Well done Chris. A solid start for the New Year. Good luck with the training for the race. I've been restricting my running to tread mill recently mainly due to temps in the mid 30's. We've had a bit of rain across the last two days, so it's been good to get outdoors and pound the beat a bit. Cheers! Phil
Thanks Phil. Our weather has turned to cold (minus degrees) but sunny, which I far prefer to wet weather. Went out this morning but was a bit slippery.
The famous, classic English understatement ... you said, "A bit of a hill...." NO! That was a mountain!!! LOL. Good job getting up the monster hill and finishing the park run.
@@HereWeAreRunning Chris, I wonder if you agree with this: I feel that running down a steep hill never gives me back the energy I spent climbing up the hill. It's always an energy deficit.
It is cold here in New York City also. Right now it is 6:51 a.m. in New York City, 25 degrees Fahrenheit, and around 8:00 a.m. I am going out to run 4 miles. Have to. I am registered for a ten-mile race on April 6 and I am in the same situation as you - having slacked off my running for awhile and now lacking fitness - so I have to go out in the cold, just like you have to go out in the mud and the frost. Still, I think you and I are lucky to be runners instead of bingo players sitting around indoors on easy chairs and not doing anything physical.
Hope your run went well. I opted for the treadmill this morning as I really hate the dark and wet early morning runs. Forecast says we are getting cold but sunny days for the next week, which I don't mind so much, so hopefully I'll get outside more.
@@HereWeAreRunning I understand you, as most people feel the way you do - but I lived most of my life in hot, sunny Los Angeles, California, and I am thrilled to now be living here in New York City on the other side of the USA, where we have "real winter." Los Angeles is usually two weather patterns: (1) hot, and (2) hotter. It's a big thrill to be here in New York City now and have rain, fog, and snow here. EXCEPT on the days of races, then I don't want wet weather. I'm sure you understand.
@@HereWeAreRunning I love the "suspense" of watching you run across those little stepping stones in the water near, what is it, I think is it Box hill? I'm still waiting to see you slip and fall in the water, so do entertain me, Chris. 🤣
Yes, they are the steppings stones at the bottom of Box Hill. In the Spring time, when it remains light in the evenings I'll be able to run across them again whilst one of my son's does his football training, which is nearby. I'm definitely not falling in though 😆
@@HereWeAreRunning Oh, come on, falling in would be entertaining! We saw you fall on the trail ... falling in at the stepping stones would be good fun, splashing in the water. 🤣
You probably don't remember a request I made to you a couple of years ago .... but I'd like to revive the request now. When you are out running on the trails again, I would like to see more of those beautiful British cows with the wide white band around their black bodies. Gorgeous cows. I've never seen cows like that here in the USA, only in your videos. So, get up right now and go find me some more cows!!!!!
Not seen the cows for a while. Maybe they are being kept inside a cow shed during the winter 🤔 I'll definitely capture some footage of them when I next see them.
@@HereWeAreRunning Yes, they might be wintering in a barn ... or taken to another pasture. I would like to ask you to buy one of those cows for me and ship it here to New York City ....... but I do NOT think I would be allowed to keep a "live" cow in my New York City apartment! 🤣
@@HereWeAreRunning Yes, I liked watching your trail runs - even the runs without beautiful cows. Remember that "fun" trail moment when you tripped and fell and rolled over into the bushes on the side of the trail? It was probably more fun to watch than for you to feel it!!! You looked at the camera and gave the classic English understatement: "I fell over." Yup, you did!
Could only see a floating head with all that camo
I like to blend in to the scenery 😆

Wishing you a very Happy New Year as well 😊

Haha, it was pretty steep but quite nice running down the other side.

Battersea sounds good Chris. Nice race to get you started. 😎🤘
That's my thinking as well. Something familiar and good to see where I'm at 👍😊

@@HereWeAreRunning Do you remember when I mentioned the cows to you two or three years ago?? I've been one of your subscribers for awhile now.
Yes I do. They featured most during my Ultra training when I was out on the trails a lot more.

Bit smallist that. Great jogging.
A 'little' bit.
