Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This UA-cam channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

@Juber’s Golf Journey If you're not normally a big slicer of the ball, it's not very hard to do. Aim right, close the face and swing around your body. I use it for escaping trees a lot, because i find trees a lot! 🤣
@@rob_medlicott the moment i tried to aim right for a big hook, i will proceed on hitting the straightest shot i've ever hit in my entire life.. :D
@@lukmanazmi8806 I was inspired by that hook, and this morning I tried the reverse shot , a 170 iron, faded around a tree. Hit it perfectly....except for the fade part. Straightest shot I ever hit.
Being on the 17th green of a frustrating round and saying “I don’t think these are regulation size these holes”, is the most beautiful example of peak golf

The editing of the break 75’s this year have been incredible, really liked the one hole match play concept as well. It was nice to see Guy play a full hole

Not the score any of us wanted to see but some of the best content of the series. One of the best tracers ever on that hook around the tree, and guys lip out face was exceptional.
That was hilarious - Guy's face when your ball did a 360 look and pass was priceless!

I just wanted to say thanks for bringing some honest content. That 5 Iron hook shot was simply awesome. The piece of advice I took away, and although you were angry at the moment, the comment you made "if you don't like it step away", something I think that we can all relate to. Thanks for the great content, and keep up the great work, we're all behind you.

Rick, that hook 5 iron around the tree was such a good shot, honestly screamed “No way!” As I saw it. Maybe not all you wanted, but that shot alone was phenomenal

I stopped playing golf a couple years ago .its not the game for me because i can't handle the frustration of bad shots but i still watch every one of these

Im 54 and coming out of 20+ years not playing, I'm glad I found this channel now that im just 2 months back in it. Tips. Reviews. Challenges. Celebs. And That golfbidder playoff is epic. Great content and makes golf accessible to returning players like me. Keep it up!!!

Saw your comment. Same here, 55 and joined a country club after taking 15 years off of playing consistently. I am 9 months in and I am finally seeing some progress. All these videos have made me pay attention to things I didn’t know were wrong with my swing.

Honestly this is the most Rick Shiels video of all time. High highs, low lows, sausage roll at the turn, some absurd lip outs, a mini one hole matchplay, good friends, tough course and a sprinkle of rain just when you think things couldn’t be going any worse for your round. Must say Rick, you definitely encapsulated what golf is about in one video. We all know you hate the score but that whole round was pure golf as we all know it. From pros to duffers we can all relate to this one 100%. Well done!

The 70 yard hook on 8 was phenomenal!
That "absolutely massive bird" was a red kite. Stunning bird. You can tell it from the forked tail... It was almost driven to extinction in the UK, but became one of Britain's biggest conservation successes. Beautiful to see it there. Nice filming 👏

Holy s$^t i love this series, love to see that you are just like us. Happy as a child in a candystore with great hits but frustrated and about to blow when hitting bad shots. Rick I am crying right beside ya. During stretches of golf like this, I remember back to great pressure shots that I have made in the past. For you, just remember that outstanding shot you made at the Old Course at St. Andrew, from the fairway with of all people watching, Mr. Tom Watson and you stick it 15 feet from the hole. Simply Amazing. That kind of stuff only happens in my dreams. Today the putting God's turned the backs on ya. Shake it off my friend. See you in the next episode. 👍

I love how many mannerisms golfers that grew up watching Tiger pick up of his. Like how Rick snaps his fingers when a ball is rolling a little hot, I'm sure Tiger wasn't and isn't the first golfer to do this but I can almost guarantee that's where Rick picked that up from.

The second shot on the 8th still moving as he walked round to it! Yet when hit thinking it’s going to be within 3 feet
Ricks driving is so good, long - mid irons so good and his putting.
However, his chipping gives me hope I can break 85 one day.

Kudos to the editor on this one. I love a more subtle editing, and the quick little "BWAAHH" sound with the zoom in on Guy's face when Rick missed that putt that circled the hole was hilarious

I played Moortown 2 weeks ago and shot 78 off the blues. As a steady 4, I was VERY HAPPY. The back 9 into wind is brutal.
Petition to have Guy on all breaking 75 videos from here on out.
Cracking effort Rick, that 5 iron draw around the tree was something special. Their is always that one shot that keeps us coming back the following week, no matter how bad we feel we played and that was it.

