This is perfect. And such material of people speaking naturally in Slovene with subtitles is incredibly rare and hard to find.
By the way, 'marmalade' in English just means the bitter stuff made out of oranges. Otherwise it's called 'jam'. So it's 'apricot jam'.

So I'm Bulgarian, the Slovenian language is much closer to Bulgarian than Serbian (and Serbs are our neighbors!, while Slovenians are very far from us - but interestingly closer in language!)
I understand absolutely everything! I don't need a translation. A very large part of the words and word order are exactly the same! We have similar dialects in Bulgaria
Even we have dialects that we don't understand at all, and your language is much more understandable, with slight differences, tending to sound Serbian, but understandable, unlike Serbian.
The Slovenian language, together with Croatian, are the closest to Bulgarian in terms of understanding and pronunciation.
I had a Croatian colleague with whom we worked and we both spoke our languages and understood each other without any problems or need of translation!
Russian is much more distant than our language and has not much in common with Bulgarian, nor the grammar, but we know it because we studied it as "mandatory" during communism.
Macedonian is completely indistinguishable from Bulgarian, it sounds like a light southern Bulgarian dialect. There are still Bulgarians living there, but unfortunately they have been brainwashed and identify with the territory of Macedonia. (which territory is also in all of Greece, that's why the Greeks didn't recognize Macedonia by that name, and never will!)
They took this territory away from us from Southern Bulgaria, along with Croats and others, when they tore our country apart with the Treaty of Neuilly, and a lot of the population moved to our reduced new territory. Bulgaria was suddenly overpopulated with ethnic refugees. At that time, even half of today's Greece was inhabited by ethnic Bulgarians, not Greeks! It was artificially populated with new people, and they expelled the local Bulgarians from their own homes, burning villages and houses and raping women and gouging out their eyes. A very terrible story! The atrocities of the Greeks at that time against the Bulgarian civilian population were even worse than the Turkish atrocities, because the Turks helped the Bulgarians to save themselves from the Greeks! The Greeks did not recognize ethnic Bulgarians when they gave them our territories. They forced local bulgarian peoples to say that where "Greeks" otherwise, they were killed. And in the northern parts of Dobruja, they gave our territory to today's Romania and Moldova. We still have a Bulgarian city with a Bulgarian population in Ukraine as well, but it is harassed there and unrecognized as a minority, which no one wants to talk about from the politicians and is not given much publicity. They insult the Bulgarian ancient monuments of culture in these countries.
During those war years, many ethnic civilians peoples were deliberately driven out and massacred, which is inhumane!
The whole purpose of the great powers was and always has been to weaken Eastern Europe and the power of Bulgaria under Tsar Boris and Simeon who successfully fought the Byzantines wich was eastern Roman Imperia, and made the east culturally reborn and a better place to live. The west didn't like that. And under their rule, there were no slaves in Bulgaria, people were free, while in Western and Central Europe, there was still slavery.
Always the "great powers" want to keep the eastern countries in Europe poor and weak, therefore they tear them apart and do not allow a common Slavic union between our countries. Bulgaria was such a large united territory of the Slavic peoples, but they deliberately broke it up so that the Slavs would not be strong and united.
Thanks to the missionary work of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, their disciples Clement, Naume and Paisi Hillendarski, etc., this bulgarians gave the letter and the reading to all the Eastern Slavic peoples, by spreading Orthodoxy Christianity in these eastern countries. Western countries accepted Catholicism, therefore the West Slavic countries, instead of writing in Cyrillic, write in Latin lettters, which is a mutilated alphabet and does not have a single symbol for the specific sounds that the Slavs have, especially the characteristic Ж, Ч, Ш, Щ = this speciffic slavic sounding have characters only in the Cyrillic alphabet!
In my opinion, it is logical and correct for each nation to have its own script, like the most Asian tribes, have because there are so many tribes in one country that each tribe has its own script, even they have common religion.
But the religions derived from Judaism (Christianity and Muslimness) spread violently, Only Orthodoxy was spread peacefully, and through violence - was the Catholicism, with their crusades. Of course, Islam only spread through wars and conquest of nations.
Аnd when they rechristened a country and territory, they also changed the writing of the people in order to erase their roots, and to know who rules them. In this line of thought, many Asian countries that imposed Islam also acquired Arabic script, as the local ruled people forgot their ancient scripts and traditions.
This is how peoples are melted. In the past - through religion and writing, and now through new political ideas and corupption of political idiots.
But beyond these constant stories of power struggle, of politicians, we see that Slavic languages and people are clearly very connected and common, even though we are far away as a territory from each other or write in different script.
I wish to all peace and health.😊

Alja, I would like to ask the meaning of the sentence at 1:55, “ Dokler ne postane…”. Do it mean UNTIL IT BECOMES or UNTIL IT DOES NOT BECOME? I guess the meaning should be the former one, but why NE is here?

    • @barrysteven5964

It's hard to explain but this happens in a few languages that when you want to say 'until something happens' you add the word for not even though that doesn't seem to make sense.

is croatian similar to slovenian? I mean if I learn croatian will I be able to understand slovenian?

    • @leialozada7707
      @leialozada7707 5 місяців тому +1

      Yes and no.

