What I don't get it is, he is telling us to be honest. What is indeed ur previous boss was a d*. That's just being honest, why can't candidates be honest with their new potential employer. I bet some of them have been similar position. I believe honesis the best policy. Let them recruit you based on whom you are n not what you want them to think you are. At least when u are searching for a long term career.
@@sandraamaserwaa234 but that’s you leading with emotion, no one cares how you feel at work. It’s a different hat. Like in customer service for example, when rude customers talk to you, do you deal with them are same way you would if you where dealing with them out side work? Is that you not being honest? Same principle
Just remember, they can't see your fear unless you show them! Just act confident in what you say and rehearse in front of a mirror until you feel comfortable with what you are saying. Confidence is key, and you will never be able to rise above your anxiety until the day you decide you CAN. Your reality is shaped by your beliefs, if you don't believe in something, you will never see the possibilities that may come from it.
Good advice
Very well said!
Thanks for your advice
I actually love interviews myself because I know that it's a sign that everything else has already lined up fairly well, an interview is almost a test to make sure you're not a complete idiot because by the time they interview you you're already somewhat qualified for the position and they already have somewhat of an interest in you it's just your job not to screw it up by saying something stupid during the interview.
That makes more difficult for me because I have done and made me feel more un confident
Them: "Tell me about yourself"
Me: "I...am...a person...who is interested in this position...?"
Them: Why do we hire you?
You: Because this position needs me.
I hate this question. It’s like they want us to be professional liars
@@booAHHHH hence why “bullies and cheaters don’t succeed” is actually not true.
3 years ago I got hired using your methods, now 3 years later I am here refreshing since I’ll need it again

Hi Don, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping out me throughout my 4 months interview journey.
I might have watched 25+ videos of you and sometimes I use to just listen to them as a podcast during my commute.
Thank you for making me realise that preparation is a must. Even though you have to be yourself in the interview, you have to be prepared in advance to reply in the best possible way. Finally yesterday I got an email stating that I got the Job in my Dream Company. I cannot thank you enough. Being a non-native English speaker, you really helped me develop my confidence.
So glad to help you and thank you for supporting my channel
At an interview I had last week, the first question I was asked was;"What do you like to do in your free time".
I felt like saying,"That's why I am here!Because I have too much free time"
AdamS mashups 😂😂😂 so am i
One thing i would like to add is study your resume sometimes you can forget some of your attributes that can be key to mention in the interview
D Jones agreed! If possible take a copy of your resume to reference!!

@@DonGeorgevich Thank you, the interviewer had taken kindly to my approach. I have also assemble a clipboard, pens and paper for critical notes and a folder with lamented documents of my resume and application. The interview had transition smoothly, however there was one question that puzzle me. "If there was one word to describe yourself, what would that be?" I have a number of answers but overall I could not fathom a proper response and concluded my final answer as "Inscrutable".
The interviewers began to write something down in a hurry as if he was about to jump out of his sits. I glance down on his note and it read out "Extraordinary". He then look up to me with a smile that has shifted from his blank expression at the beginning of the meeting and proceed to congregate information about my availability, transportation, time and date that I will be starting at the post office.

what if you have crippling social anxiety and freeze up in the middle of a sentence and then turn red and start sweating profusely?
Jacinto Serna exercise, good diet and some ganja for me. everyone is different. merry Christmas. cheers.
Jacinto Serna accurate description of me
Been there, done that. Imagine your roles were reversed. The interviewer is a person with hopes and fears, just like you.
The best way to prepare for social anxiety is to not have anxiety. Be prepared. Write typical questions and answers for interviews and study for them. Also if you use positive affirmations and power posing, that will make you more confident to succeed.
Jacinto Serna Take time on your anxiety, it comes from a deeper place most of the time. You don't just get anxiety just because. Realize nobody is perfect. Don't beat yourself up over it, grow from it.
Don, I want to thank you. I studied and practiced the methods you've prescribed in this and other videos and it has greatly helped me. I applied the guidance you've provided during my interview today and it worked like a charm. I received positive feedback from the recruiter, they want to go forward with an offer for a full time position as a VP at a top US bank. Thanks again!
Nice one man , congrats
A position as a vice president? If so then congrats! I would have thought most people watching this videos would have been applying for their 1st - 4th job

