To be fair to Val Kilmirs open mouth, I don't think he could breathe out his nose in that outfit.
I never noticed the open mouth before. I went back and watched the movie last night and dammit, all I see now is the open mouth. Honest trailers did the same thing with Bale's mole on his face too. I can not not see it anymore when i watch lol.
Even with slits it still might be uncomfortable. At least uncomfortable enough to start using his mouth.
I remember going to Blockbuster and asking them if I could rent out “Batman Forever.” They replied, “No, you have to bring it back in a couple of days...”
This is the best dad joke I’ve ever heard that didn’t come from a dad
lol hahaha i love it keep up the good work
Oh blockbuster guy.
Hi-oooh!
I remember Blockbuster and video stores, but is this a joke I don’t understand?
"Jim carries the movie" was the reason I watched this film so much as a kid.
You and all of us in 1995.
Then marketing decision gone RIGHT, I guess ;P
You know not for nothing but I'd liked Carey's riddler in fact I always wanted to see a parody of him somewhere in a flick or show.
Same
What about Nicole Kidman? I'd marry the Hell out of her in that movie.
"... and cut out the insane sub-plot with a giant bat"
.......... the... the what?
same first time i ever heard of it xD
Never heard of Manbat?
OK so Man-Bat was gonna be in this movie, too.
@@bricksgaming8999 no it was part of getting into batman psychology
@@SuperKing604 Oh, that makes more sense
"Too much kinky stuff in the sequel..." which I loved even as a kid. That's why Returns is my favorite. Nothing wrong with two consenting adults who dress up in animal themed costumes at night and dive off buildings, it's a perfectly healthy relationship to me.
Wait…
Yep. No problems here!
Nicole Kidman was so incredibly beautiful in this that she almost makes up for the rest of the movie.
Who?
@@amateruss The blonde doctor lady that's obsessed with Batman's rubber
Hope u still not down this bad 😂😂
4:26 "OH, NO, IT'S BOILING ACID!!" xDD that was one of the funniest lines in the film. And of course, Nicole Kidman was hotttt af in this one, who could resist that from 2:32-2:56? lol she got Batman all worked up lol
well, she's always stunning and hawt no matter what....
Drew Barrymore was even hotter.
TheBraunMachine2011 Tom Cruise was one lucky guy back then.
Agreed! Same here lol. I was surprised they didn't mention Drew Barrymore and Debi Mazar as Two-Face's girls Sugar and Spice either.
Yeah that's no where, near us
"... definitely the worst movie I've seen 30 times." Same, buddy. Same. 🦇
i mean, it's so true!
Hey, I actually liked this movie, even though it's not necessarily good, I still like it.
About that: if you think it's so bad then why watch it that many times?
@@gameman3981 because itis so bad its good
@@TheBonusBlake That doesn't make sense.
DC: "We never thanked you for saving the Batman franchise."
Christopher Nolan: "And you'll never have to."

Because he ruined Batman.

Christian bales Batman also has his mouth open too. Guess he was inspired by Val Kilmer??
that's because that mask covering his nose
probably the mask didn't let him breath though his nose, lol
@@topdog9943 Thats the problem with realism in the Nolan films.
Yeah I suspect he couldn't actually breathe through his nose :)
Also the boiling acid guy deserves an Oscar.
So... F*cking... Much...
I was like 12 when I saw this at the cinema and even then it was one of the most memorable moments of the movie. That and "chicks dig the car" are just about the only lines I remember.
Him and the "Batman! Yeah~!" guy...which is the same reaction many fans would probably have, lol
OHHHHHH NOOOOOOO
"Hold my hand"- batman

Soundtrack was bangin'. Movie? Not so much...
Couch Tomato Kiss From a Rose was the best song in the soundtrack.
He could've mentioned "The Riddler" by Method Man video where Method Man spent the whole video dressed as The Penguin.
We talking Elliot Goldenthal's score? I rather liked it.
The first cd I ever got.
Now here's your host...Couch Tomotoooo
The whole boiling acid moment had me dying of laughter OMG
Hahaha 🤪
Not gonna lie, I'm still digging that Seal song after all these years. "Kiss From a Rose" is quite beautiful.