    • @nade1231
      @nade1231 2 місяці тому +1

Yes if you not only learn but understand the meaning of words, their origin and logic and roots. I am Bulgarian, and can understand Slovenian, Croatian, Makedonian easely, because they are super close to our language and I get the logic of the language.
They are like our dialects. Slovenian and we have words that are the same but used in closer meaning.
For example in Slovenian "Spring" the season, is "pomlad" from Po+Mlad - I can get the meaning because this in Bulgarian sound exact and means "more young" - so the meaning of this season is to be New - and more young! So beautiful is this invented in Slovenian!
In croatian is "Proljeće" - the same meaning, but little different sounding - more soft sounding. Pro+ ljeće (more + summer)
But Summer in croatian is not ljeće, as in the their word for spring, but "ljeto" - almost the same. - So you little lose the logic.
But liječiti - is to heal - so the logic here is that both words - Lieto -Lieche and Liechite - are super close - the meaning is that in the summer - you are healing, becuase we know the cold winter comes with sickness, less sun, less energy, no herbs.. the climat is not good. So all words are conected is somewhat logic by meaning. You have to search for, to undertand the language and its own beauty.
In bulgarian Spring is "пролет" Pro+Let (let - from leto/liato) = wich means "to the + summer" the meaning is - near/closer the summer. So we have the same words and meaning but sometimes exchanged on various occasions.
In English spring (season) is = to spring (water) - which is the same as words - why it is? Also has logic. Because in this season everything springs and is new! life springs up again - also very easy to understand!
So to learn any language - you must not only remember words, but look for the logic and meaning of the words - this is the best way to learn it and understand the languages.
If you have a rich vocabulary of many words in Slavic languages, you will be able to understand most Slavic languages.
Slavic Languages are logical - words can be divided into syllables, they are made up of small syllables that mean something.
They also have a root, usually at the beginning of the word.
For example -in Bulgarian, Thank you = is from two words - Blagodaria = Blago+Darja = I give a blessing (blago= good + to give)
While in many other Slavic languages it is Hvala - which means in Bulgarian Хвалба - Hvalba - to praise someone, to speak nice words and things about him. So we have the same word, as Hvalba/Hvalia - but we use it in another similar sense.
One more example the word "Prust" - means two tings in our language= finger of the hand, and soil. Why? Because the soil are worked with fingers, land workers are with durty fingers! And who dont want to work the land, don't want to durt his fingers/hands- right? And because bulgarians are the first tribe that develop the agriculture in Europe, and spread around, thats why we are the only nation that have so many words for soil, as no other european slavic or western nation.
The Greeks (who lie historically that they were the first agricultural people of Europe) do not have many words for soil. Why?
Logically, because they are colonizers of our continent, (They are a Phoenician tribe, Semitic, not native Europeans)
we and the local population were their slaves. So they don't have many words for arable land because they don't need them.
Just a word about dig the soil! in command form, and in the sense of digging for some valuable things - not for cultivating the soil.
And according to the official word for the most fertile soil in all of Europe - and even in the world it is a Bulgarian word - it is called Chernozem. Only by it, we can remember who was the first people who cultivated the soil - this means in our language "black erth"
By how rich a people's vocabulary is for a certain job, or craft, skill, you will understand by this vocabulary and words the history of the people and who discovered what, who was good at what and what they did in the past. Through Language is the best history you can learn, because Language does not lie, unlike the history books that are written by those in power and who writes them as he pleases politically.
      --------------
Macedonian is the most like bulgarian, because they are bulgarians. hahaha
But Russian, or Serbian - is not so close to this four languages I mention.
The stupid thing is that many close Slavic languages are written in two different alphabets (Cyrillic and Latin), which makes learning them difficult, but not impossible.
The Latin alphabet initially did not have symbols for the characteristic Slavic sounds, but the Cyrillic alphabet was therefore invented and given to the Slavs - to be able to write their specific sounds that way, which they could not write in Latin before.
That's why Latin-writing Slavs have additional characters and a more complicated writing of their words/sounds, unlike Bulgarians, who write the same as we hear and speak - without unnecessary and additional symbols - which is super easy for us!
John Lennon, for example, refused to learn to write English correctly and grammatically, because he wanted to write as he heard the words - hahaha - just like we write Bulgarian! Yes, but this is not accepted by the Latin and Western part of the world as something normal - the idea of those in power is to complicate people's lives! Politics is very stupid in many countries!
The mission of the students of Cyril and Methodius to create and spread writing for the Slavs is the most meaningful thing they have done for the culture of our peoples! I am glad that I can write my language exactly as I pronounce each sound, as I speak and hear it, super easy!
Because that's the purpose of inventing an alphabet - to be able to easily write down the sounds you pronounce - right?
But in those days, scripts were controlled by religion, not by the language needs of the people.
My opinion is that each nation should have its own script so that the other does not understand it! that is the main idea of the script as well - to be complex for others to understand and unique for each tribe so that no valuable information is leaked. A kind of protection from external influence.
Now they aim for globalization with English so that people can be melted down and brainwashed on a global level - and as we see what the world is doing - They are succeeding!
And by the way, according to statistics with this globalization, a huge part of natural human languages have disappeared and continue to disappear, which is terrible!
      Wish you helth 😊