Brian - Not good, if you're being sarcastic which I think you are. These "Tips" are guidelines for someone to use and tailor to their own scenario. Don has done a real good job to present them in a way that can be generalized.
I watched this right before an interview for a network engineer position. I smashed it! Less than a week later, I got offered the position. I just wanted to personally say thank you for this. I start in two weeks! This video was perfect!...very informative and professional. So grateful for your time. You certainly made a difference! :)
Don, I am a recruiter, and I sometimes conduct lectures, seminars or workshops on this subject as well. I have to say, this video contains really good content, one of the best out there. Cudos to you! very helpful and concrete :)
Kudos
i think this lecture just saved my sanity today. I have an interview tomorrow and I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. I needed a calm knowledgeable voice to remind me (that I'm awesome jk...) how to highlight my best self to others. Great pep talk! Thank you!
I have a 1 hour and 30 minutes long interview tomorrow and I also feel a bit stressful now. This video definitely does well on providing information to us. Wish you already have a job now!

You know what's worse than researching WebMD when you're sick? Looking at interview videos before a video. I'm glad there is content like this, but as an introvert with panic disorder, in a world of charismatic extroverts, I feel like giving up.
Yup know exactly what you mean. Just try to be an extrovert and try to pretend as best as you can, be perky and smile a lot especially when you feel nervous the interview will last 1 hour or less.

Dear KG, I emphasize with your situation and am sorry for this situation. Have you tried to gather resources for mental health? There are resources that may be in your city that can assist you and others with related mental health issues. In some instances, there are mental health organizations that help people with challenges find work.

I had an interview 1/8/2020 and had been practicing for it weeks prior. I came across some of your videos which helped me review my interviewing skills. I had a 5 year plan and I am happy to say I have reached my goal 3 months to my 5 year anniversary of being with the agency. Started at an entry level to Management. Once again thank you.
glad to help you.

Thank you Don. I followed your tips and practiced them before my interview and I GOT THE JOB! Not only did I get the job, they offered me more than the job was advertised for. I have a massive tendency to waffle but your advice kept me on point. Thank you so much.

I just want to say thank you for helping to prepare people for interviews because without jobs we obviously couldn't provide a living for ourselves plus they don't teach these kinds of things in school so I have in the past walked into an interview completely unprepared and ended up failing to get a job. So having someone like you to educate me on the proper way of interviewing free of charge is helpful and amazing and (not to sound weird) heart warming. Thank you sir 😊
I landed a job thanks to you. I really appreciate it. I honestly watched your videos for 5 days straight and a couple more times right before my interview in my hotel. Thank you so much man
Watching this the night before my interview. It's my first interview as I've never had a job before and I'm so nervous :''''''^)
Hi Don I’ve been watching your videos like crazy because I had an interview scheduled with 24 hour notice . I’m just getting back out into the professional world after almost five years at the same company. Because of all your help and knowledge, I nailed the interview today! I think she was really impressed with all the questions I asked her . I was also prepared for all the questions she asked ( only about 6 or so ). Thank you so much for providing all this information. It helped me so much !
What questions did you ask?
Thank you!!!!! I used these tips today for my second interview with the Director for a rotational leadership assignment with extra pay....I was selected for the job!!!! You are awesome.
Thank you, Don. I watched and studied a half dozen of your videos before my interviews for a blue collar job near my hometown. I accepted an offer yesterday. God bless
I have an interview for the TSA. This helped me calm down and focus. Thank you, Don!

I'm transitioning from the military into a full time job. I really appreciate the time you took to prepare these informational videos.

