It's so boring when everyone uses the same car.
I'd say having an almost-spec series is interesting as well since the result can then not be put up to machinery not being up to code but only on driver's skill and luck (and, occasionally, the connection to the internet)
I always run into people who fighting for initial benefit, instead of overall position, like those in the video, and sometimes they are annoying. Especially when everyone have chance to win in the lead train, one desperate overdefend can ruins everyone stuck behind him, even if people indicates the sign of willing to work they are still like:" No".
Well done! I love the Redbull Ring in Gr.4 cars. Always wishing for more laps lol. I had 2 similar races yesterday. First one got taken out by an unghosting car and did my best to fight back. Second one did the early pit stop to get out of traffic and worked my way up to P2. But I'm in B lobbies so no where near y'alls lap times.
Really don’t see the point in races with a pit stop and have no requirements for the stop. Too hard on yourself lad another great video 👏🏻 love watching you hone your craft on here
I jumped on for the last race of the day and was mystified at dropping so many spots after pitting - didn't twig to the 'don't change the tyres' strategy, whoops!
Take a drink every time Super GT talks about “working together” to gain time before he immediately goes for an overtake at the very first opportunity, and then talks about how the guy behind him should work together with him, instead of trying to pass, to gain time.
I was playing Gran Turismo 4 on emulator for the past 24hrs on Lemons and the only thing I wanted to see after winning was SuperGT winning as well. I'm sad now.
SuperGT *overtakes car* overshooting slightly “This is the thing I don’t want…cars fighting with me, we should work together” 😂 Of course if you overtake someone and are slower out as a result the car behind you will fight fight for the position back. Either be fast out or don’t overtake if you want to “work together” that’s racing man 😂

The most stupid penalty system I have ever seen. You get screwed because some stupid driver knocked you off the track and then you get screwed again as the game blames you for someone else's stupidity.
Once you said the car was a Mazda the doors to mistakes aplenty opened wide where Speed remains at the pitstop making an oil change. *I am not sponsored by the Manufacturer's Cup.
i don't get how the pitstops are so sad in this games today. In GT4 you had the car always on the radar, as you drove by the pitlane and there was a car getting tires changed then you saw it. You saw the little dot or arrow moving down the pits. And now? Magically disappearing into the shadows i guess and reappearing back from the dead... It is a small detail for sure, but man, what does it take to make this real and right. All this work in the shiny detailed cars, but a few guys changing tires is too much to ask for? Imagine going full send in a long race in the VR2 and then every pitstop you get your emersion crushed by this stupid pitstop-teleportation, sad, just sad.
Frustrating man. I practiced this race all week, was able to do ten laps in a row without any penalties, then finally entered the cup game. Qualified 4th, raced well and landed in 3rd. Super happy with the results. But THE GAME CRASHED! Then my next entry was plagued with penalties in qualifying and was punted into last place the second lap. All the practice payed off cause I some how managed to place in 4th. Was robbed of the podium, but I guess I couldnt be too upset with 4th.
The penalty system in Gran Turismo is such a joke. They don't even take in consideration the crashes, only if you exceed the track limits... A true joke
So with the last penalty of the race, I can't help but wonder, So if a person wanted to move up a place, and they were being sneaky, they could just lightly tap the rear of you car, causing you to go wide and get a .5, then they can just set themselves up to overtake you at the penalty line? Sounds like they should change the rule-set so that if this happens to you, you are not served the penalty.
Today ive played the daily race C with Gr.3 on watkins glen, i got pushed wide from 1st place by a massive divebomb from 1.5sec behind which resulted in me losing 9 positions and the guy got 3second penalty… then i joined him later in the race and he pushed me into the wall on the main straight which resulted in me getting 5s penalty :) and him nothing. I fking hate the “penalty” system
Won my round 2 race. Some guy in like 10th was defending so hard after I pitted and came up behind him, he was so close to ruining the race. He defended extra hard against the guy in 2nd who we were trading places 1st and 2nd lap after lap. Unfortunately this douche's defence ruined the guys race in 2nd putting him well out of slipstream. Coulda been epic, but i'll take the win.

PD need to sort these penalties - how can they give you a track limit penalty when you’ve been pushed off - and also five you barrier penalties when you’ve been pushed or punted into Barry R… I’m sure they can fix the algorithms to resolve the pen system if they try….

Getting a penalty because someone punts you off the track is ridiculous. The system in this game is garbage.
Track limits are too harsh as well. ACC/ iRacing got theirs implemented better. These in gt7 are just infuriating. Takes all the fun away.

Racing was actually good I finished 6th twice once in the Porsche Cayman and once in the Lamborghini Gr4 it was fun

Don't forget to tweak your TC and ABS. Different cars need different levels of both, and if you're coming from Forza it's easy to forget you can.
this race is like rallycross, with a joker lap to do during the race, which is longer (the pit stop)

Races with an utterly pointless pit stop really grind my gears.
Yeah but it adds a level of strategy and also if you get a pen you can use the pitstop to soak up some time.
