BLEM BCM upper. BLEM Aero lower. Aero parts kit, no FCG or grip. BCM mil spec buffer tube assembly and stock. BCM pistol grip. Geissele G2S. If you are patient and get everything on sale, you’re all in for roughly $1,000. It’s amazing the value you can get for your money these days.

For the 95% of buyers out there that shoot less than 500 rounds a year. Buy the PSA and an armorer's wrench, better yet get the PSA upper without a BCG/CH and buy a blem Toolcraft BCG and a blem Radian Raptor. Get it home, take it completely apart and reassemble it, if you find any unresolvable issues, contact PSA's warranty. There you go, now BCM's QC is no longer an advantage and you're not paying twice as much for a chrome lined barrel and a logo. Also, since you shoot less than 500 rounds per year, your barrel will still last 4-6 years and you can upgrade it to a higher quality barrel when the time comes.

Lol the average person isn't going to be able to do anywhere near the qc bcm does to it's guns. Simply taking it apart and putting it back together isn't even scratching the surface. Watch the bcm qc video on UA-cam. They are using many diff tools and gauges/bore scopes etc to inspect their shit

    • @phobiarg
      @phobiarg 3 місяці тому +14

@marklower007 The argument isn't whether or not the average person can do those HPI/MP inspections on the barrel. The QC I was talking about was to make sure the gun would shoot reliably. This is a video about value builds, lets face it, value builds usually are because the buyer is tight on budget and don't have much if any owned kit. For under $1000 you could have a PSA upper ($250) with a blem toolcraft BCG ($75), blem Radian Raptor ($65) and a Aero lower ($70) with an Aero LPK ($90). Then throw in 10 PMags ($125), a Sig Romeo 5 ($110), a TREX Sling ($60) and a HLX light ($130). All-in you're about the same price as the BCM upper with a BCG and a charging handle, obviously the BCM is higher quality and an actual duty grade rifle, that's not refuted. But if it comes down to someone being able to afford a complete rifle ready to shoot, the PSA opens the door to a lot more people.

Now just waiting on my Trash Panda suppressor.
I love Bravo Company because they are in the state where I live, and I know a few people who work there. I have several of their stocks, handguards, grips, etc. but their is nothing wrong with spending less, messing around with your gun, making it work, and making it yours. Just my 2 cents

My recommendation is always sionics patrol rifles. The price for value is absolutely unmatched. 4150 chrome lined barrel, Radian CH, Sionics NP3 BCG, great reciever fitment, upgraded 2 stage trigger, 1/8 twist, springco spring. It's a gun thats done out of the box better than anything in its range of 1,300.
You can also just get their uppers for around 900 in 11.5, 12.5, 16 inch offerings. Ohh yeah, and that price includes a CH, BCG, and the option for gas port sizing made for supressors. Thats not to take aeay from BCM who also makes very nice guns/uppers. Its just crazy no one talks about sionics who is making outstanding guns.

It's a small detail, but the great thing about the B5 SOPMOD is it has a really long cheek flare.
I still prefer the BCM Gunfighter furniture over B5, but it's not always the best option depending on your set up.
Something like an ACOG or even a dot/magnifier combo that has a fairly short eye-relief will leave you needing to shorten the LoP on a BCM stock because the cheek flare only runs about 2/3 the length of the stock instead of the whole length like the B5. I just wish the B5's were designed to fit as snugly as the BCM's usually do. Stocks that rattle are annoying af.

You seem to be comparing "Chrome Lined" with "CHF". Most CHF barrels im aware of are Chrome Lined. Also, Stainless is a completely different type of steel than the 4150CMV that most mil-spec and CHF barrels are comprised of. Its much softer making it easy to machine (more accurate in theory) but also softer (reducing barrel life). Comparing the 2 is really apples and oranges. A better comparison would be PSA's cheaper nitride treated vs BCM's Phosphate/Chrome lined CHF or standard barrels. The core steel is theoretically the same, just with a different finish/rifling method.

I also went with a BCM upper (11.5 MK2 BFH) but splurged a bit with a radian lower for the full ambi options it offered with the bolt controls through the mag release. I also got a Geissele trigger on sale for 40% off and free shipping at primary arms which covers almost the full cost of the radian sd charging handle. Went with the VLTOR a5 h2 but that might change when I get a suppressor. B5 systems pistol grip and sba4 brace. For the accessories I currently can’t decide between a holosun AEMS or eotech + magnifier. Will also probably be getting a modlite okw or cloud defense light at some point soon. No idea for the sling yet but I’ll figure that out later. I hope to get night vision at some point but I see no point of spending 2k on a laser now if I have no night vision to use it with:(

I would recommend going over the cross bolts on the Geissele handguard to make sure they ae torqued to spec 5ft lbs. If you price out all the parts for the upper you will definitely spend more than what PSA charges. If you shoot suppressed you will need to swap out the buffer spring and buffer to a blue SpringCo and a h2 to gas the rifle properly.