Thank you for the Chase segment. "She's got brains, she's got brawn, and she uses neither of them." I love Chase but I wish they had done more for her.
Why would acid need to be boiling?
best YT reply I've read in a very long time. :)
And how would you know just from glancing at it?
to sterilize it
ArcanePath360 To make an iconic moment in a bad movie.
It's funny that Batman: Mask of the Phantasm that was an animated movie that came out just a few years before this one was more adult and mature than this live action Batman movie that was very cartoony and kid-friendly.
That's because Warner Bros. had more creative control over the live action movies and wanted to sell toys with them.
That’s because Bruce Timm and Paul Dini actually understand the character as opposed Joel Schumacher.
There's an interview by Joel Schumacher, where he clearly stated that WB re-wrote the scripts for both of his Batman movies,in order to sell toys. For example, they wanted to sell the Batmobil and Mr.Freeze-mobil toys,so they had the scriptwriters, write a car chase scene,in ''Batman & Robin'',which was never in the original script.
Also,the whole neonlights/rave-look,was an idea from WB's marketing department,who thought,that Burton's dark/gothic look,wasn't appealing to kids.
Schumacher has actually apologised for both movies,he directed, that says something.
And he actually wanted to make an adaptation of Year One but WB said "nope".
I would’ve loved to see Val Kilmer play Batman in either a Nolan or Burton film. This one was weird, not horrible, but weird. But I think Kilmer had the look of Batman for sure.
Nope
Say what you will, but this dumpster fire has a great soundtrack.
Hell I still enjoy the soundtrack to this day; it's a perfect time capsule of 90's music.
The last great U2 song was on that soundtrack.
It's got Nick Cave.
Kiss From A Rose outlived the movie.
PLEASE SAY: "OH NO! IT'S BOILING ACID"!
But Wait it's not boiling Acid! But goo bop!
This movie was the first batman movie I've seen when I was young 😭
Ziva the dog I'm so sorry

We're getting The Room Honest Trailer, right?!?
Mythical Slytherin whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Mythical Slytherin Probably within the next two weeks to celebrate the release of "The Disaster Artist", I'd guess.
I can't believe you, of all people, would do this
Do it or be subjected to me screaming "YOU'RE TEARING ME APART, LISA!" complete with the OTT hand actions
Not sure tbh that movie is such this odd ball of a thing that's soooo bad but like in the most perfectly bad way. it worked for full length reviews like Nostalgia Critic and others but what could an Honest Trailer say that hasn't already been said a billion times before? I mean I hope they do as they are all brilliant writers but it would have to find a new and refreshing angle to make it work imo.
No reference to the fact that Harvey Dent/Two Face went from being a black man in the first film to a white guy in the third film?
I think he was white in the comics, so that would have come around full circle.
There was in the first film honest trailer
@@reedr7142 He is and always was white
@@Faded.Visuals in Batman 1989 he was played by Billy Dee williams (aka Lando Calrissian) who was black.
Hey, the "Batman! Yeah!" guy got some love!
Also, does it matter if the acid was "boiling"? Wouldn't it be just as damaging if it was like... regular acid?
(goggles would do nothing)
I think since the molecules are moving faster in a higher temperature the acid is more aggressive than usual
maybe because it's bubbling and splashing everywhere, making it more likely to get hit?
Sir.... I am in your debt.
well vingar is an acid. pour that on yourself then pour boiling vinigar on yourself. see which is worse.
but honestly. a higher temperature increases the rate of a chemical reaction. so yes it is worse.
Using boiling acid saves the victim a lot of pain.
They should have been thankful.
I only watched Batman Forever for Nicole Kidman as a kid. God she was so gorgeous in the movie.
I think one of my friends looks like her.

You gotta admit the soundtrack for Batman Forever is awesome. The strong piercing brass section and wacky unpredictable rhythms.
Yup. It is every bit as good as Danny Elfman's score to the first movie. At times, even better.
Yes, particularly when they put the motif to Argentine tango.