Great video, as always! I love that you pointed out the importance or going back to the job description when preparing for the interview. It's a great way to find clues about the topics that might be covered in the interview.
Thank you, I am facing an internet interview and have not worked in many years. This game has changed a bit in the years and your video helped to reassure me to prepare, practice, and most of all - be who I am, be myself.
I just wanted to say Thank You! Every job I've had in my career has fallen into my lap. I've never really felt pressure to interview, because I really already had the job and the interview was just a formality. But TODAY I have a REAL interview for a job I really want. So I started with this video a few days ago, and started practicing my responses. Moving long term memory to short term memory - that's a brilliant hack! I made Notecards with 50 possible questions and practiced my answers out loud. I'm still nervous, but I feel MUCH more prepared after watching this video. Thank you so much! I'll let you know if I get the job.
I have been out of the work field for 3 years now and I am HELLA nervous AND fearful of inteviewing and I have been out of the 'hot seat' for even longer. This is very helpful and helps me begin to start to get through my anxiety of interviewing. As confidant as I am...I have to build my confidence and get out of my fearful thoughts and these questions/answers are helping. Thank you!
hey Don I wanted to thank you for all your video they are extremely helpful thanks again...
I love this guy. Great communication especially, verbally and otherwise.
Don thank you for all your videos. I watched them all many times. With your help I got a job and I know with out your help it wouldn't have happened.
I am now absolutely horrified that I began my answer to "Tell us a bit about yourself" with "Well, I will start from the beginning. I was born in Minnesota...." and went through the decades. Damn. I have been screwing that question up for way too long.

I think I might have mentioned my cat once.
I feel like my past self was a fool! Never realized the right way to answer that question til now

I once told an interviewer about my grandfather dying when I was 9. I get emotional and overshare when I panic.
Interview today at 10:30 am this really helped , thank-you !
Bree A did you get is beautiful

Did you get the job
I watched all your videos the last week and got the job. Crazy I have interviewed with this company for the last three years with barely any response. I got a second interview once. I followed your tips and this interview was worlds different. Got the offer 2 hours later. OMG. Your videos are amazing. My one big mistake in the past was not asking SMART question at the end and not using the STAR method for behavioral questions. They keep saying they loved my questions t the end and it created a whole new discussion which helps me get more excited about the position. It was a win-win. Thanks again.
I used these questions before my interview. I practiced on index cards. I got the job too! Great tips.
Job interviews are stupid. IMO, they're not trying to find a reason to hire you but looking for a reason NOT to hire you. All this BS-ing and none of the crap they ask really matters when you start working.
Valentyne S. exactly. like i went to a mobile retail store and the reps were so grumpy and hated their jobs.
Nice
Typically the interview team is mostly HR and has no idea of what the actual job will entail. Seems like a big power trip to me in the interviews! I am doing day trading (cryptocurrency) and making $4k a month so I can be pickier and not have to grovel with these people...
Valentyne S. True to a certain extent.
Hahah
Thank you for all of your tips, Don. I just landed a great job and it is due in part to studying your videos and taking your tips to heart. You do great work on your channel!
Congrats. You are amazing. Best of luck to you
This man speaks the pure truth! He knows the game perfectly and I followed all his advices from the videos, including this one, and I smashed the 2nd interview! Especially cause I was so poorly prepared for the first one but I improvised by showing excitement for the role and giving good feedback for the company and this was enough to convince my recruiter to grant me a 2nd interview. She also sent me tips and advices how to prepare myself and all of them are in a total accord with this man's advices from the videos. I had 5 days to prepare and that was enough for me. Watching several videos of him and following his advices made me be halfway there with my application process by passing the big interview. Now just the background check and one more basic easy phone interview and the job is mine!
Big thanks and respect to Don Georgevic!
many thanks my friend

