    In this Thursday Boots Logger review, I'm taking a look at the new made in the US model. Check out all the cool leather options and get the Thursday Logger here → manly.link/thursday-logger
    I picked up my Thursday Logger in the Horween Waxed Cocoa leather, which is made in the legendary Horween tannery in Chicago.
    Thursday manufactures most of their boots in Mexico, but this Logger and their Vanguard line are made in the US. So is there a big difference?

      Are there any plans on releasing a revised version of the shoe using Bootspy's feedback? The rubber top lift looks very thin and because of that, I can't justify purchasing these boots until this is addressed. Gorgeous boots apart from that.

    Bro, another awesome review ‼️I just picked up a pair of AE Higgins Mill in the Horween Chromexel & really like them after a couple wears but when laying down the cash thought really hard on whether to buy them or two pairs of Thursday Boots🤔 Since I’ve got three pairs of Thursday decided to go with the AE. To be honest from top to bottom you just can’t beat TB and all the killer models they offer, I really want to pickup a pair of diplomats since I don’t have any boots without a heel other than some old Clarks desert boot. Think when it’s time to change that heel pad I would go with the matching Vibram heels and your cobbler might have to take a layer or two off the stacked leather but it would look so much better with matching lug heel and last much longer‼️😎👍Keep up the killer videos, look forward to all the new stuff🍻🍺🍻

Newer company’s starting from scratch are the ones playing catch up, and it’s still good to support them.

    Interesting. I'm enjoying my Cap'ns. I wonder, if Thursday only has one thickness in their heel cap rubber, as I don't recall ever seeing a thicker version from the company, though their outer soles change. For anyone that's one the fence, don't take the aforementioned observation as anything other than that, as Thursday boots are awesome, imo.

    I am in between vanguard in this leather and burned copper. I love the look of this leather but the heel looks too high. Is the arch angle of this and the other vanguards are the same? These are not work boots. If you intend to work in them, your feet will hate you. Get some Red Wings or Carolinas if you want to actually do outdoor shit. This reviewer says it...they're city boots, fashion boots. They aren't work boots or hiking boots.

    • @mattrobson3603
      @mattrobson3603 3 роки тому

      @Brandon Lee Barrow I can't tell you what does and does not feel good on your feet. I can only tell you that in my experience the slimmer and more pointed toe of the Thursday, along with the lack of shock absorption in the sole, means that my Loggers are wildly unsuited to anything that would need actual ruggedness.
      The shape of the upper is one of the aspects that makes this a beautiful boot, but it also leaves less room for the (or at least my) foot to move without pinching(particularly on the knuckle of my left foot's big toe, but that's obviously going to be a 'me' thing and not a universal thing.) For work I'm not getting anything that doesn't have a roomy enough toe box to accommodate a steel toe. I've also done a little hiking in that sort of boot, and much like with work my leg muscles are what is fatigued at the end of the day, whereas with my Thursdays foot pain is the limiting factor on how long I can wear them.
      I'm hoping that will eventually not be the case, because as I've said I absolutely love the way they look. I would love them to be comfortable as well. But for now they're what I put on when appearance is more important than performance.

    • @eelcohoogendoorn8044
      @eelcohoogendoorn8044 2 роки тому

      @@mattrobson3603 I suppose comfort is indeed highly subjective, depending on the particulars of your foot. On the whole, thursdays seems to get excellent reviews on that front. If anything they optimized for comfort over long-term durability and ruggedness; thinner leather, use of foam, etc. By contrast, Ive never heard anyone describe, say, a pair of Nicks logger boots as comfortable; except in the rather long term.

  • @uncannyfox

    That Thursday brand rubber heel ruins it for me, they should've went full Vibram lug sole instead of this weird half/half combo. Even aesthetically is looks off.

    • @satchrocks34
      @satchrocks34 3 роки тому +1

      Not that I'm adding a ton to this discussion but I assume this has to do with Thursday being able to use the exact same last, with the exact same drop, even with the larger, cuban heel. Looking at most PNW logger style boots, the drop is much higher. The heel stack on the other boots is at least 5mm thinner than the cuban one, so in order to make the boot work on the same last, you're gonna have to put a much smaller toplift/heelpad on it.
      I really dig the darker brown, waxed flesh look. Truman's Java Waxed Flesh Boots really rev my engine. So given that, the Vanguard in this Dark Brown Waxed Flesh was super appealing to me too. And the price is great. But if I got them, I would fully replace the heel block on them. And thats likely to be $75 plus shipping. So now they're only like $50-75 cheaper than a pair of Trumans.

    It looks like Thursday also makes that boot in a Vanguard 6". Curious as to your thoughts on 1) the 8 inch boot vs the 6". Do you have a preference and why? and 2) do you prefer the Vibram rubber sole or the regular Thursday rubber outsole? Also those have a very similar appearance to the Allen Edmonds Normandy Boot.