Gives us mere mortals hope when it goes from good to bad (or the other way round as we all live in hope) seeing quality golfers suffer the same
I’ve been where Guy is often - quite a few good solid hits, then a flat out socket. So depressing!
Golf is such a hard game to play well consistently. Makes you appreciate just how good some blokes are at it.
And lastly, we’ve all had rounds like this - although if I’m honest, I’d have been stoked to have low 80s on that course - good on you for still posting a round that you played like the rest of us!
Towards the end there, when you started cussing about "If you don't like it, step away..." hit home very much. I got onto myself for the same reason after a shot. Take your time, if your stance doesn't feel right, just back off, shake it off and reapproach it. So glad you kept that in. Made me feel good for getting onto myself for the same reasons. You're the man, Rick!
Having had a few similar rounds lately, sorry to say Rick, this did bring some laughter. Golf, what a game hey! 😂
For a beginner golfer like myself, Rick’s 2nd shot was so refreshing to see. Everyone hits bad shots as I’m learning! First time I’ve seen ‘Shank Cam’; absolutely love it! Thanks for the great content. Open, honest & entertaining. Love it!

I love this series! What I would like to see is when you play these courses that you tell us if the general public can play it and how much it would cost.
Rick, I've been watching you for years. I discovered you while waiting in a hospital room with my wife at the time while she recovered after having our twin girls. Your videos have helped me bring my game back from the dead, as well as helped me through some hard times, and I thank you for that!
I have to say it would be as much a dream come true to play a round of golf with you as it would an elite tour player. Knock'em long and sticker close my friend!
That course was brutal.
Tight fairways, huge strategically placed bunkers, and massively rolling greens. How could a course be anymore difficult?
Great game, I really enjoy watching Rick's videos because I can rewind and watch all of the mechanics behind his best shots.
Loved seeing you make the best out of a bad round - the “mini match” on hole 17 was a fun addition! Done plenty of that with friends of my own.

That approach on 8 has to be best shot I've seen you hit. Shame about the score, but more bad luck than poor play. And I'm sure that foot can't be 100% yet either. Awesome video Rick and Guy, loving this series.

I had 5 weeks off a while ago, and when I came back, I was 2 under after the first 6 holes. Then my lack of play caught up to me, and on the last 12 holes I hit 14 over. Mostly with the short game and putting. Lacked feel and touch. Shows that you have to play regularly to maintain some consistency. But an enjoyable video Rick, Guy was brilliant and a nice course.
At 26:20 I think that's the first time I've seen someone pick up their ball with the backside of a mallet putter - most impressive part of the video for me!
you were still laughing and having a good time which is good, low expectation coming in at least meant you could have fun and still play some great golf. Really enjoying this series
No matter how good of a golfer you are, we all can relate to just having a bad round. Sometimes you just can’t get it turned around. We feel your pain, but it was interesting to see you deal with the rough round.
I love watching you and Guy play a round together. Very entertaining and I always pull for you to do well. I’m no golf professional, but I feel like you should be a little less aggressive on putts from distance(outside 20 ft). Just cozy them up mate. Keep making the videos though, I love watching them.

Moortown is no joke Rick!!! Only played it 3 times before but it can be an animal. Just a thought for the old Insta, you should tell your followers where your playing next and ask for some advice and then call the followers out and there advice as you go around. I know there’s scheduling stuff to think about but it would be quality to hear ‘John suggested to hit 3 iron on this hole... ect ect’. Keep up the incredible work and Guy on the main channel is a stroke of genius, he’s a great addition, I’ve listened to every podcast and I’ve been wanting him to feature more on the main channel, mainly because we all play rounds with our mates so it’s nice seeing the dynamic between you too doing the same. Much love 👍🏻

Putting is usually the strongest part of your game but it seemed like you never quite had the hang of these greens - speedy with lots of borrow. Nice to see you struggle for a change...something we can all relate to!!!😉
Love watching these videos, it’s great to see the evolution of a round. It’s also reassuring to see it isn’t just me that has those card ruining holes! Although I feel mine are slightly more spectacular. I’m off 25 and my target is breaking 90, yesterday I was 4 under my handicap through 7 and then carded an 11 which put me 2 over. I did manage to regain composure to pick up a couple more shots but a quadruple saw me end up at that 2 over

Love the format. 18 holes, break 75. The time off showed. Speed on greens was off, hit a fade on a dogleg left, a draw on a dogleg right. Still you did hit some quality shots. You'll get your groove back. Thanks for taking us along.