I've been noticing issues with the BCM stuff I've bought lately. 2 carriers both with leaky gas keys (leak test performed with oil around the base, bolt inserted in the carrier held back with thumb to create the interior seal, and compressed air filling the carrier key with a rubber tipped air chuck - bubbles form at the base where the oil was applied when leaking, SOLGW M76 lube works best for the test) as well as oversized bolt tail seals resulting in inefficient gas seals between the bolt tail and carrier (reduces how much gas is effectively being uses to open the bolt during unlock, less gas means its likely to stop running sooner when dirty, cold, or with weak ammo.) Also, one of the carriers only has a few thousand rounds and the extractor is already failing my PTG extractor gauge test.
P.S. - this isn't necessarily to sway anyone from BCM, but rather I want folks to put some pressure on them if they are slacking and fix whatever issues are going on in QC. Carrier keys are intended to be sealed with Permatex or some sort of gasket sealant per TDP specification, TDP being one of the documents BCM touts as the standard they go by and hold themselves to. If gas keys are coming out of their factory leaking, that's less than optimal and not on brand for BCM (all my PSAs leak..its a total detriment just not as efficient).
P.P.S - if you don't think gas leaks matter, I changed a gas key, (stoned sealed and staked) for a friend on a PSA that was leaking, it went from ejecting at 5 o clock with m193 to ejecting at 3 with the same ammo.

Where my current BFH ELW barrel has held 1.1moa with 77otm, and 1.6moa with m193.. from start to the 9k+ rounds that I am at on this barrel.. One of the most important decisions to be made is about your intended use of the firearm. A vast number of buyers will never do competition shooting. Most are bought for personal protection and defensive scenarios. Most will never even want or need to "acquire" targets over 100 yards away.
Unless you have money to burn, a vast majority of mods to increase accuracy are moot points, IMO.
I look for things that make my firearms more comfortable to use.. ^ comfort usually equates to ^ accuracy just by nature.
It's also pretty easy to over-accessorize a firearm of any type.

Good vid, for the record the biggest difference in running cold hammer vs chrome is the heat dissipation under rapid sustained fire. Iv never shot enough to prove it myself but the rumor/theory is the better you manage heat through the life of the barrel the longer the rifling will wear in an even manor thus keeping consistent performance. The faster you "burn up a barrel" the faster it becomes a cost and in terms of military use (which is where the need to compare comes from) a barrel that lasts 40k+ rounds is more important depending on application than a more accurate, lighter or whatever barrel that only lasts 20k.

What perfect timing that this video is being posted about best AR-15 for the money.
I just accidentally came across a AR-15 at my local 'gun store' aka the best pawn shop in the world that mainly sells guns, lol.
It's a Spikes tactical SR-15 rifle that originally costed $1,000 as the base rifle before it was modified. The previous owner added a Cryptic bolt-carrier group ($450), fab defense stock ($75), Radian Raptor charging handle ($120), I forget the trigger brand/model but it was ($300), some cheap holosun red dot ($100), short throw safety selector ($45), Magpul MBUS Pro metal backup sights ($200), custom dust cover with graphics ($75), Daniel Defense MFR handguard 15" ($350), flash forwarding can ($250), Magpul grip ($35).
That's $3,000 overall combined MSRP cost for the rifle and all of the parts added.
Do you know how much they were selling it for?
$599.99 🤑 I bought it immediately after inspecting it myself. Even hypothetically if the barrel was shot out I could cheaply replace it and accurize the barrel and receiver fitment simultaneously for less than $500 making it an $1,100 cost for a $3,000 gun.

Not that I really like KB either, but it's an interesting story if it's true.

Do NOT expect a BCM to meet your expectations further than 3 or 400 yards. I just rebarrelled the 16" BCM I bought for a LVPO/SPR gun with a Criterion Core barrel because no matter what I put in the BCM it wouldnt shoot better than 2.5moa

@@SIRslipperyasp91 That's a fair comment. As well as these are regarded, and being someone who can/does shoot out to distance, I expected more out of such a well-regarded product.
I'll also say that I have a stainless PSA barreled lightweight upper that is MOA with Federal M193. I think I would buy two of those instead of one of the BCM if I were to do it again... A 2.5MOA gun, especially 16" use isn't really interesting to me.

Saying geissele triggers are good value is an absolutely deranged take. I have more geissele triggers than anything else, but the diminishing returns are massive going past $100 on an AR trigger. A surefire can being high value is also insane.

    • @nunyabiznes32

Full price G triggers ain't worth it. Sale down in the $150 range and it's another story. Schmid, heavily rebranded, are excellent for a 1/3 of the price. Yet for smoothness I'd give the win to the Geissel2 SSA. I really want to try the SOLGW 2 stage made by Schmid next.

Larue mbt 2s is the best top tier
budget trigger. You can get them in sale for just under 100 and they rock.
The new PSA saber enhanced trigger is also very good. It is just a schmid trigger but with different coating and springs. Mine breaks at 2.5lbs and breaks very clean.

I am 99% sure that the rmr is not a pistol sight... it was a backup/closeup option for rifles.
This is why the fireproof is wider than most slides.... it is not designed to go on a slide.
The HD and SRO are pistol sights which is why the hold up better to slide top use better than the gen one rmr.

I agree with at least 90-95%.... As far as optics go, I'd probably rather run an LPVO with probably an offset red dot. With that being said, I run a lot of red dots on my rifles, mainly the more budget friendly options. Vortex (SPARC II & SPARC AR), Holosun (403R, 503R & AEMS), Sig (Romeo 5's), ect... I also like the Trijicon MRO so far. But I really wouldn't consider an ACOG a budget friendly optic. Well.... I guess it really depends on what your budget is.... 🤷. But FYI the original RMR's weren't pistol optics, they were small (Rugged Miniature Red Dots or Reflex sights) they were originally designed to go onto rifles as a reflex sight. It wasn't until later when guys started milling or having their slides milled and then mounted to them. The RMR Type 2 was designed to be mounted on pistols now but they're still utilized on rifles as a secondary sighting system. But I am a huge fan of Aero Precision/Ballistic Advantage, and I do like BCM along with Midwest Industries.