      I bought the Loggers(same waxed cacao color as the ones in the video) over the similar Vanguards because A: I liked the tonal stitching of the Loggers over the contrast stitching of the Vanguards and B: I liked the waxed cotton laces better than the leather laces (I could have bought the Vanguards and then just bought some waxed cotton laces to go along with it, but then it would have been almost as much as the Loggers anyway. And I still wouldn't have had the tonal stitching.) Shaft height was mostly irrelevant (and actually a bit of a downside - without speed hooks, lacing up my loggers takes several minutes.)

    I bought a pair of Thursdays, because everyone recommends them so highly.
    But it turns out they are incredibly narrow and painful for me to wear... and I don't need wide boots. I can slip into a size 11 (regular width) Timberland boots and have them fit perfectly from the get-go.
    But with Thursday boots, my toes are so crushed together (side by side, not from the top) that when I flex my toes, the sides of the boot bulge out over a centimeter in width.
    To top it off, I measured the width of the Thursday boots compared to the Timberlands I currently own. Thursday soles are a full 2 cm narrower than a regular-width Timberland.
    So I had to return them... and I'll never be able to buy a pair of boots from this company because they choose to make their footwear so extremely narrow. What's even more shocking is that my feet aren't abnormal... and yet nobody every mentions how narrow Thursday boots are. Reviews describing that simply don't exist.

    • @hkguitar1984
      @hkguitar1984 2 роки тому +2

      I've read other comments complaining of Thursday;s sizing and propensity to run narrow.
      Were the boots you tried made in Mexico or USA?
      Judging by all the comments I've been reading (research before purchase) it seems like the USA and Mexico facilities are using different sized Lasts in the construction. Not good at all (IMHO).
      Hopefully they will sort it out. For myself, I like the looks of these boots, however the thin heel cap is a no-go for me.
      I have plenty of real heavy duty work boots, I was hoping to find a pair of Thursday's Boots for the Office, something lighter and a little better looking than my real work boots.

    I’m loving the logger and the Vanguard underslung heel looks, but the no speed hooks thing is giving me some pause. If they had speed hooks, I’d have already pulled out my charge card. Without speed hooks, I’m a bit more hesitant. Cobblers are a little hard to come by around these parts, and I’d want to add them immediately.

    This is no doubt a great boot and as rightly pointed the heel cap could have been much thicker to suit the sole of the boots. Overall a good boot. But again you add just a little extra and get the iron rangers.

      Stylistically these hardly compete with the iron ranger; they are quite different beasts in my book. Considering getting a pair of these to add some variation to my otherwise constant iron ranger use. Sure, the iron ranger has a more rugged build quality, but as a somewhat lighter cheaper and easier to break in boot, these seem like they fill a pretty good spot in the market.

      Rubber hitting the pavement always has a rather definite life span; doesn't matter the brand or type of boot. What matters if it's easily replaceable by your local cobbler; and that should be the case with these boots. Yeah its a little thin out of the box, but you can ask your cobbler to put on something a few mm thicker next time; that wont instantly destroy the look or feel of the boot.

    I definitely do not think of "higher quality" when I think "made in the USA". What I do think is "unnecessarily expensive".

    • @mattrobson3603
      @mattrobson3603 3 роки тому +5

      There's nothing about US labor that makes something they produce inherently better, it's just that because it's more expensive to pay people first-world wages the companies that tend to make stuff in the US tend to be the ones that are going be expensive anyway, so they shell out for time/expertise (like say, Nicks or Wesco).

    My Loggers arrived today. goddam boot fit...i order 10.5 and should have gone 10's. but I also received a pair of Truman Coach ramblers today in size 10 and they should have been 10.5 so i can't win.
    i am super impressed with the loggers. the waxed leather looks awesome with a great contrast between the stitching. they feel comfortable right out of the box and i can tell there will be no real break in period. the Trumans on the other hand are super stiff and are going to be a chore to break in. you can tell the difference in quality if you look closely. but from a distance you would never know one cost twice as much..i now regret waiting so long to buy a pair of Thursdays. i agree i would never wear these to do any actual logging. I cut my own firewood and have dedicated boots for that and the build and safety features are much more robust in my other loggers. but for the office or night out these are absolutely perfect. I'm amazed at how comfortable they are right away.
    one small CQ issue. there was a big ball of glue holding down the insole that felt like a pebble in your shoe. i ripped it out and it took some of the top and bottom with it. but not a big deal.

    bought these on a late night whim because it's advertising kept showing up everywhere and i just couldn't take it anymore. their advertising wore me down. and for the price and getting an American made goodyear welted boot i figured you can never go wrong with having a waxed flesh boot in your collection. so after the purchase i finally decided to watcha a review.
    and Why is boot fitting such a frigging nightmare? i have Solomon boots in size 11 that fit perfect, i have Grant stone boots in size 10 that are too big. why, why why can't we just have universal sizes? I ordered these loggers in size 10.5 but I also just ordered a pair of Coach ramblers in size 10 based on their sizing guide and I'm hoping they fit.