Hey Don,
I have been following you quite recently on that video you have posted about 12 questions to ask your employer, I have nailed my second round interview for my dream job thanks to your video and for that reason sir you deserve a lot of gratitude. Thank you.
Thank you. got a job with some help from this video.
Whoever is watching right now.
Be strong and confident then youll get the job. DONT GIVE UP and PRAY!
Hopefully this helps someone- I conduct interviews as part of my job (operations supervisor.) We do targeted selection style interviews; therefore, it is imperative that applicants answer in STAR format. If you can do that then you're miles ahead of most of the competition. If you don't know what that is, then look it up because I know of very few companies who do not utilize this style interview. Come prepared with very specific examples from your professional career where you demonstrated strengths you feel will be pertinent to job you are applying for. Research the company you're interviewing at. It boggles my mind when I sit down with someone and ask, "So what do you know about this company," and they say something akin to....""mmm, not a whole lot."I instantly feel my time is about to be wasted, and most of the time I'm not wrong. Lastly, work in key words- I can't transcribe every thing you say during the interview, so I write key phrases you say that stand out to me. For instance, say, I am passionate about leading and developing people- it provides me great satisfaction to share in that journey with others. Passionate is a strong word. Use positive language! Good luck everyone!
haters will say, the background is fake.
LOL... I was admiring it, but also questioned if it was real or a green screen LOL... not hating, just curious. It's pretty awesome to say the least :-)
Hahahaha
It ain’t hating if it’s true lol
I mean honestly, how hard is it to get a real office background? Or if you get a fake one make it more realistic.
😂😂😂
Thank you so much for this video! I’m so happy to say I got the job due to watching this on repeat for hours. You are doing a great service for people. Thank you again!
Wow this is simply amazing advice. I suffer from anxiety and all that tips you have given are genius and have provided me with some sense of relief. I've been dodging looking for work because I dread the interview process but I refuse to sit back and do nothing any longer, its been a year and I'm ready to suck it up and let them know how valuable I'am as an employee. I have 4 yrs experience and lut my heart into my job and that's the hard truth. Anxiety stinks but we have to learn to look at how amazing we really are as people and stop beating ourselves up about anxiety and just tackle it head on. Practice makes a huge diff. in helping to reduce anxiety. We go this yall.
Confidence is EXTREMELY important in anything you wanna do in life and particularly in interviews.
It sure is

they said I was too enthusiastic, I thought that was a good thing, idk, I recently found another better opportunity that was a lot easier to obtain which makes no sense, its crazy how people are so different but thank you so much for asking.

So much information to remember.
I really enjoy your presentations because they are like having an excellent professor in my college classroom. You are excellent in your delivery in every way.
I watched this video the night before and the day of a big interview. I got the job! One of the biggest hit of my interview??? Your #10 I asked "where do you see the person who fills this job in two months, Four month"? This really impressed my interviewer!
Never say you were fired. If they call your ex-employer and they reveal they fired you they are liable. They are not supposed to say you were fired, just confirm you used to work there,
well they can also asked how u was as an employee
Great Vid Don!
Don, I had been stuck in a job I hate for 6 years but I had never left is because it paid well. It is also a job that was completely different from the job I used to do, so returning to the same profession before that became really difficult since I already spent 6 years in this other job. Three months ago, I got laid off because the company faced financial issues due to COVID. I would get interviews once a month (yep) since I'm trying to go back to the same profession I had before, but because of my most recent job, I guess my application got ignored a lot.
Luckily, I got an interview for the profession I love and your videos helped me structure my thoughts and sell myself despite the 6 years I spent in my recent job that was irrelevant to the job I was applying for . Now, I am paid more and I get to do what I like. I guess that job really was meant for me. Your advice definitely helped me be my best self in that interview. I'm a manager now.Thank you!
About to finish with university... This video answers lots of questions on how to answer interviewers' questions I might soon be facing. Truly helpful. Thanks Don
Interviewer: Tell me about yourself
Applicant: My name is Hired
Interviewer: So you're Hired?
Applicant: Thank you sir!

Thank you, Don! I have an interview next week for a position I'd really love, and this is going to help me a lot.