Contra
Tommy Lee Jones feeling he was going to be upstaged by Jim Carey and therefore completely hamming up his performance to compete with him completely ruined the film. It was already gonna be poor but him acting like that set it over the edge
But would a Dark Knight-style Two-Face have fit in with the neon light campiness of this movie? It would have looked really out of place next to Carrey's jokes. Imagine Carrey building up to a huge joke and then Jones comes in and completely kills the mood with something dark and disturbing.
Tommys performance as two face reminds me of eisenbergs performance as Lex Luthor, both men could have nailed their roles but the campiness and the random outbursts just ruined it
That's kinda my take on it. Forever kinda feels like its trying to be an updated version of Adam West's Batman, as Kim Carrey very much feels like he's playing up the wackiness not only he's know for but of Gorshwin's Riddler as well. While TLJ could do an awesome 'straight' Two-Face, but that doesn't seem like it'd work in this 'world' So we get an equally campy Two-Face with over-the-top themed lair, minions, and dedicated shtick of being obsessed with 2s; similar to how most 60's Batman villians got. Plus, for me its kinda fun seeing TLJ not be his usual stick-in-the-mud' character. Forever isn't a great movie, but it wil always be a fun one for me as it seems like a good mix of what Burton Established, 60's family friendly Batman, and 90's punk.
For me it all works with Forever as there is still some seriousness behind all the camp, there is SOME balance there and then Batman and Robin came and was a complete farce that lacked almost any seriousness or Drama (BnR gets ONE thing right, I love all the 'family' scenes revolving around Alfred.) and ramps up all the camp to be stupidly over the top as not even Batman gets to be the 'sane man amongst lunatics' like Forever, as he ends up just as bad with the jokes which even effects his rivalry with Robin.
tbeller80 He wouldn't have to have been a Dark Knight style Two-Face though, he could have just played it more straight laced and serious. It would have not only accentuated Carey's over the top performance but it would have also allowed him to differentiate himself as a Villain and would have given the film the bit of levity which it desperately needed
It might have worked. I just wonder if the direction for them was "take all your cues from Carey and let him do his thing." At this point he just did Ace Ventura and The Mask. He was kinda unstoppable in Hollywood.
He was right, Nicole Kidman was a total pervert in this movie lol
But she's hot though!
Gorgeous though
Not only gorgeous in this movie, but her performance is so sultry and seductive. She really shines. I wish more women had this old school seductress ability.
What exactly was her role in this movie? Hell, what character did she play? Was she some sort of damsel in distress thing?

Batman Jr. Yea same!
Indeed, at least its better balanced than Returns.
That's how I view the 1999 Mummy film
Same, I was a 90's kid (born in 86), so I absolutely loved this film when it came out, used to watch it whenever I had a sick day. I even had a toy Batmobile (the same one from the film), which I think I got long before I actually saw the film lol.
Batman Jr. I watched this on repeat from age 2-5 I know every line from the movie.

Because it would’ve been the last time it would just be “Batman,” so having just Batman Forever as the sequel when there’s a clearly established Robin would be even more confusing to audiences back then.
I don’t care what anybody thinks, I love Batman Forever and it’s 90’s modernization of the Silver Age and I love Val Kilmer’s Batman. He has the best Batman voice and brought a great phycological side to the character
I think this is why Screen Junkies said he'd seen it 30 times. Of the four movies from the era I think this one is the most watchable. There's something enjoyable about this movie.

To be fair, Joel Schumacher really isn't a bad director. Lost Boys and Phantom of the Opera were pretty solid. Even with these movies, he was instructed by the studio to make the films more kid-friendly, and he accomplished that. I don't think the movies being bad were his fault because he had to go off the studio's vision. I'd be curious to see what his own personal vision would have been for these films.
Audio Described Gaming phantom of the opera was full of problems. Not always joels fault though, but the direction was still awful.
similar with Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3.
There are still some redeeming qualities about that film but if not directed by Raimi it wouldn't be at all the same
Falling Down is a amazing movie
I love Joel Schumacher's batman forever my favorite batman movie
Agreed. It's a similar case like with Spider-Man 3 when Raimi was forced to put Venom into the movie.

Well we still remember Christopher Reeve
This movie is a guilty pleasure for me. I thought Val Kilmer was actually a pretty good batman (he definitely looked the part much more than either Keaton or Clooney) and Jim Carrey is great in this movie. Plus, I loved the soundtrack and Nicole Kidman looks her absolute best in this film (seriously, I don't know if she's ever looked as good on screen). And it's not "Batman and Robin."
Kilmer had the most handsome jawline and mouth for the part, if they were just making a bunch of beautiful posters of batman he would've been the best one for sure
So pissed at the nolan robin reveal, it's spit in the face of every robin fan, whether it's Dick, Jason, Tim, Damian and so on.
John Blake was an amalgam of the three Robin. He was a cop, just like Dick Grayson, his father was murdered by criminals, just like Jason Todd, and he discovered Batman's secret identity using his detective skills, just like Tim drake.
How did Sugar and Spice not even get a mention? They were the best part of Batman Forever.
Did they even have lines? The only line I remember was Drew Barrymore "hitting on" Bruce Wayne just to distract him.
+MrAspiringActor They did. When we're first introduced to Two-Face's layer, they both have little speeches about the decorating and cooking.
