    On the atacr you don’t have to shoot groups with the center dot. Use a random post in the reticle.

      This guy gets it! on Vortex 1-10 MOA-BDC, first "true" cross hair is at 2.4 MOA. Use that to zero then adjust 2.5 up. You'll be dead on at your zero.

      I do the same with my EOtech. It has a little splash, so I pick a high point of the splash and use that instead of the dot center (even tho the dot is 1MOA it’s probably 1.5moa with the splash and all)

    If you can load a bullet in these longer rifles that have a higher bc it’s amazing how far you can impact tgts beyond a grand. The Berger 80.5 full bore can be loaded mag length and if you extrapolate the drag model of the bullet to a g-1 coefficient in my DD mk-12 at 1000 yds the g-1 bc works out to be 0.450. It’s closer to 0.460 at 770 yds. This bullet flies great into trans and Ssubsonic regions. This load earlier today was supersonic to 950 yds and went subsonic at 1167 yds. Impacts were very predictable at 1280 yds today in today’s environment. Loved the content and breakdown of the rigs, thanks!!!

    Something i think is an interesting concept, would be a blend of the spr and automatic rifle. Using an spr upper with a auto, or supersafty lower. I would think that for a civilian squad with low manning pulling double duty would be valuable.
    The benefit of the super safety is that you could potentially use a precision trigger, and have the function of a 3 position safety.

    • @mikutrash5050
      @mikutrash5050 5 місяців тому +3

      The other benefit is that for those with spr upper already the only physical modification is the safety, and I guess magazines.
      It would be good to consider keeping an extra barrel around, assuming you have to tools to build uppers already.

      @@mikutrash5050 You’d need to be very selective with your barrel, and you’d likely be sacrificing accuracy. You’re gonna cook a quality 416R Match barrel if you try running it full auto *very* quickly. Arguably the DMR already fills in the position of a squad automatic, but uses a low volume of highly accurate fire to achieve suppression as opposed to traditional.

    I have two Super Tricon triggers that I replaced the springs on with SSA-E springs. Gives me the pull of a SSA-E and the textured feel of the shoe is great for muscle memory. The slightly rear ward sweep of the Super Tricon makes riding your thumb on the right side feel short, but when you move your thumb over to a standard grip it improves by quite a bit.

    My Ballistic Advantage 14.5 SS Hanson barrel did a 1.38 inch 10 shot group on 6x last month with AAC 77g. The complete upper including Sig MSR 1-6 scope was right at $1,000. My 18 inch Faxon Gunner Match will do a .99 MOA 10 shot group with an Athlon 2-12x with the AAC SMK 77g, still only about a $1,300 complete upper including the scope.

    I’ve never had good luck with Ballistic Advantage barrels. Have had 4 premium series and sold them all. Have had some good groups with them, but they are not consistent grouping barrels by any means. Reloading for the first one I had was beyond frustrating and I wasted so much time trying to find a combo it liked. Finally did, 22.6 gr of XBR 8208 and 77gr SMK. Don’t know why I gave 3 more of their barrels chances. While my Rainier Arms and White Oak barrels were a breeze and liked several different recipes. If you attempt to shoot 3-5 5 shot groups with that barrel I can about guarantee it won’t be .6-.8 MOA. Especially if you try any other round other than the single one it seems to shoot decent. Not knocking you guys, just telling my experience with BA. Also had a 6 ARC BA barrel that was 2-3 MOA with all the Hornady factory loads.

    Yeah, most ARs are not precision rifle (SPR) candidates. My 20" BA will produce 1" groups (most of the time) with Fed 69gr Gold Medal. When I first built it I shot about 125 five round groups with match ammo. When I averaged all the groups I got 1.38 MOA, which I'm pretty happy with. Fed 69gr Gold Medal is expensive so I mostly shoot ADI 69gr out of it which seldom produces a 1 moa group, but consistently shoots 1.25(ish) MOA groups.
    Most of my other uppers shoot between 1.5-2 MOA with match ammo and between 2-4 MOA with M193 and XM855 clones. What's funny is how much variances exist between rifles, some of them like PMC, others like Federal, and others like IMI. Makes buying a single type of ball a challenge....

    I have a couple trigger tech diamond single stage triggers and they've been one of my favorites for a while. The one I have in my favorite rifle has about 2500 rounds on it since I put it in. Mostly suppressed and my lower is absolutely filthy. It's full of carbon and grease and other crap and I've never cleaned it out. I've never once had an issue with that trigger. But I also got the nicest one they sell. And if the weight on the one in that rifle is a problem, I'm assuming that means it's not adjustable, which means it might be one of the cheaper ones. Either way, it's unacceptable for a trigger to have an issue like that, but I guess I'm just saying all triggertech triggers aren't like that and I've never had an issue with mine despite it being full of carbon and other stuff

Nomenclature matters, even in the military the spr stand for special purpose receiver. Same thing with cqbr. A general purpose rifle is an 18 inch mk 12esq civilian rifle. @@brandon.wombat I would go through the gas system, check tolerances and check fitment of barrel with upper. Go through the ammo you were using, not a variable but could be. I would bed the barrel with Locktite 620, zero the rifle and guarantee you got a sub MOA rifle? Thats a bold statement, you down?

    I’d like to see a test of the Arken optics. They are a tenth of the price of nightforce but supposedly they perform just as good. The idea that a scope has to cost $2000+ to be any good seems to no longer be the case.

      Truly absurd when you consider the cost of materials, machine time, and the cost of labor to assemble it. No way the engineering costs were that high and if they were then that company got SCAMMED. I've worked in engineering/tooling firms my whole adult life. Something as simple as a bipod should not be anywhere near that expensive.
